Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Sky Orb, which is obtained by trading 30 Beastmen's Seals to Shami in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Sky Orb to the Burning Circle inside Balga's Dais and choose to enter the battle Creeping Doom.

Up to 3 people may enter and you will all receive a level 30 restriction. You have 15 minutes to win. You will face one opponent: A giant Crawler named Bitoso. He can cure himself, uses Paralyzga, all the regular crawler abilities, and has lots of HP. If you can bring him down you get a treasure crate filled with assorted rewards.

Strategies

BLM BLM DRK BLM BLM BLM

Make sure than the Black Mage's have /WHM and have Paralyna as the Crawler has an Area of Effect (AoE) Paralyze spell. You will also need Aspir/Sleep and a maxed Dark Magic skill level for this fight. Sleep and Aspir Bitoso until he has 0 MP and then nuke him until dead. He is resistant to Silence and casts Cure III on himself so it is important to drain all of his mana.

BLM BLM RNG

The Ranger will need to bring Sleep Bolts. Sleep and Paralyze Bitoso at the start of the fight. The Black Mages should then coordinate their nukes by casting together and the Ranger should sleep Bitoso with the bolts just after the spells hit. With repeated successful cycles, this battle should be easy.

DNC/NIN DNC/NIN NIN/WAR

Pretty easy BCNM. Went in with Utsusmei: Ichi up and some food buffs on and just traded taunt. The 2 dancers healed to trade taunt. Just played through the paralyze and cures and slows. Not a dangerous tactic but we got pretty close on the 15 minute period.

elvaan blm/whm
hume blm/whm

I tanked, hume blm healed, elvaan blm nuked.

Food = pumpkin pies x2, yag drinks x2, meat mithkabob x1

We beat him in 10minutes.

We elemental seal + sleep to start. We all aspir while hume blm enfeebles. I engage in melee with about +16 evasion gear on. He hit me for about 40-50dmg a hit. Once aspir was recharged blm's cast water II and we all cast sleep just in cast it was resisted. Rinse and repeat. Piece of cake.

However i must warn you that all of us have the most elite gear possible at lvl 30, so if you decide to use this strategy take caution.

Drops = Utsusemi:Ni, Healer's Earring, and 3 Silk thread.
Hmm

Just did this crap today with RNG RNG THF and completely pummeled the thing. We set the record on the server with 3 minutes and 19 seconds.

First time drop:

Silk Thread
Silver Ingot
Beater's Earring
Hi-Potion

Second time drop:

Silk Thread
Silk Thread
Bast Parchment
Mythril Ingot

Ok, WTF is that?

Third and last time (hoping for a good drop):

Silk Thread
Silk Thread
Silk Thread
Genin Earring
Warlock's Earring
Scroll of Magic Finale

Oh hellz yeah. That's a good drop! But 90 of my seals down the drain for a 250k earring and 50k earring. At least the whole reason for me doing this was to GET the Genin Earring to wear, so it was successful.

We just did this fight twice and won both times, though the drops were not that fantastic.

We were War/Thf using a great axe and mithkabobs, Pld/War using a great sword and boiled crab and Smn/Whm using melon pie/yag drinks.

The fights weren't so bad, the crawler was hitting the pally for 20-30 damage a shot, but it swings FAST. It would get two or three swings in for each of her swings, and three to four for each of mine. I'd use shield break right at the start to lower its evasion, and then after that we'd set up Power Slash > Sturmwind for distortion. Using sneak attack before sturmwind I was routinely hitting for 225 + 75-100 damage from distortion, which took some healthy chunks out of its life. Unfortunately its spam casting Cure III brought it back again, but it does eventually run out of mp and you can beat it down quite quick once that happens.

We're a bit short on damage, but having the smn using shiva and blizz II to MB should help that a bit, we were just meleeing the thing down while he healed the two times we just went. Finished it in just under 15 minutes both times. Now if only we could get some decent stuff to drop ><

Similar to the sleep bolt technique, not going to set any speed records. Just have the rdm cast sleep so that it lands right after the two blm land firaga in unison. Only thing that can ***** it up is the occasional resist or lag. Happy hunting.

1st try ran out of time because of that damn cure 3. 2nd try had it down to 0 health and killed blm's and me shortly after. 3rd try sucess. Terrible drops, 1 hi-ether, 1 bast parchment, 1 silver ingot, 1 silk. Btw how the ???? is the record on gilgamesh 3 minutes and 24 seconds? How on earth

Myself and friend (Yellowshirt, rng/nin) did this last night (I was a thf/nin).

We each had decent equipment. The rng had a hawkers/archers combo with a zamurak +1 and I had a bastokian dagger (+2attk +2eva i believe) <hehe couldnt bring myself to buy 2 archers @50k each just for a bcnm.> I had some noct gear and beetle rings (balance for sneak attack) and the rng had all the +1 noct and rings :D
The first one Yellowshirt died because he didnt understand that we were gonna sleep bolt the sucker to death and I made it out with 80 HP to spare (used an Xpotion and a persikos au lait). Just ran outta time cause the little bugger kept using Cure III, Id be interested to know exactly how much mp he has because he cast it at least 6 times.. /cry
Lucky for us a LS buddy was in the area and raised Yellowshirt (thanks Devious!!!) and we charged back in, used an acid to start, Yellowshirt barraged it and then we slept it to death with the occasional SA/shadowstitch combo.

This method is fun, but also failproof... We ended up with Dispel (I dont believe this was mentioned as a drop) a Mercenary's earring, a mythril ingot and a few silk threads. It was completed on darksday, full moon. Definitely worth the 7 minutes and stack of sleep bolts (that Yellowshirt made btw, cutting costs, I'm uber cheap..hehe) it took for this BCNM.

Any rangers out there think they can solo this badboy? I'm tempted to try. If anyone has tried, please tell me how it went. Thanks..2 rangers on this **** is too easy...

This guy is not soloable! 2 rangers with Sleep bolts will easily kill this bad boy. Did it again last night..no good drops. Received a filthy wreslers belt to pay for arrows..even on a Full Moon. :(

I think you can solo Bitoso.

Here's my reasoning:

I was bored one day and tried it. Bad mistake, but learned some valuable things. I was able to take him down to 50% HP. I think the only reason he killed me was because of paralyze, which made it near impossible to get utsusemi back up. I was able to sleep him a lot, even as a thief, with sleep bolts, then run around, sleep him again, and Sneak Attack+Fast Blade.

I truly think I would have been able to solo him had I some Paralyze potions with me ... but the price for those is outrageous and not worth it. With those you could sleep him then put up utsusemi much easily and take half the damage you normally would, at least. If you're a millionaire with nothing to spend it on, go ahead and try this method just for fun.

It took me about 8 minutes before he finally killed me, and that was only on my first try with some mistakes (tried bloody bolt a few times, which was stupid) and I didn't open up the battle with an acid bolt (stupid again). Take a minute off for those mistakes, double the time and double the damage, and you just might be able to solo it as a THF/NIN with full ranged accuracy and ranged attack gear on (I had +1 Noct gear on, but only body/hands/legs - had Emp pin and Winged boots instead of the other Noct).

Another serious mistake I made was that I was engaged with him the whole time, but I shouldn't have been ... just use ranged attacks and engage only for sneak attacks.

Good luck, you'll certainly need it ... but most likely it'll be a waste of beastman seals (you'll likely fail, but yes I still think it's possible, even in the slightest) and you likely won't make enough gil from AH to recoup your costs.

Take care.

This has easily become an easy gil maker for me and 2 other friends.
Didn't even have to come here and read any strategy and true enuf we got it right the 2nd try...
not even gonna talk about first try...
i'm a rng, had another rng, and a whm...
just keep shooting it... startin off with barrage even...
keep takin it down... with whm healing...
rng/nin for utsusemi tankin for fun...
it doesn't hit tooooo hard...
rng stay maximum distance between each other...
so it will always be walkin between us..
and delayin its attack a lil longer...
plus paralyzga won't hit both of us...
but will snuff utsusemi...
by the time 2nd barrage come around...
both rng nail it at the same time so it can't spam cure fast enuf...
and we'll be able to kill it there...
we can win a battle in about 5-7 mins...
tho we had some that last 10 cuz the barrge didn't kill...
but personally... the easiest BCNM payoff ever...
first time... dropped genin and merc earrings...
which was total 450k on fairy...
then in the next 5 tries...
we scored 2 magicians and misc earrings...
which total close to 800k
so in about an hour and a half...
we made more than 1.2 mil..
and thats only splitting with 3 ppl

ww went into this battle as whm/blm pld/war and me drk/rdm "Yes rdm cuz i know my magic would be more important in the fight." but to no avail we got whipped. We hung tough but we could't sleep this **** to save our lives. i tried,FAIL!, tried again FAIL! he bearly for this things HP down cuz of the damn cure III but we hung tough as long as we could. So listen to the people who have gotten the job done. because we couldn't do it. going to try another one today. Wish me luck cuz i know i'll need it..lol

best BCNM ever in my opinion since cash only splits 2 or 3 ways. Beaten it everytime with rng rng blm sleep bolt strategy
however the scrolls can be pretty rare drops.
Never got erase yet and we've done it a lot ><
but yea we've gotten the 200k earrings, utsusemi and several dispels ^^
You just gotta remember u can't hold 2 of those rare items so mail it to mules to sell sell sell ^^
the 200k earrings seemed to drop on lightnings day more but I still think half that day/moon stuff is random. It can't be proved, but it can't be disproved either so whenever u feel lucky go for it ~^

I just did this 3 times with 2 BLM and RNG, the only problem we had encounter was that one blm was casting Choke, Rasp, Frost, and stuff like that... after we solved that issue, it was quite easy... but it does take some time to kill him with this setup.

RNG/NIN + WAR/RNG + RNG/NIN
zamburak + sleep bolts for all 3.

just spam bolts. Switch to holy bolt for WS and barrage. Bloody when low, have the warrior provoke every 30 seconds so the rng aren't targeted with paralyzga should it get through. I have done this BC with that exact set up 3 times now, won all 3.

I tried this today, me and two BLMs without aspir, so i helped one of them do quest, well, one ES+Sleep it, then right after hit him with thunder even though is said not too. So i hit it with a sleep bolt, slept it, and what did he do? That's right, thunder II again, my next two bolts didn't sleep him, BLM = dead, well things just got worse and worse, i mananged to survive for a while, got it down to about 1/10 hp, then run out of bolts. I think waiting for my friends is a better idea..

Blm/Blm/Rng(me)

blms sub whm for parlyna. rng sub nin for agi

Simple strategy.

1. Ranger uses sleep bolts exclusively. Run up sleep, and spam sleep bolts for the duration.

2. Blms alternate between aspir/nukes/drain (for when sleep fails to activate.

This will steadily whittle it down to death. We had a clear time of 9 min. We could have let loose on the nukes and barrage EES, but didn't. My sleep bolts activated about %90 of the time. Because it was asleep the majority of the time; Bitoso never had the chance to get off a cure 3.

After approaching it this way I think this could be won with 2 rangers. One /nin using sleep bolts as describled above. The other /war laying down the thunder.

Dropped:
Mercenary Ring
Silk Thread
Silver Ore
Bast Parchment

Good Luck^^

First setup (& first try):

Cleared in 9~~ min

RNG/NIN (moi!)
DRK/WAR
WHM/BLM

Drops:

1x Bast Parchment (around 1.5k)
1x Darksteel ore (6k in Bastok)
1x Iron ingot (around 2.4k?)
1x Silk thread (varies)

----------
vvvvvvvvvv

We trade orb, zone in, buff up, let WHM heal mp.

What I (RNG) did:
I enter the BC and fire off 3 Acid Bolts <3 with my trusty Zamburak, at Bitiso, then i switch to my handydandy Great Bow +1 <3 and Barrage followed with a few normal arrows (i had blink up first, but he hits so fast it's useless), get to 100%~ tp and fire off WS. Then i proceeded to tank with Bloody Bolts <3. Whenever DRK got hate i switched to Holy Bolts <3 and tried to get it back, then continued to tank with them sexy Bloody Bolts <3

What the DRK did:
First she slept Bitiso, Aspir'ed and Drain'ed, rinsed and repeated 3 times. Remember to Aspir and Drain as soon as they were available as the fight will last a little if you dont keep Aspir'ing him, voke whenever Bitiso somehow decided to go hump the WHM

What the WHM did:
Elemental Seal + Paralyze after i had gotten hate, the rest of the battle she just healed and removed Poison & Paralyze.

We thought we would die on first try, so we just threw everything we had at the poor crawler XD

----------
vvvvvvvvvv

Second fight:

Cleared in 11~~ min

Setup:

Same setup
ALOT more careful than the first try.

Drops:

1x Magician's Earring (250k)
1x Silk Thread (uhm, varies -_-)
1x ??? (can't remember atm ; ;)

Same strategy as #1

----------
vvvvvvvvvv

Third Fight:

Cleared in 10~~ mins

Setup:

Same except for WHM/BLM switching to WHM/SMN and using the Magician's Earring for +30 mp ^^

Drops:

1x Mercenary's Earring (100k)
1x Darksteel Ore (6k)
1x Bast Parchment (around 1.5k)
2x Silk Thread (varies)
1x ??? (can't remember atm ; ;)

Same strategy as #1

----------
vvvvvvvvvv

Really fun BCNM, although a little stressy if something decides to mess up :/
Even though this was the WHM's first BCNM she quickly figured it out and it worked like a charm!
Would prolly have gone a little faster if the DRK had used a Crossbow and those sexy bolts <3
Hopefully we're attempting this today again ^^

{/cheer} and {Good Job!} to the WHM and the DRK

----------
vvvvvvvvvv

A little tired atm <.< not sure if everything is 100% I'll check later on what we got etc.

Oh yes, forgot that WHM and DRK had to use 2hr first battle, b/c Bitiso got a little stingy :/

Beat Down
# Oct 06 2004 at 8:07 AM Rating: Decent
44 posts
Well, I wouldn't exactly say beat down, but my friend and I are 2/2 on this BCNM. It is really easy with our setup and requires little or no strategy. The setup is:

THF/NIN
RNG/NIN

Gear:

Both players would do good to have any and all ranged attack/accuracy (accuracy is more important) gear on, especially the archers/hawkers knives. Also, the best crossbow you can afford is needed(I could only afford the Zamburak, but it did just fine. Zamburak +1 would have made it even easier), as well as at least a stack of sleep bolts per BCNM you plan on doing. In both of the BCNM battles I participated in, I used 79 and 78 bolts respectively.

Skills:

It is important that the players involved have Marksmanship skill maxed out for lvl 30, which is around 83 I believe. Landing your sleep bolts is imperative against Bitoso.

Strategy:

Once you enter the arena, eat a kabob and put up Utsusemi. Then, the players walk in together, and once the ranger is in range to shoot he does so. Then the thief and ranger flank Bitoso on either side and just pepper with sleep arrows. The sleep arrows, if timed well and landed, prevent Bitoso from casting Cure III. However, sometimes he will in fact get Cure III off sometimes, but just keep shooting. My partner and I often interrupted his casting mid-spell. When the THF can, he does SA/TA on Bitoso, and if he has TP, he can SA/TA Shadowstitch. Try to keep as much distance from him as possible because he also has a nasty Paralyzga spell that sucks when what you need to do is constantly hit with bolts. Also, make sure you always have Utsusemi up, because he will get loose sometimes and come after you.

Loot:

Here is our loot list for both BCNMs. The second drop is possibly the worst BCNM drop I have ever seen.

1. Bast Parchment, Sardonyx, Silk Thread, Killer's Earring.

2. Bast Parchment, Silk Thread, Chestnut Log, and something else, brain fart at the moment(I'll change later).

Conclusion

Although the other strategies listed on this page are great, this one IMO is by far the easiest to implement. Thanks alot to Schalk on Garuda for being my partner in crime and giving me this strategy. Good luck Bitoso hunting!
