Summary

You have been asked to return a dropped item to its rightful owner. The passenger should be on the next airship flight.

Walkthrough

Passing through Customs you run into Pygmalion who says he found something that was dropped by a passenger on the airship and asks you return it.

  • If you agree, he shows you a picture of the passenger and asks you to make sure you've memorized the picture.

Once you board the Airship and it takes off:

  • You will find several passengers on the ship all wearing similar, but not exactly the same attire.
  • When you talk to the one you think it is, you are given the option of returning the item.
  • If you find the right one, he thanks you and gives you 500G reward.

You can also start this quest from the Airship Port in San d'Oria, Bastok, and Kazham.

i undertook this quest while heading back to Jeuno from Kahzam one time (airship pass can be obtained by obtaining the 3 keys....). I was a rank 2 at the time. You do not need a high rank or high fame to complete this easy quest. (hint: to insure you pick the right passenger, simply remember the color of the mithra's scarf).
What if you do it wrong?

I was wondering... if you don't succeed in giving the item to the passenger OR you mistake the passenger, will your fame go down?

I am worried since two times I didn't give the passengers the items (I forgot) and other two times I just confounded them and gave the item to the wrong one.
whats wrong

Check and make sure you don't have the Discerning Eye Quests active anywhere else, including Kazham.

Check your key items for a dropped item, and if you already have it, then you can't get the quest until you finish the one you already started.

Okay, maybe this is a stupid, n00bish question, but how do you check your fame level? To my knowledge, it's not written anywhere in the game, so how do you all know what your fame is?
Confirmed!

The title "Very Discerning Individual" can be gotten by discerning one citizen of every race.
I think "Extremely Discerning Individual" comes from discerning each face type, but I'm not sure.

I know this because I did many, many non-taru versions of this. (Taru equipment is small!) Finally I succeeded on a taru one and got "Very Discerning."
Hmm

Just a side note... I haven't completed this quest, but I have received it. Got it when I was probably level 14 or 15, I don't really remember. I can't ride an air ship yet, but I'd fallen into the ocean in Port Windhurst in front of the fisher's guild and ended up teleported back onto land on the air ship dock. Talked to the guy on the deck, and he gave me the quest. Slightly annoying because now I have to remember who until I can actually ride the air ship, heh.
Hmm

You can also talk to Pygmalion again; this deactivates the quest. He'll say thanks anyway, and that he'll leave the item with the authorities.
rank5

Hello all all you need is rank5 not fame for airship pass.

Humm No.

All you need is a Airship pass. Kazham will do just fine. Any rank will do.
Need Higher LVL JOB
# Jun 15 2004 at 12:32 AM Rating: Default
You have to have a job of lvl ~20 maybe 25 to get this quest. I've gotten it many times, but if I try to get it with a lower lvl job he won't give it to me.
Lowers Fame?
# Apr 22 2004 at 2:11 AM Rating: Decent
Is it possible that this quest(and the others like it) actually lowers fame? I had level 3 fame in Windurst, did this quest a few times, then came back to find I have level 2 fame.

I find that unlikely solely because there is no poetic logic to it. You are helping two NPCs out in the quest by doing a good deed. Why would that make your fame go down? However, I am beginning to believe that doing the Mihgo's Amigo quest will lower your Windurst fame.

Windurst <<< =P
not L1
# Apr 10 2004 at 6:13 PM Rating: Default
Shouldn't be set as Min Level = 1, because it's highly unlikely that a L1 can get an airship pass.

You can have an airship pass and ride the airship with a level one job, and still do the quest.
airship pass?
# Mar 31 2004 at 6:02 PM Rating: Default
so do you need an airship pass to do this?

I *may* be wrong, but you must have Fame of LV5 to get the airship pass...

Actually, the Airship Pass is a reward for completing the rank 4 magicite missions. You receive the pass along with Rank 5.

You can also pay 500k to get a pass. Or use the Kazham pass which is any level (just get keys).

Yes, that's the only way you will be able to board the airship.
