Battle Notes

To begin, trade 30 Beastmen Seals to Shami at (H-8) in Port Jeuno in order to obtain the Rare/Ex item Sky Orb. Upon receiving the orb, make your way to the Waughroon Shrine zone located in the Palborough Mines dungeon.

Be advised that only three players can enter the battlefield, that their levels will be capped at level 30, and that there is a 15 minute time limit that starts the moment the orb trader enters the battlefield.

Upon entering the battlefield, you will find three birds, two pink colored birds named Neman and one brown colored bird named Macha.

  • In addition to normal Bird tp moves, Macha is also capable of casting Sleepga and Dispelga.

In order to spawn the armoury crate, all mobs in the battlefield must be defeated within the allotted time.

Strategies

Beastmaster Solo Setup

A common strategy and the one most often used is having one Beastmaster with his two-hour Familiar ready for use. A high amount of Charisma boosting gear as well as some poison potions available to protect against Sleepga.

Upon entering the battlefield, buff up and charm one of the Neman's, then use Familiar and have it begin to attack Macha while staying out of spell range as best you can (you won't be meleeing Macha while using Neman pets). When Macha defeats the charmed Neman, charm the other Neman and have it attack Macha, again remaining out of its spell range. Once Macha has defeated that Neman, call out a jug pet and defeat defeat it.

Summonerx3 Setup

This strategy involves three summoners with their Astral Flow two-hour abilities ready for use. This will also require the Shiva avatar, a Yagudo Drink per summoner, and a few mp restoration items ( Ether, Hi-Ether, etc.) per summoner.

Upon entering the battlefield, buff up and then summon Shiva. After they are summoned, run up to the top of the rampway (making sure to stay outside of aggro range) and activate Astral Flow, then use the Yagudo Drinks. Send the Shivas at Macha and, as soon as they strike it, run towards them (so that the hate gained from performing a bloodpact doesn't draw Macha too far from the Shivas, resulting in failed bloodpacts) and use Diamond Dust. With three Diamond Dusts, the two Nemans should be dead and the Macha should have very low hp, so at this time use the Ethers that were brought. You can either allow the Shivas to just melee Macha to death or, when the recast timers have reset, use another Diamond Dust to finish it off.

This is a fun BCNM if your bst has good chr.

rdm/nin(me)
bst/whm
smn/blm

Fight:
WE enter in and I Protect II all of us, the smn casts Garuda and Aerial Armor, we heal up and rush in, the bst charming the left Neman, on average 2-3 try, sticking it on the other neman, while the smn casts Shiva onto Macha.
When one of the nemans die, the bst either charms the enemy one, or sticks his already charmed on on the Macha, the smn releases shiva, once the charmed neman dies, the smn casts any summon, as the bst calls on his familiar, usually the Crab Familiar, so me, smn, bst, crab, and the summon all tank the macha, me usually healing whoever gets low.

We're 3/5 all drops
Wizard Earring
Magic Finale
Elm Log
Hi-Ether
Rest Junk....

Since everyone likes to post their experiences on this, I'll do the same.

My LS had never really done a BCNM before and we decided to do one tonight. On a whim and we decided to do this one. We looked for members willing to do it and ended up with a party configuration like this:

Wray - BST/WHM
Daryus - RDM/WHM
Binto - SMN/WHM (me)

At initial glance it might be shocking to see we didn't have a tank, but we figured we had plenty of healing power plus the beastmasters charm. RDM used pie and orange juice, bst used some caviar stuff (forgot the name) and I used a yagudo drink.
Prior to the battle I buffed with protectra, baraera and aerial armor while the rdm/whm buffed with barsleepra (on the last battle, which we were successful).

First attempt: charm fails a few times, when it finally did I had hate from overcuring. The RDM sleep wasn't sticking that well either. A minute or two into it one of the nemans is dead and both birds come for me. I go down, bst charms one of the nemans and sets it on the main bird. Main bird sleeps the neman and heads for the bst and rdm who were both low on hp and mp. Death. We underestimated the birds and were a little cocky coming in so we died.

Second attempt: Honestly I don't know what went wrong with this one. Stuff went sour as soon as it started. Death again.

Third attempt: I think we finally got it down, it was like clockwork. Start off with rdm trying to sleep the left one (sleep failed the first shot but succeeded the second shot), I had shiva attack and practically tank the macha the whole battle while the bst charmed the right neman and set it on the left neman (sleep was there just in case the charm failed a lot). The bst and rdm also melee'd the macha. One neman dies, macha is at about 1/2 life. Bst charms the other neman, sets it on the macha and i unsummon shiva so the neman can get hate. Second neman dies, macha has about 1/10th life left and we just go to town on it. We finally won! Got a Sarashi drop too.

Our overall strategy the LAST time was keep the Macha distracted with an avatar and have the nemans kill eachother. The first two times the macha wasnt distracted and was able to do dispelga, sleep and some rather damaging attacks against the party, but with shiva tanking (being strong against wind and ice) the Macha wasnt doing a lot of damage to her.

It was a frustrating (at first) but overall fun and exciting first BCNM experience for my LS.

Cheers!

We just ran this 3 times on Bismark with this setup: bst/war(me, Breslin), blm/whm(Tigresss) whm/blm(Zooejlfsa).

And three more times, with Fortytwo, blm/rdm replacing the whm/blm, and it still went fine except for the second one in which we missed the charm twice and died. Ended up with Avatar Belt the first time and crap the third. Still a nice 410k, though. Set a new record too, something like 4:23.

Our Plan

Bought an orb, prolly gonna try this one, we want to give this a shot for a new experience and hopefully, yeah, a little $$$.

We've got a few options for a party setup in the ls, sadly none are optimal, but the one we're gonna give a try is:

Monk/Warrior
Samuari/???
Black Mage/White Mage

Now, this scares me because we have no real main healer, that and we're totally counting on at least one sleep to succeed.

Now I'm being very optomistic, but none of us really have much BCNM experience, so I wanna seek any opinions I can get before we try.

I'd like for us to go in, have the BLM use Elemental Seal and sleep one of the birds, and then try to sleep the other smaller bird. I (the monk) will rush the middle one with 100 fists and hopefully, if the two other birds successfully fall asleep, the SAM will join me to speed it up while the blm heals. The proceed to dispense of the mobs one by one, hopefully being able to sc and mb one of the smaller birds with the SAM two hour.

So I'd like to throw out a few questions to those who have done it.

What should the SAM sub? He wants to sub THF to use SA, but maybe WAR or WHM would be better.

Should I consider subbing NIN instead of WAR? It may have hate control problems, but I can use Utsusemi to cover myself whent he BLM is healing the SAM.

What are the chances that both sleeps will succeed?

How hard does the middle bird hit, other than a few potions, do you think I'll be able to 100 fist it with little healing attention and kill it before it kills me?

I'm a total newb to BCNM, and no healer + no real tank seems to be like trouble in the first place, but the SAM and I are both doing this to save up for our Kote and we need something to sleep the other birds, not conveniently having many BRDs or any BSTs on our ls group. So we wanna give this a shot.

Input is welcome. I'll post our results whenever we get around to it.

We just ran this 3 times on Bismark with this setup: bst/war(me, Breslin), blm/whm(Tigresss) whm/blm(Zooejlfsa).

The first time I hit the wrong macro and popped out a familiar instead of charming, and all was lost.

The second time I charmed the Neman on the left, sent it after the other Neman, and we all ganged on the Macha. I just tried to keep hate as much as I could while mages did their thing. My charmed Neman finished off the other one and I had everyone stop fighting so it could pull hate off the Macha and get killed. Then I pulled out a tiger to help finish off the Macha. We got the clear time for Bismark - 6:14

Third time went same as the 2nd, except we didn't dawdle around this time and we took 'em down in 4:47.

We got Trimmer's Earrings the 2nd time and Sarashi (!) the 3rd. Will definitely do this again since it was so easy and the drops were great.

Our pt set up is pld/war, mnk/war, rdm/sum. The pld runs in and banish's the left bird and then vokes the right one while hitting the middle. Once he has all there hate he hits invincible, that que's the mnk to hit berserk and hundred fist and he kills the 2 pink ones. Once both of there 2 hours are done it's just the middle bird left with more than 25% of his life gone. We just pick him off from there. He does alot less damage than the other 2. He hits for 23-40 while they hit for 40-80.

we did this wit a mnk/war brd/whm whm/blm

First off the battle the mnk used hundred fists, killed the middle bird (which was the hardest) in about 1-2min. While he was fighting, brd just kept sleep on the birds. then run to the other side, when they wake, he sleeps again. He nvr really got hit. And the whm just healed the mnk when needed. It was very easy

We got the Sarashi!!! thats all we got actually...lol
won it

29 RDM/14SMN
30 BST/15WHM
30 BLM/15WHM
all tarutaru

BST charms one of the Neman, and right after that the BLM Elemental seal + Sleeps the other while the charmed neman goes after the Macha. RDM heals and enfeebles, and BLM nukes away. We beat the Garuda record on our 2nd try. As long as the charm and sleep stick, its no sweat.
are the details wrong on here?

28 BST/WHM 30 WAR/NIN 30 RNG/NIN

there were 2x neman and one macha. i charmed the neman first try and used 2 hour and set my pet against the macha.
the ranger used barrage and eagle eye shot on the other neman and the warrior mighty strikes and killed it with 60% health left(without any cures from the bst ^^)
my pet neman took most of the macha's health easy so i heel/stay so it got killed off and we finished off the macha.
Dominated ^^

drops were healers earring and trimmers earring (combined 50k on phoenix) horn quiver, bird feather...

so.. is the ayakashi the hard one? did they change this fight? is allakhazam wrong? (not likely because no one has mentioned it before)

edit: i should mention i have CHR 34+10

We did this with THF/NIN, BST/WHM, and MNK/WHM. We got smashed. BST couldn't charm any of the birds, and the main one was hitting us for 70-80 per shot. Died in about 30 seconds.

Hey, will a RDM, WHM, and Monk be able to do this? I was thinking that the RDM could sleep at least one of the birds and then so forth.
Summoner pwns

My party setup that I know could work:

Pld
rdm
smn

The summoner two hour could take out both of the small ones in one shot and the main one would be left to beat on and the pld hold aggro.

Thats right we do ^^ I did this with some friends to try to get an avatar belt. (I like to sub smn to my RDM but free carbi isn't worth the 200~500k the belt is going for.

PLD
WHM or RDM could easily work
SMN (me)

This is how the first one went:
It took us about 5 mins to complete, whm had to buff with protect/shell/stoneskin and rest to full. I arial armored, and waited for whm, hehe mp doesn't matter in this one. Basically treat it as an avatar battle. If your going for several consecutive runs this won't work, but for friends casually trying to help another friend when we get bored, it's great.

When WHM is ready run into the circle. Let pally get some hate while you drink a yag juice. Having auto refresh will keep avatar from poofing but I like to play it a little safe. I used Shiva because birds are weak to ice. Send Shiva to the birds, hit astral flow macro, then hit Diamond Dust macro. I actually used the same macro set I had for my avatar battles, just changed Carbi to Shiva and Searing Light to Diamond Dust. Drink an Either, I brought a few Hi-Potions just in case, never needed to use them though. When timer's up rinse and repeat.

The first Astral Flow took a good chunk off the first bird, and near killed the other 2. The second AF killed 2 birds and left the other at about 1/4. The last AF was kinda over kill but why not, between Shiva and the pally pounding on him for that last minute he only had a sliver of life left.

Our winnings were.... Junk ;;
Elm Log
Scorpion Quiver
1000g
Bird Feather >.<

Oh well, we'll get my belt one of these days.

THF/WAR (me), RDM/WHM, BLM/RDM

I've never died so fast anywhere in the game.

One of the birds has dispelaga.

The best I can say is, sleep two if possible, and fight them one at a time.

I've got two RDM friends on my LS who I offered to help beat this BCNM with. My main is a Paladin, also have a Warrior, my subs aren't high enough for BCNM. What are your thoughts on this setup? I was considering having one RDM sub WHM and the other sub BLM while I went in as a WAR/NIN either duel-weilding or going Gaxe with Utsutsemi: Ichi. Thoughts?
too easy

Did it with a PLD and a BST and myself,WHM. bst charmed one of the weaker birds... had it attack main bird... and pld fought main bird while bst fought the remaining weaker bird... keep all aggro off me. able to cure them whenever needed. extremely easy. dropped bird feather, elm log, mythril ore and horn quiver. /sigh we're gonna do it again right now.. hope we get better stuff..like dispel.

I did this one with 2 Bst/Whm and a WHM. we were all 30 and it was the easiest thing i ever did. Tame had no effect, but charms landed on the first and second try. It was so easy i went back to jeuno and got another orb. got Dispel with the second orb. There was no need to use 2hr, as charm lasted longer than the main bird. Good luck with this.

we tried this a week or 2 ago with rdm (me),a drk and a rng. We got smashed. I used all my buffs on everyone before hand then used juice and we went in when i was full again. I tried to sleep the Black one but it got resisted, i was killed shortly after. All my spells got inturrupted and i couldnt heal myself or anyone else. The rng took out one by herself but they both died fairly quick with me dead. I was subbing nin so i could use 2 Yew wand +1 hoping for better stick rate. I guess subbing blm would be the more popular choice for elemental seal but i only have it to 9 so i couldnt sub it. Gonna try it again sometime after we get a better plan together. BTW plan was for me to sleep the black one, the rng would use barrage/eagle eye and take out one of the others and help the drk with the 3rd one after. Oh well maybe next time...

Should have brought potions! RNG - PLD - BLM we Totally F'd up only slept one bird and got owned by other 3. I was thinking simular Setup with maybe a BRD and BLM with RNG as tank with potions. PLD seem out of the question no damage and can only take one agro. /item "Potion" <me> would probably make due
<Death> <Do you need it?>

I had that same party configuration for the one in giddeus and we didn't get owned, but we ran out of time. In my opinion you should keep the whm and rdm and switch the pld for a drk or rng, but make sure the rdm subs blm for sleepiness.
Has anyone done this?

Me and two LS friends are thinking about trying this BCNM. If anyone has done this yet please post any info you have about the mobs. The pt would be RDM, WHM, and PLD. Any spells the mobs use or resistances they have to enfeebles would be great. Thanks

You'll get your butt kicked with that party, I think.. You need some damage in place of that WHM. Between the PLD and RDM you'll have healing covered (especially if the RDM subs WHM). Trade the WHM for a RNG and I think you'll have a chance.

Edit: This is based on my experiance with the BCNM in Giddious with a similar party... we didn't have enough damage dealers and just got wore down and eventually died.
