I did over the weekend with some LS mates... setup was as follows:

RNG/THF (Me yes I need to lvl War...)
BST/WHM
WHM/BLM

We had a great time.. went 22/24 ... we lost the first time (wasn't sure how to approach it) and one randmon time in between were I couldn't hit anything and the BST couldn't charm anything.

As for drops.. well we got enough platoon equip to start our own small army.. and it will take some time to get that stuff sold. As for the big items .. we got 4 Astral rings and 5 Thunder pacts. So all in all .. was great money.

Other info that might be of interest. If you do this... make sure when you go in.. you don't move till ready.. we learned that on the first one... you don't have to move up much at all and they aggro you.. so make sure you are ready before moving.

As for the fight.. Colo-Colo loves to spam poinson ga (say 2-4 times per fight).. so the RNG should try to stay away from the others... and all three really love to use Drain... I bet between the three bats... they used it ... 8-10 times per battle.. we all used drinks.. WHM pineapple juice and the RNG and BST used pear au-lait .. those helped a ton.

With this setup it was pretty easy.. BST would move left.. RNG would move right... BST would charm a Furies and RNG would engage Colo-Colo .. RNG would solo that one .. while the BST keep the Furies busy... WHM kept us both alive.

We saw several go in with other setups.. and they were promply destroyed. I would suggest you have a BST,RNG,WHM for this.. otherwise I think it would be quite hard. I mean you would be able to do it with other setups.. but.. it would be hard.

Oh.. as a final note.. the BST we had was lvl 75 (of course was capped upon goin in) but she had the best of the best equip .. was +18 CHR before flint cavair ... needless to say.. we did have times when she needed to run about the area as she would fail charm. So make sure you BST is using caviar and has the best equip they can afford.. or you may have problems.

eh, i did this over the weekend... ive done it quite a few times but heard it dropped astral now and say hey lets go do it! setup was RDM, BST, BST and ever single fight we did it we wrecked them. its extremely easy with 2 BST... the plan was: go in, cast protect and shell on all, rest to full; then 2 BSTs run up and grab the furries, have them attack Colo, sit back and rest to full until they had some hate, then engage ourselves(yes i was meleeing with my small sword); Colo-Colo dies and furries are still charmed, rest till one is uncharmed and have the other attack it(so a Furries vs Furries) the winner is killed if it was the uncharmed and the other is killed when it uncharms if it wins. our strategy took us about 5-7 minutes, but none the less there was 0% chance we would lose. we choose to do orb master(each person gets to QM their orbs drops). i was forced to go first, i got thunder spirit(200k), a coin and that crappy katana... the next 2 got about 20k each from their crappy katans which i suppose are a common drop(hahaha), well my friend RDM came over with her orb and she replaced me for a fight and they beat it just as well, but she didnt get anything good either :( so all in all on drops we were 0/4 astrals 1/4 thunder pacts and 3/4 on crappy katanas... good luck with this BCNM! execute it right and its a cake walk...

Reiterating information for the most part here...

We did this the first time tonight BST,BST,WHM

#1 I subbed /WAR on BST and experienced one less CHR point. This was our first run and it was actually not too bad. We did end up losing though. The WHM was new to the game and didn't understand how to cure without pulling hate. We ended up getting the last Furries to about 1% health when the last BST went down.

#2 I switched back to /WHM. Run was flawless Astral Ring ^^

#3 We failed 12 charm attempts. I was really confused by this. We didn't eat any caviar the second or third runs. I would definitely suggest that with this setup. I was pretty shocked that we failed EVERY attempt though.

Overall it was a good time. I definitely suggest trying this if you have 20 seals laying around. 300 exp loss if you fail and 20 seal loss isn't a huge deal considering the rewards you can get.

Well I tried this last night with my boyfriend and a friend of ours. It wasn't the ideal party setup (no whm proper) but we figured it was worth a shot. We were PLD/WAR BLM/WHM and BST/WHM (me).
I'm not sure what all the other bsts are doing, but my charm lasted all of about 3 hits on the other fury. I had all the recommended gear short of a monster signa (2 hope rings, bird whistle, nobles ribbon, flint caviar...there was no tuna sushi for sale). My CHR ended up being +14. I'm a taru.
We went in and buffed up. Apparently my boyfriend wasn't too clear on the idea that he was our sole healer. He cast Elemental Seal > Sleep on the Colo and I charmed one fury on the other. Our initial plan was to have the pld hit the fury along side my pet, but we lost communication somewhere in the middle and they just ended up running around while I tried to move from the bats AOE.
Not two seconds later my bat uncharms. I failed 4 times in a row trying to recharm the damn thing! Colo woke up, PLD went to work on him. Meanwhile multiple drain spam brought my HP and the BLMs HP down to the red. I'm screaming across the room for him to cure me, but I got nothing.
Finally got charm to stick when I had about 16hp left. Tried to rush to Familiarize, but I died before I could.

Moral of the story: No matter how confident you are in your charming ability, USE YOUR 2 HOUR. It would have been worth the downtime for us.

Moral #2: Bring hi-potions just in case something goes horribly wrong with your healing plan.

Update: Works perfectly when BST uses Familiar. Granted you can only do it once every 2 hours, but we beat the record four times. It's currently at 3min 38 seconds on Bismarck.

http://www.mesmerized.org/jaded/astral.gif

We got 3 Platoon Daggers (30k), a Ganko (16k), a Platoon Lance (120k), and...yes...2 astral rings (500k).

I'm thinking about getting together some friends and doing this, so I'm wondering if the configuration listed below would work:

NIN/WAR
BST/WHM
SMN/WHM

The strategy I am considering is:

At the start of battle, SMN uses Shiva and attacks Colo-Colo to keep it busy. BST charms one of the furies, sends it against Colo-Colo. SMN sends Shiva to attack the other fury. NIN tanks the other one of the furies.

Kill the fury as fast as possible, and then wait for Colo-Colo to finish of the charmed fury.

Simply from then on tank it like it were a regular monster. SMN can put pet away at this point and heal.

Would that setup/strategy work? Also, a note on 2hrs: would it be possible to do this without using Familiar?

I've done BCNM40 Steamed Sprouts a large number of time, so I came into this fight well prepared. Maybe a lil too prepared.

PLD/WAR, BST/WAR, RDM/WHM was our PT config and when the fight was over we were all nearly full (only the PLD used a Hi-Potion and I don't know why...). The drops we got weren't very good tho, so I'm under by about 100k or more for this 1 run. We will try again 3 times, but if the Astral Ring doesn't drop in that time it will have been useless.

war/mnk (galka) me
bst/whm (tarutaru)
bst/whm (tarutaru)

Tank hits colo-colo do not voke.
bst folks run around with there respective furies attempting to charm them. One uses 2hour other doesn't. Once the one is two houred it goes after colo-colo. Once the fury has Colo-colo's attention (very easy for it to do since the tank didn't voke) tank stops hitting colo-colo move away so you don't get caught in AOE. The non two hour fury gets kept away from the fight entirely. When the two houred fury starts to get low that's when you move in and start beating on colo-colo once colo-colo drops the two houred fury goes after the other one. Two hour fury will die shortly there after everyone beats the remaining fury down.

Things to remember for this. Sometimes the charms don't stick (neither tarutaru bst had signa as the -5 to vit is pretty significant) so use your provoke on the beast that's getting jacked. The two hour fury must die! You don't want to be fighting two bats at once. Bring food (tank food of choice and bst food of choice) and medicine (hi-potion). Oh selbina milk is kinda handy to have running too.

5-5 on this using this method with no deaths.

Two thunder spirit pacts and far, far to many platoon poles and daggers >.<

just did this w/ 2 ls mates.
record on fenrir is 4:53, we had it in 5:05

no astral drop, but we got
Bat Fang
Platoon Dagger
Thunder Spirit Pact
Yellow Rock

bloody simple bcnm.
mithra BST/WHM
elvaan WHM/SMN (me)
elvaan WAR/NIN
i used a pumpkin pie for the extra mp, and a pineapple juice. bst used flint caviar (chr+4). no food needed for the war. we went in, i buffed w/ pro/shell, bst charms one fury and 2hrs, sets it on the second fury. war goes in and vokes Colo-Colo, bst assists on attacking. I sit back at first, throwing out cures and then poisona when colo-colo uses poisonga, eventually just jump right in and melee (got another level on staff skill ^^) 'cause it's going so well. we finish off Colo-Colo easily, didn't have to cure too much. we don't engage the second furies until the charmed ones die, by then they were at about 10% health. we pound on 'em for a few hits, done.

soooooo simple...now we just gotta do it 18s faster >:D

Just did this bcnm with MNK(me) DRG and WHM.

i ate a sole sushi and the drg ate a mithkabob, whm didnt eat anything or drink anything. We went in, whm did protectra and shellra, then healed to full mp. Then i voked colo colo and hundred fists him to death with the drg, then we each took a furies each once colo went down. The whm managed to keep up with cure IIs on me as i tanked all 3 bats. I used a Hi-potion and a couple of potions during the fight when my hp was low.

we completed it in 5 mins 38 seconds, which was a new record, though i doubt there was anything to beat anyway XD.

I think we couldve done it quicker if drg ate sushi too, as he was missing a LOT.

The drops kinda sucked :( no astral :(

we got:
Gunromaru
Platoon Dagger
Deodorize
Bat fang :D

Well me and 2 LS buddies did this three times.

War/Thf (meat mith..)
Smn/Whm (P-juice)
Whm/Smn (P-juice)

I ran in voked Colo-Colo and started whacking one of the Furies. Smn called Ramuth and 2hr'd. He then attacked the thrid Fury. Whm cured as needed but other wise stayed back. After Ramuth went down I 2hr'd on Colo-Colo and kept voking away. By this time one of the Furies was dead and the other was about half. As soon as he can the Smn called Ramuth back up to 2hr again (last like one min for Smn) This will kill the other Fury and hurt Colo-Colo pretty bad. If I haven't killed Colo-Colo by now the Whm will have to use Benediction cause she is out of MP. If you have been voking often and connecting you should hold hate or get it back fast. Whack away until Colo-Colo goes down.

We went 2-3 and the one we lost the Smn 2hr missed! >< Other than that we did well.

Recieved a few misc crystals, some rocks, Platoon Sword, Platoon Dagger, and a Thunder Spirt Pact (150K on Slyph). We were going for the Astral Rings and the Platoon Lance but didn't get either. >< We plan on doing it again after the Whm gets her Smn up high enough so we can go as 2 Smn and a Pld (me).
What do you think?

SMN/WHM x 3

Each using Astral Flow with Garuda. Piece of cake or are we in for a very unpleasant surprise?

Did this one a ways back, forgot to post it. Just have a well-equiped Dragoon, a White Mage, and a Beastmaster.

1. Beastmaster 2hr one Furie on the other.
2. Dragoon whomps Colo
3. White Mage heals above players.

I did it and it went flawlessly. I ended up waiting for the untamed Furie to kill the other one. Then I unleashed my Double Thurst on it... which was overkill at that point. Do Astrals really drop here now?

usual setup
# Jan 07 2005 at 3:43 PM Rating: Decent
I've done this one a few times to get the thunder spirit for LS Members, and typically, we go in with the same sets of jobs:

WHM/SMN (or /BLM)
BST/WHM
BST/WHM

The bst both run in, charm a furies each (no 2hour used), sic it on Colo. After that, we all rest, as charms fail, they recharm, until either the furies or colo are dead. Whatever's left at the end, they beat on with axes.

We're about 10/10 on it, though we haven't done it in a while (need to farm more seals).

However, after reading some of the posts here, I'm going to get a few other friends and see what else we can use for combinations to do this. I don't see why you couldn't do:

WHM/BLM
BST/WHM
Anything else

Bastically, have the BST charm one fury and put it on the other. Next, the (Anything) goes after Colo - so I'm thinking this cannot be another WHM. Could be RNG, BLM, or anything with WAR or /WAR to provoke. That keeps all 3 busy while the WHM keeps people healed.

Any thoughts?

You definitely can do this with slightly different combinations. Myself and two friends just did it as:
PLD/WAR
BST/RDM
WHM/BLM
It went pretty well, but not the drops we wanted. We just sent one furrie on the other and hammered away at colo colo. Looking back it may have been easier other ways, but we beat it. One thing, as BST make sure you don't two hour unless you know your pet will die. Our BST two houred then I killed colo-colo and his pet would have lived through the end of the time limit had he not had a trick staff and warped out.

My setup for this was BST/WHM, BLM/WHM, and NIN/WAR and worked beautifully.
RE: usual setup

Mabie as the thrid job, you could use a job that has a pet but doesn't need to charm (SMN^^) and then you wouldn't need to wory too too much
I have also heard that a PLD/WAR SMN/WHM and SMN/SHM have won this easy, 2hr is needed though for it to work...
but i think that a WHM/SMNorBLM, BST/WHM, and SMN/WHM wouldn't have any trouble at all^^
