Mission Orders

Prince Trion seeks an adventurer. Find the prince in his chamber to learn more.

Walkthrough

Accept the mission from any gate guard, then head to Prince Trion's chambers in Chateau d'Oraguille. Prince Trion asks you to find King Ranperre's true burial place.

Head to (H-8) in King Ranperre's Tomb where you will find a large door. Examine the door and 3 NM Skeletons (Corrupted Ulbrig, Corrupted Soffeil, and Corrupted Yorgos) will spawn. These skeletons are not particularly easy, but you should have no trouble with a 12-member alliance of level 60 players. That said, an 18-member alliance will make things easier because each party can battle one of the skeletons. The skeletons can use Sleepga, so make sure that your mages are out of range of that AoE.

Once you have defeated the NMs, target the door again, and you will be given the option to pass through. Pass through, and you will find a tombstone. Examine the tombstone, and you will receive a cutscene and a key item (Ancient San d'Orian Book). Return to San d'Oria and talk to any of the mission guards. They will tell you that the book will need to be deciphered, and will ask you to come back at a later time. Wait until after Japanese Midnight, and return to the gate guard, then head to Prince Trion's chambers for another cutscene.

Head back to the door at (H-8) in King Ranperre's Tomb and pass through it again for another cutscene (there is no battle when targeting the door this time). Once the cutscene is over, return to the gate guard to receive Rank 7 and 20,000 gil.

They're not kidding about this. I estimate at least one game week for the deciphering to complete, as four hours later they still weren't done. I just went to sleep and checked back in the morning.

Wait time on this is probably that of any other wait time. You will need to come back after 12am in Japan when the timers reset
was not too hard

Did this with a 12 man alliance tonight.
Lowest was 54, majority was 60's.

Far as I can tell, you have to kill one of them at least.

Sneak the trigger man and have him tap the door. Then pull one skeleton with silence and slam it (it was an easy fight for us).
Once its dead, wait for the two remaining to despawn (they vanished shortly after we finished fighting the first one) and click the door while theres still time on the clock.
Easy

Our party was: 75rdm, 69drk, 69nin, two 61whms.

We cure pulled the first two and the third one depopped before we got to it. The door still let us through, even though we never killed the third.

Very little danger involved if you fight them one at a time, any party strong enough to do 6-1 should have no problem with 6-2.

Apparently you have to kill at least one of them, because just waiting for them to despawn did NOT work (got the message 'its a solid rock door' when targeting the door after despawn.. could not open it) Gonna go out on a limb and try this with nothing but a 69 PLD and 62 WHM (should be 'easy prey' for the PLD.. so MAYBE possible O_o), pulling one at a time...cursor pointing at "Escape" already ^^

Bestiary here says 'linking' (uncommon for skeletons) but if cure won't work, I guess I'll have to send my level 8 carbuncle in ; ;

Update: Cast sneak, popped NMs.. pulled the middle one clean (did NOT link when I cure-pulled), and took it down slowly with just the PLD and me.. both of us used 2hrs, and PLD was at 50% after the fight.. Mostly due to the nachzehrers and bats who decided to pop constantly while I tried to rest for mana ><

The fight was pretty long, but there was no problem with taking a lot of damage at a time, I could have escaped us out without interruption at any time.. After that one was dead, the others had vanished (I think they disappeared when he was at 25% or something).. but we managed to open the door.

So, basically: As long as you kill ONE of the skellies, you're good.
Cure

we did this with 12 lvl 60 people. have the person who touches the door use sneak, everone else stand back, and have someone pull one at a time with Cure. we took some time killing 2 so the 3rd one had already despawned and we didn't have to kill it. piece of cake.
Bugged mission

K...there is a bug with this mission...it is similar to the bug with one of the NIN AF items in yhoator jungle.

Steps to solo these skeletons are as follows:
1) Sneak
2) Touch door
3) Move back
4) Wait for time to elapse after which the skeletons will vanish without you having to do any killing
5) Walk through door...you are finished

Get a Summoner and pull with Carby. You can do this mission with 10 people at lvl 60 or so if you do it this way.

Also after you're done click on the door to get a cut scene and a key item. You go to Trion's room the Chateau then you go back to the gate guard and he'll tell you it'll take some time to decipher it. My friend told me it takes 24 hours real life but not sure as I am still waiting myself as well.

We did this, pulled one with carby, was very easy for just 8 people (that completed the 6-1 battle almost all in red hp)...as whm/smn i barely used 200 mp. Before I could send carby in to pull next they poofed! We all clicked on door...mission: done.

Just for your info,

Undead don't sleep. Can't poison or bio them either. Have to be living to be able to be slept.

For that matter, undead are immuned to any 'dark' spell. Drain, Aspir.

Stick to light and fire spells and your good. Bind will work, dia2 works wonders. Firaga, Banish2, paralyze. Those all work great. Sleep will never work.

I was unable to sleep the left and right NMs as a BRD59 with CHR+30, Mary's Horn and Apollo's Staff. I tried at least 4 times, always resisted. Don't rely on Lullaby for this fight.

Well, not entirely true on a couple of accounts.

1) Bio will work on them, it's just like Dia ya know, when the spell is cast on you the debuff is automatically stuck. However, it is wise to not use Bio (dark-type magic) on undead for obvious reasons.

2) Yes, you can poison undead, it's just not common, it's also quite hard, hence why typically RDMs can do it and most other jobs can't.

3) Undead are sleep-able, just incredibly difficult if you're not a BRD. Sleep, Sleepga, Sleep II, and Sleepga II are dark-element based spells (not Dark Magic, these are considered Enfeebling spells), and undead have a high resistence to dark-type magic. However, Foe/Horde lullaby is light-based, which why a BRD's sleep is almost 100% guaranteed to the undead.^^

A Bard can indeed sleep undead. A Bard's Lullaby is a light-based spell, whereas the magic-type sleep spells are dark-based (and consequently don't work).

It just sounds like these things are highly resistent to sleep.
Fighto!

saw some japanese people fight this minutes ago, took them down in a little over 2 game hours.

wished them good luck in my crappy japanese before the fight^^

they had some lv 75 monks and a few Vermillion dudes and pimps, 1 drg that i noticed.
in the battle only one got below 50% hp that i noticed while running trough the targets.

after the fight they returned to their daily synthing infront of the AH^^

yea...so i was camping the spook/ghost/gruel with my RL friend and i knew about the higher level area of king ronperres, so when i saw about 12 people in high level and AF i figured i would follow em and see what they were up to... yea they spawned the skellies...for some reason i forgot, i had really low health, and the skeletons did an AOE blood drain that killed me real good...just be warned it was doing about 100 to the high levels

We had an alliance of 18, and things got hairy for a little bit, but we pulled it out. At the time I had 100 CHR on my level 67 bard, and the 2 NM's resisted every lullaby I threw at them...even with the disco ball 2 hour. So, be prepared to take out all 3 skeletons at the same time.
