BCNM 20
# Apr 30 2004 at 5:59 AM Rating: Decent
Me and 3 of my friends did this 3x yesterday.

we had a WAR/THF, WHM/BLM, MNK/THF and DRG/WAR<-me

Only used Protect I and Shell I, kabobs and juices

Me and the MNK would alternate to go in.

First time the MNK went in with the WAR and the WHM and they got wooped (WHM died before using Bene)

2nd Time i went in. Me and the WAR Renkei'ed as much as we could (Had a low hit % on them) and the WHM did'nt have to use Bene until only Colo-Colo was left, it was a close call but we made it!

The last time we got wooped again (w/o 2hr's)

2hr are a must in this fight!

2 Hour is not a must. My ls has done this 5 times and have won 4 out of 5 times. Never used a 2 hour yet.

Ranger, Beastmaster & WhiteMage is what we used.
Very easy fight.
Beastmaster charms one of the bats, makes it attack the other. Both bats are taking damage attacking each other. Ranger attacks colo-colo, whitemage heals the ranger. The one time it failed was because the beastmaster lost charm on the bat and couldn't regain it. Both bats turned on him and Drained HP like crazy killing him.

Also like other posts suggested. Go in with 300% TP. Helps alot.

Well, it's also only been out about a week now - it's still a rare (scarce) item in the game - as more people do this BCNM, you'll find that the price will start dropping quite a bit.

It may also drop from other mobs, too - haven't really been around long enough to find out.
my experience....

I tried for the 4th time today and finally beat it. We had two MNK/WAR (one of them was myself) and one WHM/BLM. Upon entering the fight, the other MNK provoked Colo-Colo and used his 2-hr, and we continued to beat down on him until he was dead. I used combo on the first Furies and then hit my 2-hr, continuing with that onto the second one. When my 2-hr wore out, I used up my tp (Combo) and just continued beating on it until it was dead. During this time, the other MNK (galka, btw) was firing off combo as he got tp and the WHM used Bene when he ran out of mp (on the last Furies), but I managed to hold aggro with all the damage I was doing. Only buffs we had were Protect I and Shell I, the WHM used an Apple Pie (and juice during the fight), and each MNK used a Meat Mithkabob. So nothing terribly special, but it would have been nice if we could have pulled it off without using 2-hrs.

The payoff was more than worth it: 500 gil, Bat Fang, Mithril Beastcoin, Purple Rock, and a Thunder Spirit Pact
got it...

Just beat this. 3rd times a charm cuz we finally survived haha.

Went in with me lvl 28 whm, 20 rng, 25 mnk (all capped of course when we went in), protect II, shell, and 300 tp on the melees.

We took out one of the furies first, then the second furie, then colo and we ALL ended up using our 2hrs to do it.

Drops: Platoon lance, platoon edge, scroll of silence, batfang.

There was a pt before us who killed it too: they had a rng, whm, bst. The bst charmed one of the furies and the rest pretty much relaxed and watched the show. :P

selling platoon lance for 20k, platoon edge for 15k

I'm not quite sure if entering the battlefield in Ghelsba Outpost would cause loss of TP. It may be the exception, since you don't zone to another place (like Horlais Peak, Balgas Dais, and Waughroon Shrine) to actually fight the notorious monster.

I'll have to test this.

From a previous post I made in the forums:

Decided to go do BCNM20 in Ghelsba Outpost with some LS friends.

You will fight three bats: Colo-colo (one bat model), and two Furies (three bat model).

Colo-colo will spam Poisonga & Drain, as well as all three doing Jet Stream, and some other Stream moves.

Long story short, we went 3 for 3, and even have the shortest clear time on record: 2 minutes, 47 seconds. (GO GO LEMONY! Props to my LS ^^)

We had a Hume Ranger/ninja with extremely good gear, and me (a Mithra Ranger/ninja with much better than average gear), and a taru whm.

Here's the short & sweet guide to our success.

TP to 300% before entering. Decide a skillchain (Piercing Arrow -> Piercing Arrow works decently well.)

Overbuff. We used ProtectIII, ShellII, Haste, and Regen before entering, as well as the whm using Stoneskin & Blink.

After entrance, both rangers target the same Furie, and skillchain it. It should be nearly dead at this point, and you can move on to the second Furie. Pound that one into dirt, and you should have enough TP to skillchain the big bat (named Colo-colo). After this, it's just a matter of pounding more arrows into it until it dies.

We did this three times, here are the drops we recieved:

Platoon Edge (ranged weapon, boomerang)
13 Damage; 294 Delay; Level 20
THF/RNG

Platoon Lance (Polearm)
37 Damage; 492 Delay; Level 20
DRG

Platoon Dagger
8 Damage; 150 Delay; Level 20
THF/RNG/RDM/BRD

We always recieved a Bat Fang & a mythril beastcoin.

1 Yellow Rock

2 Deodorize Scrolls

1 Scroll of Thunder Spirit Pact (which our wonderful whm promptly used, since she's now in an all-out gung-ho attempt at leveling summoner, since she can actually get the avatars).

While I wouldn't say that any of the drops are "uber", they were pretty nice rewards. The Lance, especially - that's some serious damage at level 20 O.o

I'm just happy that I have another 150 delay dagger, since my Beestinger wasn't really cutting the mustard (or the enemy) anymore.

So good luck to all of you as you attempt the new BC battles ^^;

Some further info that others may find helpful:

The two Furies (the three bat model) check as "Impossible to Gauge" but can be charmed by a Beastmaster, as long as they have large amounts of +CHR gear. Just don't expect the charm to hold too long (1-3 minutes was the normal duration from the two fights I watched with two BST, both wearing Monster Signa.)

I've heard (haven't verified) that a summoner can pull without linking these using Carbuncle or an elemental.

Just a note on BST charming furies ^^.
We broke the record on Shiva server yesterday, BST/WAR + WAR/MNK + BLM/WHM.
BST charms fury against fury and uses 2hr -- the fury stayed charmed until the end. WAR used 2 hr, we all attacked the colo colo and it died rather fast. What took the longest was waiting for the furies to kill each other. The 3 of us hoping that the charmed one would die... Waited forever and luckily the pet died... We fully healed in the meantime, one hit and last fury dead. Got platoon sword and mythril beastcoin... And record broken 4 minutes and something. It took forever for those bats to kill each other! And if the charmed one didn't die first it would have taken even more time for it to uncharm lol.
And I'm a Mithra so my CHR is not that great and they charmed just fine. And they stayed charmed until the end, in fact if they hadn't died we would have had to stand there forever waiting to kill them.
So yeah, if you bring a BST to charm the furies (and use 2hr) they will stay charmed. Perhaps for too long. ;)
Edit note: we just did this BCNM again, I knew you can't go in with TP and buffs but after reading the post above I thought well if it worked for them, we could do it...
NOT TRUE!!! We tested it and the obvious is correct: you can't go in with TP or buffs because you ZONE, even though you are still there and people can see you fight behind the fence. I also tried to not use 2 hour so we woudn't risk having the charmed fury survive and run out of time. It stayed charmed for 2 secs then uncharmed and I wasn't able to charm it again... We all died. ><
My new activity? Hunting the Torrent and hoping to get a monster signa...
Edit note #2: I'm sorry the post I replied to was written before the update... People used to be able to go in the battle with TP and buffs. Now it's like all other BCNMs, you have to buff once you start it. And yes I've killed the Torrent 2x but no drop yet... I'm not doing this BCNM again until I get my CHR up a bit :P

I would say that the Thunder Spirit Pact is a fairly uber drop, it goes for ~200K on Asura
20 bcnm

You get green rock, sneak, bat fang/wing, mythril beastcoin.

The bats of course link, if you don't move when you first get in they are far enough away they won't aggro.

Go in with full buffs, and have a whm, war type, and I was a thf to use sneak attack.

It's very hard, we cleared it in 6 min, best was 2, they must have had better pre-buffs then us.

Good luck, plan to use 2hrs, I'd suggest killing the Colo-colo first even though the furies are harder in the long run.

To really rock you need all the best lvl 20 gear.
