Battle NotesIn order to enter the battlefield you will need to bring a Sky Orb, which is obtained by trading 30 Beastmen's Seals to Shami at (H-8) in Port Jeuno. When you are ready, trade the Sky Orb to the Burning Circle inside Horlais Peak and choose to enter the battle Carapace Combatants. Up to 3 people may enter and you will all receive a level 30 restriction. You have 15 minutes to win. You will fight two beetles: Bisan & Pilwiz. Pilwiz is a Black Mage beetle that likes to cast Stonega II. Bisan on the other hand is a fairly ordinary beetle. First time we tried this, we got wasted... pt setup was:
pld/war, blm/whm (me), drg/thf
Go in...
Pld prot II's everyone, rests to full.
Blm uses pumpkin pie, rests to full.
Blm casts barstonra.
Blm runs in, ele seal + sleep BISAN (the physical one), lands succesfully.
Pld vokes PILWIZ (mage), drg and pld start whompin' on it.
The problem came in when I tried debuffing it. If I had just all out nuked it, it prob would've died before BISAN woke up.
Bisan wakes up, comes after me (blm).
Pld sees it, although a little late, vokes.
Pld in the red, I was mid-curing myself, Pld dies.
Pilwiz and Bisan both come after me (blm).
Everyone dies X.X
About to try it again... I'll edit this with results.

Pretty much same method, Pilwiz woke up, died again.
Trial 3
Came very close to beating it this time.
Same as before, buffed up.
Came in, ele seal and sleep PILWIZ.
I hit BISAN with rasp, it sticks.
Pld pulls Bisan out of circle, into dirt path.
Drg and Pld start whomping on it, I nuke a bit, cure pld.
Pilwiz wakes up, comes out. I try to sleep, fail. I bind it, but by the time I bind it, it's right next to us and just spams stonega II.
Bisan is almost dead. Pld goes after Pilwiz. Drg stays on Bisan, dies after I cure her once.
I hit Bisan with thunder, Bisan is now coming after me. I hit Bisan with blizzard, he has like **1** hp left (his bar is at a sliver); he hits me, I fall.
Bisan comes back and finishes pld off with pilwiz.

What I'd have done differently:
-Cast dia or bio at the beginning of the fight in case something like that came up.
-If your sleep fails the 2nd time, and bind sticks, make sure other 2 members know to get away from Pilwiz so you're out of range of stonega II.
-Do whatever you can so blm can concentrate on nuking more than curing.
-Pld keep an eye on everyone's health and heal to keep hate (esp if blm starts getting hate, which he/she will).

I've posted this on Pilwiz site and now I post it here. I was doin this BCNM with 2 off my LS friends. We had DRG/WAR WAR/MNK (me) and a BLM/WHM. We got pwned.... 15 secs and we died =/ He casted Stonega II like 3 times... We had no chance XD I was the last stand up man ;D This must be a record :P

Setup:
WAR/NIN with polearm and bolts <--
RNG/NIN
BLM/WHM
Reason: Beetle is weak against piercing attacks. Arrow, bolts, polearm is the best way to go. Pilwiz love stonega II... I put shadow on, and it's gone the next sec thanks to that AoE spell.
1st time was a bust because Stonega II went thru barstone for the mage. As soon as mage dropped, Bisan woke up and decide to have the rng and me for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
2nd time was great. Mage kept her distance. Voke the sleeping Bisan. Unloaded holy bolts with defender on. Easy win (record time)
3rd time - mage was too close. Stonega II for 250+ dmg. Mage is dead. Bust 2 hr on Pilwiz, he dropped. Bisan woke up and was gunning after us. Sleep bolt didn't slept it long enough to heal but just enough for utsusemi to be casted. I died after 6 shadows (had only 21 hp after killing Pilwiz - and running out of medicine since it's our third fight) Rng won it with bloody bolts.
Drops from both times are complete crap: Warlock Earring (10k), Song Belt (10k), Silver Ore (400), The jug for Panzer Galahad (18k), Absorb-VIT (1.5k)
so about 10k each...

I did it twice with my buddies last night, failed both time. Here is the pt setup: RNG/NIN, BLM/WHM, WAR/NIN. The first time it was disater because we forgot barstonera. Second time we have barstonra on, slept the mage, and killed the other beetle with ease. However barstonra went off, then we all got killed by two consecutive stonega IIs. Here is the difference:
with barstone: stonega II did 80 damage on me
without barstone: stonega II did 340 damage on me
we managed to get the mage beetle to 1/3 health. gonna try it again today, i believe we will beat it if we can keep barstonra on all the time

Can you charm either of the beetles?
I'm thinking a Bst/Nin could if you can charm a beetle for a period of time. Then when your charmed beetle dies, you switch to a jug pet.

We tried this one with a rdm/whm, mnk,war, and myself (rdm/blm)... It was pretty easy... The easiest thing to do is bring a lot of ethers for the mages and make sure you have one standing back to debuff and cure.... We slept Bison first and took on the hardest one... We had our monk bust out his 2 hour and by the time Pillze was dead Bison was awake and pissed.... When we had Bison down to half we we're getting all sorts of hate... We poped ethers and yag drinks and rushed into battle... The monk died but the other red mage and I made it out with less than 100hp... Good luck with this one... We're going back because we need our Magicians Earrings...

Hey, I am about to tick 30 and am looking to take these Beetles on.
Do you think a BLM/WHM, RDM/BLM, and NIN/WAR could handle this one?

Just did this BCNM last night on Pandemonium with this setup:
PLD/WAR
BLM/WHM
RNG/NIN (me)
We were 2 for 3 (the first run being a disaster)
Pre-battle in the BC we had the PLD use Protect II and Shell on us while the BLM/WHM used Barstonra.
Our working strategy was to Elemental Seal+Sleep Pilwiz and drop Bisan. I used Holy Bolts on Bisan until my Utsusemi shadows were wasted then I switched to Bloody Bolts for the remainder of the battle while PLD tanked the battle target and BLM/WHM healed the tank and used Water II on the beetle.
2nd battle I was the only survivor but the 3rd battle (after we'd solidified our strategy) we all lived through til the end.
Spoils from the first battle won were pretty good
Magician's Earring (450k currently)
Scarlet Sap (BST Pet Panzer Galahad, 10k)
Misc. Junk (Beetle Shell, Beetle Jaw)
2nd battle we won was crap:
Staff Belt (10k)

Won this battle today with my LS mates...

As soon as we enter, RDM casts Protect 2 and Shell on us. WAR downs a mithkabob, RDM and I both use a pie. After we're all good and rested, I cast Barstonra and WAR leads us into battle. Right away both beetles go for the first guy in range(WAR). WAR voked Pilwiz, while RDM casts Elemental Seal + Sleep on Bisan. WAR 2 hour'd on Pilwiz, and he didn't seem to lose hate for the rest of the fight, even with the RDM and I spamming cure 2's and nukes. We all stayed in range of the Stonega2 attack. I don't remember how much damage the stone spell was doing, but with the both mages curing, I only saw the WAR's hp go into the red once. About midway into Pilwiz's beating, Bisan woke up and went for the RDM, and I casts Elemental Seal + Sleep on Bisan again. After Pilwiz died, we were able to rest about 1 tick until Bisan woke up again, but it was pretty much smooth sailing from there. I ran out of mp, and used Manafont to throw out another Cure2 and some nukes. Bisan was almost dead, so we probably could have managed without my 2 hour, but I panicked :). The RDM and I both used a Juice during the battle, and I used a Hi-Ether also. The drop was pretty bad, but it was our first time doing this BCNM, so a good time was had by all.

Well... I was considering, if I ever need to take my Nin past lvl 30, I'm going to need Utsusemi: Ni... so just wondering... could a Nin/War fit in that mix?
I should also ask: Where is Holaris Peak? :x
did this wit my frends y/d PLD/WAR, SAM/WAR, n BLM/WHM (me)~ took them out quite easily and even got the new record at 5min 6secs on Lakshmi =) however the drops were horrrrrrrible.... 1 mythril ingot, beetle shell, Magic Finale scroll, and Esquire's earring.... netting about 25k for a 8k split... -_-" soooo not worth itt lol
When I am helping with AF's coffers etc i use blm sub. I do this to have escape/tractor and warp.
When im doing HNM or partying I use SMN for the auto refresh/max mp boost and party status effects from avators. I dont need any of the other because i have a BLM in my exp party and multiple blms in HNM partys.
I think pre HNM's the option is really which one u prefer. But when you do get to hnm battles especially endurance ones that auto refresh and max mp will help alot.

I figure pld tanks one, rdm elemental seal+sleeps the other, war SA's then when at 100%tp does SA sturmwind, then repeat(except for elem seal naturally cus of 10 min timer)

I am thinking of trying this out with a team of BST, BLM, WHM. See if we can charm the Bison and send it against Pilwaz until one of them are dead, then the BST will yank out a tiger jug and send it against the remaining beetle while he beats away and the BLM nukes. Has anyone tried charming in this BCNM? Any inputs/suggestions would be great. Also, does this battle last 30 minutes or 15 minutes?

15 minutes. And for the charm thing...I don't know if it works, but if it doesnt, just get your blm to sleep the warrior beetle, pop a jug pet, go after the mage beetle with both you and the jug. Keep barstonra up at all time. As soon as the warrior beetle wakes up, send pets after it, you and BLM finish off the mage, then switch to the warrior. Piece of cake.
Just something to note: Do NOT Forget Barstonra on this fight. Did this 2/3 with some friends. Group was a Pld/War, Drk/War, and Blm/Whm(me). We died the first time because I cast Barstonra before sitting for MP and it ran before the fight even started. Forgot to refresh it. Stonega II did about 250-300 damage to everyone per hit. Remembered the second and third time, Stonega II hit the Drk for over 200 once, everyone other time was about 30-60 damage per hit. Made a huge difference @.@

Did this over the weekend and of the items listed thus far we also get the drops of a Steel Ingot, Scroll of Absorb-VIT, an Elm Log, and Scroll of Dispel.
Everything else we got when we did it has been posted already.

We just did this thing 5 times.My party used 2 blm/whm and a rdm/war.It was fairly easy.I was one of the blms, rdm casted pro2 and shell on us and we rested full.
I cast barstonra then mages use yugoto drinks.I cast elemental seal sleep on Bisan,rdm vokes,2 blms start nuking,everyone spamming cure2.
Bisan wakes up when Pilwiz is more than half dead.The other blm elemental seal sleep we finish off pilwiz,and with bisan still sleeping heal to allmost full,and finish him off.
out of the 5 times we beat it 2 times drops were great.The first time we got scroll of Utsusemi;Ni,I think third fight we got Genin earring.Then the rest i dont remember which battle but we got fire 2,wyvern earrings,couple of absorb spells(the cheeper ones)darksteel ores....

Started buffing up with me using Barstonra, Shellra and Protectra while we ate our food.
Ran in to the beetles, and at the same time as Sanguine used 2h Hundred fists, Darious used Elemental Seal + Sleep on Bisan.
Bisan slept, Pilwiz dead in about a min, as I used Regen on everyone just to make sure they wouldnt die. Bisan died in like 30 seconds.
The record before we entrered was 5:36 and now its 3:57 ^_^
Jobs: WHM/BLM, BLM/WHM, MNK/WAR.
Food: Mages - Yagudo Drinks and Ginger Cookies. Mnk - Chief Mithkabob.
Tip: 100 fists works extremely good at these Beetles. Remember to sleep Bisan and always kill Pilwiz first, he´s the one doing the damage.

Think a PLD/WAR, RNG/WAR, WHM/BLM can take this? and if so, how? thanks.
Anyone think that sleep bolts would work on the fighter beetle? Similar strat to Crawling Doom when fighting Bitoso, but instead have a thf or rng keep the fighter beetle asleep while the other 2 pt members, maybe pld and drk, take out the mage beetle.
if a mage or bard was able to sleep it with magic, why not spam sleep bolts? My iinitial thought is that you can spam the bolts and not worry about a recast timer. Opinions?
