Battle Notes

In order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Cloudy Orb, which is obtained by trading 20 Beastmen's Seals to Shami in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Cloudy Orb to the door of the Ghelsba Outpost hut and choose to enter the battle Wings of Fury.

Up to 3 people may enter and you will all receive a level 20 restriction. You have 15 minutes to win. You will fight three enemies:

Won with Bst/Whm, Blu/Whm, and Pld/War
# Nov 26 2008 at 9:44 PM Rating: Decent
Was pretty easy with Bst/whmx1 Blu/whmx1 and Pld/warx1

Won three times with little difficulty

+CHR gear/food for the Bst is a MUST. All three times, we went in, Bst ate a Tuna sushi or Tavnazian Taco( Bst had +22chr after eating the taco). Blu casted protectra, Bst casted aquaveil on himself, pld casted shell on us all, rested to full MP, Blu casts cocoon. Bst charms furies on the right and 2hrs, took him a few tries with only +20 chr but got the charm first try with +21-22. So assuming you get the charm first try, sick the furies on the Colo-colo, and have the Pld pull the remaining furies away from the Colo-colo to prevent aggro, Then pld just starts meleeing, and blu just starts bludgeoning the **** out of the furies, which takes them down VERY quick, because Bludgeon does massive damage. After the furies are done with, make sure Colo-colo is winning, if it looks like he might lose have your furies heel, and let them die, but the Colo-colo will most likely win, leaving you to kill it easily within 10 seconds.

Bst-Tavnazian Taco or Tuna Sushi(preferrably the sushi for more +chr)and
2-4 Hi-pots in case of mischarms.

Blu-2 Hi-pots, which will most likely not be needed unless bst fails on first charm, but nice to have just incase.
Melon juicex2 for constant bludgeon and incase you have to cure Bst while he attempts to recharm.

Pld-1 Hi-pot Just incase.

Astral Ring 1/3
Thunder spirit pact 2/3

ive done this bcnm countless times wether its soloing or duoing it the best solo job to have is in fact bst ive done it bst/nin for the dual wield im a galka so if i subbed whm it wouldnt help much. charm a furies and pop 2 hour send it to fight the colo-colo make sure you have about 10 hi pots and an au laut fight the other furies you should be able to beat it before your charmed furies is dead so rest DO NO T ATTACK COLO-COLO because if you kill it before your charmed furies is dead your two-hour lasts 30 minutes you just failed unless u can cancel two-hour (idk how) bye the time your furies is dead the colo colo should take just two-3 more hits and hes dead.

ive duoed this easily without my twohour my bst/nin and a sam/war charm first furies and have him attack colo colo have sam start fighting other furies until you can help kill that one relatively quickly and then come back to fighting the colo-colo hopefully your charm is still up. have sam pop two hour on the colo colo and kill him then the last furies. i recommend a bunch of hi potions each but ive never lost duoing with a sam.

the last trio combo that ive had is me bst/nin sam/war sam/war we did this for fun like the duo i charmed the first furies and sent him after the Colo-Colo the two sams beat the first furies then both two houred the colo-colo by that time the last furies was easy. we beat the record and noones gotten close yet to beating it ^^

Just solo'd this as 20 BST/WAR (Galka) on my first try. Went in with 6 Hi-Potion+2, 2 Pamama Au Laits,4 Boiled Crayfish and a stack of Pet Food Zeta, and came out with 1 Hi-Potion+2, 10 Pet Food Zeta, 3 Boiled Crayfish, a Gunromaru, 1500 gil, a bat fang, a Platoon Sword, and a Scroll of Sneak. Trying again for astrals once my 2 hour comes back.

So here's how it went down. I used a boiled crayfish and a Pamama Au Lait before entering the battlefield. Once in, I charmed the Furies on the right (first charm successful), sent them after Colo-Colo till they got hate, then sent them after the other Furies till they got hate, then back on Colo-Colo. Then I ran to the other side of the battlefield while they duked it out, and remembered to use Familar (lol). That's when I noticed that the hp regen from my Au Lait was removed when I entered the battlefield... so I popped my second Au Lait, and sat down to rest. When my furies were about dead, I used reward to give them about 1/3 of their life (350 hp) back. I didn't get any hate at all from reward. Then, I sat back down until they died. When they died, I stood up, and failed at charming the other furies twice before a successful charm. Then I sent them at Colo-Colo, used a Hi-Potion+2, and sat down to rest. When the furies were about dead, I used reward to heal them again. Shortly thereafter, Charm broke. I stood up, and 2 Hi-Potion+2 and 3 Charms later, I had them back under control. I send them against Colo-Colo again, and then got hit with poisonga -.- But, it didn't last long, and the au lait was regening me through it anyway. After poison came off, I rested until the Furies died. By this time it was just me and Colo, me with about 2/3 of my hp, and colo with about 1/10 or less. I melee'd him down the rest of the way. He drained me once and used the drain weaponskill (I forget the name) once, as well as marrow drain (which Aspir'd that mp that I didn't have to begin with). I used 2 more Hi-Potion+2's (one of them wasn't needed, but I figured it would be nice to have that extra 120 hp in case Colo decided to pull something strange like Elemental Seal + Drain or something XD) and then finished him off with Raging Axe. Whoo! See top of post for loot list :D
Beware, just in case

I am not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere, but try to avoid going on Firesday (as well as Darksday and Windsday). Each time I waited for Darksday to end and Firesday to begin, I got rocked by the Furries and Colo Colo. Not only are they harder to Charm, but I believe they hit me A LOT harder. I may be wrong/superstitious of course, but this is what I noticed, because the two times I went on Firesday I died (very quickly I might add).

Got the Astral Ring, second try. BST, DNC and WHM.
Got to the last bat and we were resting... then it turned on the BST (me) and I died. Then the DNC lost connection and the WHM died too. Anyways, the DNC managed to solo the last bat, he's awesome O.o And... Astral ring, Thunder spirit pact and a bunch of crap, to the WHM, Hurray! :P
# Mar 30 2008 at 7:59 AM Rating: Decent
I was the WHM.

Yeah we did this BCNM a minimum of 8 times. Got 2 astral rings. A few thunder spirits. Only failed once with the WHM, DNC, BST set up.

Just one thing....Dont try 2DNC with DRG/WHM lol didnt work out.

Oh, also on Shiva server, astral ring + thunder spirit got me 220k total. Although i believe i could of got 240k if i tried.

I feel your pain. I duo'd this fight twice earlier today with a bst buddy, I landed every single charm with no problems, he couldn't get several to land. We did fine, but didn't get the ring drop either time.

So, with my confidence up, I decided that tonight I would try to solo them. The explanations made sense and it seemed that I would do fine. I followed the solo guide in wiki, grabbed all the stuff I needed, and headed to the door. In addition, I made sure it was lightsday. (although I don't think it mattered!)

Upon entering, I ate tavnazian taco, periskos, and made sure to have a crap load of +CHR gear on. Casted protect, and then proceeded to charm one of the furies.

I tried several times to charm both furies...NONE LANDED!Smiley: mad After several hits from all three bats...I was dead in no time. Other than losing exp, time, and money...I have to say things went well. If, of course, I enjoyed pain.

So, long story short...I feel your pain. Sometimes, it doesn't matter what the hell you do, you're gonna get screwed. I'll just try again later and see what the weather brings.

So pld rdm and bst whooped up on this but ended up losing because the bats would not un charm in the end. So we beat all but the charmed bats in 3 min, but waited 27 min for time to end and got nothing. All because charm stuck too well. Bst needs to be able to uncharm or something.

I got my butt kicked the first time I tried to solo this as BST. Mischarm, they mass drained me, I ran outta Hi-pots... Ghelsba dirt is bitter...

Came back with a RDM and ended up mischarming X4 before it finally worked. But I ended up getting my revenge in the end.

No ring though >.<

What are the chances of a BST and a BLU duo'ing this, and any strategies that could be used?

I'd imagine it's possible if a BST can Solo, so it should be slightly easier with a BLU helping right, perhaps with a few items to help heal and give MP? etc.
First success
# Sep 30 2007 at 1:32 PM Rating: Decent
So today I tried this BCNM as my first ever BCNM. I had had the Cloudy Orb for over 2 years (I quit playing for about a year and a half, and just started back up). I went in as a BST/WHM. I took with me 7 Hi-Potion +2s (on Quetz they are only 800 gil apiece).

So, right when the fight started, I just went up and charmed the left Furies and had it attack Colo-Colo. I also used my 2 hr at this point. Then I took the other Furies away and meleed them. Once Colo-Colo killed my pets, I attempted to charm the Furies I was fighting...it failed. So I ran like a little girl and tried again, and this time it stuck. I turned them on Colo-Colo and they ended up killing him. Then I just sat and waited for my charm to wear off (did a little bit of healing at this time). When it wore off, I used my WS that I had been storing up and killed the Furies. I ended up getting:

Bat Fang
Bat Wing
Platoon Dagger
Platoon Edge
Scroll: Thunder Spirit Pact

So, no Ring drop...but still not bad. I also ended up setting a new record time of 6:02 (old record being 6:23). This was a great first BCNM experience, and it was relatively easy to do solo with BST/WHM. So, I will definitely do this again.

A couple of LS mates and I decided to give this BCNM a shot today.

We tried two slightly different set-ups.

First run was

BLU/??? (can't remember the sub for the life of me)
RNG/NIN (myself)

For the second and third run, the RDM/WHM changed to DRG/WHM.

The first run was tricky. Our plan was to have the Blue Mage run in and use Sheep Song. Since it's light based, we figured we'd have a chance of sleeping at least one of the bats. Well, it didn't work this time - all three resisted. I ended up doing the majority of the damage, and went through four hi-potions to stay alive. Even though my gear wasn't all that great, I had enough accuracy to land my ranged attacks 90% of the time and do anywhere from 40-50 damage on the Furies and 35-45 on Colo-Colo. I won't go into much more detail, as this set-up was less than ideal. We barely managed to scrape through, but no Two Hours were used.

Second and third run went much smoother with the DRG/WHM. We tried the Sheep Song strategy again, and it worked! Colo-Colo and one of the Furies were put to sleep, which gave us free reign to beat the crap out of the bat that resisted. We then took out the other Furies and ended with Colo-Colo. Third fight went exactly the same way, the only exception being that all three were put to sleep at the start. ^^

While Colo-Colo's AoE Poison is a bit annoying, I'd classify him as the least dangerous mob of the three. The Furies use a nasty AoE attack called Turbulance, and hit pretty hard with their usual attacks. They have pretty low HP, however, and when we focused on one it only took about a minute to kill it, if that.

Drops were dismal. Myself and the Blue Mage got,

500 Gil
- Bat Fang
- Bat Wing
- Black Rock
- Scroll of Invisible
- Mythril Beastcoin

The DRG/WHM got,

500 gil
- Platoon Dagger
- Thunder Spirit Pact

So while we got **** all for drops (except for the Thunder Spirit scroll), it was a fun BCNM, and my first successful one. ^^b
Soloed as BST
# Jul 31 2007 at 2:23 PM Rating: Decent
Relatively Not too hard.

Soloed as 20bst/10whm

Was a BST/WHM my first time soloing this as a bst.

For Charming -- For Melee
Monster Signa --Battleaxe +1
2X Hope Rings --Lantern Shield
Noble'S Ribbon --2x Courage Rings
Leaping Boots --Trump Crown
Bird Whistle --Leaping Boots
Kingdom Gloves --Wing Pendant
Scale Cuisses --Scale Cuisses
Garrison Tunica --Garrison Tunica

I prepared Heavily for this fight

10 Hi-Potions +2 (1K each)
1Tavnazian Taco ( I chose the extra 20hp20mp 1dex 6vit 3 agi and 25% Def over Sushi since the sushi was a % acc and I was only level 20 it wasnt really worth using) This cost me 2k for one.
1 Pamama Au Lait 1.3k

I entered the battlefield alone. Casted Protect and Aquaveil used tavnazian taco, rested to full mp hp since the taco added 20/20 hp/mp Then used the pamama au lait to not waste the hp regen while standing around.

Macroed into my Charm gear. Charmed the Furies on the left mischarmed 2 times had to run around and use 3 hi potions +2 finnaly charmed. Sent to attack Colo-Colo used 2hr. ran away from battle, let the other fury come to me melee'd the uncharmed fury, but then the charmed fury died against colo so i tried to charm the one i was meleeing, Mischarmed.

After the mischarm I ran around until charm was up charmed it and sent to attack Colo-Colo.

Colo was at 19% when I sent to attack it died I melee'd the furies to death.

No drop.

What I would Change? I would used DEX rings instead of courage rings, my accuracy was horrible with capped axe skill was missing almost 2/5 the time.

I thought using the tavnazian taco was a very good idea it boosted my def to 126 and I was only being hit for around 12 dmg by the furies but what almost killed me was running around and having drain hit me.

Good Luck with this BCNM everyone
Astral ring

I did this bcnm 8 times now and won 7 (1 *****-up ><)
My Drops: Astral Ring 1/7 Platoon weapons: 2/7 Thunder pact: 1/7 Rocks: 2/7
This was my setup:

-Mnk/War <Kairy> me ^^
-Smn/Whm <kakashiuchiha>
-Bst/Whm <Pushpa>

We basicly went in did some buffs and consumed food, then i'd charge to the left Furies provoking it while BST charmed the right 1 and let him fight Colo Colo. The smn
Used Shiva to attack colo and 2hr "Daimond dust" While i kill the left bat with 100 fists and trowing some combo's at him, and occasionally using a hi-potion. after i killed it i attacked colo who was at 1/3 of his health so easy kill and the furies will almost be dead too at that point. After u kill em all a chest appears and u'll get gill and items.

Hope this helps a little for any1 who has yet to do this bcnm.

btw i also hold the record on my server (Ifrit) for this Bcnm which is 3min 45secs.

I considered this combination a while back, seeing as how a hume blu/bst has very nearly as much chr as a bst/blu with signa at 20. Maybe with the right food and alil help it could work very well. I'll test it out and post the results...

I've recently completed this BCNM as a level 20 BST/BRD. Dominated. I took along Selbina Milk for extra Regen, Tuna Sushi, and Hi-Pots for mischarms. Before engaging, I prepared myself by singing a little melody that I like to call "Army's Paeon", then engaged. For some reason I'm drawn to charm that left Furrie when inside, so I charm him (when he allows me), use Familiar, then send him on Colo-colo. Once he has Colo off of me, I send my charmed Furrie to attack the other Furrball. While they all fight eachother, move away and heal or what-not. Be careful though because if you're too close to the group and you use Hi-Pots or Selbina Milk while the bats are fighting, you can gain hate and the whole group of bats (besides the charmed Furrie) will come at you with a vengeance. One Furrie should eventually die, so charm the other and send him on Colo-colo when you can. Keep singing to yourself in between bat run-ins to make sure you dont run out of Paeon, and if you mischarm, run around like a little school girl who has wet her pants until you land that charm. In the end, you'll obviously be one-on-one with either a Furrie or our buddy Colo, so be prepared for battle. I set up /equip macroes so I was able to change from charming equipment to defensive equipment throughout the battle. If you are fighting a Furrie at the end and are low on HP, don't hesitate to charm the lil' guy to allow yourself some time to heal. All in all, this is a fun BCNM, especially for those who have never done 'em before, let alone solo.

Final note: This was my second try at this solo. First time was as level 20 BST/WHM and I didn't make it out alive. I think the extra CHR from BRD helps, but I also want to say that I went on their weak element day, Lightninsgday I believe, to try and get any advantage possible. I am also now more of a BST fan than ever before. Good luck and have fun!

I have always had some ideas about getting certain NMs and doing some BCNMs solo, at least those that I think I can do that way. This is what takes my game to new levels, not necessary level-exping. (I dont like the new concept of ra/ex drops on NMs too much; I rather try to overcome bots and gilsellers with stubborness and brain then the growing problem with storage I see coming if I continue hunting NMs the way I do (102/765 if all on Allakhazam counts).
I have never liked whm sub so when my bst hit 20 and I did my first tries on this solo I subbed blu instead. It took me four tries before I finally succeeded. Charm did not always stick even if you have a few extra CHR as /BLU (and this was with Tavnazian Tacos too (last rounds I where looking for Tuna Sushi but couldnt find any singles on AH and I couldnt afford a stack). It seems that if it is the wrong day your sometimes doomed right from the start. I don't have enough experience of this to tell what works best and what to avoid. But, yeah, be careful with, debuffs. Cocoon is the only really necessary spell but others are good for stats of course.
But I got some of it on video: Check http://hosted.filefront.com/Tummetott for solocolo.avi. Enjoy.
And I am glad to tick this off my list.

P.S. And broke the record too btw (as you can see on the last screen in the film). But how does that work? Is it separate records for different number of participants or?

eh... P.P.S. The site I have my filmclips on, and also pictures, is a little funny and things dissapear all of a sudden. I put the soundless version back once but saw recently that it was gone again... Gonna try put it back again soon.

# Feb 07 2007 at 12:00 AM Rating: Decent
Hey all btw the hut is at G-9 in Ghelsba Outpost in case you were wondering.

Just soloed this as Bst/Blu.

Used standard strategy, but a word to the wise. If your going as Bst/blu be careful and don't over debuff the Culu, then the remaining Fury will be very strong. When the Culu died the remaining Fury was at about half life, it was a very tough battle. Just killing the Fury at that amount took me 2 Hi-potions, a yagudo drink, and a pear au lait, and it still came down to the last two hits. So be careful about that, you want the last solo fury to be near dead.

edit: my friend who also soloed this as bst/whm told me something else you should know. Don't use 2-hour on the second fury.

he did this, and what happens is that your pet will kill colo-colo, and then never uncharm, and when time runs out, you will lose.

Also set new record on Gilgamesh with bst/blu bst/whm and blm/whm, just doing it for kicks.. it's a waste of seals, the drop rate for ring for me is 1/9 atm.

my 10+ job levels are 35drk, 32war, 19mnk, 17blm, 16whm. are there any workable combinations from these job levels that i could use for this. i have never done a bcnm before and i know i can't do it alone. also, i know drk would suck b/c the bats are based on drk and my drk magic and 2hr would be useless. i was thinking maybe war/whm, or get whm to 20 and use whm/blm, but i'm a galka so that would probably suck. regardless i want to try, but i don't know what to use. any thoughts would be appreciated.
be better of doing other bcnm?
# Jan 29 2007 at 7:39 PM Rating: Decent
bst/whm would be the best job to get this bcnm done. this bcnm has such a horrid rate of drop on the ring that i wouldn't attempt it with any other job. (of course, bst/whm meaing at least 2 bst/whm) at least kill the bats and give yourself a chance at a drop. no kill, 0% drop. so if you're willing to give this bc a shot, i'd suggest go level your bst. otherwise, there's lots of other options with other bcnm's that will work with the jobs you have. good luck.

btw, i'm (i think) 6/42. maybe bad luck, maybe bad drop rate.

EDIT: don't attempt on windsday or darksday unless you want excitement with a lot of missed charms.

btw, i'm (i think) 6/42. maybe bad luck, maybe bad drop rate.

Unfortunately it's not bad luck, and yes it is a very bad drop rate.

I've solod this bcnm with my bst about 45 times and i've gotten the ring 7 times. the good thing about this bcnm is it's easily soloable if you buy yourself a hi-potion tank. i've never lost in 45 fights.

Bad thing about this fight is, even if you win you're probably not going to have anything to show for your trouble. sometimes you may get a thunder pact, which was selling for about 50k a pop when i was doing this bcnm regularly, but other than that, it's a waste of seals.

if you can find a party to do a bcnm with a higher drop rate of good items, i'd suggest skipping this one all together. just not good enough.
