Summary

Leepe-Hoppe wants you to take on Carbuncle's request to gather the six "whispers," then pay a visit to the Full Moon Fountain...

Walkthrough

You must collect 6 whispers from each of the 6 Prime avatar battles. Do not speak to the battle NPC or they will take your whisper. Bring them to Leepe-Hoppe and he will give you a key item: Moon Bauble. This will allow you to go into Full Moon Fountain and battle with Fenrir Prime.

Upon defeating Fenrir Prime, return to Leepe-Hoppe and collect one of the following prizes:

You can receive a moon bauble once a day just as all the other avatar fights with their tuning forks.

i just got summoner and read some of the posts on getting the other items from the avatars besides a pact. Is it possible to get all the extra equipment by fighting the avatars once after an earth day has passed? Repeatadly

Soloed Avatars

Ok listening to people talk about soling avatars and what they think they know about it is funny. I have have soloed all the avatars this is what i know. You go to other NPC that would bormally give you the quest IE: ramum in mhara, titan in bastok etc. as a summoner. If you have high enough fame, you can get the quest EVEN AT LVL 10. But you wont live lol. Anyways you can talk to the npc and hell warp you to the battle protocystal and once you enter...you will be resticted to lvl 20. Shiva, Ifrit, Garuda i defeated on one try. Leviathan took me 2, Titan (his bind is evil) 5 times and Ramuh 8!!! lol i know i was suckin!!! anyways the classic 3 searing lights was my plan. except for titan, i got 2 off so i meleed the rest w/ carby(using a pole and lots of hi-ethers lol!!!
LvL 10 w/ Fenrir!?!?!?!?!

I just logged off from lvling my smn (lvl 8 now) and just before I did I saw the most confuseing and most ungodly impossible thing. A LVL 10 SUMMONER WITH FENRIR. He was a Taru named YagginPotter. I tried to ask him but all he said was i don't understand with the autotranslate. I just have to know how he has Fenrir at lvl 10?

You see, before your type came out the only way to get Avatars was to fight the level 75 version of the avatars. He was a Japanese player who has gotten fenrir the hard way. When PS2 came out(well a little before actually...) They made "mini quests" so you can get avatars no problem (very disrespectful to summoners) Before, in order to get Ramuh, Ifrit, Shiva, Leviathan, Garuda and, Titan... you needed to have a 65+ job... (unless high levels took you) And to get Fenrir, you have to defeat the level 75 Avatar and get a special item for each of them, take them to the NPC and get a moon bauble (Yes, if you want the avatar and the item, you have to defeat them twice... once per real-life day) The Moon Bauble is a "Tuning Fork" in order to get Fenrir. To fight Fenrir you need a tank of level 74-75(best to use two ninja's) And mages are suppose to be 70 (still very dangerous for a full exp party of level 75's) Sure, it has been done with less and is possible to do with less than six people, but Fenrir is very hard to get. So, the person you saw was a high level player... Anyone you see with Fenrir, expect them to have a level 70+ job. Some people took the easy way and beg people or pay people to help (really cheap of them, I consider it cheating) But that's how, I hope I helped you some :)

I'd like to defend the level 20 fights a little bit. By no means does this make it "Easy" to get all the avatars. It's still the eqivalent of attempting to solo a VT mob who uses a 2hr, definitely not easy, although it did make them more common, since most people don't want to level their war to 65 before they can do smn, like they want. SE just made it more accessible. Last night I fought Leviathan (my last of the mini-size fights I need to win) and there is simply SO much that can go wrong it's not even funny, and if you ***** up, your pld can't 2hr to save you. I generally take 12-15k in food, and one extra of everything, and I can still lose if I have a bad run (multiple 2hrs hit for half damage) so I don't consider it getting the avatars "no problem." Just my two cents.

You can take any job into the avatar fight, or stand back and let the others do the dirty work. Considering he is only level 10, that leads me to believe he has a higher level job that he won the Fenrir battle with. For example, I'm a level 9 SMN and have every summon but Fenrir and Leviathan, both of which I am getting soon. I beat them all as a level 62 BRD, but since I had SMN unlocked, I chose a pact with each avatar instead of the other rewards. Hope that clarifies things for you.

Ancient's Key is used along with the key items you receive from beating the high level avatars a second time (talk to Leppe-Hoppe i don't know which choice, but one of them gives you another key item) once you have all 7 key items, you go to Norg and talk to some NPC for a quest, i think the name is "Mama-Mia" most likely im wrong... The quest is to receive the Evoker's Ring

So, since an earlier post said you get to keep the moon bauble (key item) forever -- that means that the SMN can enter into a fight with fenrir prime whenever he/she wants, right?

I am a 54 PLD itching for a Fenrir's cape is all.

Once you use the moon bauble once you lose it. However, you can talk to the NPC and he'll give it to you again... It's just like a normal tuning fork, I guess by forever they meant you don't have to refight all the avatars for a bauble

Yeah, you have to kill all the avatars a 2nd time to get these whispers. However, if you are the level to kill fenrir you shouldn't have too much trouble with the avatars.
Info

Ok after reading the posts here I thought that I would clarify a few things up for you all.

1st of all, the Fenrir quest first involves you kill all of the avatars the classic way (lv 65~+ party) therefore collecting the whispers. A whisper is the key item you get immediatly after defeating the avatar prime that replaces your Tuning Fork. If you go back and talk to the quest NPC for the avatars you will be forced to choose a reward and you lose your whisper and cannot recieve another tuning fork for 24 earth hours.

2nd After you have recieved all of the whispers form the 6 different avatar battles you then take them to the Fenrir quest NPC and he will take them and give you a key item "Moon Bauble" in return. After recieving this key item you can then go fight Fenrir at Full Moon Fountain.

3rd Every avatar reward list has an "odd" item like this "Ancient's Key". There is a quest in Norg that requires all of these items, 7 total and they are all rare/ex, this requires defeating all of the avatars the classic way one more time. In return for trading all of these items to the quest NPC in Norg you recieve the "Evoker's Ring" which is a must have for all 71+ Summoners, its stats include, avatar perpetuation cost -1, MP +25 , Summoning Magic Skill +10 and is Rare/Ex and does require lv 71 SMN job to use.

4th There is NO minimum on a job for completing this quest but the recomended party is to have 6 lv 75's to defeat him tho it is possible to do it with some lower.

5th When you fight Fenrir you do not lose your Moon Bauble you get to keep it forever.

Are the whispers one of the rewards for fighting in an avatar battle, or can you take the pact / an item as well as the whisper?
min lvl 75?

The minimum level here is listed as 75, but this contradicts statements made by several people in the SMN job forum. Can anyone clarify this point?

Does anybody know anything about the lvl 20 avatar quests and how to get them? All I've seen is that you can solo the avatars at lvl 20. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This isn't solid info, just what I've been told/what I've gathered.

You talk to someone (havn't found out who yet) in Winduest as a level 20+ summoner. You choose which avatar you want to battle and are given a mini tuning fork and are teleported to the cloister of the avatar. You then trade the tuning fork to the protocrystal (clicking on it normally will start a normal avatar battle if you have the normal tuning fork) to start the battle. You have to defeat the avatar solo and you can only summon carbuncle. There's also a level cap of 20.

The reward for winning is the avatar pact, I'm guessing you can only get the avatar pact and not any of the money/prizes like a normal abatar battle. Also I don't think there's an option to fight Fenrir nor do you get the whisper from winning battle. In order to get Fenrir I'm pretty sure youll hafta fight the normal avatar battles.

That's all I've gathered but it's merely speculation since I haven't done it myself (I got all the avatars the normal way anyway).

Supposedly, you talk to the same NPC that grants the level 60 quest to get the level 20 quest. I'm not sure how they determine which quest you receive, but my SMN friend asked at level 20 SMN and got all the lvl 20 quests for all the Avatars but Fenrir. Also you may use whatever elemental spirits you have in the fight not just Carbuncle. As for other details, its all still speculation at this point. Still looking for solid info. Also, I did find out that if you have already accepted the level 60 quests (like me lol) then you can't accept the lvl 20 quest. I submitted this to a GM but have not as of yet gotten a response.

There are 2 npc's standing together at all the places you get the quest for the summons, and one of them is always a taru. Both of them talk to you when you get either the lvl 20 quest or the regular quest, but, according to the quest log, the taru is the one that gives you the regular avatar battle quest while the other guy gives you the lvl 20 quest. I believe that is how it is.

you do need to kill the avatars twice if you want to summon them and fenrir.

my only question, shouldnt the gil reward be a bit higher for killing fenrir?

you cannot collect the 10k from each of the other 6, so this one should IMO be at least 70k-80k for killing...

anyway, yea, i like his set of equipment, i think its cool... i like the theme, the earring would be cool to have, to bad its so high a lvl...

Hey all,

Im confused on how to obtain this quest. Im in the middle of getting all the avatar quests. Now how do you get these "whispers"?. When I fight the avatars, im obviously taking the pacts as the first reward. I know you can fight them serveral times to get other rewards. I looked in the other trial quests and didnt see a whisper as an item to drop.

Are the whispers a key item you get on top of the reward choice to prove you slain the avatar?

Any information would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks

When you defeat an avatar you get a whisper. Then you go turn in the whisper to collect your choice of reward. You must collect all 6 whispers to get fenrir. I'm not sure, but I think that means you have to fight the others multiple times (once for the pact, and once for an extra whisper so you can get fenrir). It's my understanding that the whisper gets used up when you turn it in. That's why you can repeat the avatar killing and get other rewards.
