Could anyone tell me if this set up is good enough to win: pld/war(taru btw), bst/whm, bst/whm, blm/whm, rdm/blm, drg/thf. Our skillchain would be penta thrust- red lotus blade= wind for MB.
please write back =) thanx

Let me start off by saying what I have already said. The 2 bsts will make this so much easier as long as they play it smart and keep hate off themselves. These things have the very worst defense so a DRG would be great. I have never done it with a BLM so I don't know how that would go but you know BLMs are usually great. As for your def, a PLD and RDM huh? These things hit hard and fast. The PLD will not be able to get off many spells at all. So he wont beable to hold hate well with the drg hitting for 130+ a hit and the blm doing his thing. The RDM will have to full time heal and probably use convert. That's my 2 cents. Good luck

I did this fight again with a NIN, 2 BSTS, DRK, DRG/RDM(me), and WHM. We won 6 times out of 6 tries. We set the record. We stomped these carrot eating overgrown sheep. The WHM didn't even use drinks except for like 2 of the fights. We went in, used Protectra, WHM used Reraise, poison potions to stay awake, and food. You should all go look and target them before you all rush in. Keep your distance at this point. I used Chiefkabobs. I hit for 150 a hit, rarely missed, and my penta did 900 dmg once(it varies). Saved Super Jump for when I used penta. I shouldn't have subbed rdm since my wyvern was always asleep and could't heal. Our DRK used stun whenever the NINs shadows went down and it rarly scratched him. The BSTS can solo these things for just about forever, although they will need your help in killing it. After this I quit the game because I am as much a master as bring lvl 56 would permit me to be. And the game sucks since SE just adds more **** all the time.

Edit: The NIN and one BST got items that sold for like 5 mil. I got 1.5 mil total. Everyone else got like 300K. This is on Remora. So, mostly crap drops.

Edit: RDM sub for DRG came in handy since I could cast blink on myself 2 or 3 times a fight and cure people to wake them up.

Not Hard
# Mar 13 2006 at 2:46 PM Rating: Decent
I did this fight 5 times and won once! Our win time was like 15 min and you have 30 min to do this, take your time. We had many problems. Our party set up was a pld, whm, drg, drk, bst, and smn. We used poison potions to stay awake since the sheep cast sleep. The first time we all had stone skin, which absorbs poison! So we all got slept, and died one at a time. We stopped doing that, but then the smn had problems keeping hate on carby and kiting. I recommend 2 bsts to kite, since our bst never had any trouble. My penta did 800 damage to one of these! That grabbed me enough hate to die very quickly. Then the whm died from getting hate from curing me. Then we all died! Next time I will sub rdm for healing breath and less offense. You have lots of time. Lastly get a NIN tank. These sheep hit hard but have weak defense. A nin could easily tank one, maybe two for a while. Good luck ^^

Review: BSTs can kite these sheep with a crab easily for a looong time. NINs can tank these as long as they can keep hate(keep them hasted). DO NOT RUSH. DD take your time and dont get hate. It will end the fight quickly not in your favor

Our static party did this BCNM like a year ago... we're planning to try again.

I think our setup was like this, using the typical RDM gravity Kite method:

PLD/WAR(me), RNG/NIN, THF/NIN, RDM/BLM, RDM/BLM, WHM/RDM.

Here's the bit of info I don't see up there. As a tank, this fight is HELL. Every normal attack these guys do is a heavy knockback. There is absolutely no time to get a cure in on yourself because most of the time you are either being hit, or in the midst of a knockback animation, so your spells are always interrupted. Even Flash is usually interrupted unless you get the timing just right. So basically all you can do is Provoke and use Defender+Sentinel and otherwise stand there and get the crap beat out of you.

We have a debate up over whether NIN would be able to tank this. Will the knockback effect still occur even through Utsu? If not than NIN would be a much better tank than PLD for this fight. If knockback still happens then NIN would not work AT ALL as a tank, because you would never ever be able to recast your shadows.

It went ok though. I think we won 4/6 of them. We got the belt our Hume BRD (playing WHM here) needed and a few other misc. items. Unfortunately they were only worth a few 100k back then. Pretty excited about doing this again now that the stones are worth several million apiece.

I don't know about other servers, but on Asura (pretty crazy inflation here) this BCNM can drop an average of 3mil+ If you get the Steppe Belt, *boom* 6mil on AH as of 2-7-06. Ironically I could afford to BUY most of what I want from this BCNM if I got that drop alone.

Anyway... just FYI. Ya know, for what its worth.
Anyone on the Carbuncle Server that's interested?

Yeah, ouch...

Tried this BCNM three times, party was RDM/BLM, RDM/BLM, WHM/BLM, PLD/WAR, MNK/WAR, and BLM/WHM.

First time, gravity wouldn't stick for the RDM's, they got wiped and we were all soon to follow.

Second time, same thing except we all got raised within the BCNM and received another beating as soon as we engaged.

Third time was the charm, but took us 29 minutes, 11 seconds. WHM had to raise everyone after party wiped shortly after killing middle sheep. What had happened was the sheep that we were bringing up next to be killed somehow didn't follow the RDM and instead went after the other >< After everyone was raised and weakness gone, MNK 2HR'd the next sheep and died when it had a sliver of health left. I managed to get a Thunder II off on it to kill it, then we all ran down to take the sheep off of the first RDM while the other raised the MNK again. I 2HR'd the sheep, Freeze was resisted, Aeroga II, Thunder II, Aeroga II, and the ******* still had 1/3 HP lol. Took hate (big surprise lol), died, deleveled, and MNK's weakness finally wore while the last sheep was chasing the RDM's and WHM's down since the PLD got whacked during all of this. One RDM died, MNK chased the sheep down, but was too late, as our remaining RDM and our WHM just used the most powerful spells in their ******* to finish it off. MNK hauled *** back up the hill to the entire party saying "GO GO GO!" to open the chest, Forest Stone, Rogue's Ring, Gold Ingot, and Mythril Ingot.

A few pointers on this...

I am a BLM, and I can honestly say I am not the greatest choice for DD on this, due to having to have a poison potion on to resist sleep but still needing to rest MP. Sure, I did some damned good damage, but just ran out of juice lol. Secondly, it is VERY important you have the RDM's run in with the PLD and get the other two sheep out of there so the DD's can get to work on the main sheep.

Another thing... Good luck getting a spell off if you are the PLD or RDM's with a sheep that gravity has worn on :P They eat through buffs and interrupt casting, so RDM's just have to be extremely lucky with Gravity sticking. This BCNM is very tough with this particular setup, and I would almost suggest (even for fear of getting rated down) that a different kiter be chosen. There's just not enough room to maneuver, and the sheep spam sheep charge and lamb chop, so there's a knockback effect too :P Might even need a THF/NIN, perhaps Icarus Wing and Shadowstitch the little buggers. Not exactly suggesting this, just tossing an idea out.

Drops were good at least lol... Oh, and we set the record on Asura. I'm glad the recommended strategy has worked for other people, but it sure didn't work that great for us. Good luck if you try this ^^

BST party-able?
# May 26 2005 at 9:53 PM Rating: Decent
I've heard that some bst parties have had success with bcnm40 - Steamed Sprouts, so has anyone tried this bcnm with a bst party?

I have been thinking it over and I think it could be done with -

bst, bst, smn, pld, whm, rdm

My idea is to have the two bsts each go in and charm one of the sheep, then have those two sheep attack the third one. The smn could use carby (w/carby gloves) to also attack the third or kite if needed. The rdm could refresh and kite any sheep that lost it's charm, and the pld could come in and emergency tank where needed. Also the bsts could use jug pets where needed as well. Poison potions would probably still be necessary of course, but I think it could work if all the necessary precautions were taken.

Please reply to this post if anyone has any thoughts on this idea, or if anyone has tried anything similiar and what the results were.

I did this bcnm three times.
3 wins about 2.5million in drops.

Here are my observations...

The party:
SAM/WAR
PLD/WAR
WHM/SMN
RDM/BLM
RDM/BLM
RNG/NIN

We have been friends for a long time and knew how to work with eachother.

Decent gear for level 50.

Basic food, poison potions, etc.

The enemy:

Three sheep... they're pretty normal... except...

They rarely use anything but the sheep move called "Sheep charge"(or was it lamb chop? i dunno)... which had medium damage and a small knockback... about 100-150 to a 50 PLD.

They will use AoE sleep which is why poison potions are very important.

They're probably equal to a T sheep... really taken down without too much trouble.

The battle plan:

The main job of the redmages is to keep the other sheep busy while the other four people kill them... heres how it goes:

Go to the edge of the ring after having all buffs cast.

one RDM picks the right or left and the other RDM picks the opposite side.

The tank picks the Middle always.

Start off by having tank run in there and voke the middle, then each rdm casts gravity on the appropriate sheep IMMEDIATLY.

after the sheep are gravitized, the rdms should now run down the slope and almost out of sight for the sheep... where you can just target it.

once you reach the bottom, just run around the sheep and continue doing this.

make sure to have stoneskin and blink up at all times.

Once gravity wears, you should be far away and see him moving fast, just recast it.

In the event that you get put to sleep, cancel stoneskin immediatly.(Poison pot will wake you up.)

The first sheep should be dead in 3-4 minutes.

Once he is dead, take the sheep off of the rdm closest to you and begin with that one.

Now the second rdm has two choices, help the other rdm(still kiting the sheep) or heal the party, debuff, refresh, etc...

well, it's very situational.

Take a look at their health, mp, and the health and status of the other RDM. Use your own judgment to keep everyone alive.

After the second sheep is dead, you are going to be low on MP and just convert and take over for the whm... and it's pretty hard to lose at this point.

Wrap up:

1. party had 2 RDMs. very important.

2. use poison potions to counter sleep.

3. 2HR on your first orb just so you get the hang of it.

4. fights should take 9-10 minutes.

5. STAY OUT OF RANGE OF SLEEP.

Good luck

Well a lot of posts say that a DRG is useful in this fight, but I learned the hard way that a DRG CANNOT sub WHM here and hope to survive, the draggy will cure your poison potions and keep you asleep.

If they were saying that drg is useful it will probably be for penta thrust maybe. Not sure cause i havent done it yet.

DRG/Mage comes good when we get our AF helm at 60. The wyvern will cure ppl at 50% health than, rather than ppl at 1/3 health.
That's not at all to say drg/mage is bad pre 60. but im guessing if drg was recommended it would be for penta which we get at 49. Plz drgs out there have and acc+ gear you can afford for this though

3/4 with this setup
We lost on last one because we got really cocky as a Banish 2 would of finished the mob.

NIN/WAR
RNG/NIN
SAM/WAR
WHM/BLM
RDM/NIN
RDM/BLM

Did the strategy of the 2nd poster and it went relatively smoothly.

Keys to Victory:
Poison Potion
Proper Kiting
Keep the Ninja Hasted at all times (These things have incredible accuracy as they never missed me once)

We set the new record on Valefor with 8 minutes and 50 seconds.

Biggest prizes were the Ocean Stone (1.5mil) and the Forest Stone (1.2mil)

We also did one with a SMN/WHM kiter instead of a RDM/BLM. Worked very well too.

Thanks to Obakeken, Kutetsu, Madmartigan, Overdose, Zeo and Chodo on Valefor. GJ!

ok to be honest BCNM 50 Hostile Herbivores is easier then you think. Infact I have taken the time to devise the perfect way to win, with just about any type of melees.

ok for starters you do follow the basic plan of having two rdms gravity two sheeps and run up and down hill while the rest of you fight the other sheep. but as we all know something usually goes wrong with that plan and party ends up dead.

so heres what you do. set your party up like this pld/war or nin/war , whm/blm, 2 melee DD's i ve won it with just about any melee DD there is but rangers and dragoons do really well, and 2 rdm/blm.

OK you start battle by buffing up with whm and rdms castin all defensive spells they got, BLINK and Stoneskin are essential and should be worn at all times. Whm casts reraise as well as his buffs.
now rdms cast gravity and run down hill , tank vokes middle sheep. And everyone puts on poison. AT this point its vital the only normal atks are used on sheep untill the other two sheep clear the way. NO cure no nothin just normal atks otherwise the other two sheep will lose hate on rdm and atk party. Not good. So only normal atks. the tank should draw the fight to the outter edge of the circle. Once the other two sheep clear DD's begin to unload on sheep.

MEANWHILE... the two rdms are going down the hill, they should run to the bottom quickly. at the bottom of the hill the rdm's should wait on opposite sides of the pathway so there sheep will split up and it will be easy for each rdm to know what sheep is his. Mixing up sheep results in death. but by them standing apart they can easily tell which one is theres. Now with that in mind, once they see there sheep they should hit there elemental seal, and then cast bind. The sheep will get bound and then the rdm runs back up to the top. and waits for his sheep. then he hits gravity and runs back down. During each trip the rdm will recast stoneskin and blink even phalanx (if possible).

Now with melees doin ther job they should be able to take down the first sheep. Once that sheep is dead they send a call out to bring another sheep. your tank runs down and vokes a sheep and takes that sheep back to the edge of circle. then that rdm comes to help heal.

Now if all goes smooth you be able to repeat what you did against the first sheep and kill the second one, and then move on to the third.

But as we all know, things don't always go to plan, everyone dies, and you end up losing the orb battle.

Well with the whm wearing reraise, if the party dies, that doesn't mean the battle is over yet^^. Once you are dead the sheep will return to the burning circle. At that point the whm gets back up, runs over and raises a rdm, then that rdm runs over and raises the other rdm, who then raises a melee. Now keep in mind the rdm's must have some mp gear on to do this or they wont have enough mp, but most rdms got mp gear with em. But make sure your rdms are wearin it b4 the enter battle.

once everyone gets raised you heal and wait till sickness wears. the rdm refreshes the whm then the rdms use convert. the whm uses divine seal and couraga. to quickly heal party.

Then you buff up and at it again. Now at this point you don't have much time left so you must hurry and kill each sheep left. Usually there are two left. 1 rdm takes sheep down heal and uses his elemental seal and bind the other 5 of you fight sheep and kill it quickly. I recommend that the rdm nuke using there strongest spells. Once second sheep dies you get the 3rd and finish the battle, usually with about 5 min to spare.

Now keep in mind that the reraise whm trick only can work if 1st sheep dies, and provided that no one dies in burning circle. Which is why i said to fight on edge of circle. If anyone is about to die they can run outside circle and die. Obviously if you die don't HP. Oh btw if you die you only lose 500xp. Now death aint the plan but it's nice to have a plan incase it happens lol. But also keep in mind that if you are fighting the second sheep and 2 people have died or something really bad happens, it could be in your parties best interest to hurry up and die so that you can get up faster. If death is inevitable die quickly so you can get up sooner and finish fight. This thing is timed for 30 min.

I have done this plan many times. And it has worked all the time. the only time it doesnt work is if you dont kill first sheep. Anyway, I hope this strategy is helpfull for those who dont know about it and wanna win this bcnm. Good luck

*a couple notes,

1 Rdm/whm needs alot of Int+ gear to be able to stick their spells and has no Elemental seal (so not recomended)

2 Stoneskin absorbs Poison, so when i got slept with stoneskin on poison DID NOT wake me up !! (PT Death),

3 im wondering if BSt would be betr kiters than RDm, as they dont need to land spells and they wouldnt even get any hate (can anyone speak on this, like how many hits yur pet can take while kiteing?

Comment on #3. A bst kiter would probably work. It would be manditory that this is the next sheep to kill. Not sure how long a pet would hold out so the bst would have to use their mp wizely or they will be dead meat as well the rest of party.

Great BCNM gone wrong...
# Jan 19 2005 at 9:59 PM Rating: Decent
I tried this with 2 RDM, 1 BLM, NIN, RNG, DRK. Went horribly. I knew nothing about this so the RNG clued me in and told me everything to do. I repeatedly asked "What if it resists Gravity?". He assured me that the sheep won't resist it and i'll do fine. Well, that wasn't good enough for me so I asked him "Well if it does, what should i do? Chainspell > Gravity until it lands?" His response: "Sure, but it'll land. Trust me". Well we entered and me and the RDM grabbed the 2 sheep with gravity and NIN voked it. Thinking i was safe to run around, i keep getting hit. Gravity definitely didn't land. Not to mention i'm a Taru RDM and subbed BLM with enfeebling capped. I also had Boiled Crab on, was taking about 130 DMG. (They tore through Blink and Stoneskin fast, not to mention i had Phalanx on) Well i chainspelled and casted and FINALLY! It landed. We were doing good, except for the fact I had about 1/2 HP and the other RDM 3/4 HP. We're running around, doing our job. So the other RDM's gravity is ready to recast so he does, it resists. That RDM get's beat to death, so then i get his sheep and go down fast. Next, the two sheep start killing the BLM. then they go after the tank, then DRK, then last... the RNG. Then i thought to myself... I thought this guy knew what he was talking about?

Well, there are many things i would've done different... Like sub NIN for utsusemi. Next, get a RDM to heal instead of BLM (Why he didn't choose RDM or WHM from the start is beyond me, wasn't available maybe?) for Convert and Refresh so he'll be good on HP til the other 2 RDMs get there. The RDM healer could also use Reraise scroll incase of death. Also, get rid of the DRK and get DRG for Super Jump and it's damage. Next, have both the Kiting RDM's sub NIN for Utsusemi. Also, have the NIN tank enter actually arena to voke the sheep before RDM enter so it's shadows can eat the hits until RDM's get gravity casted so that the RDM's shadows don't go away just yet. And i think that would work.

Too bad the pt that made me waste about 13k and EXP on this fight didn't want to try again and didn't invite me to do it the next time they did. Maybe I was too much of a newb XD ^^

I also have a question for everyone who's done this BCNM, is there anything better to do if Gravity is resisted besides Chainspell > Gravity? I tried Bind, but it was interrupted so i decided 2 hour was only option.

BTW, my Character's name is Jeckal on Quetzelcoatl. ATM 54RDM/27WHM or 27BLM.

Did this two nights ago, party set up was Rdm/blm, rdm/whm, whm/blm, Drg/thf(me), Rng/nin, Pld/war. This fight is very easy and simple as long as you dont ***** up and even if you do theres a back up plan.

-First when you get in, buff yourself, have the 2 rdm cast stoneskin, blink, and phalanx, and have them eat a jack-o-lantern the extra evasion helps....alot. After the whm buffs have them refresh the whm and pld along with themselves, head on up to the main arena have 1 rdm pull the left one with gravity, have 1 rdm pull the right one with gravity, have the pld provoke the first one. Lead them down the hill refresh, rebuff, recast gravity when the sheep get down there if ur using rdm/blm(good choice) use elemental seal and bind, keep the sheep there for a while, and watch them. Everyone else wacks away at the sheep while the whm stands in a safe distance incase he/she has to heal the rdms or the melee in an emergency. If the ranger is using a gun dont spam bullets on the sheep cause they will kill the rng quick. The dragoon is the ideal job along with monk for these BCNM since they deal very good damage to mobs who are flesh based(mostly animals like sheep, and crawlers). I was using mythril lance, brigandine, elvaan rse pants, winged boots, emp hairpin, and beetle earings+1 with sniper rings, The food I used was Squid sushi for more penta thrust hits to land, and I was thf sub for SA. Use normal attacks on the first sheep until the sheep uses berserk this is the time for the ranger to use Barrage with gun, followed by SA Penta thrust from the dragoon, then Super Jump and hate goes back to the paladin, My penta thrusts did 600-800 when the sheep used berserk and 480-600 when it was normal. the sheep are easy to defeat if you have the plan thought out and u stick to it, once the first sheep is down take the next sheep off the rdm who has the least MP. in our case the mithra had less than the hume so we took hers first. WHM should definately cast reraise at the start. If you all die, try to die outside of the main arena, and fight the first sheep at the edge of the arena not inside, if you die for some reason, ur whm can raise him or herself and bring u all back to life just in time. A mistake occured in one of ours where the pld voked one and I attacked the wrong one by accident. we died but the whm had reraise, raised us all and we finished it. Got 2 ocean stones out of 4 successes this is the flawless strategy to winning just make sure u have a drg rng and rdms who know what they are doing. You dont want a drg that doesnt use super jump at the right time or a rng who spams gunshots or arrows from a war bow.
