Leepe-Hoppe wants you to take on Carbuncle's request to gather the six "whispers," then pay a visit to the Full Moon Fountain...

You must collect 6 whispers from each of the 6 Prime avatar battles. Do not speak to the battle NPC or they will take your whisper. Bring them to Leepe-Hoppe and he will give you a key item: Moon Bauble. This will allow you to go into Full Moon Fountain and battle with Fenrir Prime.

Upon defeating Fenrir Prime, return to Leepe-Hoppe and collect one of the following prizes:

You can receive a moon bauble once a day just as all the other avatar fights with their tuning forks.

Some say you need all 75s. Some say you need a lot of summoners and a red mage. Some say you need a strategy.

The only one you need is the strategy!

75WHM/37BLM (Me), 75PLD/37NIN, 75DRG/36WHM, 70WAR/30DNC, 70MNK/37WHM, BLU66/30NIN.

We dry ran this twice before going all out, just to get a feel for it. As the white mage, I stayed outside for the first. The second i went in, and zoned out once they died and I raised them once they got out. Then the fun began. We ate and buffed outside, Protectra V and Shellra IV. The DDs used Sole Sushi, the PLD used Tav Taco. I put on RR3, for we planned to wipe and regain after Fenny's two hour. They pulled him into the little tunnel at the very end. The pld went in and did his thing, the other guys attacked, used what magic they needed. It was my job to sit there at the portal and do nothing. :x

The pld died and fenny two hr'd. Everyone dropped like flies. I was expecting him to run and attack me, but he didnt. I got started on raising everyone, and we all rested to full. I buffed and they ate. More sushi and tacos. This time, we went to the main room, I stayed towards the end of the tunnel (not near porter) They two houred at will, staggering a bit. The pld ended up dying, and the rest of the team finished him off. I was soooo happy ^-^ We immediately went to try out our new pets! [Linkshells for ze win.]

We lost to Puppy!

Just lost to shiva ;(! 4 smns and me (48 rdm) took on him! The fight was harsh and i died early on keeping the smns mp alive. It got down to such a low life i even started to celebrate then suddently or best smn lost mp and his levy who had been tanking died. Feny walked along and the other 3 summoners made a stand They turned and summoned levithan and looked death in the eyes. Levy 2hred and all three droped dead my suggestion is dont cure to take hate keep refresh on and go into it with 5 lvl 75's then your safe! Also very important have smns in the case of smn burn party a small distance apart that way not all will die at same time. Also at begining have a levithan take hate and dont 2 hr with that levy 2hr with the other ones or levy will die and the msn will die. Just a brief lesson on the mechanics on my advice for the fight...

To all who ask you do not lose moon bauble upon death or if you loose the fight!
Fenir?!?! Why cant i get him!

I'm confused. I know I need 5 more whispers because I have one whisper already, then I can fight Fenrir. However as summoner I should be able to use my two hour twice in 2 minutes..and I know from watching the Matt fights that this is all it takes and Matt is dead, unless Fenrir is harder than Matt. Is Fenrir harder than Matt?

Avatar Mini forks?
# Jul 01 2007 at 2:40 PM Rating: Decent
OK I beat all the avatars as a lvl 20 smn by using the mini fork quest, and have no whispers under key items. Do I have to battle them again with the regular fork to get the whispers? Thanks for any information :)
Avatar Mini forks?

mc once you finish the fights and you picked your rewards which by what you kind of said that you have all avatars, you need to reflag the quest for each. Once you fight them over again if you decide you dont want any of the rewards you dont do anything you save the whisper. And later down the road once you have obtained all the whispers ex/ Diablos you can fight fenrir.
# Jun 01 2007 at 5:56 PM Rating: Decent
Was just wondering, i have no whispers yet and all forks. If I defeat all 6 and trade in to get each one of the pacts, will I still be able to go after Fenrir?

If I do receive Fenrir, will i still be able to receive the other 6, or do I have to fight them again?

You use the tuning forks to gain access into the individual avatar's realm; upon successful defeat of each of the 6 avatars, you will receive their respective 'whisper'. Now, if you turn in each whisper to the original NPC that gave you the corresponding tuning fork, you may choose to accept a number of rewards; one of which is a pact (or ability to summon them). Once you do this, your whisper for that avatar is gone. In order to obtain the Moon Bauble that grants access to the Fenrir fight, you must retain all 6 of the whispers (without turning them in) and then speak to Leepe-Hoppe @ (J-9) in Windurst Waters to trade all of them in for your Moon Bauble. Essentially, you will have to fight the 6 avatars at least twice (each) if you wish to have all 6 avatars plus Fenrir. Hopefully that makes sense! Also, just a note in case you were not aware... the whispers are key items so don't worry if you don't see them in your inventory. You will not be doing traditional trading to turn in whispers; it will happen when you initiate conversation or cutscene with the correct NPC.

Took on Fenrir for a friend today. I had went before and won with a pickup party for my earring and I wanted the stone for an evasion setup. this time out setup was:

Nin, Thf(me), Rng(friend), Blm(friend), Whm, Brd

Well going into the fight I had my doubts about the NIN (no offence to him). I suppose I was correct in my assumption though. He lasted about 32 seconds(13% of Fenrir's HP) until he went down and I had to take over tanking. We ended up winning though so it was an enjoyable fight.

Rng friend took video (don't ask me about his taste in music but its sort of humorous). Link to vid:

so i have 4/6 whispers right now and am getting close to the Moon Bauble...my question is if i were to get all the whispers and flag the quest would it be possible to get the forks of the other avatars and then get their whispers again? thanx ^_^
# Dec 26 2006 at 11:35 PM Rating: Decent
You can't have the same avatar's whisper and fork unless it's a different avatar's whisper or fork.

Example: if you have Whisper of Frost, you can't have a Tuning Fork of Frost at the same time, but you can have any other Tuning Fork. The only way to get another Tuning Fork of Frost is to claim your reward from the NPC that gave you your Tuning Fork of Frost by takling to her.
# Jan 03 2007 at 8:55 PM Rating: Decent
One more thing also. Once you turn in a whisper you have to wait a full 24 hours (Or probably JP Midnight) from when you turn it in before you can get that fork again. Btw I think JP midnight is like 11AM ish EST.

Here, I made a video of my Fenrir fight 2 days ago. I got him as a X-mas present from my LS.

It's unedited, raw recording, cut scenes and fight scene put together in one video. Hope it helps. Beware of spoilers.
do all members of the pt have to have all 6 whispers?
# Dec 18 2006 at 6:14 PM Rating: Decent
Just wondering if a smn with the key item Moon Bauble can get the whole pt into the fenrir fight or if every single member of the pt has to have the quest activated. >.<

[edit] nevermind, found my answer. ^^

Regular PT setup
# Oct 02 2006 at 6:52 AM Rating: Decent
Starting up a party for this fight is really challenging, ask anyone and they'll tell you this fight is sooo hard. My LS on Caitsith finally bit the bullet and grabbed 6 people for the Moonlit Path bcnm.

Our setup was
75 NIN/WAR Project
75 NIN/WAR Arluh
75 RDM/WHM Kitone
75 WAR/NIN Hamsterx
75 SAM/WAR Omnistar
75 WHM/BLM (me)

The actual fight was really simple and quick. Kit(RDM) and I kept everyone hasted and immediatly erased acc/eva down from Pro and Arluh (whoever had hate was obviously priority) after Lunar Cry while Ham and Omni did their thing.
We took ol' Fenny down fast. No one died from Howling Moon (weak!!); the worst damage came from Eclipse Bite when Ham (WAR) grabbed hate near the end and when Fenny got a lucky shot on Arluh right as he went down. (T^T).

Don't be intimidated by what people say, all you need is a good tank, and of course trustworthy dd and support. SMN burn is not needed!!! You can even get by without Stun if you need to. :3

Congrats again guys!! <3
Fight Fenrir during Full Moon

We just beat Fenrir. We were an unconventional pickup party.

We had no BRD or stun but everyone survived Fenrir's 2-hr. I just Flash to give our tank time for shadows and with four healers, everyone is back in good shape fast. I was amazed how fast Fenrir went down seeing how we were lower on the damage side. Also I noticed Fenrir missed our tank quite often.

It was 98% Full Moon Watersday and SMN used Leviathan. The Full Moon was probably what made the fight easier and we finished in 5 minutes 21 seconds. Good job everyone.

Fenrir used Luncar Roar few times, which removed ALL buffs from everyone. Be prepared for that.

you don't need fame for this quest you just need to have had the fame to get and defeat the 6 elemenatl avatars

and having there whispers will open this quest i don't beleave fame is an issue simmilar to the diablos quest which required onl;y a mission to be completed first

if i am wrong by all means please tell me but i beleave fame is not an issue for this quest

Sorry, but you are wrong. I've had the Moonlit Path quest since Fenir was introduced, and I have never attempted any of the avatar battles prior. This is based off fame. I had higher then level 7 fame, but I dont' remember what level I had it at when I got the quest.
# Nov 11 2007 at 12:24 PM Rating: Decent
i only have 7 fame in windy and i was able to get the moon bauble (once i had all 6 whispers of course) so i doubt fame matters at all

Ok i am whm60/blm.. I have so far done all of the Primes and got my pacts and I am now grabbing all the whispers for Fenrir.. I am being told I am too low but If i breezed the primes.. and I get a good party together for Fenrir i should be fine right?

Chainspell Stun when he's at 60% and you got the win w/ a regular setup. You CAN stun his 2hr Howling Moon.

When you have all 6 whispers you go talk with Leepe-Hoppe at (J - 9) in Windurst waters, on the map part that dont have the cooking guild on it.

I got a neat CS with a hot Mithra first time I spoke with Leepe (well first time after the Windurst missions I did that involved him), If you see that cutscene with hot Mithra it is for the Tune In CoP quest that I dont know anything about.

To get The Moonlit Path quest at this point for Fenrir fight go zone and zone back and talk with Leepe again. (notes Leepe-Hoppe is also included in some Windurst missions)

You see a Cutscene with the 6 elements that Carbuncles ruby inhale and become the key item Moon Bauble. This is "all" you need to enter the BCNM fight for Fenrir, no capped at all.

Fenrir is not that bad but his 2hr is hurting much, a RDM/DRK with chainspells can stunn away his 2hr no problems but he get killed by it most likely. NIN tank cant stay allive alone, he need healing or help from a semi tank or another NIN. 2 stunners is good to keep stunning all Fenrirs moves away all to when he at 50% use 2HR.

BRD's Carol do not nessesarely save you from Fenrirs 2hr but it can help.

Fenrir is not "that" easy to fight, he hit fast and hit hard so you need the best you can get for this but rarely people get him the first time unless having a mana burn party or SMN party.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 18 2006 at 9:01 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I got all 7 ******* whispers and talked to her expecting to get the moonlight Path instead the little ***** gives me Tunning in I want the ******* avatar quest not a god damn Tunning in!!!! this game is ******* stupid!

If you fight and kill Fenrir and get the summon pact, does your moon bauble go away? If, say, I want one of his items as well as his summoning pact, do I need to get 6-whispers twice to be able to get 2 moon baubles so I can fight fenrir a 2nd time?

Your moon bauble gets turned into another item (forgot what) and you trade that to the NPC who will give you the reward. Then wait a day and you can recieve another moon bauble.

You only have to collect the spirits once to activate the quest, then you can recieve a moon bauble once a day just as all the other avatar fights with their tuning forks.

those of you who have this apparent problem of not getting the quest when you talk to the person... it's not that you need to change to smn it's that you have CoP and you get another quest first... just zone and come back and talk again and you'll get the other quest as well...

Thank you! I got the "Tune In" quest instead "The Moonlit Path." I'm not even doing the CoP chapters, for the most part. H*ll, I don't have access to the areas necessary to get the items the guy needs to make the fork.

IBHalliwell - Yet, another reason to the CoP chapters.
