This is a very fun BCNM and, if done correct, is very easy. It's been awhile since I've done it, but it was easy. We took a balanced EXP party, along with a few extra DD because there were about 8 of us that wanted to do it. Basic set up of each fight was like this:

SMN/WHM
BLM/WHM
WHM/BLM
NIN/WAR
DD
DD

A few post down, someone has already completed a strategy. This is the strategy we used, but we adjusted it a bit.

You should kill them in this order: BLM (Sable-tounged Gonberry), THF(Virid-faced Shanberry), SMN(Vermillion-eared Noberry), NIN(Cyaneous-toed Yallberry).

Once you enter, everyone should buff up and rest to full. BLM runs in first and uses Sleepga II on all of them. ES isn't really needed because Sleepga II lasted for a long time on all of our runs. NIN then ran in and provoked the BLM and brought him back to the entrance after waking him up with Ninjutsu. Everyone engaged and fought like a normal EXP mob. One note, keep him silenced at all times. He does casts some very nasty spells and we were lucky we never ate them. When he uses Manafont, just be sure he is silenced and it's nothing to worry about. If silence doesn't stick, have everyone disengage and re-sleep it if possible. We had no problem with silence though, so hopefully you won't have to re-sleep it.

After the BLM is dead, our NIN ran in and provoked the THF and woke him up the same way. This guy was a bit harder than the BLM because he had evasion out the ***. When he had about 1/4 health remaining, he used Perfect Dodge. Nothing we could do, so all the DD disengaged except the NIN. Once it wore off, we continuted to kill him.

If I remember correctly, here is where the other ones began to wake up. Sleepga II will put them back to sleep, no problem. If not, just Sleep II the NIN so you can begin on the SMN.

Again, if I remember correctly, the SMN might summon an elemental during the fight. If it does, just have your tank provoke it and have your BLM Sleep II it. I don't think it summons an elemental because when it's almost dead, it will summon a random Avatar and use Astral Flow. There isn't much we could do about this, so we just had to eat it and hope for the best. Rarely did it every REALLY damage us. If it does, though, Sleepga II and disengage to heal back up.

Once the SMN is dead, all you have left is the NIN. He will use all Ninjutsu including Utsusmei, which is annoying. Once again, fight him like a regular EXP mob. Yet again, he will use his 2hr when he either has 1/2 or 1/4 health. Just like the SMNs 2hr, we just ate this 2hr because it rarely did much damage.

With this strategy, it's almost a sure win. We even had one of our runs almost turn out bad. All of us were killed by the SMNs Astral Flow, but our WHM had RR on. We had enough time to get back up and finish the fight easy. The drops are very nice, just hope that you don't get a few low selling Torques. In my experience, you can make from 500k - 2M on Leviatian. Fun BCNM, just the location is a *****.
No RSE

I wanted to confirm that this BCNM does not drop the RSE feet. The BCNM which drops the RSE is BCNM 60 - Brothers D'Aurphe in Qu'Bia Arena. Two torques will drop from this BCNM with each run, and possibly an elemental ore. Hope this clears up some things. Good luck to all who take on the tonberrys ^^.

We did this with the following set up:
Whm/Blm
Rdm/Blm
Blm/WHm
Blm/Whm
Nin/War
Drk/Thf(Me)

It was quite easy, we just lost once cuz the sleeping of the tons went wrong XD

We killed the blm first. Rdm kept it silenced, too easy. Next was thf, he was easy too except his evasion was annoying. Then came the nin. He could be a bit of pain. He does an AoE Mijin Gakure so it is IMPORTANT to have barfira on. It was that move that screwed us the time sleep went wrong <,<
Then last was summoner, he usually did astral flow with a random avatar so really best to just keep hp as high as possible. We had just me and the nin near the Nin and Smn when fighting so everyone didn't get hit. Also keep the summoners elemental slept.
With those simple steps its quite easy. Time is no problem in this BCNM. If your running out of mp(which u probably will with 1 or 2 tons left), just sleep them and rest up. And most of all dont panic! Number 1 cause of BCNM wipes <,<

I myself made about 1.5 mil off my run ^^

Name of this BC is "Jungle Boogymen"

We did an LS BC on this 9 times. It also drops hi-reraisers, jadeites and mythril/steel ingots. None of the elemental ores or RSE level 2 gear dropped for any of us though.
Dump out

After you beat this BCNM where are you dumped out at?
way around
# Dec 07 2004 at 11:33 PM Rating: Decent
hehe no reason to hold secrets the way around lighitng the torches everytime is.. right after you kill all the mobs in the bc do not open chest. have one person in your party go back to the door you came in and have them Run Away! everyone else stay and open chest then leave. that one person can open the door for people when they walk around. reason to have everyone leave xcept one is so that you can have enough people to kill the guarding statue to open the door.
my way

We did this as whm/blm/rdm/sam/pld/rng. did it 6 times and never failed. Only thign that got us was the smn two hours but we still manage. MP is a big issue every battle we get down to last mob and have no mp so we have to keep it slept until mages have mp. All blm do was keep mobs slept thats it. You dont have to light the torches everytime. theres a way around it. we got about 3 mil in total from drops so it was a good run. this bc does not drop rse2.

What's the way around not lighting the torches each time?

Also, do you think a Nin tank would work instead of a Pld?
RE: my way
# Dec 06 2004 at 1:50 AM Rating: Decent
Just recently figured that there is a way around lighting the torches every time. Or at least one way. That way is to have someone stand on the inside of the Chamber and just open the door with the lever when the party approaches. In terms of BCNM, this'd mean 7 people, 6 for the party and one to open the door.

Maybe there's other ways?

As for tanking, I've only done it with PLD, but I don't see why a NIN tank would have trouble.

Finally, as for gil made for my party when we did it 4 times (3 successful times) we each made around 300k (selling all items and splitting the gil profit). Think we're gonna give it another few shots with someone keeping the door open for us. ^^

Good luck anyone doing this BCNM.

I'm a taru NIN62. Didn't die once out of 9 runs. /em knocks on wood. Just have a good PT behind you and you'll do great. We weren't trying to break records, but more so be cautious. Our clear times were 11-13 minutes each.

Been there, done that ^^

A party of us just did this tonight. What is very annoying about this BCNM is that you must basically do ZM4 every time you want to do this. I.e. 4 people must have Unlit lanterns, they must be lit and turned into Rancor flame, Rancor flame must be used to light 4 lanterns to get into Sacrificial Chamber. This is the hard part of this BCNM, and it takes some time. The fight isn't bad at all.

Set up was as follows:

PLD/WAR
RDM/BLM
WHM/BLM (me)
BLM/WHM
THF/NIN
THF/NIN

We fought the 4 Tonberries in a very specific order: Black Mage, Thief, Summoner, Ninja (order of least dangerous to most dangerous 2 hour). After the usual buffs and resting inside, the Paladin ran in provoked Sable-tounged Gonberry (job: Black Mage). Our Black Mage went ahead with the Paladin and used Sleepga II. He didn't even need Elemental Seal to make it stick.

The trick to Gonberry is to stun him when he begins to cast Ancient Magic and to keep him Silenced. Red Mage kept him silenced, Black Mage stunned him, Paladin kept hate, the Thieves just attacked, built TP and SA/ SATA off each other. As White Mage, I did the usual cure-monkey stuff. If other Tonberries woke up, Black Mage would Sleepga, Sleepga II, Sleep, Sleep II whatever was needed. Very standard.

We took Virid-faced Shanberry (job: Thief) next. Same thing as above with more cure-monkey and less need for Stun, Silence, etc... It's pretty common.

This is where we would keep the remaining Tonberries asleep and rested up. When we were ready (not full rest but mostly full), we took Vermillion-eared Noberry (job: Summoner). This fight began with SATA+Dancing Edge to throw hate on Paladin. The important part for this fight was to keep HP up high as Noberry will use Astral Flow and it will put people in the yellow, orange and occasionally red. Sleep the other Tonberry, sleep Noberry's Elemental, the usual.

We would keep the last Tonberry asleep and rest as much as we wanted. When we were ready, we started the fight with the last Tonberry, Cyaneous-toed Yallberry (job: Ninja) with SATA+Dancing Edge again. In this fight, as a White Mage, my job was to cure the Paladin for the first half of Yallberry's life. Once he was down to half life, the Paladin led him away from the mages in case of Mijin Gakure. We'd heard horror stories about it, so mages stayed back, melee risked it. When TP was up again, the two Thieves would WS off each other with Dancing Edge+Dancing Edge. The Ninja only Mijin Gakure'd once and it did a lot of damage, but didn't kill anyone.

We fought this 4 times, we won 3 times, died once. When we died, it was because the Gonberry, the Black Mage Tonberry didn't stay silenced and got off two Ancient Magics then a Weapon Skill attack on the Paladin. We had no other problems with him.

Here are the things I found most important.

1. The prep time for even getting to Sacrificial Chamber is a pain and more dangerous than the fight itself.
2. Every Tonberry will use its 2 hour if it gets a chance. They all link and aggro.
3. We got some decent drops (like elemental torques), but none of the big ticket footgear items listed (which is why we chose this BCNM).
4. Every time you fight in this BCNM, to do it again, you have to go through the lantern lighting again.
5. There's probably any number of party combinations that would work just fine in this BCNM.
6. There is plenty of time. Our party rested a lot and still managed to clear it in 20 minutes.

That's about all I can really say. I'm not sure how much money 3 runs were worth yet as we're still selling on the AH. Maybe I could follow up with the end cash results. Anyway, I hope this helps anyone wanting to do this BCNM.

Has anyone done this BCNM? If so could you Sleep/Gravity/Stun/Bind any of these guys? Are they really slow can you Kite them? I've thought about this for a while and assuming nobody can be slept or bind for any period this is what I'm thinking...

1. Ninja kites Thief Tonberry
2. Paladin kites Ninja Tonberry
3. Samurai kites Summoner & Elemental (tries to keep away from everyone else to avoid AOE from Elem)
4. Red Mage supports the runners with Gravity and healing.
5. Ranger goes all out on Black Mage Tonberry (mabye 2hr)
6. Black Mage goes all out on Black Mage Tonberry (mabye 2hr)
7. After Blm Ton dies Samurai keeps kiting while Rng and Blm kill the Summoner Tonberry.
8. Kill summoners pet.
9. Pld tanks Thf Ton while Rng,Blm and Sam kill.
10. Pld tanks Ninja while everyone kills from far away and behind using ranged attacks (in case he uses 2hr). If 2hr kills Pld Ninja jumps in to tank.

I just came up with this off the top of my head... if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. Can you cast sleep or other status effects on elementals? Can any of these Tonberry's be slept? That would change things. What do you think?

you can Sleep them, Tonberry being light based, Lullaby won't work very well, very important to have a RDM or BLM but some kind of sleep on top of it.

BRD is still useful because Lullaby can't be interrupted. if you have only a BLM and Sleepga II gets interrupted you'll probably lose.

Can anyone confirm the drop of the Race feet items listed here? I'm in the Siren server and we have yet to see one in AH. Its not even listed which leads me to believe its not unlocked yet. Its also not listed in the Bahamut server since i have a friend that plays there and checked for me. Any ideas? I want to do the BCNM but only if i can get those drops.
