Well like any monk worth his salt I wanted my brown belt since 40 but still wore the purple until 56. Deadly Dodo was an easy drop. Too easy! I saw him twice in an hour but missed the claim both times. The second time a poor DRK was aggroed while at half hp and Deadly proved his namesake. I watched the NM go down to very little hp, but the DRK's was less. I must admit I was cheering on the dodo... Anyway after the DRK died I killed Deadly in about 4 hits and got the drop! Then I found the DRK a raise as thanks for making my life easy.
All in all I spent the most amount of time in Ordelle's waiting for the Morbolger to make me happy. I'd just go there when I had nothing else to do and hope to get lucky. Fill up my inventory with malboro vines and just wait. And I never saw the *******. The first time I camped him after a maintenance there were 30 people there. Thirty! I just logged out and did something else. Then the December 8 maintenance came and it was early and I was home and I started the update right at 3:00 cst and an hour and a half later I wrote the following lsmes: I awoke from maintenance in the caves of Ordelle's and found myself faced with an awful smell... MORBOLGER!!!!!!!! My ls knew about my suffering at the hands of this monster and I just couldn't believe he was right in front of me when I logged in. I felt high. Oh, he was no sweat at 56.
So, fresh from my Morbolger victory I dashed off to Beaucidine Glacier to take down the Nue. I had already camped him once with ls when I was around 50, killed him and got no drop. But I didn't think I'd have to kill him nine more times to get it... NINE times! I went 1/10 w/ Nue. I spend almost 12 hours killing him every time he spawned which was about every 1.5-3 hrs. It was very frustrating. Then I got home late one night, logged in, killed a Tundra, Nue popped and dropped his fang. I was in shock as I walked to Jeuno via Batallia (forgot my warp scroll). And then I got my Brown Belt and felt like a hero.
You get the title Morbolbane just from killing Morbolger, which is pretty cool. In fact, it's kind of cooler than the title Brown Belt that you get from finishing the quest. But I'm sure any monk going for their belt will suffer delerious jealously when they see anyone with the title Brown Belt ^^
