I was thinkin this fight would be easier if you only had to fight one at a time, when it dawned on me that a whm/smn could "safe pull" one of the lizzys back to a set camp with carby. This allows for all three members to focus on the one lizard at a time! I would still recommend a nin/war tank and you can throw whatever DD in you want to (subbing nin for errant hate issues).
Curious though, I'd heard this dropped Utsusemi: Ni. Is this true or not. I don't want to spend 30 seals tryin to get it if it doesn't drop here and I don't need the boots...1/1 on LL since update. Thankyou in advance for responding. :)

Battle NotesIn order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Sky Orb, which is obtained by trading 30 Beastmen's Seals to Shami in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Sky Orb to the door of the Ghelsba Outpost hut and choose to enter the battle Petrifying Pair. Up to 3 people may enter and you will all receive a level 30 restriction. You have 15 minutes to win. In here you only fight 2 lizards: Kilioa & Kalamainu.
StrategiesOne of the most common strategies involves a tank, a DD, and a kiter (usually a RDM/BLM). The tank can be either WAR/NIN or PLD/WAR. DD's are usually a WAR/NIN with a Great Axe or a DRG/WHM (for self-curing while the RDM is Gravity-kiting the other lizard). At the start of the fight, buff, eat appropriate foods, rest to RDM's full MP, and then go after the brown lizard (the one on the left) as the RDM starts Gravity kiting the white lizard on the right. Don't forget, tanks, to unlock target and turn your back to the lizards as soon as you see them ready Baleful Gaze, to prevent being petrified. Definately, 100% confirmed that it does. Got it a few minutes ago^^ (~70% moon, lightsday). The drop seems to be rarer than leapers - my pt is 1/5 on Ni and 2/5 on boots.
EDIT: P.S. Did it with WAR/NIN, RNG/NIN, and RDM/NIN. Similar strategies to those posted before (RDM kites one while the others kill the other), ended up with a time little over 6 minutes. Nobody was petrified this time, which made it easier. Good luck all!^^

A friend of mine and I duoed this a few days ago. He went as SMN/RDM, I went (accidentally, lol) as SMN/BLM because I'd warped earlier and forgotten to change my sub.
We used Garuda on Windsday, though we would have tried Shiva had it been Iceday. The lizards are pretty far apart to start, so that posed a problem. The first Aerial Blast each of us did only affected our target lizards. The second ones were on top of each other, though, and that made a huge difference. In future, I'd send pets out to engage, then have them retreat to stack the 2 hours.
We went in with Tavnazian Tacos, Persikos au Laits and Yagudo Drinks. We also took Ethers and Hi-Potions, though at one point my friend was a little slow and got down to 8 hp, lol. I used two each of yag drinks, ethers and hi-potions. We each used Aerial Blast twice, and between that and pet melee, it finished off both lizards.
The prior record on Fairy for this BCNM had been 8+ minutes. We set the new record (sloppily) at 4+ minutes. ^_^
Drops were two lizard skins, Dispel, darksteel ore and a hi-ether. Total value on Fairy about 130k. =/
According to http://ffxi.cannotlinkto/bcnm/5 this bcnm has potentially more interesting drops (including Leaping Boots since the Rare/Ex changes) than are listed on Alla. I really wouldn't mind seeing those boots drop (2mil+ on Fairy now). I'm trying to talk him in to one or two more runs, potentially with another SMN, a WHM or PLD.

Don't suppose a SMN or a WHM could do this could they? Those are the only 2 jobs I have that are over lvl 30 and these are almost expected for a NIN to have on Asura and I've never been good at camping NMs seeing as A LOT of people that camp NMs like this one are Gil Sellers and bot -_- Really would like to lvl NIN and have these for lvling.
Ok, I was just wondering if a DRK/ sub whatever can do this BCNM <i can also do it as war but that would require me buying more equipment for war and not DRK which i have most of equip i need for DRK>

I just did this Bcnm a lil while ago, and i can safly say that Rdm/nin, Nin/war, and Rng/nin is a very effective setup. Nin/war to tank obviously, Rng/nin to do some serious ranged damage, and Rdm/nin to kite the white one.
items used:

Rng/nin: same
Rdm/nin: Hi-ethers, yag juices, cookie or 2, and a sushi.

From what I, see it can be done with out RDM, ust need some strategy. I am going to try this out with people from bahamut.

crrently my war is 10, and my nin is 24... but i can have alot time to level the job but... I am leveling a job i want to take high,its my nspiration at the moment, and is a mage.
So heres what I am going to do
going as thf/nin, and doing what I said should not be a problem, plain and simple.
But if i think abut it i can do this so many ways.
I can do this: (either)
thf/nin (main option)
nin/war or
nin/thf (with bream sushi, and the use if sneak attack there should not be a problem at all).
(as all have siad time your utsusemi intervals and keep them up).
The item my cousin has which he bought for no reason I want . its an earring.. dodge.. he uys rings in jeuno just to sell them.. or if he finds thme else where he sells them. so i can beg him for it plus evasion whether nin/war or nin/thf would help.
All and al.
war/nin, me, and mnk/nin, havng few hi-pots... adn ou deseired foods, and probably some hp regen if needed will make paste ot ofthis bcnm. i like using quartermaster all my treasurei in this one will belong to the persons whom orb it was....

I can use those silence weapons i go lus 1 of them, and going as nin/war or war/thf, i probably would be put against it and if i get lucky ind a nice and clean silence.. pls the fact i got a job ability that will keep the tp gain of the lizard down.
But if i was thf/nin I would be taming up and helping with the brown lizard killig it with the mnk/nin. =).. thus I do not have to do it now..
i know i am not i like to ramble.. lol I will level my nin's subjob first to 20, or nearing 5 since its 10.. but when i go to dunes with a new or low job I do not like to stop lveling it up or taking a break period.. just like this... Once i am there 10-0 ll the way.. no interference. now adays melee are harder to find ;-;. soi hope i get invits in dunes.
But this will work. I need to level war to 20. thne continue leveling my nin to 30.
Thus, I will have many options to do this bcnm with.

I camped LL for Bounding for about 1 hour... no pop at all and i had to leave =/ tried to camp LL again... waited about 2 1/2 hours until someone who was camping got the idea to PT up so it might be easier. I joined his PT, just the 2 of us lol... about 10 min. later... LL pops!!

hi i was wondering is there a npc i talk to to start the quest for the petrifing pair for the leap boots
To open the door in Ghelsba Outpost, you'll need a Sky Orb. To get this, you need to trade 30 Beastman's Seals to Shami in Port Jeuno. He will give you the orb.
Then, to enter the battlefield, trade the orb to Hut Door. The person to trade the orb will then be able to choose Petrifying Pair from the list. Once that first person is inside the battlefield, an icon should show up next to your other buffs and signet. That means that the door will be unlocked and the rest of the party can enter.
And while I'm at it: The lizards will not aggro until you move forward about 5 steps or so. If you sit back, mages will be able to cast buffs and heal, and nobody will get aggro.
Then, to enter the battlefield, trade the orb to Hut Door. The person to trade the orb will then be able to choose Petrifying Pair from the list. Once that first person is inside the battlefield, an icon should show up next to your other buffs and signet. That means that the door will be unlocked and the rest of the party can enter.

Now going to static this bcnm. 6/7 1st time we failed, rdm thought he could sleep and died almost instant. but after that easy as hell, let pld get hate then flaming arrow barrage flaming arrow and the 1st 1 is dead. 2nd 1 can be kited and ranged or tanked and meleed.
If you play 1 of these jobs well look for static members it will pay off.

OK, so me and two other guys on my LS have run this BCNM 7 times, and we are 2/7 (2/4 since we hammered out a strategy, and the two wipes are described below). It isn't so tough but it does require some luck to win. The problem comes in when someone gets petrified by Baleful Gaze. WHM can't stona or even barpetra at lvl 30. My team holds the record for this BCNM on Remora, or at least we did last time we tried it.
How we did it:
Our party was two WAR/NIN and a RDM/NIN. The WAR/NIN's dual wield Centurion's sword and eat Meat chiefkabobs. The RDM/NIN eats a Rolanberry Pie and drinks a Yagudo Drink at the start. RDM buffs everyone, puts up whatever protection buffs he has at level 30, then rests to full. WAR/NIN use Utsusemi. Do this right, and no 2-hour abilities are necessary.
On RDM's call, both WAR/NIN move in on one of the lizards, we generally take the brown one. The RDM kites the white lizard and keeps gravity on it, and binds when possible. The WAR/NIN bounce hate and try to keep shadows up as best as possible. If done correctly, no curing will be necessary. Once the brown lizard goes down, everyone kill the white lizard.
If you are lucky, the white lizard will be bound when the brown one falls, giving you a little time to rest MP and reorganize. With all three party members on one lizard, it goes down really quickly.
Notes on petrify: If one of your tanks gets petrified, you are in trouble. Sometimes it wears quickly, other times it won't wear until one tank is dead and the other is in the red. I thought that since it was a gaze petrification, I could unlock and turn away. Maybe I didn't do it fast enough, but I got petrified still and got hit in my rock hard back.
I suppose you could drop a lot of gil on potions and whatnot, but the point of a BCNM is to avoid spending tons of gil to get your rare drops. A few hi-potions should be enough unless you really mess up.
Silly mistakes that lead to wipes:
My provoke macro was set to <bt>, since I am often first voke with my DRK. This caused me to provoke the lizard the RDM was kiting, getting me hate from the white lizard while our other WAR was still getting hit by the brown one. This was bad.
Once our RDM bound the white lizard right next to us while we were fighting the brown lizard. This was bad too, since it started attacking the WAR's since it couldn't reach the RDM.

PT members: WAR/NIN - Me and Psyco, RDM/NIN - Timarik

I suppose you could drop a lot of gil on potions and whatnot, but the point of a BCNM is to avoid spending tons of gil to get your rare drops. A few hi-potions should be enough unless you really mess up.
Silly mistakes that lead to wipes:
My provoke macro was set to <bt>, since I am often first voke with my DRK. This caused me to provoke the lizard the RDM was kiting, getting me hate from the white lizard while our other WAR was still getting hit by the brown one. This was bad.
Once our RDM bound the white lizard right next to us while we were fighting the brown lizard. This was bad too, since it started attacking the WAR's since it couldn't reach the RDM.
Drops: Leaping Boots, Shield belt, Hi-ether, Cold Carrion Broth, other worthless junk

YOU NEED A REDMAGE!! Gravity is almost a neccesity when doing this BCNM. A strategy that has worked many times for me(blm/whm), my brother(war/nin) and my husband(rdm/nin) should work great for you.
1. At start buff up... rest up.
2. All at the same time, RDM cast Gravity on the brown one, BLm cast bind on the brown one, War provoke the white one.
3. Blm always stay as far away from the brown one as possible so when bind comes off you have time to recast without being beat to the ground. Also Blm should keep paralyze and blind on the white lizard.
4. Rdm always keep gravity on the brown one! Rdm can(should) also Melee the white one with the War.
*Some things that help alot are HP potions(in case mages cant cast heal at the time) and MP potions.
5. After white one is dead, gravity and bind the brown one safely away from party and rest up.
6. When ready, slaughter the brown one(he is the easiest of the two).
Most importantly, do not panic when the white lizard cast pertify on the tank (he WILL do it, but should continue to beat on the tank). Petrify only last a little while. Just keep tank healed and keep liz's bound and away from mages.
So... have fun with your new drops!

Doing this BCNM as we speak, myself, Antdog, and Linadarklor on Cerberus. 0/2 so far for Leaping Boots, but we did get a Chestbut Log. >_< We're about to give it a 3rd go for the boots....I'll edit once we're done.

no need just bind wait a few secs then grav, repeat. also u can cast regen on a tank after bind and before grav

Can anyone absolutely confirm that this drops Utsusemi: Ni? It isn't listed on the drops list, but neither is Leaping Boots and was curious because I only saw one post saying that they got it from this BCNM. Thanks!
Me and two friends went in with Mnk, Rdm and Whm.
Whm Elemental Seal Binds the brown one, then keeps the monk alive who kills the other one. The Rdm binds and Gravities the brown one untill the white one is finished.
Mages took 2 yag drinks each. Got Leaping boots on our first run, so i'm happy.

my cousin, my brother, and i (in garuda) are 3/6 on this fight the best drop has been an uts-ni scroll. we re-set the record each time we did it. the final record we set was 4:12. blm to bind, pld to tank, and rng to dd.

went in as war/nin war/nin rdm/blm (snapper, callidus, cvalda on cerebus respectively). i have to believe this is the optimum non-bst set up. wars used sushi, i used rolanberry. war's had echo drops and a few hi potions, i had 6 yag drinks (barely required 1 per fight) and echos (unused).
elemental seal + bind on white one. one war vokes the brown one and they go to work. waited a moment then casted gravity on the white one, and began kiting when bind broke. ran to a corner of the arena and debuffed the brown one. reapplied bind when possible, re-gravity'ed when it wore off and threw out what little cures the wars required.
brown one dies 3-4 minutes in, and then we go all out on the white one. rdm nukes ftw. criminally easy bc.

sarashi
hq carrion broth
fight 2 - ~6:30 [new record]

scythe belt

around 450k to each. aside from sarashi though, the belts were worthless due to how long they take to sell. very easy bc and i'm glad we go the pay out on our first attempt, because i wouldn't use the seals a second time. too much risk drop wise.
