If there are any bst on leviathan that are interested in fighting colo-colo and his 2 friends give either Capnjack or Destructor a tell sometime please. :) We tried for over an hour to find one to go with us with no luck. died twice with rdm/war/mnk and rdm/pal/mnk.

A guy in port Jeuno, just above the AH area. I can't remember his name exactly, but he's on the side between the sandy airship docks and kazahm airship docks. Just talk to the npc's till you find someone that mentions an orb and trade 20 seals to get the cloudy one.

This was my party setup that we tried three times:
20nin/war (tank)
20smn/rdm
20brd/whm (me)

We all had subs lvl'd all the way up and had a good amount of gear. We were sparse on the potions and foods, but it seemed to work well at least one of the times. Anyways, here's how it went:

1. Stranger group, don't ever do this. I went as blm with rng and drg that were dumb as dirt, I slept colo with elemental seal and the other 2 furies come. BUT they didn't voke them, and I ended up dying in about... oh, 15 seconds at most. I'm glad they both died too, and one delvl'd.

2. My buddies (listed above). We were decked out with good level gear, but as I said, food was sparse. I handed out kabobs for the nin and myself (though I'm not sure why I needed it as a bard...) and the smn had melon drinks too. I was the only one with potions, but didn't have a macro for it (BAD IDEA). We buff with all that we can, songs, aerial armor, protect, no shell :(
Anyways, we get started and decide to try and let the smn pull one at a time (like they should be able to). BUT, soon as smn gets in range, all bats aggro and the s*^t hits the fan. It was chaotic and both the smn and I ended up using 2 hours. The summoner manage to get off 2 blood pact 2 hours somehow and I buffed one paeon 1 and 2 for +6 regen for healing, and I started sleeping the bats like crazy.
One way or another, we took them down one by one and got the chest in the end. Wasn't very good stuff though and added up to about 36k in all.

3 & 4. We tried same set up again, without 2 hours available and lacking in TP [DO NOT EVER GO IN WITHOUT TP]. We tried having the smn pull, but every time he was in range, the bats aggro'd and we pretty much panicked like no other. Nin voked colo, I slept one fury, smn sent garuda against the other; I rebuffed nin and smn with paeon to heal them, but by the time i got both paeon's on, the fury had woken and they were already in orange hp, I was in yellow. We struggled against the bats, trying to just kill one of them and heal and what not, but we fell pretty much all at the same time (though I always died first).

Moral of the story:
1. Always, always have good gear and plenty of food.
2. Have the RIGHT food for the right job.
3. They all aggro at once if you try pulling one at a time, so give up on that idea.
4. Bring only 1 mage, and from what I've seen, bring a bst with the right gear.
5. Get buffs. Protect 1 and aerial armor are not enough, pay a whm or rdm if you have to, but get your buffs on no matter what.
6. You need a sleeper. That is unless you have a bst in the party... Get a brd or blm with elemental seal to sleep colo-colo because that flying piece of **** is a mean one.
7. You need 2 hours ready. Have at least one ready to go because you WILL need it. I've yet to read a post (that I believed) that said the guys won without using at least one of the 2 hours.

With that said, good luck to anyone attempting to par-take in this event. When you do win, winning is it's own reward and the extra gear is a bonus, trust me ;). Me and my pals are gonna try it some more later, so I should be back soon ^.^v

Yes, I'm responding to my own post, back off... anyways, things went MUCH better today, after searching and doing some indpendent thinking, we've managed to pull together 2, count em, 2 sucessful bcnm's, one of which we got the infamos, thunder spirit pact (more on that later...)

Anyways, it was like this for the first time:
23 bst/war (me: Nieryo)
40 mnk/war (Argana)
25 smn/rdm (Mooky - happiest mithra on Fairy server today)

Since I had died a lot on my bard, I figured bst was worth a shot, after all other people said it worked, why not for Nieryo? But right away, you may be thinking, "But Nieryo said to get a sleeper." Well, nuts to that! What we did was immensly simple, I'm suprised we didn't do it before.
Gear was as to be expected: Bone armor for mnk and bst (+1 harnesses for both us), mnk had +evasion, I had +8 chr overall [another +2 from food] and we were both decked out with the right stuff. Smn went with a wand, not sure why.., and regular mage gear, mostly +evasion stuff.

FOOD: BST - panama au lait, sandy tea (+2 Chr), and 3 potions (I consider potion to be food, back off)
MNK - boiled crab (tanking colo-colo), panama au lait, and 3 potions.
SMN - yagudo drink, 2 ethers, 3 potions (kinda like avatar fight)

As for buffs, we were well suited with my new bestest pal in the whole wide world, the best lvl 51 whitemage in the game Rillifane (lots of love ^.^v). We were suited with regens, haste, protect 3, shell 2, baraera, barpoisonra, and we all got tp to 300 before entering.

Strategy: Bst gets furies to fight each other. SIMPLE, ain't it? It works, and rather too well I may add... First thing we did was mnk and I ran up to the bats. I charmed one fury while she voked colo-colo and she and smn began pounding the snot out of him. Luckily, charm landed first time on fury and I 2 houred it (necesity from what I've seen and don't suggest going without it.) Then I melee with mnk on the colo-colo. Smn and mnk both pulled off their 2 hours as well (I told them to because I was scared from last time) and we slaughtered colo-colo in a few seconds; just as we finish, we see my pretty pet is still fighting, so we help finish off the other fury. Now... what? Battle not over cuz fury is alive and I don't have release yet, so what to do? I logged out. I came back as fast as possible, but by the time I had, they had killed if off and let me open the chest.

The only bad part about this strategy is that it's too safe, and you'll never go setting a record or doing it back-to-back unless you have 2 bst's and one doesn't 2 hour the first fight. This strategy saves a bunch of money though because the mnk didn't use any food but boiled crab, smn only used the drink and an ether so he could 2 hour again, and I just used me tea and panama au lait, so in all, it costs about 2k a member, including travel costs on the weekend.

Our reward: Thunder spirit pact, platoon edge, mythril beast coin, and a bat fang <-(wtf?)
We let the smn use the thunder pact because... we're idiots... I suppose, anyways, and split the money between the monk and me.

The second time we went through, we replaced Argana with another member of our LS, meowrrr, a 25whm/blm. It was a bit harder because I had to tank and we didn't get off as much damage as before; we ended up using a potion or two more, but those a cheap as dirt anyways.

Suggestions/rules:
1. Have 2 hours or have a bunch of food/potions/skills.
2. Use a bst, yes we are useful for something, no we don't kill exp while in a party (write to brady games and tell them to fix their strategy guide and apologize too :P).
3. Other combos have and can pull this off, for example when we went smn/rdm (mooky), brd/whm (me), and nin/war (aramus) we won and I'm sure there's many more possible ways to do this. I'm just telling you guys a sure-fire, safe way to do this because I love you so much ^.^v.

P.S. If you're on Fairy server and see Mooky, send him a grats and /disgusted for me, thanks!

Uh... this "quest" isnt at the burning circle... you trade the Cloudy Orb to the Hut door in the Ghelsba Outpost. The same hut as the DRG quest and the Save the Children mission (San d'Oria mission) were at.

3 for 4 so far, including the record on Asura 3:23 (at the time). Can probably do it faster too. First time was the only failure, because WHM lagged out during the fight.

MNK/WAR mithkabob +eva gear (+18 evasion), DRK/WAR mithkabob cruel scythe and damage gear, WHM/BLM with +mana gear, pie and juice. mnk and drk carry a backup hi-potion, whm carries backup ether.

Prebuffs: baraera, prot3, shell2, 300% TP each, whm also blink stoneskin reraise, mnk also uses focus just before entering.

Battle plan: drk provoke right fury, mnk provoke left fury. all players focus on colo, slice + combo + rock crusher. 100 fists finishes up the colo and gets over halfway through the first fury. drk cross-provokes the fury that isn't being targeted to keep it off the whm. After that just melee with all 3 players, kill one fury then the next. At the end of the last fury, nuke with banish with extra whm mp to speed things up.

Drops so far: translucent rock, mythril beastcoin, invisible, platoon lance, ganko, 2x platoon edges. Also, each player gets 500g for winning.

what happened to me I think is that once I used the orb and went in, I attacked too soon. Because my PT members were still outside and they got the message "Cleared to enter but not while party member is in combat." So I'm guessing I jumped the gun on this one. They're saying we all need orbs but I don't think thats the case. Info would help if possible :P

Only one person needs an Orb. Maybe your other members were too far from you and the door when you traded the orb? Maybe it was because you went in Rambo-style. Heh. I am not sure what it could be.

We went in, DRG (myself), a BST, and SMN. I got the aggro from Colo and start to whack that. The BST tried 6 times to charm one of the furies, none worked. He even tried charming the Colo, didnt work. So me and the bst smacked colo. The SMN, from the start summoned Shiva and use 2hr, did 316 dmg and then died from colo, then we died. It was a massacre. We prolly wont be trying again for a while ><

We did this today with the following party:

PLD/WAR
RNG/WAR
BRD/WHM

We got 300% TP before going in, and buffed up beforehand. BRD slept the Colo-Colo using Soul Voice and Lullaby, and the RNG took on one of the Furies with Barrage. PLD used Invincible when the first Lullaby failed (second one took), and once the first of the Furies was gone, we did a full SC on the second one. By this time, the Colo-Colo was awake and getting feisty, but it wasn't long before the second of the Furies was dead, and we could focus our full attention on the Colo-Colo. After that, it was a straight 3-on-1 battle.

We got a mythril beastcoin, a scroll of Sneak, a bat fang (whee), and a Ganko. We also set the Carbuncle server record of 3:38. Go us. Smiley: grin

I'm not sure on the duration of Barrage, but Im guessing if he did mean Barrage (and not EES), the rng used it before going in, and firing off an arrow quick enough before the timer ran out.

Me and 3 ls friends set the record on Kujata for this at 4 minutes 38 seconds; this is how. It was a BST/WAR (me, Starry), BLM/WHM (Kemikal), RNG/RDM (Aleksandr). The RNG and myself the BST built up 300%tp. Then BLM casted protectra, shell, barpoisona, and aquaveil before entering. I ate a fish mithkabob and they went in as is. The RNG shot Colo-Colo and got his attention while I set one Furie on the other. I provoked Colo and did Raging Axe, RNG followed with Flaming Arrow to create Liquefication. Then RNG used Eagle Eye Shot; Colo dead. The Furies were half dead an charm came undone. I tried recharming but failed so I took one, RNG took the other. I used Raging Axe to kill one then provoked the Furie on the RNG, BCNM done. The RDM sub gave cure help while BLM/WHM could nuke, mb, heal, depending on situation. This was our second BCNM 20 win and no Thunder Pact yet, but we were all happy to walk away with record an bragging rights. ^_^ San d'Oria Forever!!

Proving once again how tenacious and clever Taru's are, my friend and I did this by ourselves!

Me, BST/WHM ran for the bat on the right after he, SMN/WHM, summoned Garuda. I charmed the right bat, used my 2-hour (familiar) and sent it against the left. Then, Garuda and I started plugging away on Colo-Colo. My friend used Astral-Flow and Aerial Blast, which took off about 1/5 of Colo's hps. Garuda then died, and that's when it got really fun!

Mind you, I'm a taru bst, and I couldn't eat a mithkabob on account of using sandorian tea for the CHA bonus. I'm doing about 25 points of damage per hit, and it is going VERY slow because Colo-colo keeps using blood drain. Astral Flow erased the SMN's mp, but he was drinking juices and curing when he could. Finally, when it looked really bad, my pet bat killed the other one, so I turned him against Colo, and we started making progress. My pet soon died, and then it was me and my axe and the summoner and his spoon swinging away for our lives!

Anyway, the entire battle ended with both my friend and me having less than 70 hp's, zero mp, and poisoned :). But we won!

Only got a red rock, bat fang, bat wing, deoderize, and mythril beastcoin, however :(. But it was by far the most epic battle I've had since playing this game. Gonna do this thing again and again with him until we both run out of Beastman Seals!!!!!

This is easy wit the right strat. I did this 5 times today 3 times died to get it right. We had 2 Beastmasters level 19 and one level 21 drg (caps at 20). When we entered the battlefield the bats were in a V shape. To weak ones on the outside, one tough one inside. We had the Drg go get the hate, while we snuck around and charmed. Then you get the two weaker ones to fight the tough one while you heal. Once the tough one is dead, send one of the bats to kill the other (get one bst to use his 2hr) then heal again, and kill the last bat standing. Works like a charm. ^^ Got the thunder pack, genku, 2 bat fangs, Invis, Platoon Edge,Green gemstone, Deodorize. We didnt get a Gunromaru, which is a 20 Sam weapon, we got a 20 Ninja katana, Genku. * Antidote and potions reccomended *

We did this one the other day (20DRG/5WAR 22BLM/11WHM 20THF/9RDM) and we actually survived it.

Bothe mages ate apple pies.... wish we had thought to get yagudo drinks, those would've helped.... DRG ate a meatkabob.

I (BLM) used elemental seal sleep on Colo straight away then used bind on the left bat.

DRG provoked the right bat and started kicking the **** out of it. Left bat became unbound somewhere in ther so we started killing him too.

middle of that fight colo woke up so we had to deal with him also. We all used our 2hrs and managed to end the battle with half our hp left (after a divine seal curaga and benediction).

Only thing in the treasure chest was a red rock, mythril beast coin, and deodorize scroll (i was the only one who didn't have the scroll).

None of the Platoon stuff like we were hoping.... what gives? Is it really rare for the chest to contain the platoon stuff?

The key to this fight is a beastmaster. Get one, a Dragoon, and a White mage. As soon as you enter, make the dragoon obtain hate of colo-colo, and the beastmaster to turn one of the furies against the other. DON'T WORRY IF ONE OF THEM DIES, THAT'S A GOOD THING. make sure the BST uses Familiar, the two hour. trust me, the charm will last. after the charm is in effect, have the beastmaster melee alongside the dragoon on the colo-colo. killing that should be no problem with the white mage healing. easy fight. make sure the white mage is a hume, not a taru, because they need to be able to take hits.

TIP: build tp before the battle.
another TIP: have the whm make sure to cure the second Jet stream goes on the screen. that can make an easy battle go terrible.

Also as a drg going into this fight, should my dragon be out or not? I mean, is it picked on to death?

Maybe it was just me, but that was a friggin hard fight.
Just did it last night with 20WAR/10MNK, 20BLM/10WHM, 20SAM/10WAR (ME).
In preparation, we all had Cloudy Orbs, the Warrior had Steamed Crab, I had Chiefkabobs and Hi Potions, the BLM had juice and pies. All of us had 300%tp. A Whm/Brd friend of mine gave us buffs before the battle and then we started.
Round One:
-According to plan, Warrior voked the Fury on the left, I voked the Fury on right, BLM slept Colo Colo. Melee attack the Fury on the right (mine). We unleash {Hard Slash} and {Double Thrust} or {Thunder Thrust} to cause Fusion so our BLM magicbursts with fire. After this, I draw my bow to do some decent damage with my Power Bow +1. BIG MISTAKE! Do NOT do that in this fight unless you are a Ranger, which shouldn't be in this fight anyways imo. Bats attacked the crap out of me while I prepared to fire and I couldn't activate my potions in time. I drop. BLM drops shortly after. Warrior runs around screaming (he's was an RL friend and I had him on the phone, he was really screaming).
Round Two:
-Same preparation. Same battle plan minus the dying part. I voke right Fury, Warrior vokes left Fury, BLM sleeps Colo Colo. Right Fury dies from magicburst. Warrior and I attack the remaining Fury. We magicburst it again (don't know how we got tp that quick, but we did). BLM suddenly gets hit HARD and drops. The Warrior tells me on the phone to voke since he has no more Hi Potions. I voke. I run out of Hi Potions. I drop. I watch my warrior get Colo Colo down to where one more hit would kill him. Warrior drops.
We decided to call it a night at that point, since both melee were broke on gil.
I would advise bringing about 8 Hi Potions for the main tank, about 6 for the backup tank. That, or just bring a BST or SMN to twohour it.
Hope this made you night, death can be humorous sometimes...

Byt this time WHM had run out of MP. He sat to rest and popped a pineapple juice. I used my 2 hr (Invincible) as he rested to give him time, but at the end of my 2hr he only gave me 2 CureII and was down again for rest. I started running like a little girl all over the arena. Colo Colo was too far away for him to hit me, so I was happy... but hit me with some poison and some drain. By this time the WHM got up to pop me with some good heals so I stood and took it for a while. Colo Colo was only 1/2 dead at this time... well we rinsed and repeated the process again till the stinkin bat was dead.
OMG Megamidawl that was so funny! You made my night. Um sorry i haven't tried this yet. but who do you talk to to get the orb? and how many seals did you guys use?

2 friends and I just recently completed and won this BCNM, and we also set the record for it. Prior to this we tried with many different people and combinations and nothing seemed to work. We completed it as follows:

20 BST / NIN
35 DRG / WAR (capped)
35 WHM / 8 SMN (also capped, this was me)
Note: I subbed SMN because at lvl 20 whm, the benefits of a lvl 8 smn subjob for a mithra were considerably more than that of a lvl 10 blm, especially considering I wouldn't touch anything but cures.

I will give you the rundown of our third and most successfull battle:

First of all, for armor I wore my lvl 1 RSE body piece and linen slops, white mitts, and fisherman's boots. The drg wore lizard gear, as did the BST. The BST drank tea and had a Noble's Ribbon, but not a monster signa. Before the battle, the DRG and BST went out and got about 200% TP off of surrounding orcs. After this, I used Protectra II and Shellra on them, as well as Stoneskin on myself. I used a Melon Pie and a Yagudo Drink at this time. DRG used a Mithkabob. I also cast regen on the drg and bst and the MP was quickly refreshed because of the drink. Once it was, we entered the battlefield.

First, the BST immediately charmed one of the Furies (the small bats) and followed that charm with his 2-hour ability (familiar). He set those bats against the other Furies and then he engaged in battle with the DRG. Every so often I would get hate from my curing and one of the bats would score critial hits on me, but because of stoneskin, they hit for 0 damage. ALWAYS USE STONESKIN. Anyway, the BST and DRG defeated the Colo-Colo easily, and we all rested while the two sets of furies pounded away at each other. Eventually the uncharmed Furies were defeated, and when this was the case, our BST actually temp logged to get rid of the charm. The drg finished off the Furies and reinvited the BST. We opened up the chest and got a Platoon Lance (worth 50k in Asura's Jeuno AH) as well as some other things. We also shattered Asura's record for the BCNM which is kinda funny considering the resting time we took waiting for the Furies to kill the Furies.

The first time we won, we got the Thunder Spirit Pact, worth 150k on Asura, as well as a spiffy Katana. The next two times we got the platoon lance.

For the record, we all decided on one person to take and sell the stuff (although the DRG wanted the lance and I wanted the Pact *drool*) and split the earnings between us.

Never ever do BCNM with someone you don't know. I trust these people! ^^

Hope this helps the people out there that need some help with it ^^

Did it again shortly after i last posted, but instead of a pld/war we had to use a war/pld. battles still went the same, easy 3 wins, but we got crap all 3 times except for another lightning spirit pact, which brought our grandtotal gil for the night to 520k which is 173k per member. Again, not bad. as long as u have a good hate keeper (pld works best) a damage dealer (beast is only good here w/ 2 hr - not recommended for this fight anyway) - Drg works wonders and is more overall damage than others, except for rng, and a good healer. normal 20/10 whm/blm did fine job, and even ran out of mp by the time we killed the furries. we took down colo-colo easily still.

that setup and strategy will definitely work

have the bst drink some tea beforebattle either chamomile or sandorian tea both +2chr it seems to help alot.

and the smn 2 hour smacks it.. had a smn one of the fights and he used astral flow and smashed the big bat to half its life.

so yeah im pretty sure you can take them.

here is a few more attempts i did last night:
bst/bst/smn
bst tame small bat and used 2 hour and sent it vs other small bat and rhe summoner used his 2 hour vs the big bat. then we teamed up on the big one to finish it off and killed the remaining small after. we ran into trouble on this and our bst died shiva tanked at the end to save other bst with 42 health. The problem we ran into was having no cure II and not preparing for this we didn't bring any health potions.

bst/drg/whm
this setup rocked. again we used same strategy > bst charm one and use 2 hour then send it vs the other small one. the dragoon/warrior and his wyvern worked very well as a balance of tank and damage to make it easy teamed up with the bst to take down the big one before the 2 smalls finished.
having cure ii from the whitemage made this a cakewalk and i found this setup to be the most successful.

my conclusion:
i did it about 12 times so far and i think the best setup is one beastmaster with his 2 hour available. 1 player who can tank and do damage like a monk or dragoon with war sub and good armor. and one player with cure ii either whitemage or redmage.

i wonder if i can solo this with summoner

or perhaphs at least 2 tanks or 1 tanks and 1 healer to last just enough for me to use my 2hr

since my summoner did 400 dmg on a banshee with one blow (i can do this up to 3 times with the right items) at lvl 20, i'm pretty sure it shouldn't be impossible using diamond dust

I seriously doubt that because I don't think any avatar could last for 3 minutes against 3 mobs. So the only real problem is that you're going to have to recast, but there's no place to run to and have enough time to cast an avatar. So, nope... you couldn't solo this.

Tried this a while ago with some LS friends. Party was (me) 20RDM/10BLM, Tarah 20WAR/10MNK, and Kindress 20WHM/10BLM. We had no idea what to expect so we didn't buff or take down any consumables before the battle. We went in and immidiately went for the Furrie on the left. Got that down to about 1/4 health when I thought that the rest of the battle would go smoothly, and I broke away from that Furrie and moved to the second. Leaving the WAR alone with one, and me alone with the other. With no one holding hate on Cola-Cola, it headed to the WHM. Battle didn't last long afterwards.

I hope to try this again with some of LS friends. I'm thinking a party of DRG/WAR, BST/WAR, and SMN/WHM. Have the BST charm one Furrie and turn it on the second. Have the SMN use Garuda's Astral Flow and pop a Hi-Ether afterwards, and move into cure-tank.

Think this will work?

This is so easy with 2 beasts its not even funny.

first setup was 2bsts and 1rdm whichever bst landed chatm first out of the 2 used 2hour to make it stay charmed and then we let the 2 small bats fight and then teamed up vs the big one... we killed the big one then waited for the 2 small bats to finish the battle when they di we killed the remaining one.

did a similar technique with the second battle replacing 1 bst with a nin and the bst used 2 hour and we used same strategy.. was hilarious cuz the bst had to logout just to make the bat uncharm before the limit would run out and we won.

third time no bst had 2 hour and we got owned.. bottom line is bst needs his 2 hour to keep the bat charmed a long time so no worries.

we got the worst drops ever on both wins... horrible drops..lmao. but was fun nonethelss.

just wish we got better stuff.
