Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Star Orb, which is obtained by trading 40 Beastmen's Seals to Shami in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Star Orb to the Burning Circle inside Balga's Dais and choose to enter the battle Steamed Sprouts.

Your party will be deleveled to 40 when you do this encounter. Your party may consist of 6 members. You have 30 minutes to defeat the Dvorovoi and 7 linked Domovoi.

Strategies

You will be able to tell immediately which mob is the Dvorovoi because he is the black Mandragora standing in the middle. Most successful strategies include a Bard for Horde Lullaby. All mages and the bard should have several Yagudo Drinks to drink. Stand on the bridge without aggroing and target the Dvorovoi. Your tank(s) should have food that will provide a good defensive boost. When you zone in, buff everyone up and when ready, move to the bridge. Do NOT get too close or you'll aggro the whole lot of them.

Have your puller bring the group to the edge of the bridge. If you have a Black Mage, he/she should try to Elemental Seal/Silence the Dvoirovoi it so that it cannot cast Ancient Magic. The Bard will be focused on keeping all 7 Domovois asleep with the White Mage keeping him/her alive. Once the Dvorovoi is dead, concentrate on killing one Domovoi at a time.

Our party beat this BCNM 4 times last night. Heres how we did it.

Party Setup:

PLD BRD BLM RDM RNG , Last slot can be a Melee (We had a SAM and THF switch out)

BLM, RDM, BRD took Poison Potions along with proper food. Melee's took their food. We setup macros to tell everyone whenever we were Asleep or Paralyzed. Dont forget to set Home Point in Windy.

PLD runs in and Provokes black onion. RDM casts Elemental Seal + Silence. After PLD vokes , BRD moves in to the group of mandras and puts them to sleep. Once all asleep PLD pulls black mandra off to the side (out of distance from the other madras, so you dont get put to sleep).

PLD, RNG, SAM(THF) start hacking away at black mandra. BLM + RDM kept BRD healed and slept any strays that resisted sleep.

Once black mandra was down you start grabbing a new mandra and have all 3 melee's attack. Then grab another. Keep this process up until all dead. Make sure you pull a new mandra away from the group each time. You don't want to be put to sleep.

Tips for PLD's: Try not to heal BRD unless absolutely necessary. You don't want that group of mandras coming your way, it'll cause hell. Leave the healing to the BLM and RDM and to the BRD himself.

When fighting the black mandra, keep Shield Bash and (once TP above 100) Flat Blade handy. If the black mandra starts casting Flood you have 3 options.

1) Use Flat Blade or Shield Bash to stop casting
2) Disengage and run like hell out of spell range
3) Die (I got hit with Flood at full health at beginning of fight, 800+ damage, this will be less if you have Barwatera on but still really nasty spell)

Ok, treasure part (4 WINS)
-----------------
2 Phalanx's, 1 Erase, 2 Refresh's, 2 Ut:Ni's, plus some other items that sell for decent amounts of gil.

Total Gil After Sold: 665K

Split that up and cha-ching.

another option for stopping flood is RNG keepin' a stack of sleep arrows on them and using a macro to equip them and shoot.

I hate mandras -_- I tried these strategies...PLD use flash...I silence the black one...brd keeps the white ones asleep... just didn't work. Something went horribly wrong. I'm not going to attempt this one again w/o 2 BRDs and 2 BSTs. :/

Quick breakdown...
I've been craving a scroll of Erase for quite sometime, almost bought it once even but needed to save the money for more relevant equipment. Once reaching lvl 57 my tarutaru buddy Tayo proposed the idea of doing BCNM... i'd been anxious to do BCNM for quite sometime but wasnt about to jump right into an overwhelming battle.

After doing some research on the situation and watching a video, [search google for 'bcnm40 movie'] I decided to hunt out some fine warriors and assemble the ultimate BCNM party.

Party ended up:

WHM/BLM - me
WHM/BLM - Tayo
BRD/WHM - Mally
RNG/NIN - A$$hole
BST/whm?- Poruporu
BST/war?- Dulkfact

all lvl 45+ and well equipped for lvl 40 cap.

Now other than the fact of BRDs lullaby (Sleepga) and the Beastmasters being able to charm the little helper NM's we purchased a bunch of food and medcine...

I suggest all melee's defanitely purchase Poison Poition (so u can poison yourselves and therefore not be put to sleep by the mandra's AOE). good invtestment for WHM also since they have auto-regen and HP wont drop. Regen anyone who poisons themselves, no Poisona.

Before entering the battlefield make sure to enhance your PT as much as possible before lvl cap. (i.e. Protectra III Shellra III Blink Stoneskin Reraise etc..) melees eat your kabobs mages eat your pies.

Battle strategy:

Poison yourselves, BST's charm the green mandras and sick them on the black one, BRD go in and lullaby all those guys, WHM Silence the black mandra and proceed to regen anyone who is poisoned, drink pineapple juice and BRD should Ballad u by this point. CONSERVE MP!!! If there are more than one mage in your PT make sure to take shifts! ...After killing the black mandra things get much easier, dont rush things just let the BSTs and BRD's do their work (timing lullaby is important so no one gets pummeled by 7 NMs at once). Fight fight fight!

----

and thats about how it all went down, we fought them 4 times, we won every time, and got 3 erase scrolls! defanitely worthwhile holding off from jumping into BCNM and wasting Star Orb unless you're confident in your success. make sure the BRD and healers know what they're doing or else you may meet a premature end.

OH and last but not least, MAKE SUREEEE you have a fair plan on who gets what from the prizes you reciever that way you dont get robbed by an a$$hole like Krokus on Unicorn. This guy (RNG) we proposed the idea to split the loot then after he got an Erase scroll he just ran off with it. Pretty lame way to stab someone in the back. (Think about it)

good luck!

My Experience

Okay so here is my experience from 3 consecutive victories this weekend.

Our Party Composition:
Pld, Brd, Whm, Blm, Mnk, Drk

Poison Potions on:
Blm, and Brd

Everyone using food, and Juices

I <PLD> ran in and got all aggro. Bard follows up and sleeps them all. I wake the black one and pull it to the side <left side in this case> while bard, whm, and blm run to the other side. When the white ones wake they run to the bard where he sleeps them again. Once black one is dead we pull a white one from other side to our side and kill them one by one. If the melee group got slept then the pld and mages would wake them. If the mage group was slept <blm/whm, and Bard using poison> only needed to wake the whm. To stop flood from black one used shield bash, flat blade, and stuns. Our average time was 20-21 minutes, but even when we had a few hiccups in our strategy it never spelled doom for us. Just my experience from this weekend, but it got us 3 straight wins, and an Erase scroll.

A mini guide to defeat this BCNM,

there may be a post of this already not sure.... I have deafeted this one 7 times now, But heres what you need. "based off best combo I have used"

Bard/palidin/Black Mage/White Mage/2 Monks
Also need 1 fishkabob/ 2 chefkabobs/ 4 poison potions each and mages need melons.

MONKS TURN OFF AUTO TARGET!!! you will learn why in a sec.

Ok you go in and the pally takes fishkabob for raised def, monks take there chefkabob raised str and attk, every one takes a poison to prevent bein slept.

Now Pally runs up alone flashes the black mandra runs back mean while all mages stand by the bard at first, when pally gets back to group as fast as possible the blk mg uses elem seal and silence the monks also target the black one and both 2hr and about the same time all the other mandra's will be following. The bard does his sleep song then it is safe for the other mages to back out of the way and heal and use melon for mp restoral and so on,
After the black one is dead the pally targets next one then monks lock on to same this is why monks turn off auto target so your not fighting 2 and 3 diffrent ones.... The whole while the bard keeps the remaining mandras asleep...

Key note make sure your always poisoned so you wont be slept, Everyone stays near each other till intial sleep from bard then mages can move, Bard of course stay by melee to keep them asleep being melee will have the aggro, Monks only fight what the pally has targeted if you follow this you should be successful =)

I hope this was Helpful^^

The 2 monks is a good idea but that will only work one time.... and usually when i go, i'm there for about 6 times in a row. Without 100 fists, mnks dmg in comparison to other melee classes is low. The party i usually go with has pld, of course, and then rng, sam, and drk are interchangeable. preferably rng however. the blm and whm is good in theory but in actuality its not a good idea. yes the elem seal/silence is a must unless you plan on your pld taking aboout 500 dmg every 20 seconds or so from flood. the brd is a must also, i recommend a Galka brd since when the smaller mandrags awake the brd will take damage. a lvl 40 galka brd should have 700+ hp which is very handy. but my recommendation instead of a blm and whm is 2 rdm's. one sub whm and one sub blm. a rdm's enfeeb skill is noticeably higher than a blm's. and you add the blm elem seal ability in and its guarenteed to stick first try. blm's in bcnm are never used for damage. strictly used for support healing and silence. now the rdm/whm will be main healer and i stress the need to have a paralyna macro set up for each party member. nothing sucks worse in a bcnm than trying to get off a heal and being paralyzed. but why rdm's instead of blm and whm? one simple word. convert. the rdm's will never have aggro in this fight if the pld and brd are doing their jobs, so convert is great. the rdm's will never run out of mana. and both will be able to heal. just keep the rdm/whm out of range of the smaller mandrag's slumber powder so he can run in and curaga and this party is golden. i've tried many combinations of parties for the BCNM and lost, but using this strat i have only lost once. hope this helps.

The fight does not grant all of those items, and I have not done it enough times to really establish if there is a rarity to the items that drop. When I did it (last sunday), we got Phalanx and a number of gems and materials. The group that I did it with is planning on doing it a number of times this coming Sunday, so I may be able to give a little bit more information after that.

The drops may be a good scroll(s) or just some jewels that aren't worth nearly what the rare spells are worth. Defeated BCNM40 6 times yesterday and we decided to sell and split the loot 8 ways. Will still probably get 100k or more as my cut.

I was the whm in the group. My main responsibility was to silence the Dvorovoi after the PLD vokes initially and keep the Bard alive. I'm mithra whm, so RSE was a must. Once the Dvorovoi is down, it gets easier.

We got 2 Phalanx to drop, one Ni, one Erase, and several Refresh scrolls. Also got Turqoise, Peridot, and Goshenite for jewels

Oh, and just for completing the BCNM, each party member gets 1k gil. So I made 6k gil on top of other drops.
