Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Star Orb, which is obtained by trading 40 Beastmen's Seals to Shami in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Star Orb to the Burning Circle inside Balga's Dais and choose to enter the battle Steamed Sprouts.

Your party will be deleveled to 40 when you do this encounter. Your party may consist of 6 members. You have 30 minutes to defeat the Dvorovoi and 7 linked Domovoi.

Strategies

You will be able to tell immediately which mob is the Dvorovoi because he is the black Mandragora standing in the middle. Most successful strategies include a Bard for Horde Lullaby. All mages and the bard should have several Yagudo Drinks to drink. Stand on the bridge without aggroing and target the Dvorovoi. Your tank(s) should have food that will provide a good defensive boost. When you zone in, buff everyone up and when ready, move to the bridge. Do NOT get too close or you'll aggro the whole lot of them.

Have your puller bring the group to the edge of the bridge. If you have a Black Mage, he/she should try to Elemental Seal/Silence the Dvoirovoi it so that it cannot cast Ancient Magic. The Bard will be focused on keeping all 7 Domovois asleep with the White Mage keeping him/her alive. Once the Dvorovoi is dead, concentrate on killing one Domovoi at a time.

I'm not going to say much more than hasn't already been said, but I've tried to put a few things in here that I didn't notice before. The moral of this is, this isn't a difficult BCNM if you play things right. This is copied from my post in another section.

OK, I've fought in this BCNM a few times and my BCNM party has come across a great strategy to win this thing. This obviously is not the ONLY strategy, but this will work.

Our party makeup:

Brd/Whm, Whm/Blm, Rdm/Whm, Pld/War, Drk/War, Rng/Nin

Note: Using this strategy, it is HIGHLY - as it almost vital - to have Mary's Horn for this fight. The BRD is going to take a lot of aggro and most likley not be able to finish this fight unless he/she can keep things asleep every time they awake.

1) The beginning of this fight is incredibly important. The BRD goes toward the battle circle close enough to be able to cast a song - but not close enough to get aggro. Cast Foe Lulliby on Dvorovoi. This will sleep DV, and the other Mandys will aggro.

2) The mele and RDM engage DV in the middle of the battle circle, while the BRD runs down the alley toward the burning cirlce and casts Horde Lulliby there. The WHM stays there with the BRD. The BRD's responsibility is to keep the Mandys asleep using Horde Lulliby during the entire fight. The WHM's responsibility is to keep the BRD alive when the other mandys wake up - while he/she sleeps them again.

3) The mele and RDM kill DV. The RDM's job is to keep the mele alive and to cast enfeebles -- keeping everyone alive is most important! The DRK's job is to STUN when DV starts to cast Flood. As far as I know, there no set time for this. Turn on ALL your chat filters except "Special action by Others" (Although leaving Party Chat on is advisable). This will turn off the clutter and allow the DRK to see the Flood when it is cast. Last night I was in a fight where DV cast Flood three times, so be on your toes. It can come at any time and any number of times. STUN is absolutely vital, otherwise you will fail.

4) Once DV is dead, RNG pulls random Mandy off the BRD and WHM mass. It will be hard to pull, because by now the BRD has cast Lulliby a few times. This will obviously get more and more difficult as the battle goes on. By the end, it will take all the mele to pull the mandy's.

5) Kill them one-by-one until they are all dead.

You should never have to use 2hr unless something goes wrong. The absolute two most important things is 1) the BRD to keep the Mandy's asleep (why Mary's Horn is so important) (implicit in #1 is the WHM must keep the BRD alive) and 2) The DRK (or whomever) must stop Flood. If you do those two things, you will most likely win.

Good luck. I'm 1/4 on this fight.

First time DRK (me) didn't stop Flood. Rng died, we all died. Second time the BRD didn't get any healing and died. We couldn't keep the Mandy's off and we all died. The Third time the BRD died again, although after DV was killed. PLD used 2hr and a few of us got out alive.

The fourth time, I Stunned (three times) and the BRD kept Mandy's at bay. We survived with almost Full HP. We got Scroll of Erase. Doesn't get much better than that.

Edit**

After doing this several more times since my original post, I have a few more notes.

1) There does seem to be a pattern of the Flood by DV. DV always casts a spell at the very beginning of the battle - it can be paralyze or another enfeeble, but about 1/3 of the time, it will cast Flood immediately. It will do this before it attacks physically. If it casts Flood immediately, prepare for 1 or 2 more Floods before the fight is over, depending on how fast you kill it. If it doesn't cast it immediately, about 1/3 of the time it will cast it once during the fight - sometime in the middle. And about 1/3 of the time, it will not cast Flood at all. **WARNING** These are estimates and should in no way mean that these are the only options. These is just my observations based on about 10 fights.

2) We now do this without a PLD. You can, but none of the Mandys do massive damage, so you can go without. Any good damage dealer will do the trick. If you want a tank, use a War w/ duel weild. But, the RNG will most likely keep all the hate anyway, because it takes so much to pull the mandys off the Bard after a while anyway.

Good hunting.

Go down to my description, follow it like the Bible, this is easy and very rewarding, me and Lokee do this on Pandemonium as often as possible. I'm currently not in a position to play right now, but if you need a good party, experienced where it counts, contact Lokee, hes the best.
Warcry

Ok this was my first time doing this. We had PLD, WAR, DRK, RDM, WHM, BRD. Pld was tank and me (War) and drk were the DD's. First time it went fine. Brd ran in and slept them all then pld voked the black one. We had weapon bash and shield bash to stop flood when he did it. We were all using food (even brd used fish mithkabobs to help hits from when mandys woke up). After black one dropped we repeated with the rest of the mandys following the Pld's voke. It took all 3 of us voking sometimes to get the hate off the brd.

2nd time was a fluke the mandys wouldn't stay near the brd and weren't going to sleep. So brd died and the rest of us followed suit. We had only 2 mandys left before the last died.

3rd time the black one took forever to die. I was using warcry at beginning of battle but we were still on the black one when I could use it again so I did. (I was also asleep or blind half the time so I wasn't hitting much). When I did warcry the mandys had just woken up and brd hadn't reslept them so they came toward me and brd ran in to sleep again but died. It was over quickly after that.

So I know warcry brings a lot of hate but I would suggest that if your not the war tank then use warcry at your discretion or not at all.
Set Record on Shiva
# Sep 28 2004 at 4:24 PM Rating: Decent
My Linkshell (Babylon) just set the record on Shiva for BCNM40 Steamed Sprouts. We took BRD BLM WHM BST RNG RNG. one range pulled, took to circle while BRD slept. then the other range would work on the black mandy. The Bst would charm away one white mandy and use it to work on the RNG's mandy. Repeat 6 times and the last mandy was annihilated by blm and whm nuking with full mp. Pretty easy to do, no 2hours used, might have been faster with 2 hours. Our clear time was 12:25
Vaindaniel (BST) Radagast (BLM) HomePeace (BRD) Malystryx (RNG) Kenwlog (RNG) Fatter(WHM)
fishkabob for bard, mithkas for rng
nothing for other 3 mages
bcnm 40 with summoner

I wonder how many summoner are needed to nuke the whole bunch down.

Imagine one bard and 5 summoner using astral flow with aoe spells.

anyone tried this?

and learned a couple lessons the hard way. This was my first attempt at a BCNM

Had a pt of PLD/WAR, RNG/NIN, DRK/THF (me), BRD/WHM, and 2 WHM/BLMs

1st time, everyone stays back except BRD and PLD. BRD goes in and sleeps the mandies, almost dies, PLD vokes, we start wailing on black mandy, then realized the 2nd WHM was missing. 1st WHM runs out of MP, and we die quickly. We then had to wait ~25 minutes for the battle timer to end, so we could be raised.

lesson #1: Make sure your whole pt makes it in to the battle field, we're guessing the WHM wasn't on the burning circle when we went in, and we started to fight before she tried to enter.

lesson #2: PLD vokes first, then BRD does sleep, the voke will tighten up the horde

lesson #3: Black mandy can cast Paralyzega, so the DRK needs a macro to scream if he gets paralyzed

lesson #4: it's really funny watching 5 dead bodies spawn at the same time.

OK, try #2

Everyone stays back, PLD goes in, vokes, BRD goes in, sleeps, we go in and wail on Black Mandy. Instantly PLD dies from flood, we remain calm, raise the PLD, PLD uses invincible, and keep at the black mandy. things are going well, but invincible wears off, PLD is weakened, and dies, the RNG/NIN shortly after. I (DRK) wail on black mandy, WS, 2 hour, WS, Drain, it dies (during this time it tries to use flood, I see it, and stun it no problem)

so we have 2 WHMs, BRD, and DRK left. I pick a mandy, shoot it with an arrow, then try to use Drain, the other mandies wake up, WHM cures the BRD, runs out of MP, BRD dies, we run for it, die as well. At this point, we're tired, and decide to call it a night, waiting another 25 mins was not an option.

lesson #5: If you are the DRK, do NOT hang back, you will not be able to see the Flood warning if the mob starts it right away. At the same time, every party member needs a macro for a flood alert (good advice from a prev. post)

lesson #6: if you find yourself in a situation where the mandies are asleep, and the black one is dead, WHMs should try to rest if they can.

lesson #7: as indicated earlier, the BRD will generate hate from doing the sleeping. having a DRK firing an arrow (and missing) will not pull the mandy off the BRD, it will, however, let the mandy wake up the other mandies, and chaos ensue. In hindsight, a WAR sub would've been better for provoke, although I'm not sure if that would be enough to pull hate off of BRD, maybe RNG sub with RNG abilities would be best here. OR maybe Sneak Attack one of the mandies will be enough.
RE: two tries, two failures

not nearly as hard as you make it to be.
1. DO NOT TAKE A PLD, they are useless the mandy isnt strong enough to bother and pld cant hit worth anything, if you want a tank take a war

2. take a drk for stun or prepare to have flood cast on you, and die, quickly... the end

3. at the begining have someone run and get all the agroe, no voke, just run in, someone else voke the black mandy only, the brd stays at the entrance and sleeps all the other mandys continiously, nothing else, i suggest you have a rdm or smn healing him since they have moer Mp than a whm, everyone else concentrates on the black mandy untill its dead then vokes and kills the other mandys one at a tme away from the brd.

do it right and its easy, hope this helps all you new BCNM people

I went as a paladin and did fine. I managed to keep enough hate so that the drk and sam were not aggroed. Being able to heal yourself is a plus so your healers can work on the brd.

Personally I would avoid anyone who says "you have to have your party this way" or "you have to do this" at the start. I think people should be able to do it their own way. If they want to go as 6 war/whms, hey, more power to you (although i -highly- reccomend a brd and a drk!)

Well, i just did this battle three times, won all three of them. Party consisted of NIN/WAR, NIN/WAR, RNG/???, WHM/BLM, BLM/WHM, BRD/WHM(me). We started it out by me sleeping the black one, then sleeping the white ones when they got to me. Then the NINs and RNG went after the black one while the whm healed them. I kept Ballad up at all times, while the BLM healed me. The only time where we almost lost was during the last one when one of the NIN accidentally blew himself up. All in all a very good run.

I'm 4/4 on this bcnm battle with my linkshell. I'm a taru bard and with the proper equipment and food this is a peice of cake. I have +16 charisma and a Mary's Horn, I get 0 resists and maybe 1 early waker every 3-4 horde casts.

Our group consists of pld/war drk/war rng/nin rdm/whm whm/blm and me brd/whm. I eat steamed crab which is a must if your a taru, I take 33% less damage after eating one of those, about 20 per hit. You may be thinking 1500 gil, thats not worth it just for food, it helps a lot and the rdm healing me only had to convert on 2/4 of the battles.

Our plan basically consists of pld running in getting agro from all of them, pld then pulls them all back to the dip in the path where I lullaby them all. Pld, rng, drk then proceed to pull the black on back to the middle of the circle area and begin attacking it. Whm stands equally between both groups so he can cast cure's on whoever needs it and can get hit with ballad. Rdm is close to me the bard for curing. After I lullaby, I will recast blink and generally cast ballad for the mages or minne for me. I have over 240 defense and +9 vitality after all the buffing and food effects so I'm a not too shabby tank at this point. Basically just repeat this process until all the mandras are dead.

Takes us about 20-25 minutes to do this battle and from the four I did with my ls I'll have made 100k from it, (150k if we didn't let our whm have a scroll of erase to use). If your doing this I highly recommend your bard having Mary's horn and eating steamed crab, things go a heck of a lot better in my experience. I wear rse gear on my taru, the hp and vitality boosts are well worth it, mary's horn, af1 knife, elegant shield, the headband that gives +1 charisma and evasion, a bird whistle, 2 +2 charisma rings, corsette +1.

I wouldn't even try this if your bard doesn't have a Mary's horn, the mages will be spent really fast just keeping the bard alive because of the lower sleep times.

Just want to stress a detail that akickku has in this description, but might be easy to miss... It's vital that you pull the black one AWAY from the rest; if you fight him near the white ones, he'll keep the them awake, and your party will be toast.

Theres a lot of talk about the "Ideal party" and strategies for defeating this BCNM quest. I have not done the quest myslef, but I have done a bit of research into it, watched the BCNM video to see what I would be up against, and frankly, I am not impressed. The way to defeat this BCNM is ridiculously easy, in my opinion, IF my theory is correct, and, sadly the server is down so I cant test it but I want to post this so badly that I just can't wait.

Simple. Party of 6 Ninja. All use Reraise potions. All run up to the cluster of Mandys, Mijin Gakurei. AOE damage should be waaaay mor than enough to kill them all. You're back up on your feet in no time flat. Collect your treasure from the chest, and be on your merry way. 2 hours later, go and do it again. No xp lost, no chance of failure, just lots of loot in your pockets. Mijin Damage is based on your Hit points, so everyone pick the sub that you have that gives you the most. (Mnk would be the ideal choice)

Now where this theory could go haywire (and i'm sorry for junking up the forum if my theory was incorrect, feel free to flame me) is if Mijin Gakurei is not AOE. It's a self-targeted 2 hour ability so that leads me to believe that it is, as you cannot choose to specifically direct it at an enemy.

The other thing that could throw a kink in this plan is if the mijin gakurei damage is DIVIDED amongst the targets in range, as opposed to simply a set blanket amount of damage. If it's divided amongst the mandys then you might not have enough oomph to finish them off, but if it's not, well 6 ninjas at a measly 500 hit points each (will probably be around 6-700) equals 3,000 points of damage to each and every mandy. If youve watched the video you should know thats considerably more than any of the mandies (including the black one) has. Game. Set. Match.

So, I'm gonna test out Mijin Gakurei some more, and post exactly how it works. If i'm right, Whos up for some BCNM!?!

I dunno, my friend's a nin at level 28, and he says his record damage from Suicide is like 78 or something. at 40 you'd do more, but is the 700-ish damage you might do gonna be enough?

Sounds iffy to me, but all you stand to lose is 40 seals, give it a shot and see what happens.

People don't want to wait 2 Hrs inbetween BCNMs. If everyone could use their 2 HR, it would be a lot easier. PLD could use invincible, gather all the mandies, then a SMN could use their Astral Flow 2HR. BLM could Manafont and fire off a bunch of AGA spells.

Man, I wish I were so smart as to be able to figure out a 100% failsafe strategy for a quest I hadn't tried yet. And even based on a 2-hr job ability I hadn't tried yet.

If I were this smart, this game would be EASY! And I could also make snide comments about other people's discussions about their silly strategies.

Hmm, is it possible to use a smn/whm in place of a regular whm, or are you going to need cure 3? I know that in most BCNMs with many mobs they usually overwhelm you with numbers, more than damage. I'm hoping that by getting my rdm's sub to 40 I can BCNM my way into refresh without passing 33 and then feeling gimpy :) Thanks for your responses, and sorry if this was a dumb question, never done this BCNM before.

What you need is...
# Sep 03 2004 at 12:49 AM Rating: Excellent
Do not get a PLD. I made the mistake of a PLD many times, never did too well. Best pt is...

RNG/NIN (damage and tank)
RNG/NIN (damage and tank)
DRK/WAR (stun and damge)
BRD/WHM (sleepin them mandies)
RDM/mage sub of some sort (healing the brd/melee)
WHM/BLM (healing)

Buff up, use food, etc.

Bard runs in uses Horde Lullaby, they all go sleepy.

Melee start busting on the Dvorovoi (black one).

DRK hits Weapon Bash or Stun spell when flood is being casted. Put the log window at 8 lines just to be sure you see it. Everyone should have a "Warning: Flood" macro with a loud and annoying call, <call> and <call3> work great.

During this fight if the DRK gets put to sleep or Paralyzed I cannot stress this more... FIX IT!! The DRK's ability to stun is the one thing keeping this fight from ending in failure.

One of the RNGs will be doing everything they can to be killing the Dvorovoi as fast as possible, the other RNG however will hold back.

As soon as the Dvorovoi is dead the RNG that has TP and Barrage should pick a white mandy and begin wailing on it as hard as possible. Piercing Arrow and barrage work great. If it doesn't move the DRK can hit Souleater, Last Resort, Weapon Bash, and Provoke to pull the hate from the bard.
a
During this time the RDM can use convert when they get low and cover for all the healing while the WHM rests.

Inbetween Horde Lullabys the BRD should be using Mage's Ballad for MP purposes.

Essentially "Rinse and Repeat." As soon as a white mandy dies one of the RNGs, and only one, should be saving Piercing Arrow and Barrage for pulling another white mandy. Proceed to kill it til they are all dead.

VERY EASY MONEY!! in 5-6 BCNMs i made nearly 200k, little to no effort involved. Set these things up like a week in advance, find everyone in ur LS, friends, family, grandparents EVERYONE with an orb (cept tha bard he doesnt really HAVE to have an orb) and proceed to switch people out with fresh orbs. Hear/tell this makes Millions of Gil in just a day.

Any questions im on Pandemonium, MasterofShade.

Yet every time i go back to my moogle in windy with the bitter taste of defeat.... /sigh i have gone with ppl that are experienced and have great win records too, and i definatly dont think i suk as blm or whm. ppl have said im a good blm or whm actually. maybe i am a bad luck charm or maybe blm have no place in this... either way i think its gonna be a long time before i ever try to do this pain in the a$$ again.

Did this three times earlier with a friend and 5 people i'd never even met. (Party was brought together by my friend.)

PLD/WAR
DRK/WAR
WHM/BLM -Me-
BRD/WHM
BST/WHM
RDM/WHM

It was the RDM's and my first time in doing the BCNM, so we were a little worried, but everything turned out fine.

Upon entering the BC, Bard cast Paeon, and Minne, followed by Blink. RDM cast Regen on the BRD. Everyone ate food and I cast Protect II.

BRD and RDM run in first, BRD attracts attention and then hits them all with sleep. Melee run in, followed by me. PLD vokes and flashes the Black Mandragora, and the BST takes one of the white mandragora's for a pet.

Melee run over to the other side of the BC while I stay next to the RDM and BRD for Ballad. RDM heals BRD everytime the Mandragora's wake up. Melee hammer on the Black Mandragora, the DRK using Stun everytime it tried to cast Stun. I heal and Regen melee when necessary.

Soon, the Black Mandy is dead, and the DRK runs over to pull another, casting drain, hitting it, using provoke, last resort, and using a WS on it if he had the TP, ect. This would (usually) pull the hate off the BRD. BRD would cast Ballad while Melee were near, so they could regen MP. Melee would then run back to other side with mob.

This continued to the last Mandragora (the one the BST charmed), in which we went all out with skills, magic, songs, ect.

First BCNM was 25 minutes, with the notable drops being Erase, and Ice Spikes. Second BCNM was 22 minutes, with Erase and Ice Spikes, and the third BCNM was 21 minutes with Phalanx, and Utsusemi: Ni.

Overall, a nice experience (and gil) for someone who hadn't done BCNM until now. Sure, we didn't have the best time by a long shot, but at the end of the day, it's the reward that counts.

After several weeks of debating whether or not our linkshell was going to attempt a BCNM or not, we finally got together to do this one. Here are the results of our journey.

The party set-up was as follows:

rng/nin (me)
pld/war
drk/thf
rdm/??? (i think whm)
brd/whm
whm/blm

The battle plan was for the pld to run up and pull the black mandy (and the resulting trail of white mandies) back to the brd so she could cast Horde Lullabye on them. The whm stayed back to heal the brd should any of them wake up. The rest of us took the black mandy up into the circle to finish him off. After he died, it would be a simple matter of picking off the individual white mandies.

At least, that was how it was SUPPOSED to go ...

Our first time out, everything was going according to plan, until the black mandy started casting Flood. Apparently, our drk didn't notice and neglected to cast Stun. Needless to say, our pld bit the dust there and then. To our credit, we managed to finish off the black mandy, but ran into some troubles with the rest of the whites. I tried tanking them with our mages constantly healing me (Utsusemi was practically useless) but that put a drain on their mp, resulting in our brd dying and a horde of mandies on us. The resulting slaughter was legendary.

Well, as they say, "Adapt, React, and Overcome!" We chalked it up as a learning experience, worked out a better way to get the drk to Stun, and charged in again, once more into the breech. Well, pld runs up, provokes the black mandy and runs back with a trail of whites. the brd sleeps them, but to our suprise, we can't find the black one. Before we could even get out an "OMG", we see the text flash across our screens:

"Dvorovoi casts Flood.
[pld] takes 600 dmg.
[pld] was defeated by Dvorovoi."

Well, we had learned enough from our last battle to know what to do if our pld died. Luckily we all, save one, made it out alive.

This time, we chalked our defeat up to a freak occurence. Undaunted, we convinced ourselves that the third time's the charm, and tried again. Luckily, we all had Star Orbs.

This time, things went swimmingly! We kept the white mandies asleep, the drk stunned the black mandy at just the right time, and the mages still had plenty of mp by the time he finally went down. The only rough spot we hit was attempting to clean up the white mandies.

It was decided before we entered that I, the rng, would pull the madies off of the brd, one by one, using my WS with the tp i had built up from the previous fight. That should cause enough damage to bring the mandy my way and allow the pld to eventually take the hate onto himself, right? WRONG!

I go over to the whites, use a 300% Piercing Arrow that does roughly 280 points of damage. It wakes up and starts wailing on the brd. I fire off another arrow that hits for 120. Still nothing. At this point the pld is trying to provoke the mandy while I'm getting another arrow ready. Finally, the third arrow hit draws it off the brd and on to me. Too bad the pld can't get it off me. We take it down without much of a problem, I was able to dodge a lot of its attacks.

The next one I try to pull, I let off a Piercing Arrow for 230 and then a Sharpshot / Barrage for almost 600 damage. IT STILL ATTACKED THE BRD! I let off another arrow and it FINALLY turned my way. The rest were similarly hard to peel off the brd, but we managed to get them without any trouble.

The moral of the story:

1) Yes, the black mandy can cast Flood right off the bat, so be careful if he doesn't follow your initial puller.

2) Don't let your brd heal herself. This was apparently the cause of her enourmous hate build-up. The whm had come up to the front lines to assist in healing us. Between the sleeps and the heals, those mandies were more difficult to peel off than a bandaid on Bigfoot. I mean, one of the last ones was half dead before it finally stopped attacking the brd.

Well, after all was said and done, we didn't even get anything valuable. The best drop in the whole thing was a Scroll of Ice Spikes. We decided to call it a night and try again tomorrow. Hopefully, all our hard won knowledge will not go to waste.

I did bcnm with another linkshell, that was shouting in Jeuno for a rdm. I said ok but I didny know if we were going to do good since it was a shout. Our party was:
Drk/war
rng/war
War/nin
brd/whm
rdm/blm
rdm/whm (me).
Very was we did his 6 times and each time it took us about 15 minutes. We made 2 Erase scrolls,3 ice spikes, descent equipment and about 4 gems. Total was about 800k divided by 6=120-140k about. Not bad for 2 hours of easy fighting. Thanks Resissance. Rdm 41/whm Hume.Ramuh

ok let me tell you the secret to this BCNM
First is the pt
RNG,RDM,DRK,BRD,WHM,PLD
If you can, make shure that the brd has mary's horn because it helps alot.
Ok so here we go, First get all your buffs and food and stuff.
Ok the bard is gona but all the mobs to sleep so they can all agro him, when all of them are sleeping, get the ranger to pull the black one (it is very important that you take the black one out first)now the brd will be with all the mandragoras, and the rdm will be with the bard to heal him when the mandragoras hit him. the whm will be away from everyone healing in a safe spot. Now that the ranger has pulled the black one away from the bard the paladin will voke it and the fight will start. When the black mandragora start to cast flood, that is when the drk will come and use stun,if all go's well the mandragora will be stuned and will not be abel to cast flood. you just keep doing this untill you kill them all. My LS did this for 2 days strait and made over 2 million gil each :D it's like thay say "Good things come to those who do BCNM 40"

This is a bad idea. Unless your ranger pulls with barrage, bard will still have hate of the black one, and could get hit with a paralyga or flood. You want your tank to voke the sleeping black one, which won't wake it, and then engage waking it. When I go there is no pulling on the black one, the melee fight it right in the middle and I pull the white ones to the side.

Ranger pulling is a bad idea for the white ones too, I would yell at a ranger that tried to pull them off of me as a bard. The only way a ranger is gonna pull a white one off the bard is with barrage, which is on a 5 minute timer. 7 white ones times 5 minutes between pulls = over the time limit.
