Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Sky Orb, which is obtained by trading 30 Beastmen's Seals to Shami in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Sky Orb to the Burning Circle inside Balga's Dais and choose to enter the battle Creeping Doom.

Up to 3 people may enter and you will all receive a level 30 restriction. You have 15 minutes to win. You will face one opponent: A giant Crawler named Bitoso. He can cure himself, uses Paralyzga, all the regular crawler abilities, and has lots of HP. If you can bring him down you get a treasure crate filled with assorted rewards.

Strategies

BLM BLM DRK BLM BLM BLM

Make sure than the Black Mage's have /WHM and have Paralyna as the Crawler has an Area of Effect (AoE) Paralyze spell. You will also need Aspir/Sleep and a maxed Dark Magic skill level for this fight. Sleep and Aspir Bitoso until he has 0 MP and then nuke him until dead. He is resistant to Silence and casts Cure III on himself so it is important to drain all of his mana.

BLM BLM RNG

The Ranger will need to bring Sleep Bolts. Sleep and Paralyze Bitoso at the start of the fight. The Black Mages should then coordinate their nukes by casting together and the Ranger should sleep Bitoso with the bolts just after the spells hit. With repeated successful cycles, this battle should be easy.

DNC/NIN DNC/NIN NIN/WAR

Pretty easy BCNM. Went in with Utsusmei: Ichi up and some food buffs on and just traded taunt. The 2 dancers healed to trade taunt. Just played through the paralyze and cures and slows. Not a dangerous tactic but we got pretty close on the 15 minute period.

Our Bitoso fight
# Mar 06 2005 at 11:35 AM Rating: Decent
My Linkshell mates and I fought Bitoso thrice the other day and again 5 times more yesterday. We ended up using the trio of Black Mages as outlined above with a few modifications of my own.

Participants: Nem (Taru), Lilinoe (Mithra), Magdalena (Hume, me ^_^). All Black mage/White mage.
Food used per battle: 1 Melon Pie, 1 Drink of your choice.
Useful information: Crawlers are weak to elements of Ice, Lightning, and Darkness, from going back over the log I suspect that Bitoso has ~1100-1200 magic points counting back we drained 938 mps he got off 4 cure III (186) and one paralyga(don't know mp cost).
Notes: Each time we did this we got 4 pieces of treasure plus 1000gil, I suspect due to the nature of the battle that a silk thread is mandatorily given out. All eight times we got a silk thread. This leaves only three slots to potentially get a good treasure item from the list of ~26 items.

We tried to be uber organised so that we would know what to do. Organised a Sleep order so that if one of our sleeps was resisted the next person would step in. Our sleep order was Nem, Lili, Mag.

At the circle we all eat our pie and go in. Nem casts Protectra and uses Elemental Seal. The three of us approach the circle and all come to just inside. Lilinoe and Magdalena cast blizzard (casting time 2.5 sec) and shortly after the second person casts bliz Nem casts Sleep (Casting time 3 sec). Crawler is asleep.

Shortly after Bitoso is asleep I use the only Macro I will use during this BCNM macro is as follows

/ma "Aspir" <t>
/wait 3
/wait 60
/p <call> Aspir Ready

all three mages cast Aspir and then when the call goes off you hit macro/cast again. (have to use two wait commands as you can't set a command for more than 60 sec).

Lilinoe uses Elemental Seal. Nem and Magdalena cast Thunder (Casting time: 3 sec, use this in case my blizzard is not up yet). Lili casts Sleep as soon as second Thunder is being cast.

Magdalena uses Elemental Seal, Lilinoe and Nem cast Blizzard. Magdalena casts sleep.

We found it made things easier when the sleeper said "sleep ready" that the nukers assumed that they cast at that time. And it was good to go. Using that method we managed to drop our time from 10-2 min to 6 -7 min.

Rince, repeat. When you begin to drain 0 mps, basically unleash with whatever you want. If you brought a drink, chug it now. Drain is recommended for healing, cure II if needed. Have never needed Manafont, did use once for kicks. Our clear time record is 6:11, took as long as 12 something before.

Problems:
Sleep resisted: Next person in sleep order casts sleep.
No Sleep available: Bind. Bind is your friend, if sleep wears or someone accidentally burns it bind keeps it from running around killin' y'all.
Out of MP: Manafont (hasn't happened to us yet, I think the lowest I got was 21 mps at the end of the fight)
Should be no big deal, but mistakes can happen. Be careful, keep cool. with so much sleep you can

For fun (and profit?) our static LS did this tonight. RNG/NIN - Me, WAR/MNK, and a BLM/WHM. Before you start harassing, lemme explain - we took the tank in case things went south (and there was no one else available!) but I digress.

First time you fight this guy, his cure 3's are annoying - he was at 1/4 health for 7 mins. Then we got into the groove, I timed my sleep bolts, and the War stopped hitting it - thing went like clockwork.

11 min 11 sec. AND we were ready to finish it off with a Nuke/Barrage/Split Shot, when out of nowhere, it just died. Get him down low enough, and dont dispair - all it takes is one Paralyga (waste of a spell, poor guy xp> ) and he's going down!

Drops were a mythril ingot, d.steel ore, 2 silk threads and a Finale. Meh - paid for the trip, and soon to return!!!

EDIT - Have now done this 5 times this weekend. Currently hold the record on Ramuh - BLM accidently macro'd Manafront, and we just rolled with it - 4:56 I believe. Foods have been squid sushi for me, Jack-o-lantern for the War, and pies for the BLM. Only real issue with this is NO GOOD DROPS. In 5 runs, we have seen 1 magicians earring. STILL need Genin Earing, Erase, and Utsusemi: Ni.

At least the runs are paying for themselves!

war/mnk,drg/thf,rdm/blm

Think this setup could work? the war would sub nin but hed have to solo blink which =a bad idea.
If im not wrong both gaxes and spears deal peircing dmg which crawlers are weak agaianst(can someone confirm?) and if this can work, anyone got an idea for a strategy or a helpful tip?

Just did this bcnm twice today with a triple BLM setup and went 1/2, running out of time the first time. We went by the guide, but the second time we also had 1 party member doing a nuke while the 2 others did sleep when the crawler woke up during the aspiring period. This results in the crawler casting Cure III right away when it wakes up and kinda wasting MP since you're waiting for your aspir delay to wear off anyway. When it got to 0 MP we just used a triangular formation to bounce it around while casting blizzard / thunder / firaga / aeroga.

Just did this BCNM three times, can confirm the 3 BLM method. Went as Blm/Rdm myself (whm not at 15 >_>) and worked fine, it seemed like I landed more Sleeps too...

Ran out of time the first outing, but not our our Dark skills were capped, so that's probably why.

Wound up capping during the next battle, and beat that with 25 seconds to spare. We tried to nuke between sleeps, but sometimes no sleeps would land or would be paralyzed and we got hit pretty hard. We wound up with little MP near the end, 2 of us manafonted, one of which died unfortunately. But we did beat him.

Drops were Silk thread, dispel, Warlock Earring, and Genin earring. I'm still on a high hearing that the Genin earring goes for 800k on our server! (Asura)

Third time around beat it even quicker maybe 4 min left, only one manafont needed, I decided aquaveil was handy before nuking, but drops were all fairly low things, silk thread, the Bast Parchment, iron ingot, Hi-Ether.

Anyway, I'm ecstatic with how it went. Big ups to Bigsmooth and Nakor helping kick ***.
Generalizing

Well, I did this last night. Here's the set up:
RNG/THF (me), RNG/NIN, DRK/WAR.
Here's the story:
Run in, barrage+sharpshot. Then just aspir it and smack it with bloody bolts. Well, that didn't work. We died. Second try, went in, same strategy, except DRK just pumbled it and didn't waste time with aspir. Died. Poo. 3rd time, DRK/WAR switeched to WAR/DRK. Started the match. Same old, same old. Then, switched to sleep bolts. War dies. Me and RNG keep fighting. Finally discovered the secret: thwack it with holy/bloody/acid/blind bolts until it starts casting cure. switch to sleep blots. interrupts casting. Thing ddoesn't heal. Dies like a fat man choking on chicken. Wrestlers earing, steel ingot, silk thread, magic finale...suxed. Plan on doing this BCNM MANY more times...(Genin and Magician's earing...Erase, Ni, Dispel...how could I not want to?) Now that i have a relatively solidified strategy:
here's what ya need:
an RNG or a job that can equip SLeep bolts.
a Tanking position, never engages.
a Full-Force DD.
DD's go in start pmubling it. Tank holds hate as best as he can, curing in whatever way he can, keeping alive however he can.
DD just unleashes on the damned critter.
RNG sleeps it when it starts casting cure.
DD doesn't matter, but RNG would be ideal. Tank isn't too specific, but a PLD or a WAR/NIN would be best i think. the Sleeper doesn't matter, but a RNG would be best so that it can do DMG too.
I think a THF/RNG, DRG/WHM, PLD/WAR (Jobs that never go to BCNM)could pull this off. Just sleep it when he cures, keep your HP up and you'll be fine. And that's my two cents. :)
Smn can get it :PP

I (smn) , blm and rng do the BCNM30 Creeping Doom and we kick *** :PP Beat the Gilgamesh record with 2 min 45 sec :PP try to beat that . (with all 2hour used)
Can a NIN do this?
# Feb 13 2005 at 9:55 AM Rating: Decent
Could anyone post some strategies for a NIN doing this with 2 BLMs or RNGs? Maybe the NIN could debuff while the other two deal damage?
goodness
# Feb 08 2005 at 1:01 PM Rating: Decent
ok, ive done this REALLY easy with 3rng, all elv (lol) and crossbow +sleep and holy bolts.
go in, barrage, food, sharpshot, utsu, and hit the crawler with barrages.
you spam sleep bolts until you have 100%+ tp and then equip holy bolts, and WS BUT NOTIFY THE PT SO THEY'RE READY
repeat process until dead, you should be done by barrage is ready~ ENJOY
drops are ******, except for genin, utsu, warlocks? and some other random ones

# Feb 02 2005 at 8:29 AM Rating: Decent
I have wanted to do this for a while now with my LS but i cant seem to find a 3rd person who wants to go with me. So far my setup is this:
Rng/Nin (me)
Drk/War
???
I have been an archery Rng the whole way and my marksmanship is very low(Like level 10 low). I need money badly to level woodworking higher and for upper level equipment. i personally thought we needed a blm/whm for aspir and sleep along with healing and paralyna, but thats just me. Any suggestions on a third member and any comments on the setup as of yet would be greatly appreciated, and any suggestions about necessary gear would help alot too.
Strategy Help
# Jan 31 2005 at 2:25 AM Rating: Decent
Ok guys can anybody give me a little help with this setup:

RDM/BLM, WAR/THF, WHM/MNK (i know its a crappy Sub for WHM)

I was just thinking doing it like a "normal" mob. First RDM sleeps it and WAR will do a Sneak Attack to start the fight. WAR uses Provoke and Mighty Strikes while RDM is debuffing it and WHM heals the WAR. WHM should be able to heal alone so that RDM can meele and debuff till end.

Do you think that will work ? Thanks for any advices.
Timed Out!
# Jan 30 2005 at 6:48 AM Rating: Decent
Alright, we went last night just cause we were pumped up from how well we did on Promyvion runs through Dem and Mea.

Party:

Pld/War
Whm/Smn
Drk/Blm

It was pretty much a standstill all the way through until the time ran out. 15 minutes of trading hate and healing for us and the crawler. Then we were kicked out on our rears. We'll try again some other time, but thanks to the advice of everyone here, I think we'll do better. Thanks everyone!
kinda easy
# Jan 28 2005 at 12:08 AM Rating: Decent
ive done this with just 2 rngs(me and another one). just use crossbows and sleep bolts. it will get a couple of lucky shots in(usually poison and a cure 3). unless they nerfed that way...
good, but.....
# Jan 24 2005 at 8:03 AM Rating: Decent
That's a pretty good stragety, the only thing i see wrong with it is that you can only do it every 2 hours. Ofcourse, if you're trying to set a record, it is the best way.

Good Idea though, rate up ^^
A very good way
# Jan 24 2005 at 1:58 AM Rating: Excellent
A very easy BCNM for summoners and rangers basically. A party of 3 summoners own this crawler.
Me and 2 other summoners on Seraph have repeatedly broken the clear time and have made ove 500k each on him.
The strategy is simple: It's almost exactly the same strategy used to solo the avatars as a lvl 20 smn.
Each person simply brings a Yag drink and 1 hi-ether. We walk up a little bit, cast barparalyze, then we all summon shiva (crawlers are weak to ice), drink the yag drink, then astral flow. We have the shivas assault him, use Diamond dust, roughly 440 dmg each, then sit back as he wails on them. Then while we are waiting for our Blood Pacts to recharge he always casts Paralyga. So we have paralnya waiting for him, then we all use Diamond Dust again and... boom, he's dead. Clear time for Seraph is 2 min 26 secs i think and we have gotten:
2 Genin Earrings
1 Warlock's Earring
1 Utsusemi: Ni
and some other crap.
I am not sure exactly how summoners would work with rangers in the battle, but you could still probably win.
omg, so dam easy
# Jan 21 2005 at 10:52 PM Rating: Excellent
I can't stress enough how easy this BCNM is if you have a solid strategy. Me and my 2 LS buddies set the record on pandy with this menthod. Our set-up was as follows:

- Thf/Nin(me)
- Rng/Nin(Emro, good friend)
- Blm/Rdm(Veralise, also a good friend)

And now for the strategy. I'll write it in steps just to make it easier to read.

1. Enter Battlefield. Mage Buffs and everyone uses their food. (Mage uses Melon Pie and Pineapple juice, ranged attackers use Windurst Salad.)

2. Ranger uses (Barrage + Sharpshot) and fires off a holy bolt. The other ranged attacker should hit their shoot macro as soon as they see the "Barrager" pull our their bow. Bitosos should now be asleep if timing was correct.

3. Both ranged attackers wait until they see the Blm start casting a spell, and then fire off a sleep bolt. So when you see "Blm begins casting fire..." hit ur shoot macro. If successful, the crawler should lose a small chunk of life, and once again be asleep.

4. Rinse and repeat step 3, and make sure the Blm has drink, because chances are he/she will need them.

Now I hear people using 3 Blms and just aspiring the poor crawler, but that just takes way too much time, our lowest time(and record) was 4 minutes 58 seconds. All I can say is that other methods are possible, but this proved by far to be the easiest.

We walked away with 100k each after 5/5 successful runs, but our only good drops where Mercaneries Earring (80k) and Wizards Earring(220k). I plan to do 10 more runs, and ill post the results and any patterns i've noticed.

Please rate up if you find this info useful ^^.

{Thank You}

Just wondering, I can easily do the THF and RNG part, but my friend's BLM is only lvl 26 at the moment, and he dosen't have a RDM high enough to sub for BLM, so he'll have to use WHM... do you suppose this can still work?

Dang.... tried twice, failed both times... I suppose it'll help to have the BLM lvl 30...

But there should be lots of mention of high potions and mega-ethers.... we figured that if those were available, we would have survived....

And sleep bolts don't stick sleep on the thing for very long.....

Well, me, a LS mate, and friend's friend just did this thing three times. I provided two orbs, the friend provided another one. It was his first time going to a BCNM. We were all black mages: 2x Tarutaru, 1x Mithra. We beat this thing the first two times, then somehow accidently died on the third. During the first, everything went according to plan, no 2hrs were used. The second time, the LS mate used Manafont, but Bitoso was low on HP, so it possibly could have been avoided. The third time, we just ran out of MP, and sadly died.

We got crap drops. Absolute crap. We got a total of:
2x Spool of Silk Thread
2x Iron Ingot
1x Magic Finale
1x Steel Ingot
1x Mythril Ingot
1x Bast Parchment

For a total of about 20k on our server.

Anyway, like I said, we went as three black mages. Me and the LS mate brought a pie (I melon, he apple) and a pineapple juice a piece. I'm not sure if the other guy brought anything. Anyway, off the bat, we used Drain for a few hp, then one of us would elemental seal + sleep. The elemental seal was not needed, but however it did good as an indicator of how much time left. Once it was slept, we ran in and spread out. Then we all Aspir'd it. When it awoke, one of the other two would ES + sleep. The ES here is not needed, but it worked for us. We'd aspir again. Anyway we must have gotten this done a few times, 7, maybe. When it awoke, we hit our sleep macro before it could land paralyzega. When we were done aspir'ing, we cast enfeebles on it, like slow. at this point we'd use our pie and juice. Then we used our strongest spell, which was Water II, to awake it. I realized we could have done Firaga, but it cost too much MP. Anyway, then, it'd come chasing after one of us, so one of us would bind it. the second time we did it, we didn't use ES with sleep, so we used it with bind. then nukes proceed again. it rarely cast cure III now, but occasionally a paralyzega. speaking of which, a /WHM sub is important since you have curing abilities, and also Paralyna. anyway, we'd run around, bind, nuke. several cures were needed. as for an estimation of how much damage it hit us for, I was wearing my seer's +1 set, which gave me a total of 105 defense with protect. it hit me in the high 40s and low 50s. cure IIs were used to patch damage up. i didn't get a number for how much my stone II was hitting him for, but my firaga hit him for about 160 damage and water II for 138. also, drain at it's full potential was very nice, it drained about 93 HP. my water IIs and firagas would take away around 8% of his total HP. anyway, that's what we did, 2/3 on it. hopefully the drops next time will be better.

oh, and this took us about 13 minutes. the record was 3 minutes 34 seconds - wtf?

We did this BCNM30 TWICE tonight, and you know what we get?

Silk Thread x2 (given), 2 Iron Ingot, Mythril Ingot, Steel Ingot and a Bast Parchement. YAY!

Last try, we're going to do this again. C'mon, Genin's Earring and Erase. X_X;;
Horrible Setup - That worked.

RDM/WHM, BLM/WHM, RNG/NIN = Dead grub. RDM was in charge of Gravity/Debuff/Paralyna, Blm and Rng ran around like idiots, poping shots off. Nothing really to brag about, took us close to 13 minutes, 10K in supplies (Yag Drink/Rolanberry Pie/Ethers/Icarus Wings), and a LOT of arrows out of my pocket. We knew nothing about this BCNM when we went in, just that only 3 ppl could go in, and it was tough. We almost did ourselves in with the RDM wasting his needed MP on Silence (Elvaan mage... pfft), but after the 3rd Resist, he got the picture, poped an Ether, and we got moving. Basically, all we did blast him, run away, blast him, run away. Kite him around. I (rng) was the only one who had to 2hr (hadly a scratch in his bar with close to 400 damage). Kite him, and deal damage faster than he could heal himself. By no means was this the best strategy, but, for 3 completly ignorant ppl, with a few seals to burn, we ended up getting a Genin Earring (Which I kept, +4 agi is always good for a RNG/Nin), Ni, and I think it was Erase. Im not sure, I asked for the Earring, forfieting any claim to gil off the scrolls. NEways. In all honesty, I would NOT recomend this setup at all... unless you wanna have a lot of fun. I took a few good pops due to my inability to keep Utsusemi up in my laughter. Ohh well, thought I would share my story. Im thinking about going back with a few other RNG friends of mine, and just Trading Hate. I dunno.
meh, team of 2 ^^
