I did this last night with 1BST/WHM WAR and WHM/BLM(ME) This had to be the easiet thing on earth. I was ready to get my *** whooped but we didnt I had only 3 X-Potions(8k) and 3 Hi-Ether(5k) on Fenrir. The war also had 3x X-Potions. BST Charmed a Fury to fight Colo Colo and he fought the other Fury I also helped him. The WAR fought the Colo Colo also when we lost charm it wasnt that big of a deal. YOu could do this easily with no BST 3 WAR could do this if they have at least 3-5 XPotions. I only had to use Poisana about 3 times and CureII twice but that was because BST ran away and I just wanted to be on the safe side for the WAR. But I ended up using all 3 Hi-Ethers and only 2 of the 3 X-Potions so did the WAR. So if you die you suck seriously. The drop was crap but we are going to do this again till we get 2 Astral Rings each :)
First Ever BCNM!

Just completed this on Gilgamesh server. My first ever BCNM and we won! Drop was Astral Ring, Bat wing, bat fang, red rock, platoon sword and sneak scroll. Our set up was experimental but successful.
20Whm/blm 20pup/blm and 19Bst/pld. Bst was a little short on level so we made sure he had plenty of CHR with Monster Signa, a Charisma potion and Flint Caviar. We also were all stocked up on Hi-Potion +3 a few X potion just in case and of course Yagudo Drinks. Here's how it went down from my perspective as the Pup/blm....We got in I ate a Rolanberry Pie, chugged a yagudo drink. Bst charmed one fury first try (ty chr bonuses) and sent it at Colo-Colo. Activated my automaton, used earth manuever for Stoneskin, sent it at 1 set of fury. Joined my puppet in fighting the fury. WHM stood back and healed of course. All was going smoothly until WHM got taken down, by this time both the furys were toast and we were working on Colo-Colo, automoton at 1/4 life spamming light manuever as best I could. Colo-Colo was at only 1/2 life. BST and I thought for sure it was over but rather than giving up we fought harder. Colo-colo got down to 1/3 life and BST was outta potions and at 39hp, I threw an Xpotion on to myself and got Colo-Colo's attention and managed to keep it to the very end all the while casting Aero and stone to help bring it down and using Shoulder tackle every chance and we beat him.
Our only error was that the WHM didn't have any potions on him due to the fact that he didn't have the space. Overall a successful run! Good luck!

There is a glitch in this bcnm. A year or 2 ago, Bst's could use their 2Hour on a bat, after he was charmed and Then after the other bats died they could exit the bcnm, so the bat doesnt stay charmed, and the time runs out. Yesturday are bst charmed, and 2Hour a furry. Then he left Bcnm and the Bat followed him outside -_-. The bat stayed with him until bst zoned, then finally went bac to the bcnm. But then the bat wasn't Attackable, and other people out of bcnm could use JA on him. Finally time ran out and we lost...

How do you start this fight?
# May 18 2006 at 2:12 PM Rating: Decent
I know this sounds dumb but I want lance and don't know how to start fight.
Also, (x3) 20 cap means that you cannot enter fight if you are over level 20 right?

you can still fight them. your level is just capped at 20. which means if your are level 25 you will be put at 20 just for the fight.
Yeah right.

Just did this. It was a Full Moon at 100% on Lightsday so we were pretty pumped. It was me(BST/WHM), a WHM/BLM, and a BLU/WAR and NIN/WAR switching to tank/kite. Even with the "lucky" moon we lost our first 3 tries. After we got the hang of it however, it became really easy. The BLU was very good at killing the bats fast, with Bludgeon, Feather Storm, etc. and the NIN is easy for the WHM due to shadows. So we won twice and got crap drops, causing me to lose all faith in the moon. But it was fun so w/e.

It seems to me that SE does offer quite a lot of options depending on what you can get at the time.

We did this with the following setup:
SMN/whm (Galka)
SMN/whm (Hume)
NIN/war (myself/Elvaan)

Our first time in wiped, lol. That was expected and we had some fun at it, neither SMN used two hour that time.

Second time in, I used Dorado Sushi (only food I had on me), and cast shadows. Hume smn protectra-ed, then Galka smn set Titan on Colo and 2-houred.

I kited one set of Furies, although Poisonga from Colo continuously took off shadows. As soon as I started getting hit I ate an au lait. The other SMN also Astral Flowed seeing that we weren't doing enough damage.

I basically switched target back and forth trying to keep hate on both Furies while SMNs wailed on the thing. The au lait kept me alive, and I tried my best to keep hate on the Furies so the SMN don't take too much damage. (The fact we had Galka and Hume SMN might explain why they were red but not dead at the end.)

Not the most effective set up, and possibly a PLD tank might even do better in the capacity I was acting in the battle since they have more VIT, DEF and can cure themselves and pt members, and their 2-hr is actually useful for this situation >.> I might try that next.

But all in all, it was good. We got Thunder Spirit Pact, Platoon Dagger, Black Rock, bat fang (lol) and Astral Ring :D

Thank you very much Giro (Galka SMN) and Beans (Hume SMN) of Siren for taking me on. ^^

Edit: Added note here, just noticed from scroll:
Our pt did the fight in 3 minutes 35 seconds, and now hold the Siren Record for Wings of Fury ^^

Broke record with SMNs

Just finished doing this on Sylph with 3 SMN/WHMs. All walked in, popped Yag Drinks, and summoned Ramuh. We all 2-houred, sent Ramuh in, and waited for all the mobs to get nice and close.

3 nearly simultaneous Judgement Bolts later, all 3 mobs died and we break the record at 1:44.

I'm sure that BST/WHMs are probably best at this BCNM, since they can go three times in a row without having to wait for their 2-hours to be ready. However, BST/WHM isn't the only job that can succeed at this. ^^

Edit: Just did this a few hours after the first and beat our record! Shaved ten seconds off- 1:34. Probably could have done it a little faster, but we wanted to be safe.

Also, I wanted to point out that it's possible to use Garuda against these, too. It was Earthsday on our second run, and we didn't want to use a gimped avatar. Aerial Blast did the same amount of damage as Judgement Bolt and had the same rate of resist.

PUP might work?
# Apr 30 2006 at 2:53 PM Rating: Decent

I have been thinking for some time now, I guessed that while the puppetmaster's pet has stoneskin, decent meele dmg and some spells he might be able to tank the Colo sufficiently until its death (with me hacking away like a coward at his back). Since stoneskin lasts a decent time if it wores off ill just overdrive and hit the manuever until it starts again. If Puppet's dead re-activate it brand new with full mp and hp. Also de Sc will land some points so I'm guessing it might work, any feedback? oh and also, Bard as sub for CHR+ and army's peon (poisonga etc.)

Easiest way to do this
# Apr 15 2006 at 3:12 PM Rating: Decent
This bcnm is by far the easiest i have ever done. Never even came close to losing.

Brd/whm
Bst/whm
Bst/whm

Bsts charm 2 furies and beat up main nm bat.
Brd uses paeon 1 & 2 and sleeps the furies when bsts mischarm them (which you will)

Then when main bat is dead have furies beat each other up, when one is dead everyone team up on last bat.

Easy to solo as an alchemist and gear. I walk in as a 20BST/10MNK for health/counter/defense. All the +chr equipment, +def food(i worry about dying) and 20 potions. water crystal 2k, lizard tails 2k, sage 2k in sandy, and distilled water 200g. with 60 alchemy i would HQ about 3 potions and make enough gil in AH to offset the cost of the potions. At this point with all the defense and +1000 heatlh from potions with 2-hour its super easy. My best run only took 5 potions (1 failed charm) and the worst took 18 (3 failed charms). I havent lost with this strategy in the 3 runs i've tried it, but my drops were less than 9k each. at which point i stopped. I'm a taru, so im sure some other race could easily do this without the fear of dying from bats. good luck fellow alchemist. also, make a few antidotes since that poison is a pain.

Party config:
Bst/whm---ME
Whm/Blm
Smn/Whm

We did this many times and thru trial and error have it down pat. We lost a few in the beginning, but have not lost in about 6 or 8 fights. So we are like 8/12 with 6 astral rings (2 for each of us) and 3 or 4 thunder pacts.

When we first enter the fight...
Whm/blm cast Shellra
Smn/whm cast Protectra
Bst/whm cast Barpoisonra

Everyone rests up to full MP. Whm/blm eats Boiled Crayfish. Smn/whm casts ifrit and I(bst) charms left furie. I am only wearin +5 to charm (2 rings and 1 bird whistle), so sometimes it takes me a few times to get them charmed. When I do, I use my 2 hour. As soon as I get furies on colo, I help ifrit with the other furies.
Smn/whm drinks melon juice and rests when needed. Whm/blm keeps me alive while I fight furies. Whm/Blm rests when needed as I can cure myself or him if he keeps takin hate. Usually we kill off the furies and have time to rest up for colo.
My charmed furies die to colo and smn/whm calls out ifrit. Colo is left u are home free now. Smn/whm uses ifrits wicked move and does 300+ damage to colo and then we open chest...

Only 2 times have I had to log because of my charmed furies being only bats left. In that case I log out quick and back in. Then we have found that U MUST have a SMN to finish off the fight. If you log u cannot atk the bats for some reason. SO bring a SMN for just that reason. That and they can keep the other furies busy while u are tryin to charm the other furies. They special move at the end really helps.

Our best time was just under 5 minutes and our worst was around 8 minutes.

Just did this. I agree whole heartedly with the last post. Familiar 2-hour makes it much easier. I have to add that you will want to make sure that the last bats don't have too much health. This can happen if they mischarm alot while you leave the familiar fury to fight the colo colo. Be careful. A single fury can be a battle all by itself for some tired beastmasters and a white mage.

Cure 2 brings more hate than I'd expect. Use cure whenever you can, and cure 2 if your far from the battle. If you get a point where the colo is dead and the furies are both charmed, that's a good time for any emergency seal-curaga. I used whm/brd so I could use barpoisona and Army's Paeon to offset poison, worked relatively well.

Also I don't know whether you can figure this out by yourself but this really helped us (I was whm):
While one bst runs away from a mischarmed bat, let him run in a circle around the field. The whm then should run in the opposite direction around the field. This means that you'll be able to get a cure off while the bst is running, he won't get out of the area of the spell. Also it look really funny from outside. XD

Don't fight these on darksday if you can. They charms don't stick very well.

Current record: 5/8 wins (0/2 as rdm, 5/6 as whm) and 0/5 drops.

This is a rare drop. I saw it done maybe 10 times by various parties including us, and no ring.

3xBST/WHM is the way to go :)
# Mar 31 2006 at 11:06 AM Rating: Decent
In my opinion, 3xBST/WHM is the best way to do this BCNM and allows you to do it three times in a row with practically no chance of dying or losing. Each of the three BST brings their own orb. These bats are stronger than you'd think, especially Colo-Colo. I've heard horror stories from people in my linkshell of trying to work a standard party type setup with very bad results. I'm sure it can be done, but 3xBST/WHM is so rediculously easy I can't see why you'd want to do it another way (especially if everybody wants to use an orb, since it gets trickier with 2xBST & 1xWHM because on one of the runs "Familiar" will not be available.)

If you're thinking about soloing this as BST, PLEASE DON'T unless you just really want to prove to yourself that you can do it. You'll spend so much money on potions, food, etc and the drops CAN be crappy so you might not even get your money back. Just stand in Lower Jeuno and shout to see if someone wants to do this BCNM. At least one other BST will want to do it and will be able to bring their own orb. Just pass leader to whoever is using the orb before you go in and make sure that distribution is set to "Quartermaster" so whoever uses the orb is guaranteed to get all the drops.

Here's the battle plan:

Go in and one person casts Protectra and rests. Use Tuna Sushi if you want to up the chances of charm. Usually this Tuna Sushi will last all 3 BCNM runs since you'll beat it in less than 10 minutes each time. Two of the BSTs pick from the left or right Furies and the third BST is backup for mischarms. Decide beforehand who will use "Familiar" since you only want one BST to use it per run (and make sure it's clear in party chat in your macro that you're using this ability). If that BST can't get a charm, one other BST that still has "Familiar" available uses it instead. After using "Familiar", sick that Furies on Colo-Colo. Sick the 2nd Furies on Colo-Colo after the "Familiar" Furies have established hate well. Pay close attention to make sure that Colo-Colo is not dying too quickly with the "Familiar" Furies still strong. If you sick both on Colo-Colo, use "Heel" on the 2nd Furies once Colo-Colo falls a little below 1/2 HP so that he can still kill the "Familar" furies.

The key here is that the "Familiar" Furies must die or you'll be standing there with a 30 minute guaranteed charmed pet and a 15 minute BCNM (OOPS ;p). Colo-Colo should beat the "Familiar" Furies to death by the time he's somewhere around 1/3 health. Use the other Furies on Colo-Colo and all BSTs rest up if they've been hit and backup charm as necessary. You'll probably end up with Colo-Colo dying and a charmed Furies, or maybe just Colo-Colo left standing greatly weakened. If the Furies is victorious, once that Furies decharms the 3 BSTs beat it to death very easily. With all on BST/WHM, you'll have plenty of MP to heal whoever ends up hitting the hardest and "tanking" this last Furies (or Colo-Colo as the case may be).

Repeat 3X in a row and hope you all get Astrals ;) The last time can be kinda interesting since whoever has "Familiar" left available really needs to land a charm quickly. Even if you just go with regular charms, with 3xBST it should be pretty easy.

I've also done this with 2xBST/WHM using the same strategy, except there's not a 3rd beast to backup charm, so you might end up running around a little more trying to land charms. This is just SOOO easy with 3xBST/WHM that it seems like most of your time is spent resting waiting on the bats to beat each other to death. BST is a highly desired BCNM job, so you'll probably want to get BST to at least 20 anyway.

I've just done this BCNM twice with 2BST and 1WHM. We go in, charm the 2 Furies and use Familiar, kill Colo Colo...1 BST temp logges so the charm wears, the other tells pet to attach..pet wins...2nd BST temp logs to lose charm, party can no longer attack the last bat. Has something changed with BST, or Familiar or this BCNM? That's 2 wasted orbs and about 3 hours and food, etc. GM was called after first and he was aware of it and could do nothing. Heel command also does not seem to work in this battle, Heel calls pet to me, but Furies do not continue to attack.
