Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Sky Orb, which is obtained by trading 30 Beastmen's Seals to Shami in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Sky Orb to the Burning Circle inside Balga's Dais and choose to enter the battle Creeping Doom.

Up to 3 people may enter and you will all receive a level 30 restriction. You have 15 minutes to win. You will face one opponent: A giant Crawler named Bitoso. He can cure himself, uses Paralyzga, all the regular crawler abilities, and has lots of HP. If you can bring him down you get a treasure crate filled with assorted rewards.

Strategies

BLM BLM DRK BLM BLM BLM

Make sure than the Black Mage's have /WHM and have Paralyna as the Crawler has an Area of Effect (AoE) Paralyze spell. You will also need Aspir/Sleep and a maxed Dark Magic skill level for this fight. Sleep and Aspir Bitoso until he has 0 MP and then nuke him until dead. He is resistant to Silence and casts Cure III on himself so it is important to drain all of his mana.

BLM BLM RNG

The Ranger will need to bring Sleep Bolts. Sleep and Paralyze Bitoso at the start of the fight. The Black Mages should then coordinate their nukes by casting together and the Ranger should sleep Bitoso with the bolts just after the spells hit. With repeated successful cycles, this battle should be easy.

DNC/NIN DNC/NIN NIN/WAR

Pretty easy BCNM. Went in with Utsusmei: Ichi up and some food buffs on and just traded taunt. The 2 dancers healed to trade taunt. Just played through the paralyze and cures and slows. Not a dangerous tactic but we got pretty close on the 15 minute period.

i did this twice tonight going for a 3rd and fourth time right now we had each use eseal and sleep and aspir till 5 mins is left. then shock burn and choke and used bind becuase it started to resist sleep. first drop we got 220k earring and dispel second we only got killers earring
too easy

me and some ls mates did 6 of these today setup:
drk/nin
rng/nin
whm/smn

we have won all but 1 which was because of a DC. simply do souleater and barrage, will take him down to 1/3hp and keep wacking at him he spams cure 3 but does this soo much he never uses paralaga. from here its just a waiting game and as soon as barrage or souleater are back you win.

we have made about 1.1mil gil from 1 genin earring, 1 wizzard earring, 1 magicians earring, 1 wrestlers earring, and dispel

Tried this last night with this set up:

Pal/War
Mnk/Sam
Whm/Snm

For some reason, it almost felt as if we weren't doing ANY damage to it (unless my TP was full and we did SC's).

Well pal dies, and I'm fighting it alone. Odd thing is I managed to get it down to half life (from close to full life). and I was pretty close to killing it (my life was in the red by this time though), then it did it's poison move.

Bye bye monk (wish I could have used chakra). We are gonna try it again tonight with the pal using his mnk instead of pal. Because I was doing a lot of damage to it (hitting for about 24 per fist <so an overall damage of 48>).

This bcnm is almost designed for 2 jobs in specific. BLM, and rng can destroy it with little or no hassle. 3 Rangers = guranteed win; all go in with 2 hours ready. Unload eagle shot then barrage, it's literally dead at this point. The big problem with this bcnm it loves to dump Cures. Beyond these 2 jobs; other melees have problems doing just enough damage - then it dumps a Cure III. So if you don't want to lose 30 beastman seals keep this is mind.

the bcnm are inteded to be won without 2hr, simply running in and EES is a waste and pointless. a good pt setup is key trying to tank it with pld is waste, better to use xxx/nin for blink.
Advice please?
# Aug 09 2004 at 12:11 AM Rating: Decent
Considering the messages that have been posted, I'm a bit afraid of the party I was planning on using for this battle. It was going to be a:
THF/WAR- 30/12
MNK/WAR- 30/10
WAR/MNK- 30/8
There is also a WHM/BLM- 30/15 available for this, and if he would be beneficial, who should switch out. I know all of these people in RL, and this is our first time getting to this level, so none of us are very finely tuned players. I would appreciate any advice possible.

First off, you might not have enough damage in that lineup.
Second, make sure ALL magic and melee abilities are capped before you even TRY.
Third, WHM would be helpful, but in place of which job IS the question...
Fourth, LEVEL YOUR DAMN SUBS TO FULL 1/2 OF MAIN...that's just a disgrace...you wanna try to do this fight GIMPED? when others can barely do it totally ready? I mean cmon.

I was talking w/ my friend and after having great success with our current setup he wants to break the mold and get some other friends involved. I told him w/o a dedicated mage his chances of success are slim, hence he decided to use whm as a sub. What do you think his odds are of winning w/ the party setup above?
Record Time
# Aug 04 2004 at 9:14 AM Rating: Default
Did this last night with:
Mnk/War
Rng/War
Rng/Nin

Broke the record on Phoenix by more than 3 minutes with a time of 2:38. Could have been less because only one of the Rangers used Eagle Eye Shot. Used a couple HP regen potions and an X-potion for Rng/War to split tanking time with Rng/Nin to recast Utsusemi.

Second fight didn't go very well without the Mnk's 2 hour; however, after the time on the first one it really didn't matter. We didn't get any good drops either, but I was just happy to have a set a record especially since it was my first BCNM victory.
3 SAM?
# Aug 02 2004 at 1:22 PM Rating: Decent
Do you think 3 SAMs could do this?

Here's my proposed strategy:

Enter.
All 3 of us Meditate.
Wait til Med recharge (or 30 seconds left).
Start Eating/Drinking/etc.
Charge Bitoso!
Each SAM: Enpi > 2hr > Enpi > Meditate > Enpi > Enpi > Enpi.

If each SAM could pull this off (doing this one at a time) we have 15 straight Enpi's + the 7 Distortion Skillchains that result. Could this do enough dmg to kill Bitoso?

All of this assuming of course that Bitoso's Cure3/Paralyga can interrupted by an Enpi or a normal strike.

RE: 3 SAM?
# Aug 02 2004 at 2:21 PM Rating: Good
The only problem is you're relying on 2-hour abilities. You're only going to be able to do this once every two hours like that, for reasons that should be obvious. Smiley: wink I'm not certain how much your Enpis can do chained like that, so I don't know if that will signifigantly damage or kill him. I know my Mithkabob powered Barrage was doing 300 or so and taking *maybe* 1/10 his life. If you do try it, let us know how it goes. Smiley: smile

Yet another alternative
# Jul 31 2004 at 11:34 PM Rating: Good
Well, a few friends and I just did this three times. We lost our first, but that's almost expected when doing a fight like this for the first time. After that, we modified our tactics and easily won the next two after that. Our winning party was:

- Rng/War (Me)
- War/Mnk
- Rdm/Whm

Our strategy:
After our loss the first time (time ran out) we decided we weren't going to be smart about it, we were going to go in and obliterate it. I opened each fights with a barrage to get some hate and damage until the warrior got hate back. Once he did, the key to our success manifested itself. I bet you're all dieing to know what it is. well, I'll tell you. Bloody Bolts. These bad boys will drain him anywhere from 30-60 HP per shot. With this, the Warrior and I essentially tossed hate back and forth, draining it to death, while the Red Mage backup cured and nuked. We didn't get any good drops but are planning our return trip. Our first win took about nine and a half minutes. Our second took eight minutes and eighteen seconds. Not bad, eh?

Edit: He got to the spamming Cure III stage, but we didn't care, we were hitting him as fast as he was curing. Eventually he'll run out of MP to cure himself, then he's yours. Smiley: grin

So here's the deal... so long as you have damage dealers yer fine... period.

Did this one a short time back with 2 LS members and, while tough, it wasn't all that bad.

What we were:
30RNG/15WAR
30PLD/15WAR
30SMN/15WHM

What we brought:

Hi-Potions
Pamama Au-Lait
Hi-Ethers
Yagudo Drinks

Simply put the SMN went ahead after using Arial Armor on us all and set Shiva on the hapless MOB... after the first AoE attack RNG and PLD went in and started with the heavy hitting. Off the bat RNG used Barrage/Sharpshot/Berserk to clip the MOB for a fair amount of damage. Both the RNG and the PLD exchanged hate while popping the occasional Hi-Potion. All the while the Pamama Au-Lait was helping to keep the damage manageable. The SMN removed the occasional poison and paralyze. 5 min into the fight RNG hit with the Barrage/Sharpshot/Berserk again and the SMN also used her 2hr (plus Yagudo Drink) to hit the MOB twice with Diamond Dust. A couple of SC were popped off in there as well, but I can't recall which ones :P RNG fired off Eagle Eye Shot to wrap things up and the beastie fell down hard. Throughout the fight the SMN didn't end up using her Hi-Ether at all.

So, you see... it CAN be done without a single BLM or BLM sub.

Lusiphur <Alexander>

As a side note... we also beat the standing record on Alexander by about 2 minutes >:-P

2 rl friends and i just whooped this guy twice and we're going for 3 and 4. this is the pt:

rng/nin
blm/rdm
blm/whm (me)

this guy is a sucker for bind. the 2 blms keep aspiring and draining whenever possible. rng opened with barrage, then used piercing arrow when he had enough tp. bitoso is slow, so if you catch aggro just run away from him until he aggroes another member. you NEED someone with a whm sub to cast paralyna/poisona as needed. i found myself doing that while the /rdm was curing. mages use pies/yagudo drinks and rng uses kabobs.

1st fight 11 min 2 sec (used sleep/aspir method initially, but realized the rng was just standing around)

2nd fight 10 min 3 secs

these are no record breakers but we were safe the whole time. around 9 minutes in if you keep aspiring him he'll run out of magic.

here are the drops we got:

1 mythril ore
1 esquire's earring (12k on kujata)
1 ashigaru earring (5k...meh)
1 scroll:dispel (70k)
1 scroll:erase (370k)
and a few silks.

not bad...over 150k each from 2 fights.
good luck! i'll post the results of the next 2 tries.

EDIT: ok here are the results from the last 2 fights. same team:

Fight #3: 8 minutes 12 seconds

1 wizard's earring (220k)
1 scroll: erase (370k)
1 trimmer's earring (25k)

Fight #4: 9 minutes 5 seconds

1 elm log (4k)
1 chestnut log (2k)

the last fight was a disappointment, but all in all i'm happy with the results. word of advice: i did this with 2 rl friends, so i trust them. i could imagine things getting ugly real fast if someone tried to pull a fast one and quartermaster and keep everything. we made almost 1 million gil total in less than 3 hours.

Bitoso's MP

I added up all of our aspirs from this incredibly easy battle and it came up to around 1200 MP. This can be cemented by the fact that:

We each aspired an average of 40 MP.
We stopped aspiring after 10 minutes (after the first sleeper's ES timer went up).
40 x 10 x 3 = 1200 MP.

So just aspir him until your first sleeper's ES timer goes up then nuke the crap out of him. They do more damage than you'd think.

Also, to a fairly gimped (105 Defense) blm he does around 60 damage which isn't bad considering it is incredibly easy to bind him (he is weak to ice). Good luck!

EDIT: Wanted to add, have each BLM stand on opposite sides so that paralyzga only hits one person when he awakes.

EDIT 2: Also wanted to add that doesn't take into account the MP he uses up during Paralyzga which I presume is quite a bit. He only got to cast it once between each sleep though.

I want to try out this method and I am wondering how much damage the full MP of 3 Black Mages will deal to the crawler (after aspiring him to 0 MP). I'm aware that once we all run out we can sleep him and rest some of it back but it would be nice to have an idea how much damage will be done. Will it get him to say 70%? 50%? Help me out here.

EDIT: Wanted to point out that any spell that doesn't deal damage to HP will not wake him up if used on him, so the blms could Slow & Paralyze while waiting on Aspir to lose some MP so they can drain more.

Would This party setup work out?

WAR/MNK who uses Great axe and food.
RNG/WAR
RNG/NIN.

The way I see it, if the warrior spams provoke and boost, the hate will be under control, and he can use boosts for extra damage, and Sturmwind and Mighty strikes for serious damage as well.
The Rangers can both use Eagle Eye shot as the battle nears it's end.

I really, really, need the Utsusemi: Ni scroll, so I wanna try to make this work. ; ;

Maybe get 2 blm and have them nuke the hell outta it? Go into the battle and hit Provoke >> shield bash >> invincible >> sentinal when invincible wears off...and then Voke asap. Do that to get tons of hate and then just have blms go to town on its ***.

And does silence not work on him?

Ok, a few of us just got done with 7 BCNM 30 fights in Giddeus Vs. the "Bitoso" the Uber crawler. We won 6 of them, and only lost the 1 because we aggroed the crawler too near the mage and the AOE Paralyze got her.
Our group:
Me (Fealieu)- Ranger/ninja (eating Meat Mithkabobs)
Auwi - Ranger/ninja (eating Meat Cheifkabobs)
Cinnamuffin - Blackmage/whitemage (Pumkin Pie)
Upon entering, the 2 rangers cast utesemi and the Blk/wht cast Barparalya, protectra, Barpoisonra, then drank a yaguto potion.
Engage far enough from the mage that the AOE Paralyze won't hit the mage, and both rangers Barrage before the Crawler can do the AOE. Then whack away and recast Utesemi as needed. We set the record for speed on the first one, doing it in a little over 8 min, and again on the 3rd doing it in 6 min, 18 sec. Woot!
Our loot list:
7 - Spool of silk threads
1 - Warlock's earring
1 - Beater's earring
3 - Sheet of bast parchments
2 - Esquire's earrings
3 - Elm logs
1 - Scroll of Utsusemi: Ni
1 - Hi-potion
1 - Chunk of iron ore
1 - Wyvern earring
1 - Singer's earring
1 - Scroll of Magic Finale
1 - Onyx
1 - Hi-ether
So given the Ifrit Economy we made 263,700 +/-. Divide that by 3 and we each made nearly 80k in a couple hours, and had a blast!
I really hope that this helps people, and if you have any questions please feel free to ask me!
Happy Hunting!

I've done this BCNM way too many times trying to get Erase and the damn magicians earrings. Here's what I can tell you. After 4 victories and 2 draws this is what you need:

2 damage dealers and 1 whm.

That's it simple. You can even change damage dealers around.

DRG/BST/WHM
BST/MNK/WHM
DRK/MNK/WHM
DRG/WAR/WHM

Have your damage dealers all sub warrior and if you bring a bst have him use tiger broth. The battle will be long 9-10 mintues. But all it is an endurance race. You have to do MORE damage to said stupid crawler than he can heal in the time limit. That's all. No brain surgery. For food, damage dealers use kabobs and au lait to heal. WHM useless pie and yagudo or melon drinks. Battle starts, the damage dealers go in beserk, and then trade provokes back and forth as the whm heals. Use au laits and you won't even have to use benediction. Make sure the whm' has a macro for juice cuz he's going to use about 4 bottles. So go in with a 6-pack. That's it.

Configurations that DONT work

NIN/BST/WHM
THF/BST/WHM

Never use scouting jobs in BCNM or Garrison. They just don't do enough damage over time or D/T as I call it. It's all about D/T in BCNM.
My way or the highway
# Jul 06 2004 at 4:12 AM Rating: Decent
Hello all, so me and 2 friends that i know well went to do BCNM30 we beat Bisto 2 times out of 3 tryes here it goes how we beat it and how we lost once.

The party setup was:
--------------------
- Rng/War
- Rng/Nin
- Blm/Whm (me)

Enter the battle field everyone eat their food, Rng/Nin put Utsusemi on, and both of them start off with Sharpshot and Barrage. Than i used Elemental Seal and Sleep, follow that with some Aspirs as offten i could. The mob started moving,Sleep was ready to be casted again, i told the Rngs to hit it than I casted sleep right after and Aspir, by now Barrage was up allready Rngs used it just like at start ,than raise hell on Bisto and with the hp he had left he couldn't keep up. During fight he wasn't able to spam Cure III because he was asleep and any other times he was getting nice amount of dmg, more than what he could have healed.

-------------------------------
Where we went wrong
-------------------------------
The one time we died was because after I slept Bisto he got hit and started spaming Cure III, sleep wasn't ready to be casted yet and he started running around. Hit my with paralyze and than our voker Rng/War pulled it off me but i could not heal him, he droped than utsusemi was interuped on the Rng/Nin a couple times i could still not heal beacuse of paralyze, so he droped too, we got it down to about half of it's HP than i didn't have much left got hit about twice and died.

So be carefull do not hit him after he was slept.

-------------------------------
Other things
-------------------------------
I didn't need to nuke as a blm just sleep ,aspir and heal when needed. Like others posted before keep as far as u can from the mob because he casts Paralizaga and u will not be able to heal. Just incase I had 1 Hi-Ether with me for each fight and set a macro for Manafont.

This party set up worked out really nice since the rng could do their own SC [ Piercing Arrow > Piercing Arrow ] i could have MB that with WaterII but i saved MP for healing.

We walked out at 9:41 and with half of our hp and 100mp left.

I would rather not list the drops we got because i was not satisfied at all. With beating him twice we each made about 15k.

(I wish i saved those seals for BCNM40 , next stop!)

Wtf?
# Jul 05 2004 at 9:21 PM Rating: Decent
... after doing alot of reading here in this thread, me and two shellsters desided to whoop this circle. setup was blm/whm - blm/whm - drk/war ... a tasty kabob and some yagudo drinks for the dark - melon pies, hi-ethers and yag's for the blms ... fought the thing on darksday ... things didn't go as planned.

See - i was under the impression that the crawler would only start spamming cures when it reached a certain threshold of hp, but the first thing it did after dishing out a few initial hits was to cast a cure iii, and it pretty much kept on doing that ... it spammed 16 cures without even getting as low as 80% health ... we nuked the best we could, aggro bouncing around and sharing the hate a bit - tossing aspir/drain everytime we could while doing our best to stay un-paralyzed ... little difference did it make ...

..so whats going on? i'm scared... anyone else experienced this change of behaviour (in accordance to whats written in the thread) or should i attribute this to extremly poor playing? ^^

You seemed to have missed my post on here.

Quote:
It uses Cure 3 randomly after it's taken over 150 damage (which is how much it cured).

If you want to Aspir it to death, your best bet is to take 2 damage dealers in with the BLM/WHM (2 DRK/WAR would be best) and have everyone use Aspir every minute. The two DRKs can just beat on him, and they can take the damage better than a mage.

Alternately, with the 2 BLM/WHM, 1 DRK/WAR setup, let the DRK tank and just cure him. Don't bother nuking as you will easily outdamage the DRK and pull hate, which is a bad thing. Have the mages go to opposite sides of the arena so that if one of them pulls hate, and Bitoso paralyzega's, then only one gets hit, and the other mage can quickly undo it.

It's a battle of attrition, but make sure the DRK keeps control of him or everything goes down the toilet (paralyzed/dead mage = screwed).

Followed your advice Dainslaif, and just wanted to back you up by saying it works.

PT setup:
DRK/WAR (me)
DRK/WAR (Diamandes)
BLM/WHM (Sileena)

Started fight by buffing then Elemental Seal + Sleep. Followed by all of us using Aspir. Bind also helps for when it wakes up. Sleep again, then Aspir some more. After a few mins of doing this, the two drks charge in and start trading vokes. The blm was doing a great job healing, so we were safe for most of the fight, helped by our Drains. The end of the fight got a bit close, but we ended up killing it. The blm and I used our 2hr for the first fight, and we did fine. 2nd fight, same tactics, didn't have to resort to any 2hrs. 3rd fight however, it must've landed quite a few crits, because we dropped pretty fast. Just wanted to add my two cents on a good, (mostly), safe way to do this. Looking forward to trying this a few more times. So far we've earned about 110k total, not too bad for something as fun as this~

Later we did it with Rng/Nin, Drk/Thf (both Meat Mithkabobs), Whm/Blm (using Melon Pie, and 2 Yag Drinks per fight) which worked really good. We did it 6 times and rarely used any 2H (Bene was only needed once).
Worked really good this way (lost once because Whm couldn't cast anything, dunno why...), we where able to share hate rather good between Rng and Drk.
Fight times where between 10-13 min's, not fast but enough.

Some of our drops:
- lots of Silk
- lots of Bast Parchment
- 1 Elm Log
- a Light Opal
- a Hi-Ether and Hi-Potion
- 1000 Gil per fight and other small stuff

and the good drops:
- a Magician's Earring (350k on my server)
- a Mercenary's Earring (150k)
- a Warlock's Earring (~40k)
- a Trimmer's Earring (45k)

since we got two of the expensive Earrings each one of us got around 200k and had alot of Fun while fighting. :)

*edit*: some spelling ^^

Went 3 for 3 last night. Set up was RNG/NIN with Utsusemi(me), RNG/NIN without Utsusemi(Jeeta), and BLM/WHM(Reepicheep). First fight took the longest and i was 14 HP away from death but we worked well together and BLM was awesome and kept me alive, all and all for this fight we used 4 barrages, 2 eagle eye shots and a handfull of weapon skills, got a 10k earing and a brd song. Second time was cake, i was using a crossbow so i brought some bloody bolts which made things go so much smoother, no eagle eye shot and only 2 barrages, dropped the magician earing which sells for 300k on pandemonium server Woot! Last fight we were going for the record, flew through this one as well used one eagle eye shot and set new record on pandemonium at 4 minutes 2 seconds, dropped genin earing, sells for 80k. Overall we each made 135k Had a lot of fun with this.

Did it 3 more times today, went 2 for 3. Same set up as last, RNG/NIN, RNG/THF, BLM/WHM for first fight, lost though RNG/THF couldnt really deal enough dmg. Last two battles we got another RNG/NIN with Utsusemi and we crushed that stupid crawler but relized some punks broke our old record, by 3 seconds!, which is unacceptable so we went one last time and set another record of 3:30. No good drops though but still lots of fun.
