I've done this one several times with BST/WHM, WHM/BLM, and PLD/WAR. In fact, I hold the record on fairy with this combination. Bring a Yagudo Drink (MP regen) for the WHM, one for the PLD, and tuna Sushi for the BST (+5 CHR). BST will need as much CHR gear as possible; I had +10 CHR, +15 with sushi. PLD needs decent gear, but nothing special; I believe our WHM did it naked once.

Walk in, buff up, have BST eat sushi. He charms a Fury, hits the Familiar, and has it smack the other Fury around for a little while, for about 1/10 of its HP, while the PLD plays with Colo-colo. BST then turns the Fury on Colo-colo while the PLD attacks the weakened Fury. BST and PLD beat the Fury to death (preferably away from Colo-colo, to avoid Poisonga) while the WHM heals them. Use drinks for MP if necessary. If you're careful, it probably won't be. BST should backup heal, of course.

If that first charm fails, have the PLD use Invincible while the BST runs around and tries to charm again. Once I had to try to charm 5 times before it stuck; we still made it out with no deaths.

After that Fury dies, rest up while Colo-colo kills the charmed Fury; if you're not quite ready, feed it to give yourself a bit more time. Fury dies, Colo-colo is angry, beat Colo-colo to death. Nothing to it. Have fun.

Hoping for a Thunder Spirit, I organized a trio for this fight. While we didn't get the Thunder, we did get an Astral Ring, so I won't complain. :)

Our jobs were
WHM/BLM
PLD/WAR
DRG/WAR

After some trial and error, here's the plan we'll stick with if and when we do this again:

Go in, buff up, pally and whm use yagudo drinks, dragoon uses pamama au lait. As whm, I also used a reraise scroll just in case. Pally went in and voked Colo-colo. Dragoon followed, and the fight ensued.

The pally used 4 hi-potions, the dragoon used 2, and the mage used 2-3 hi-ethers and 1-2 yagudo drinks throughout the course of the battle. Hi-ethers take a good 10-15 seconds to use, and the fighters needed healing in the mean time. We also brought antidotes for the poison AoE.

Note: If you are normally a high level, you may want to consider having everyone use reraise scrolls. If you allow yourself to be raised before the chest is opened, you should only lose level 20 XP. The mage can't raise, since that is a level 25 spell (S/he probably won't have the MP to spare anyway).

There really isn't much room to stay out of the range of the AoE and still be able to heal, so our idea was to hit Colo fast and hard so that the furies will fall into line afterwards. We did try attacking the furies first, and the results were disastrous; however, I know that attacking the little guys first has proved to be the best option for other parties.

In the end, the drops we received more than offset the cost of the potions and food. We got about a dozen miscellaneous items, including 2 scrolls (invis and deod), 2 Ganko, and a lovely, lovely Astral Ring. :)

Good luck!!!

OK - attempted this yesterday as BST BST WHM. It went dreadful ;_;

We had to Q for the BCNM, cos of all the NPCers. When we got our turn in the Q for BCNM, both BST entered without saying "ready" or anything to let me know (whm) that they were entering the battlefield. I knew they had entered when their gfx dissapeared. So i clicked on hut door and selected enter battlefield. A message came back something like "You are cleared to enter battlefield, but you have to wait as other PT members are engaged in battle." ><

It wouldnt let me in... I can only imagine that one of the BSTs was over-eager and had ran at a mob and engaged, before waiting for all PT members. I guess he didnt want protect, etc or to eat food or check that we were all buffed and ready to fight??

Do the mobs in this BCNM aggro immediately, or was this a BST fault, or was it my fault.

I still have my orb, but from previous BCNMs that i have done successfully, rule 1 = Always make sure that all members are entered and buffed and ready before engaging. I assume this applies for Wings Of fury. Can someone please confirm this please......

Thanks

Confirmed.

You can solo this as a BST20/WHM10

I attempted this tonight with 4 hi-potions.

I lost after I got the NM down to 1/10th of it's health because my big-headed roommate decided to block my view of the TV with his mammoth skull.

Rest assured I'll try this again with an additional HiPotion and a Rolanberry Pie.

I fought this thing with a Bst, War, and Whm. I was the warrior. The first time we fought it, we were successful. We bought some pineapple juice for the white mage and Hi-elixer. The bst charmed one of the bats and made it sic the Coco-coco. I fought the coco-coco and I made sure i had some of the aggro. We killed it and it took awhile but we didn't get a drop.

The fought it again the second time with the same strategy. The beastmaser, who was japanese ran towards the Coco-coco. I wasn't even ready yet. The beastmaster got all the aggro, and the whitemage tried curing him. Then after that, the whitemage got all the aggro. It was really hard for me to get the aggro after that. We were losing badly.

Lesson learned: If you're not the tank don't go into battle first. Make sure the tank startes the battle. Make sure that all party members are ready. Make sure there are no language barriers between the party members. I did this really late at night so there were no english speaking beastmasters.

I did it with 2 friends and we were all SMNs, we got lucky to made it out there without some1 dieing, but that was just barely. This 1 can't be solo'ed because you have less space to run around in and bats move faster then pugils.
GL if ure gonna try though.

After getting my BST to 20 a few days ago, I decided to solo BCNM 20 Ghelsba. I brought 20 Hi-Potions along and a tavnazian taco. I decided to sub war for the added str, dex, and vit since I would be tanking one Furres. I had plenty of back up with hi-potions.
My battle plan was to use tavnazian taco right away, and rest to restore the 20 extra HP it gives. I then proceeded to attempt to Charm a furies from one side. The first time, it failed, and I ran a circle around the battlefield to avoid some hits. I charmed again, it went through! I used familiar right away, and sent it to fight the colo-colo on one side of the battlefield. With the other Furies still on me, I ran to the other side to not get hate from hi-potions, and fought it, using them as needed. I would check the colo-colo's hp by using Switch target just to see. When Colo-Colo got near to death, I used Heel to stop them(If i didn't the Furies would still be charmed for at least a half hour).. The colo-colo proceeded to kill the charmed furies, and after I killed the furies I was fighting at about the same time the other one died, I killed the Colo-Colo in a few swings. And my prizes...

1500 Gil
Bat Fang
Astral Ring
Mythril Beastcoin
Gunromaru
Thunder Spirit Pact

Yep. I got the two most pricey drops, astral ring and thunder pact. I'm lucky. ^^

In the end, I had used 11 Hi-potion, and one tavnazian taco. I'm so glad that I tried it now.

Well this is the story, I had about 1200 gil left after buying all the Centurions Armor for my DRG, so I figured why not try it if I lose I lose. So I get two from my LS to help a BST and a WHM, I take my WAR. So I get the orb and go to Outpost to start quest. Since it was my first time the BST explained to me the strategy. Let him 2 hour wait until he gets charm and then voke other Furies. So we start and he gets charm and I voke, he sets his Furies on the Colo-Colo, and the three of us Focus on the other Furies. Well we kill our Furies and rest until other Furies dies. The funny thing was the charmed Furies damn near killed Colo-Colo, it serious had like a sliver of life left when it killed the Furies. It comes to us and we kill it. I pointed to the treasure and well let's just say I'm 900K richer, got the Ring drop on the first time, damn I'm a lucky ****** aren't I?

Wouldn't it make more sense to summon Garuda, or even Carbunkle, as Bats are weak to Wind and Light? (I find wind does more damage.)

My LS on Asura (ForgottenHeroes) delights in breaking the record on this one. So far, personally, I'm 8.5/9 on this one (.5 when 1 person died but we still won) and 2/9 on Astral Ring drop (one of which I happily use).

Three setups that are proven to work:

3x SMN + Shiva + 2HR = Record Setting effortless win. Done right with a lot of advance consideration, you could even do this 2 or 3 times right in a row.

2x BST 1x WHM = The oldest and most-tried method - charm the 2 Furies, kill Colo, then sic the Furies on each other on-and-off until "there can be only one" then wail on it with axes.

The one I've done 8/9 times:

1x BST 1x WHM 1x WAR/PLD - BST charms one Furies and uses 2HR to ensure it sticks, WAR provokes the other Furies. WHM keeps BST alive if charm doesn't work the first time while BST kites. WAR/PLD + Pie has enough mp to keep himself alive while the WHM focuses on the BST. Charmed Furies engages Coco, WAR/BST hack 2nd Furies to death. All pt members drink juice and kneel/rest while Coco finishes charmed Furies, then all 3 destroy Coco (we've noticed Banishga works really well especially closer to the end).

Yea, my favorite way sounds the most elaborate...but when you only know 1 BST like I do, you don't get a lot of other options :-)

<polishes astral ring on finger..>

Happy hunting!

I agree. This bcnm dosen't have to be done with 2 bsts. In fact, its a little bit easier with just one.

This was our setup:
War/mnk (later Pld/war when she unlocked Adv. jobs)
Whm/blm(me)
Bst/nin

Battle is very simple.
Buff at start, including blink and aquaveil for the whm. Rest til full and designate who is going to be attacking what furry.
Once that is decided, War runs in and provokes one furry, while the Bst charms the other and sets it against Colo-colo.

Then the party retreats with one angry furry to a safe distance from Colo's poisonga attack. War tanks, bst/nin melee's with dual wield, whm melees with the Misery staff (strongest staff at lvl20 and works well if the curse effect does go off)

Normal party rules apply. Whm keeps everyone alive, War provokes and holds hate, Bst keeps track of when his pet uncharms and re-charms accordingly.

With this setup you'll kill the furry you pulled before Colo-colo kills the other. At this point move as far as you can from Colo and everyone rest.
Bst keeps it charmed until it dies, which is when Colo-colo will charge the group. (usually about 20-30 sec of resting time) Then everyone engages colo-colo and takes out whats left of its HP (which won't be much)

It seems a little easier than the 2 Bst way, because: You don't have to worry about the chaos 2 uncharmed pets brings, and your Whm will know who needs to be cured more at any given time. (war when the pet is charmed, bst when its not)

Its also good for the Bst to be using <lastst> which targets the last thing you used that ability on.(ex: /ja "Charm" <lastst> will charm the previously charmed mob without having to disengage)

I'm 10/10 for wins this way and 2/10 for the drop. ^^;

Just to point out, wouldn't a Pld/War work better in your strategy? More mp, so you can use def food instead of pie and take a -lot- less damage. War/Pld seems a little silly since you're taking more damage, needing more mp, and the extra damage inflicted by a War really isn't really enough of a difference considering you have a Bst.
ive done this 20 times exactly and here some INFO

Optimal Party Set Up:
1) Beastmaster
2) Beastmaster
3) Melee (most work well)

The reason you want to thave 2x beastmasters is othat you can charm the two small bats to go after COLO. This makes the fight a peice of cake. JUST LET THE BATS DO THE WORK FOR YOU. Colo will kill both bats before he is compleatly dead but he will be near like 1/10 health. so what u do now is simply go in and kill him. Having a war or /war works good too because when a bat losses its charm you can have he/she voke the bat while the cooldown time for charm ends up. and gives the beastmaster another chance to charm it again.

Thats all you need to know if u have never done this before. There are alot of drops but the prefered drop is obviously the "Astral Ring"
pretty fun

my friends and i did this last night. we went with 2 bsts and me (mnk). basically after protect, i would dodge and walk close slowly staying to the right till i get natural aggro. the 2 bsts charm the furies. and we take it from there. whenever a charm is missed, i voke it and fight it until it can get charmed. and i never voke colo or even fight him until he's almost dead. after colo colo is dead, it gets much easier. last night we dropped astrals at least 3 times.

Actually i've done this 5 times in 3 days, spending a lot of BS. Every time i win with 3 SMN and 3*2hr(except one time that we should do a 4th*2hr cuz someone uses Fenrir). Except Fenrir and Carbuncle, any other avatar deal 316-312 dmg, so is not important if u choose Garuda or Shiva.
We got 0/5 Astral Ring ; ;
2/5 Thunder Spirit Scroll (150k fairy) is not so good ; ;

My group just beat this BCNM for the first time. We also got the Astral Ring which made us all very happy as our resident WHM is saving up for Erase. Our setup was pretty basic, nothing terribly fancy. Just the following:

WAR/MNK
BST/WHM
SMN/WHM

For food, I did a melon pie (I was the SMN). The WAR did boiled crab meat for extra defense and Vit. I don't remember what kind of sushi the BST used, but it was +Chr and +HP.

We did pretty straightforward stuff. The BST charmed one of the Furies and made it a familiar. I paralyzed Colo with Ramuh's Thunderspark Bloodpact and healed, and the WAR tanked Colo. The WAR used his 2hr when Colo was about 3/4 dead I think (he probably didn't need to use it, next time we'll try without it). It wasn't anything fancy, but it worked.

The total items we used were 2 Apple au laits, 1 Yagudo drink, 2 Hi-Potions, and a few Antidotes.

Overall, this was a really fun fight, and it was a great added bonus that we got the ring on the first success. I hope my set and I get to do it again very soon.

We thought we had this in the bag, except we messed up a little bit.

Setup: BST / WHM / RNG (me)

FOOD:
BST: Flint Caviar
RNG: Mutton Tortilla
WHM: Rolanberry Pie

We enter. BST immeditely charms fury, success first shot. Pits it against other fury, and I (RNG) go after colo. With the Mutton Tortilla, My Ranged Attacks are averaging 90 with Criticals for 105+. The fury becomes uncharmed, so I quickly finish Colo with Eagle Eye Shot (for 400). Unfortunately, our WHM ran low on MP, and didn't keep the BST healed, thus he died. I quickly got hate and finished off other fury, but 2nd one Jet Streamed me and WHM couldnt keep me healed. So, it was a close shot. Lesson? Bring Ethers, WHMs. Bring lots of ethers. I shouldve had some potions too.
