Summary

Walkthrough

You must first complete Gullible's Travels and Even More Guillible's Travels.

Once you have received the scent from Even More Gullible's Travels, talk to the Opo-opo on the airship dock (Lulupp), then talk to Vuih Stecoppah. You must trade the following items to the corresponding Opo-opos in the correct order:

1. Lulupp - Bkn. Mithran Rod (Port Windurst/Fish.Guild)
2. Kukupp - Workbench (Woodworking/Amateur)
3. Mumupp - Ten of Coins (Outer Horutoto Ruins Mob:Ten of Coins)
4. Roropp - Sands of Silence (Castle Zvahl Baileys Mob:Demon Magistrate, Demon Chancellor)
5. Popopp - Wandering Bulb (FeiYin Mob:Utukku)
6. Bubupp - Giant Fish Bones (Temple of Uggalepih Mob:Tonberry Stalker)
7. Tatapp - Blackened Toad (Sea Serpent Grotto Mob:Brook Sahagin)
8. Kakapp - Wyvern Skull (Ifrits Cauldron Mob:Hurricane Wyvern)
9. Lalapp - Ancient Salt (Quicksand Caves Mob:Sand Digger)
10. Nenepp - Lucky Egg (The Boyahda Tree Mob:Knight Crawler)
The last 5 items (except Blackened Toad) on this list are Rare/Ex, so you can not purchase them from Auction House.

If you trade the correct items in order, the Opo-opos will make you their king and you will receive the Opo-opo Crown.

Can you wash off the scent before completing the quest? Or do you need to "stink" until you have completed all 10 items?

Secondly, the title for the stench removal quest is "Personal Hygiene," but I can't seem to find any reference to it on this website. Any advice?
Crown
# Jun 03 2004 at 4:10 PM Rating: Decent
The reason to get this crown is simple:

Eat a panama with this on.
You get +50 HP, +50 MP, and +14 CHR. Some minor other stat changes as well.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 07 2004 at 3:55 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) as you can see by the stats of the crown its not something to actually use for its effectivness...

The reason to obtain the crown is for it's hidden effects, not it's looks or it's statistics. It looks like a cardboard father-christmas crown -- fun, but totally ridiculous. The quest is exceedingly long and arduous for just a bit of fun town gear. The real reason the crown is so desirable is that it will significantly magnify the effects of various foods when eaten.

There are lists of foods & effects with and without the crown on JP sites. I don't own a crown, so I don't know if the applification effect occurs at the time of consumption or upon wearing the hat; ie. I don't know if you can wear the hat, eat food, have it boosted, then take the hat off and still retain the boosted effects or not. It could go either way for that and I can't decipher Kanji well enough to figure it out.

I have heard that if you eat panama(bananas from opo opo in yuhtunga jungle, yhoator jungle) you can get +15 chr. If this is true thats HUGE for a brd or bst. WOOOOOo

Yes, if you eat a pamama while wearing the crown, you get +50HP, +50MP and +14CHR. However, the crown itself has a -7 CHR stat, so the end result is actually only +7CHR.

As far as the many other food bonuses, if you check the food section on mysterytour's website,
http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/ffxi/us/index.html
you will see a * next to some items that says "for those who understand the taste." It also has this * next to fish items that only affect Mithra, and meat items that only affect Galka. So, with the exclusion of the meat and fish items, "for those who understand the taste" is referring to wearing the opo-opo crown.

One of the other well known effects for this crown is with SAM eating rice balls. Using the Opo-Opo Crown along with the Myochin Kote, eating rice balls will boost you to around +70 attack and +25 defense (just an estimate).

Hope this helps~! ^^

To start this quest you must 1st have completed both Magrifon's Gullible quests (those where you give him a ton of gil for nothing). Doing his 2nd quest impregnates you with a smell all mithras in Khazam hate, but the Opo-Opos love.

Talk to Lulupp for a cutscene where Vuih Stecoppah appears and explains the quest.

Haven't started it yet, some of those items are from very high lvl mobs...
repeat?
