2 BSTs?
# Jan 07 2005 at 12:58 PM Rating: Decent
My friend and I are planning to do this when we both hit 20 were both BSTs and we dont plaan on finding a third member (but we will if we have to) this is what we were planning...

go in with as much CHR as possible one BST charms fury 2hrs it and sends it after colo-colo other BST charms w/o 2hr and sends it after colo after colo-colo is done let non 2hr bat go un charmed and send 2 hr after it and use heel to let 2hr die then finally kill the uncharmed fury

so whatcha think? neither of us have signas but we could prolly find some buddies to lend um to us

thx

The time limit will probably expire before your 2houred Fury comes un-charmed. From what I've read(haven't had a chance to do it yet only BST 10 ;-;) It works to let Colo kill the 2hr'd fury or just not 2hr at all.

I've been wanting to do this BCNM ever since my BST hit 20, and I finally tried it last night. Our party was BST/WAR(me), DRG/THF, and WHM/BLM. I used Tuna Sushi (+5 CHR, +3 DEX), the DRG used meat mithkabob, and the WHM used rolanberry pies and melon juice, and a couple of hi-ethers. I don't have a signa, so I had a total of +15 CHR with food. I did fail a lot, but our whm was on top of things with cures and is a galka so he could take an extra hit or two.

Here's how we did it. When we entered the BC our WHM buffed us, then popped a juice and healed. When his MP was full the DRG and his wyvern would attack colo-colo while I tried to charm one set of furies. Once I charmed the furies and sent them against the other set, I'd join the DRG against colo-colo until charm broke. When colo-colo dropped we all rested while my furies took on the other ones. When charm broke I engaged my former pet, who had the lower HP remaining and the drg and his wyvern took the other. We tore through this 3 times, the longest it took us was just under 8 minutes. I got lucky once and hit my first 2 charms, never broke a sweat on that one.

A couple of pointers:

-I think WAR is the best sub for the BST in this. I was able to save our WHM some damage with provoke on 1 or 2 occasions.

-Tuna Sushi is probably the best food for BST for this, although it is pricy (18k a stack on my server). Not only does it give an extra point of CHR compared to caviar, but the +3 DEX let me hit a lot more. I ended 2 of the 3 runs with a 200+ TP Raging Axe from the TP I was able to build, despite healing for HP mid fight.

-I'm sure other DD's would work fine, but I was really impressed with the DRG and his wyvern being able to tear through colo colo so easily.

We got mediocre drops: blue rock, mithril beastcoin, platoon edge, Ganko, and a Thunder Spirit pact (which our WHM had been looking for). I didn't see it, but the other guys said that Astral Rings now drop from this BCNM and they had gotten 6 or 7 from previous runs. Can anyone else confirm this? I will post confirmation here if I find one.

Attempted this for the first time last night. It did not go well at all. I (WHM) died quite fast.

WAR/NIN(o.O)
BST/WAR
WHM/BLM (me)

It was my first time attempting this, and the WAR as well. BST had leveled BST for the sole purpose of this BCNM, and so he had done it about 15 times.

BST had Hope Ring (+2 CHR) and Bird Whistle, giving +7 CHR. Did not eat caviar, went for Fish Food instead, as the WAR did as well. i ate a Apple pie. Buffed up (Protect/Shell) and rested. As soon as full, WAR proceeded to Provoke Colo, as BST ran to Charm one Fury. I obviously started healing everyone with Cure I.

BST Charm did not work right away.. i know this was expected. It did not work the second time either. Nor the third time. I kept curing everyone (Tank did not take much damage). BST was falling pretty much in the red, when i Cure II'd him. It was hard in my case to heal anyone, since i was getting hate from the bats (not Colo, who was controlled, but one Fury was hitting me).

Hate got off me, and i started Curing BST again (low orange now), so hate immediately came back. i fell down, right after the BST had succeeded in charming one Fury, just after popping my Yagudo drink. The rest is known history : with no white mage, there was no chance of winning this BCNM.

Then I got told then that since we were in that situation, i should have used Benediction to heal everyone. Now i don't think so, since it would have given me maybe 10 more seconds before falling down (Colo would have loved me on that one i suppose >.>) When i confronted the BST about me dying 10 seconds later if i used it, he came up with something like "WAR could have used his 2 hour then, to get hate off you".. could that have worked? MS to get rid of hate from three mobs, seems like wishfull thinking to me..

Anyway, i am interested in some advice for the healing part of this BCNM. What should i have done differently ? Should i have waited for the BST to sucessfully Charm one bat before healing him?

What to do healing wise when the Charm doesn't work right away ?

thx--

Did this twice tonight. With 2 monks and a Red mage.
Was relatively easy. Monks threw their two hours and attack the Furies and I kept them alive. Then all 3 attack clo.
1st time we got an astral ring and thunder pact as drop!!! 700k on our server! so we waited 2 hour and did it again. only got some random junk. Oh well we each made a ton of cash so we were happy.
oh yeah our times were 4 min 56 sec and 5 min 17 sec
2hred it

I tryed this last night we had no bst so the three of us one whm/blm one mnk and a drg/war <me> we went in thier got our buffs on and went head long in towards the arena killing the colo-colo bat first took some time mnk used its 2hr on it the first sec. we made it through the colo-colo and most of the first furies health when whm used its 2hr then joined us fighting with his club. Whm died soon after that because of the mage low health factor anyways we killed the first furie and went on to the next we got about 2 hits away before it used its jet stream attack and killed me and then went for the mnk who at 30 hp didnt last long

MY thing is if your gonna do this BCNM get a bst it will make all the diff in the world either that or get a nin to 2hr close to the end and see if thatg works but try a bst first its the best bet.

I did this one about a week ago with LS members, i think it was all of our first BCNM. We had Hume RNG/WAR, Hume BLM/WHM, and (me) Taru WHM/BLM. I think we got Colo down to half the hp, and the furries lived with full hp. I think our mistake was the blm slept colo and the rng used his 2h on it :P /clap lol. We had crap gear on too, the rng spent 40k on gear he couldnt use, by mistake, and had to compensate. I had crap gear too (A Doublet! w00t!) But I had the best gear lol, the BLM wore nothing, he let the rng borrow his gear, because rng would be holding the hate... Enough Said we got whooped and thrown out of the Battlefield like a bunch of wusses. :P

Tried this 5 times last night with 2 friends.
The first 2 times, we went in as:

BST/WHM (me)
THF/NIN
BLM/WHM

Our original plan was for BLM to sleep one bat, I charm the other, we fight the NM bat, kill it, then kill of the other 2. The problem is, it took Charm a couple times to land each try (even with a Signa and +18 CHR) and on the chance that Sleep didn't land, the bats tore the **** out of the BLM. Also, we had no tank to really take hits and hold hate, so everything was haywire. 0/2, we got raped both times.

Went back for the next 3 tries as BST/WHM, BLM/WHM, and PLD/WAR. This worked a lot better since we had a tank. The first try BLM's sleep didn't land, my Charm took 4 tries to land, and we couldn't kill the NM bat in time. The 2nd try, everything worked out, and I 2hr'd the bats. We killed off the NM, but BLM got hate and died. We let the bats duke it out, then while taking out the last bat PLD's 2hr didn't go off in time, and I barely finished it off with 30 hp or something.

Drops totaled about 9k, they were crappy.

Last time, same thing, everything worked fine but got a little messy at the end when my bats uncharmed for the 4th time and I couldn't get em again before they Jet Streamed me and killed me. PLD and BLM used their 2hrs, and PLD just died before the end, BLM finished the last one off solo.

Drops totaled about 38k, thanks to a rare-ish lvl 20 katana.

So the drops weren't good, but it was really challenging, and required a lot of teamwork. It took a while but we got the hang of it by the end. This was by far the hardest thing I've encountered in the game to date, way tougher than the BCNM 40. I'll never do this again since the seals aren't worth the trouble, but the 3 of us really had a blast.

I have tried this like 4-5 times in the last 2 days and failed horribly..... The first 3 times was with a Whm/Blm, a Bst/Whm, and me a War/Drg and we died all three times trying different strategies each time... Today I tried again with the same Bst and my Pld friend and still failed.... I think it was because the Bst couldn't get charm fast enuf.. If you have any suggestions any would be appreciated.

ok, i failed, but only because of one error. we didnt die.

What to do in this party setup:

PLD/WAR - your tank. you need him/her to voke the furies.
food: ... you should know. im not an expert with the foods. eat whatever tho, nothing that reduces vit.. or the furies will eat you.

RDM/ mage sub - your healer. you are needed for taking your sword out, having a drink, and healing the pld
Food: MP Regen drink is all really.

BST/ job - i was told to use my DRK for sub, which may have been a fatal error. but i suggest a CHR job, red mage is useful. bards.. ok. a paeon would be nice. thats it. but you cant attract attention to yourself. RDM gets more CHR then a DRK (i think you get 2 more with rdm)
Food: Caviar

what to do:

you might be able to get by without using RDM Chainspell and rarely, PLD Invincible.

but i dont think its possible without Familiar. so you have a 2 hour waiting period between bcnm's unless u alternate.. lol

First things first:

BST charms a fury, and familiarizes it. if you fail keep it busy. Set it on colo-colo to keep it busy.

PLD/WAR vokes the other furies, red mage heals the pld. everyone wails on the 2 furies.

the two furies should be dead now, if you died, you needed invincible, or a red mage with more mp.

bst/drk with a platoon zaghnal can average 60 damage on the furies (as a tarutaru) with some fair accuracy.

anyways, they are dead. now what you do: let colo-colo kill the bsts fury!
if you dont, you just failed. do not voke colo-colo until the pet furies dead, if the fury is winning. well you got to 20, you should know how to heel.

get yourself braced for colo-colo (not that difficult) and continue as you did with the other furies,

you win

If your familiar is the last one standing you don't lose. Didn't you read the thread below? Just have the Bst log out and come back....simple. He will still have the lvl restrict and be in the fight since only ppl in the fight are allowed in the battlefield, which is where he's gonna be when he logs back in. just be sure to wait for him before killing the last Furie...don't know what would happen if he logged back in after the battle was over.^^

We just did this fight. Our setup was SMN/WHM, RNG/WAR, BST/WHM.

Basically out strat was I use astral flow with 2 ethers and yagudo drink and the bst does his thing.

I was able to AoE nuke them three times, dealing about 600 damage to each. ^^;

# Oct 27 2004 at 11:33 PM Rating: Decent
Im trying to do this on a shoestring budget (no yagudo drinks, big time foods, etc.) and without 2hrs. Had war/sam, bst/whm, whm/smn. You have to keep the BST alive, otherwise everyone else is dead.

Basically if BST fails the first two charms, you will all be at low HP. And most likely when that bat uncharms you will be in trouble. I think if you fail twice and charm on the third the best bet for survival is to use 2hr familiar so you dont have to worry about them coming back at you. BTW the charm wears off after about 3-4 scythe hits (480 delay). I cannot figure out how to charm while still in battle with another monster.

"I cannot figure out how to charm while still in battle with another monster."

Either have a macro set up like "/ja "Charm" <st>", or select charm from the job ability list then when u select charm u will have the option of selecting another target.

Ok, me and a friend of mine are 11/11 with Colo and we've been doing it with only 2. I use a Bst/War, and she uses a Rdm/Whm, both Elvaan. The first time we did it we set the record at 7 mins 58 secs. We've broken the record we set a few more times since then and it is now at 5 mins 30 secs.

Items used:
Bst: 3 Hi-Potions, 1 Fish Mithkabob (or Boiled Crab), 1 Pamama Au Lait or Persikos Au Lait.

Rdm: 3 Hi-Potions, 2 Yagudo drink, 1 Pumpkin or Rolonberry Pie.

Most of the time we don't use the Hi-Potions, but the difficulty of the battles varies, and there were a couple times I used all 3. Sometimes it takes a few tries to charm one of the Furies, and that can wear you down fast as well.

Strategy:
Make sure the Bst has at least +8 Chr and around 100 Def with no buff. Enter the battlefield and use the Fish Mithkabob/Boiled Crab. Wait for Rdm to buff and use Pie and Yagudo Drink. Wait for Rdm to heal to full MP then as soon as Rdm full, run and try to charm one of the Furies. If you fail, then try again. If you fail again the try the other Furie (It seems that when I fail twice on one Furie, the other Furie charms the first try). After you sucessfully charm one of the Furies, have it attack the other Furie. Now attack Colo and use Provoke on him. After you get Colo on you and are attacking, use 2-hr "Familiar". Rdm should cast Dia on the un-charmed Furie and Colo, then proceed helping you attack Colo while curing when needed. Colo will usually be at around 1/4 health when one of the Furies finally dies. If it was your familiar that died, try charming the other Furie while still attacking Colo. When you get it charmed have it help you attack. Colo will probably die before the charm wears off, then finish off the Furie. If your familiar is the Furie that survived, have him attack Colo and you and rdm need to stop everything. Your familiar needs to get hate from Colo so it can die. If your familiar is the last mob standing, you will lose because the charm will not wear off until way past the 15 minute time limit;).

This strategy has worked for me 11 out of 11 times. I only tried it becuase we got tired of waiting for a LS member who was gonna be a 3rd member. Now when he does show up again he's SOL =P.

Drops to date: 4 Thunder Spirit Pact, 1 Platoon Lance, 3 Gunromaru, 3 Ganko, 2 Platoon Sword, 1 Platoon Dagger, and quite a few lesser value items...misc rocks, scrolls, and such.

I'm glad to say that we are the current record holders on Diabolos with 5 mins 30 secs, and we did it with 2 instead of 3 ppl:) I've farmed this BCNM enough so now i'll share my tactics, good luck to you. If anything seems unclear post a reply and I'll try to answer any question.

Update:
In my 10th battle, I accidently let Colo die and I still had my familiar, the one I used 2-hr on, so I was basically screwed since the charm wouldn't wear off until the time limit was up...but I had a thought. I thought, "What if I log out and back in?"...It worked. When I logged out the bat was no longer charmed and proceeded to slap my Rdm around while I was gone, when I got back I simply joined back up with her and killed the Furie...got the Armor Box again:)
RE: Bst makes simple
# Oct 26 2004 at 3:12 PM Rating: Decent
so myself as lvl 20bst/10rdm can go in with Flint Caviar (+4 CHR food, added to my base +7) and charm a Furie to attack another Furie while the tank begins the Colo-colo. Once a Furie is fighting another Furie, I join in the fight by debuffing the Colo-Colo with bio, paralyze and blind, then engage. The tank and I go at the Colo-Colo while the Furies keep themselves entertained. Also, third player would be healer. I was thinking 1 pamama milk for each person, a couple yag drinks for the healer and one for myself. The tank can use the fish mithkabob or boiled crab. Healer, of course will be given a Rolanberry pie.

Would I even need hi-potions in a scenario like this?

RE: Bst makes simple

well, if colo isn't very melee, then you're right... bio would not work well. However, as far as casting the spells... if you cast dia then bio, bio replaces dia... if you cast bio and dia, I believe dia has no effect.

Thanks for the advice, giving this a go next weekend (last weekend in October 2004). I'll post my results once I've finished the battle(s).

You probably would not need potions in that scenario, but I would bring one or two just in case. When you start trying to charm you are gonna get the hate off all 3 until the tank vokes Colo, but you will still have 2 Furies on you as well as AoE attacks until you successfully charm a Furie and get it attacking the other long enough to get hate...and this can sometimes take a few tries even with +8 Chr. Plus, since you would be using a Flint Caviar, your defense is not going to be as high and you are going take more damage for the hits that you do take, as well as more hits. I always bring back-up to prepare for the worst in any battle, It's better to be safe than sorry^^.

I would also use Dia either right after, or instead of Bio. Colo does a lot of non-melee damage and Bio doesn't reduce damage a great deal anyway...Plus, you want to make every attack count to take him down ASAP. As you probably already know, if you cast Dia, then Bio, the Bio cancels the Dia effect. However, if you cast Bio, then Dia, you get the effect of both since Dia doesn't cancel Bio...or so I've been told.

You may disregard anything you feel to be inaccurate, I am merely providing my opinion based on what I know and on what you posted.

Good Luck with Colo^^

Setup:
20RNG/10WAR
20BST/10WHM
20WHM/10BLM

BST took a Fury and made it fight other while we all ganged up on Colo. I (RNG) used 2hr and that took about half its life out of it, and we just beat on it for the rest. Worked pretty effectively, we broke the Fairy server record. I can't remember what our time was, but the drops were all worthless.

We broke the record on Titan. 4 minutes, 30 seconds. I suppose it's not that big of a deal, as seriously, who ever does this consistantly? It was our first time.

Setup was BST/WHM, RDM/WHM, MNK/WAR (me). BST and I the MNK ate mithkabobs, RDM didn't eat/drink anything. No buffs necessary. Same old, same old: BST charms one Furry, pits it against the other; I voked Colo-Colo, Hundred Fist; RDM spammed Cure II on me like crazy. Colo goes down, we all rest and wait for one Furry to die, then gang up on it. Easy peasy.

Drops stunk, of course. Best thing we got was Gunomaru. We gave the Invis. Scroll to the RDM.

This is not at the burning circle. This is at the hut in Gheshelba Outpost. I believe it is F-9 (or really close to there). Click on the door to the hut.

The burning circle(for other BCNM battles) is past gheselba outpost, through fort geselba, and finally yughot grotto.

2 of my friends and I did this with ease.

Serix Whm/Blm (Apple Pie, 2 Yagado Drinks)
Asona Rng/War (meat mithkabob, 2 Hi-potions)
Necra Drg/War (Fish mithkabob, 2 Hi-potions)
All three drop dead sexy Mithras.

We went in buffed then we let the mage rest full mp. Started the fight with a Eagle Eye Shot on one of the furies this dropped it about half Hp. We then hacked down the half dead Furie fairly quickly. Then moved to the next Furie as a team, and dropped it. After the furies are down Cola was a breeze with a Drg to Rng skillchain that did insane damage. First time Platoon Knife dropped, 15k not bad. Second time same plan no problem, Platoon Lance!! It would have been nice to get the scroll but the lance was all I was after. All in all this was a fairly easy BCNM for us I hope you have the same luck.

Never done a BCNM before, but friend is leaving the game, so we diceded to spend up his seals. What chance does this party have?

Galka 20 War/ 10 Mnk
Hume 20 Blm/ 10 Rdm
Hume 20 Whm/ 10 Rdm

The plan is to go in, eat food, then hit Mighty Strikes and nuke one of the bats ASAP.

Mages will use juice and ethers as needed, War will use +VIT or +STR food, not sure which (probably +VIT to tanks, but it seems that the +STR might help to initially off a bat). BlM will eat a pie as well.

HOpefully, with one bat down, we can drag down teh other bat and finally colo in a steady fashion.

Does Elemental Seal/Sleep have any chance?
