ok heres how my friends and i did it ~
20 PLD/ 10 War
20 DRG/ 10 War (me)
20 WHM/ 10 Blm

before hand we got protectra/shellra 3, haste, regen 2, mage and palladin drank pineapple juice, pld ate crab, and i ate a 'kabob. we jumped in with 100% tp each, pld grabbed a furry, and we SC'd it and almost took it out one hit. quckly destroying the first, we moved onto second. i SCd it solo twice, it went down quick. the big bat is the problem, but not so much when its alone. drain will keep it ticking untill u pull another WS to do too much damage for it to drain back. just keep healing and you're fine.

We did this 3 times, and noteworthy items were
Platoon Axe
Platoon Dagger
Platoon Sword
Lightning Spirit Pact
which is an overall toal of 300k (Shiva Server)
pretty worthwhile for an hour of fighting id say.
Worth it?

I cant find anyware on this site that gives a good explanation of how the BCNM prosses works. Ive gathered that u need orbs and seals and stuff but how exactly does it all work. If someone could explain the prosses or point to a post that does i would be extremly thankful.

YES, I've been hunting around forever just trying to find out what BCNM stands for, much less trying to figure out what it all involves.
Summoners?
# May 25 2004 at 12:10 PM Rating: Decent
I would think a party of 3 Summoners could rock this thing. Upon entrance, Cast Garuda, Astral Flow, Aerial Blast. Then let them attack while you use Hi-Ether just like the Avatar battles. I don't think the bats would be doing enough damage to knock out the avatar but it's possible. For a level 20 mob, and 450+ DMG from Aerial Blast at that level, seems like a walk in the park. I might try it this week for the Thunder Spirit with some SMN friends - I'll let you know how it goes.

Me and a 2 ls buddies fought it Mithra rng/war(me) mithra pld/war and taru whm/blm

Wasnt too hard attacked the left small bat first did our ws's on it and attacked until it was dead. Then we went for the right small one and i used my 2 hour (408 dmg woot!) and some attacks and it died. By then the whm was low so the pld used invincible while the whm rested. We never came close to dieing though so it was pretty easy.Didnt set the record.. but oh well.

Got 2 bat fangs, 1 mythril bst coin 1 translucent rock and 1 scroll of sneak. Woot. Total value about 3k.. we were less than pleased. But what can you expect from a lv 20 mob i guess. Btw earlier someone said you used sharpshot+barrage on it.. If you could teach me to use barrage at lv 20 id much appreciate it.

Simply put, you activate your barrage before entering the battlefield. Will last long enough to get a shot off.

Done this multiple times on the dragon fights for m2-3. Nothing like taking off 80% of the floating eyeballs health opening shot =D

For the books:
Leviathan Server
Brolli (myself) - 20 WHM / 10 BLM - Elvaan - 209MP
Eazy - 20 RDM / 10 THF - Elvaan - 300+ HP
Darknightmare - 20 WAR / 10 MNK - Galka - 430HP

We are all reasonably equipped and used to working together in a group. After buffing with Protectra1 / Shellra1 and Barpoisonra as well as an Apple Pie and Melon Juice for me, we headed in. Eazy and Dark had 300% TP. Dark Provoked the closest Furie and all 3 aggro'd. After 2 Moth Axe attacks, he used Iron Tempest, Eazy chained with Fire Blade AND Magic Bursted with Fire for some decent damage output. I had already cast CureII on Dark twice and had used Divine Seal awaiting to heal Dark for 180HP. Dark was getting hit with several Drains from the Furies which did about 70+ a hit... that hurt. Then one of the Furries aggro'd on me and hit me with Jet Stream for 132 damage... that hurt even more. I died not long afterward and just as I died, the first Furrie went down. Eazy and Dark lasted for another 30-45 seconds before dropping to the remaining Furie and Colo-Colo.

We had our collective behinds handed to us... we weren't really sure what to expect, but now that we've attempted it we're curious what we did wrong. Aggro control would be something off the top of my head, but any other comments would be appreciated. From what I've read here, most people are fighting this battle with the advanced melee jobs while we are just on the basics still... is that a problem as well? Any feedback would be great. Thanks!
RE: Another loss

your problem is not enough damage on your team. for bcnm30 rdm/whm, rng/nin, mnk/war has worked for me. i just think there is room for only ONE healer in the party.

based on the group you had. RDM should bind and silence one of the easy bats, then enfeeb the main bat and go in swining with a sword and ENspell against the 2nd weak bat not bound. WHM should silence the 2nd weak bat and help enfeeb the main bat. WAR should provoke main bat and tank it hard.

one other tip, use your 2hrs at beginning of fight if it makes sense. obviously not benediction, but warrior should start with mightystrikes. rdm should chainspell, but not to dump MP, but rather to be able to recast Bind and Silence and Para if they dont stick.

the chief key to winning any bcnm is crowd control. sleep and/or bind any extra mobs you can so that you are taking them one at a time.

you did good with RDM magic burst and TP ready to go.
Down and Dirty win.
# May 19 2004 at 2:17 PM Rating: Decent
My 3 person BCNM party has done this 4 times, and not a single problem. We consist of a Nin/war, Bst/whm, and Whm/Smn.

The KEY for this is the Bst. Ours didn't have great eq, but decent +cha eq.
We opted for the ninja tank because it's a little nicer on the mp of the whm. But this can be done with a PLD or Warrior.
Whm can be exchanged for a Rdm/smn with a yagudo drink. But a whm can cut it without.

How it's done:
Whm buffs (Remember Stoneskin it can save if something goes wrong)- people eat foods(Bst and I used Apple Pie)
ENTER!
Bst starts by trying to charm a Furie. Tank provokes Colo-Colo. Once a Furie is charmed set it on other furie. Then bst helps kill Colo-Colo
Might need to recharm but usually your good.

And thats it. Colo-Colo does a few ticks but nothing too bad.

Hope this helps.

Ok sorry bout that empty post(accident) but heres the deal: I jus signed off from a problem with trying this and we never got to try it bacause when the person with the orb traded it to the door and forced to lock, it wouldnt let me or the WHM inside to help him and he had to face off agains the enemies by himself. We examined to door over and over again. Needless to say he died quickly.

Anyone know what happened?? Was it screwed up? Or did we do something wrong?

We did this quest last night and sorta came out victorius minus one party member.

PT consisted of:
RNG/WAR ELV ~ (Derendael)
WHM/BLM TRU ~ (dantalus
PLD/WAR HUM ~me (sasayaki)

Before we went in the WHM lvl 39 buffed us with protectra2/Shellra/regen. I downed a roasted corn for VIT and a pinapple Juice for MP. RNG popped a mithkabob for STR, WHM popped an apple pie for MP and Pinapple juice for MP.

As soon as we walked through we went for the left furrie which then the other two bats aggroed on me. The RNG used his TP I used my TP on first bat (red lotus ) took forever to take down the first bat. WHM was slinging healing spells like there was no tomorrow.

Second bat (furrie) is where everything started to go down hill. 1/2 way through its life the bat killed the RNG in the middle of the WHM healing him with a jet stream. I was left to tank the two bats and WHM almost out of MP. I used two REd lotus blades on the furrie as Colo Colo was smackin me like a .. u know. finally I took the furrie down and proceeded to Colo Colo.

Byt this time WHM had run out of MP. He sat to rest and popped a pineapple juice. I used my 2 hr (Invincible) as he rested to give him time, but at the end of my 2hr he only gave me 2 CureII and was down again for rest. I started running like a little girl all over the arena. Colo Colo was too far away for him to hit me, so I was happy... but hit me with some poison and some drain. By this time the WHM got up to pop me with some good heals so I stood and took it for a while. Colo Colo was only 1/2 dead at this time... well we rinsed and repeated the process again till the stinkin bat was dead.

14 min it took us. ... ugg

Treasure was:
bat fang

Treasure was not so good. But it was really fun!

I completed 2 runs of this last night with 2 friends. Play it smart and this is a rather easy fight. Our party was:

Tabia (me) - Mithra WAR/MNK (Axe)
Layrinn - Elvaan DRG/MNK (Polearm)
Rora - Hume WHM/SMN (does it really matter?)

None of us had any kind of uber equipment. I used a mixture of bone and lizard gear with a Battleaxe. Layrinn had borrowed a level 16 or 18 spear. Rora wasn't wearing much in the way of MP gear at all.

We followed the 300% TP advice, and for our first run, we received Protect3/Shell3/Haste from a high level WHM from our linkshell. WHM used a Rolanberry pie, and myself and the DRG used Meat Mithkabobs.

I went it first, attacked and provoked the left group of Furies, ignoring Colo-Colo completely. Poisonga is no big deal. We used Thunder Thrust > Raging Axe as our skillchain. With 300% TP, the first group of furies took it hard. We dropped it fairly quickly, then went on to the next group of them. I was able to hold aggro without any problems, so the WHM could concentrate on keeping me alive. After the 2nd group of furies dropped, Colo-Colo was no problem.

We set the record on Bismarck (3:02) with our first run, so we decided to try it with just normal buffs on the 2nd run. It took us a little longer, and Rora ran out of MPs by the end of the fight, but we completed it with no problems.

On to BCNM 30!

I went with the other posts' tips and started out at 300% and self buffed with my main job before running in, and it worked great.
Our party was RDM/WAR (me), RNG/WAR, and WHM/BLM. I'm an RDM51, so I cast Phalanx, Stonekin, Refresh, and Protect III on myself before entering. This made a world of difference. I was taking 0 damage before my Stoneskin wore off, and 3 to 4 damage before Phalanx wore off. By then we had cleared the large bat, and started working on the smaller ones. We had begun to take a bit of damage, so I started backup healing and provoking as the WHM used Benediction. I was soon out of MP, my enhancements had worn off, but luckily my 1 MP a tick Pineapple Juice was still running. The RNG used Eagle Eye Shot and knocked out the first Furies. I scrounged up enough MP to cast Cure a few times, and when the second Furies was at half HP I pulled off Enthunder. We felled it at last, tattered and beaten, with a Flaming Arrow - Fast Blade chain, followed by a burst Stone.

We won a Thunder Spirit Pact, Platoon Pole, Black Rock, and Bat Fang.

Liavain, Feychild, you guys were great.

Edit- My equipment for the fight:
Weapon: Small Sword
Shield: Shell Shield
Ranged: Self Bow
Ammo: Iron Arrow
Head: Silver Hairpin (Switched to Lizard Helm after expending 15 MP)
Neck: Black Neckerchief
Earring 1: Onyx Earring
Earring 2: None
Body: Lizard Jerkin
Hands: Legionaire Gloves
Ring 1: Amethyst Ring
Ring 2: Eremite's Ring
Back: Rabbit Mantle
Waist: Leather Belt
Legs: Black Slacks
Feet: Light Solea

As you can see, the enhancements more than make up for mediocre equipment.

Did this today with a couple of friends. Took us 2 attempts. Our party consisted of the following:
Mirnen: PLD/WAR Hume
Ramyrez: DRG/WAR Elvaan
Shmii: WHM/BLM-BRD Tarutaru(this was me, i used BRD sub the second time)
The first time just went wrong. We hesitated, the bats sought us out and all 3 aggroed me. Mirnen voked one off of me as soon as she could, as did Ramyrez, but i was pretty beat up and soon died to the third one. With no healer the fight was over pretty fast.

The second attempt was by far one of the most exciting battles i've had thus far. We only used whatever buffs we had after the cap. Protectra, shellra, barpoisonra and Minne. Our tactic was going to be simple: Take out the left bat. Take out the right bat. Then go for Colo Colo. We went in with 300%TP so the first one went down pretty fast. Double thrust for 200+ and a nice elemental breath from Eisenzahn. Mirnen unleashed red lotus blade(forgot the damage output) and i followed it up with Seraph strike, doing 100 DMG and Fusion for another 60. I was using juices through-out the fight but MP was lowering rapidly. Ramyrez died voking a bat off me somewhere in the middle of the fight; and Mirnen and I were left standing VS Colo Colo. She used Invincible while we proceeded to bash on our foe. After Invincible wore off Mirnen took some hits occasionally interrupting Colo's drain spell with shield bash and whatnot. When she was down to 40hp I used Benediction yet she kept the aggro. At this point we were out of skills and our TP was still slowly building up, and my mp was hitting around 30 powered by my last juice. I replaced Minne with Paeon at this point and used divine seal/cure II curing for 180 spending my last MP. (the battle proceeded slow as we were hitting for 20 and 10 and Colo wasn't exactly pounding on Mirnen either. As i reached 130%TP or so i unleashed a final Seraph Strike doing 50 damage and delivering the final blow to Colo Colo.
We basked; the timelimit ended and we received 500Gil, a bat fang, the Platoon edge, the Platoon axe and a Thunder spirit pact.
We didn't set any records here on Seraph today, but we are 50k richer each and that was one hell of an awesome experience.
On a sidenote; Ramyrez was the one trading the orb and still owns it to this hour. He might have kept it because he died? Any feedback on that would be wonderful.

With regard to the Orb, I still had mine after both attempts (failed and suceeded). I had to through it away to get the second Orb though. We tried the "used" orb again, and it said "The Orb is cracked, it no longer contains a creature". I guess you can only use them once, but like the Delkfutt Key from Mission 3-3, you can keep hold of them as a memento? :)
Real close fight!
# May 09 2004 at 3:19 AM Rating: Default
since everyone's here chewing, i guess i'll throw in my 2 gils:

just completed this with the following team:
Hume RNG/NIN (Konietzko), Elvaan DRG/DRK (me), Taru-kun WHM/BLM (Jadus) all with decked out gears as close to lvl20 as we possibly could

Before we went in, we had some LS member overbuff us with ProtectII/Shellra/Barpoisonra/Baraerora (i might not spell some of these correct, but it's 4AM EST... i'm tired...)

Soon as we entered, RNG sharp shot barrage Colo-Colo, then we proceed to pound Colo into the ground full force, with WHM keeping us alive; during the battle, the bats constantly deck out aero spell and poison, before we took down Colo, it got in a chance do do Stream attack on the RNG, took him down low in yellow, me still half HP, then we took the Furies one each, just release anything we can, WS, spell, unloading arrows into them; got both down to half health, and they decided to use stream attack at the same time, took both me and RNG down low in double digits Red HP. WHM says "OMFG!" the proceed with his benediction, and we finished the fight with RNG use his 2hr, and me Double Thrust the Furies with 256% TP and my "Oboro" breath out aero breath, just what i needed to take down the Furies.

After the battle, it was me who open the chest (heard THF with TH opening the chest get better drops, but i doubt that was somewhat true) and in the end we ended up with 1 bat fang, 1 platoon edge, 1 Scroll:Deoderize, and 1 i can't remember what it is right now, the RNG lotted it and got it... sigh... and the lightning spirit pact was nowhere to be found...

BTW, we set the time record for the Cloudy Orb BCNM20 in Gheslba Outpost: 3 min 35 seconds on Fairy Server! Woot! GO PacificCadence LS!

Edited: immediately after this fight me and LS buddies try the Ghelsba Outpost Lvl 30 BCNM with this same team (RNG, DRG, WHM) and switched partner (me DRG/WAR, BLM/SMN, SAM/WAR) and we got slaughtered horribly on both tries.... we took them down pretty good though... guess it just wasn't enough...

After reading all of this, I was shocked to find that the BCNM is actually not that hard.

Admittedly, the first time we attempted this, we messed up (one of us moved in on the bats and they aggro'd, causing a member to not be able to enter) but the second time we broke them without busting a sweat.

The characters were:
Hume WHM20/BLM8, Hume MNK20/WAR10, Hume Drg20/RDM10

Uncapped levels were:
Hume WHM24/BLM8, Hume MNK25/WAR12, Hume DRG31/RDM11

Basically, we tackled it the same way we'd tackle a normal mob. WHM provided Protectra I, Shellra I and Barpoisonra before the battle. full healed, and went in. The melee characters took the two sub bats and then turned to Colo-Colo once each was killed. WHM spammed Cure II and Divine Seal, MNK used Hundred Fists (DRG obviously already called the Wyvern). Once the WHM ran out of MP, she stood by the party ready to fire Benediction, but Colo-Colo was dead way before it was needed. Wyvern fired Healing Breath II once and DRG used Cure once. After the sub-bats were killed, the MNK/WAR took up position of tank, and Colo-Colo dropped pretty quickly.

It doesn't seem to be that hard all-in-all, you just need to be prepared for the battle.

By the way, shamelessly, the names of the victorious team were:
Leens, WhiteMage
Crendal, Monk
Vahn, Dragoon

And the server was Siren.

It's pretty easy my friend, the # in BCNM# is how many orbs are required as well as what level you are deleveled to -

BCNM20 = 20 Orbs, Level 20
BCNM30 = 30 Orbs, Level 30
...

This is a BCNM20 so you would turn 20 orbs into the NPC Shami (I believe thats his name) in Port Jueno at the top of the stairs for the AH.

My BST LS has done this more times than I can remember. BSTs rock hardcore on this one. Go in with 2 BSTs and a mage, RDM or WHM doesn't really matter. Bring some juice for the mage, no other buffs are necessary.

Have both BSTs charm each Furie and have one BST use 2HR Familiar. Send both after Cola-Cola. Both BSTs jump in and hack away. The non-Familiar'd Furie will break charm maybe once before Cola dies. Re-charm it if you need to rest. Have the two Furies duke it out. Just make sure the Familiar'd Furie dies first because otherwise the time limit for the battle will end before it uncharms. Use Raging Axe on the last Furie to finish it off. There is zero risk to this, you will always win with this strategy even if you have a real hard time getting the charms to land.

If you die in them, do you still lose experience? And if so, is it equal to 10% of the experience at your current level, or 10% of the experience at the capped level?

You lose the same amount of exp to your normal level as you would dying in any way.
