If you're a NIN looking for Ni, I would recommend doing this one over and over instead of BCNM40. This one is much, much easier.

Battle NotesIn order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Sky Orb, which is obtained by trading 30 Beastmen's Seals to Shami in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Sky Orb to the door of the Ghelsba Outpost hut and choose to enter the battle Petrifying Pair. Up to 3 people may enter and you will all receive a level 30 restriction. You have 15 minutes to win. In here you only fight 2 lizards: Kilioa & Kalamainu.
StrategiesOne of the most common strategies involves a tank, a DD, and a kiter (usually a RDM/BLM). The tank can be either WAR/NIN or PLD/WAR. DD's are usually a WAR/NIN with a Great Axe or a DRG/WHM (for self-curing while the RDM is Gravity-kiting the other lizard). At the start of the fight, buff, eat appropriate foods, rest to RDM's full MP, and then go after the brown lizard (the one on the left) as the RDM starts Gravity kiting the white lizard on the right. Don't forget, tanks, to unlock target and turn your back to the lizards as soon as you see them ready Baleful Gaze, to prevent being petrified. Figured I'd share our tactics with everyone here, oh and if you lose u can't use the orb again it is cracked and u can't trade it to the door.
We go in with a Rng, Whm, and me a Smn
Rng opens with 2hr then barrage on the Lizzie on the right, Taking about half his HP while Whm cast regen etc, this draws aggro to the Rng so the whm can concentrate on him, as i summon Garuda use astral flow and Aerial Blast for about 450 dmg on each Lizzie, usually killing the first one and taking 1/4 of the 2nds HP.
Just as i use astral Flow i drink one melon juice and take one ether, by the time the Blood Pact Timer gets back to zero i can use aerial blast again, and the fight is over.
Just another strat for the smn out there, as they are very good with AOE blasts usuing avatars for bcnm's we hold the record time on Garuda at 2 min 48 seconds.
Havent got any good drops like the Avatar Belt i want, or the Sarashi, but we did get lance belt, mace belt one time.
gotta keep trying for the good belts!

Im just wondering does charm work on them ?

I was in a party that took these on, consisting of brd/whm, pld/war, and drk/war. We built up our TP before going, I used my 2 hour to start out (I was the bard) and buffed just after entering. Even with my 2 hour and Mary's horn I was unable to sleep either lizard, but we still killed them both and got the following drops:

Iron Ingot
Scroll: Absorb INT
The combined value of these at the AH is around 6k. We spent almost that much on food for this battle.

This went really well... compared to the BCNM 20. It was our first time doing this.
PT consisted of:

As soon as we walked through we went for Kilioa, WAR used sharpshoot berserk and pericing arrow hit him for 222 pts of dammage. WHM cast Barfira. MNK (me) used my tp (one inch punch) and hit him for 146pts of dammage. WHM was concentrating heals on WAR cause was getting most aggro. When Kilioa was about 75% dead, I used Focus~ Dodge~ Hundred Fists and took him down quickly with a combo in the middle of it.
On to Kalamainu we went with my hundred fists still going I hit him pretty well, as it wore off I had built up enough tp for another combo and downed a potion. Our HP were staggering below 100 but WHM was doing a great job of keeping us alive. WAR used 2 hr, but only hit him once or twice. I kept using combos as often as TP would let me and WAR using Shadow of Death and an occasional shot with his bow. He too went down relatively quick. WHM made it out with 8 MP left.
To our surprise we beat the Time Record of 4 min 36 seconds, with 4 min 11 seconds! That was pretty cool.
Treasure was:
Lizard skin
darksteel ore
light opal
cold carrion broth
Treasure again not so good, but breaking the time record was nice!
Hundred Fists rocks in this fight, it allowed us to take down the mobs quickly. Only one potion was used but we would have been ok w/o. TP at 300 before you go in is my best advice. Buff up on food and drinks and take a RNG. That sharpshoot attack started things off nicely.

Was the other lizard hitting the WAR as you took out Kilioa, just wanna clarify this for my strategy. Will the 2nd lizard go after the first person to attack 1 of them?

I like how you bragged about how this was "so easy" for you, and berated my, given the knowledge we had, completely legitimate tactics--but failed to mention any details whatsoever about who you fought it with or how you beat it so easily.

I said "this is a pretty easy fight". Actually if you go there with 2 rangers with 2hrs up, and watever for third (pally, rdm.. even a third dmg dealer -another ranger?- to go faster provided at least one of the rangers has ninja sub), this is indeed a piece of cake and you probably set a record if you're the first ones to use this party setup (one dead lizard at the very beginning of the fight makes it particularly easy).
Now about me going there with a blm and whm and tanking both lizzies and using potions, this is obviously not the best job choices, but maybe we like challenge? Or more simply maybe I just wanted to have fun with two old friends from my small linkshell that were on rather than picking up random people (wouldn't do this for the crappy loot, nor for seting stupid records, I've been "uber" long enough along the past 5 years). Don't make silly assumptions.. X-potion is the only kind of hp potion worth using, and it's rather cheap (2k3 on my server). I knew I would need them with our party setup (wich meant me tanking both) and I was right. Now maybe for you it sounds like a lot of money, but then I pity you :).
I am not going to quit playing after over 5 years of hardcore MMORPG. I surely won't pretend being a vet of FFXI having started barely 2 months ago.

You need to brag about your f**ing ****** record. But you don't realize you did nothing.. Your record is crap, easy to do, and anyway FFXI in general is just very easy. If you want some challenge quit FFXI and wait for another game (maybe EQ2?). Or lvl a bst and find a way to do BCNM 40 solo. There I'd applaud. Me I'll keep having fun with friends in meanwhile. I lvled from 1 to 30 war in 10 days, then from 1 to 37 ranger in 2 weeks, to catch up with them. Now I relax (been 37 to 40 for 3 weeks while we wait for other friends). And I don't worry, I'll reach endgame soon enough, and explore all that this game has to offer. About who should get off the battlefield, if you're on Gilgamesh, we could have a little Conflict fun whenever you want, and that'll probably keep your mouth shut.

I would say for a real challenge instead of goi g to EQ2, or even staying with FFXI.... how about going outside? how about having a non-fictional friend? people who get worked up on these boards are just a wee bit too into these games.

Kalamainu, grey-skin lizard on the right, 1500-1600 hit points. Hits an elvaan ranger for 35-50 with crits at 70+, very fast. weapon skill fireball (50 dmg to all with barfire on).
Kilioa, golden-skin lizard on the left, 1320-1480 hps. Same as the other one for dmg and ws.
They hit fast and rather strong.
I tried this with rng/war, blm/whm, whm/blm yesterday. First attempt was messed up : Barrage for 365 + Eagle eye shot for 440 + regular hit for 91 + blm using 3 spells for 150 each and I dropped down while whm was trying to cast dia.
Second attempt : without 2hr up except blms Manafont, but with whm healing very early (from the start actually, with ranger as tank, aggro isn't a problem). Opened with barrage on Kilioa, then voke on Kalaimanu, then a regular shot, then X-potion, more shooting and blm nuking, second X-potion, third X-potion -> Kilioa dead, blm MP 0, whm MP 10%. Then tanking the second one and taking it down slowly, with blm on manafont, we eventualy died with the mob at 1% hps (and whm had burnt his bene earlier and had no ether..).
Will do it a third time tonight with 2hrs up, this time it should be easy (with these jobs what matters most is obviously to take one of them down as fast as possible, hence starting with Kilioa is better). With this configuration I don't think ninja sub would have helped much.
I guess with 2 dmg dealers able to tank
(drk, mnk, drg instead of blm, both of them taking down the same one of course, but with the other one voked) this would be pretty easier even without the 2hrs up. Of course with 2 rangers and a whm this would be a piece of cake.
In both fights, none of the lizards ever tried using petrification... so I can't confirm anything about this point. They didn 't use poison nor any other ailment.
So pretty easy fight with some damaging 2hrs up. Rather tough without 2hrs but can be done with appropriate jobs. If using a pally to tank both lizards, have him use his 2hr at the beginning of the fight of course. With a ninja, share the tanking and fight the one the ninja is blink tanking.
Last thing : we didn't try sleep, but they also resisted any of the blm debuffs.(paralyze/blind..). So don't bother..
Edit : actually slow sticks well, blind too.
As a last note, the NPC for the Sky Orb is Shami, like for all the other orbs. It's indeed near the canopy covered stairs, but in Port Jeuno.

Tried this today, WHM PLD BRD, we got owned on a flagpole.
With spirited etude and a white drop, thats +20 CHR I had. And I used soul voice. And they STILL wouldnt go to sleep.

2.We go and attack and i (the monk) take the stronger one cause i have better armor im doing pretty well in not dieing.
3.The DRG dies on the weaker one! I live, being the superior galka monk(cause of armor) still at more then half hp.

when i did it paoa, I used my 2hr, and i was with a DRG and a PLD and they both used their 2hr.. so as far as i know 2hr's can (and should be) used

i did this a few days ago, (PLD, DRG, WHM).. the 2 lizards hit kinda hard and have a ton of HP.. but we did it. We all used 2hr, and the PLD died.. but at least we got through it.. (thanks to the 1 liz left targeting the drake at the end lol)

Don't even think about entering this without bringing potions. You only get three people in your group to face two lizards. We went in there thinking we could go in with 5. Needless to say our group ended up being blm, war, rdm. Sleep didn't work and bind worked for maybe 2 seconds tops. I dropped 540 damage on one lizard before I died and the lizard was about half health. And that was with the other guys doing melee damage. The only bright side is that I didn't lose the orb when we lost, just exp.

Actually you don't need potions at all if both your melees sub NIN and bounce aggro back and forth while the other puts Utsusemi back up. 2-3 seconds of bind per cast is all your mage needs to keep the weaker lizard kited and aggro focused on him.
Also, you might still have the orb in your inventory if you lose, but you can't use it again. It breaks as soon as it is used to enter the battlefield.
This battlefield is unique in that you can watch the fight going on inside by standing to the left of the hut door and looking over the fence there. You might want to be a spectator for a few of these and refine your tactics before wasting your seals.
