Did this BCNM 18 times so far and I am 15/18 (not all my orbs ;_;).

I only go with one pt setup and it pwns everytime:
PLD
NIN
RDM(me)
BRD
WHM
Any Melee DD

Enter the BC and buff up. When ready NIN runs in and gets hate followed by the BRD who lullabies. NIN goes after the RNG Giga, the WAR and MNK are slept and RDM ES-> Gravity the BST, nuke it a couple times to build hate and kite it down the tunnel. BRD runs around and continues to lullaby all the gigas that arent being fought and WHM focuses only on keeping the BRD alive. It's the PLD's job to heal the 3 melee while the RDM is still kiting the BST.

When RNG is dead the PLD provokes and tanks the BST Giga. At about 50% the BST charms the PLD, and NIN takes back over tanking and will for the rest of the battle. RDM Sleep II + Dark Staff the PLD. RDM then takes over healing the NIN and DD while the BRD and WHM keep the other 2 gigas asleep. When BST dies the PLD will uncharm. Then take on the WAR Giga. When it 2hrs you can either sleep it or Gravity it and {Run Away!} but with NIN tank it shouldnt hit much anywayz. After WAR is dead do the same thing to the MNK and you win!

Did this last night went 5/6
Setup was Mnk War Pal whm blm brd. Preety damn easy but sleepga II wasnt sticking for @#%#. And its best to have the blm and brd run in the room and sleep em, not stay in the tunnel <.< I guess the trick really is to kill the BST > Rng. After that you can pick and choose which to kill next. Mighty Strikes is too weak, we found that the Gigas is too slow with it ( cast gravity on it) Hundred fist from the gigas monk is tough though, so sleep it and rest up for like 1~2 mins. Did this on lightsday i think, mighta been why sleep didnt stick =\
Good drops though everyone made about 2milish.
Nice Seal-to-Gil Ratio

Went 6/6 as NIN WAR WAR BLM WHM BRD (me). Only one person in our group had done this BC before, which goes to show how quickly you will pick up the fundamentals. It is really easy, and kiting is not really necessary with this setup.

Upon entering and buffing, have your BLM ES+Sleepga II Moatfiller (you can’t miss him, he has got to be the ugliest gigas you’ve ever seen, and is larger and colored differently than the others). Although the big guy Moatfiller will likely resist sleep, the 3 other gigas shouldn’t, so have everyone focus on killing him first. BRD lullabys any early wakers, and can kite briefly if waiting on both lullaby recasts. The person with hate will get charmed, so if it is a strong DD melee, just sleep him/her until the BST is dead or charm wears.

We then killed the WAR, RNG, then MNK. Since the RNG’s EES can be deadly without shadows/blink up, RR pins/gorgets for everyone ensures safety and solidifies wins.

I highly suggest bringing a BRD, since they bring reliable utility. Unlike BLM spells, BRD songs are very difficult to interrupt, tough to resist, and the two lullabys are highly effective without reliance on lengthy recast job abilities like Elemental Seal. On one of our fights, our BLM d/ced just as he was about to Sleepga the mobs, so we were forced to do one orb with 5. It was a little messier, but we still managed to win handily, which is why reliable sleeping is so desirable.

Since your BRD will get hit, Tacos are a good idea especially for a Taru BRD. However, I was taking 80-100 a hit as a Hume in full AF + Terra’s staff and no defensive food, so it’s your choice.

An RSE glove will always drop, together with a scroll and other minor items. It would’ve been sweet if each member got the RSE glove appropriate to their race, but as is the case with most things, SE is evil that way. Our Galka WAR got the Hume gloves (4-5mil), while I got the Dune Bracers, the most uncommon, yet worst possible drop. At least the bracers and a scroll of Flare managed to net me 1.3 million. I was surprised the bracers sold so fast (they rarely sell on AH, probably because you don’t often see Galka BLMs running around Vana’diel) and the one listed before mine didn’t sell, so I guess I got lucky.

One prop that SE deserves is that you exit the BC relatively close to where you enter. So it only takes a few seconds to return to the BC area after each win, unlike the BCs in Palborough Mines, where you have a long ways to run back to the BC.

Good luck, this BC offers a respectable seal-to-gil ratio.

Hiya everyone! : )

My party jus obliviated this BCNM so I figured i'd come here to brag and also to let everyone know what we did. Only 1 person in our party had ever done this BCNM before. We had heard scawy rumors about how hard this BCNM was so we decided to take it on.

Our Setup

Pld
Pld
Rdm
Blm (me)
Brd
Sam

There isn't a real need at all for whm so don't feel intimidated to "have to find a whm." This is a capped BCNM so don't waste your time buffing before entering as it will all come off. Feel free to make use of those reraise gorgets and hairpins, R2 is a great asset : )

Strategy:

The Gigas should be taken out in this order:
Ranger (the middle Gigas of regular size)
BST (the huge f@cker)
Warrior (the gigas holding the Axe)
MNK (the only hoe left standing)

Upon entering, we of course buffed up with blink/stoneskin, protect III, and reraises. Once everyone got their mp healed back up, everyone gathers at the end of the tunnel. Blm Elemental Sealed then casts Sleepga II. More than likely (if not alwayz) The BST gigas (the biggest one) will not be slept. Immediately a pld comes in and vokes it off the blm and starts kiting it. The Rdm runs in and Gravities the kited Gigas.

The other three Gigas will be slept, so the other pld and the sam will jump on the middle gigas (rng) and start making work on him. If you go with this job setup, don't let your blm and rdm waste their time and mp trying to sleep the mobs, it's pointless as they will resist 9 times out of 10 unless you use ele seal. Obviously the brd will do his normal thing with ballads and melee songs. The brd will be the sleeper. Ensure you keep blink and stoneskin up as soon as they wear off. Blm should communicate with the kiting pld, stating he is about to stun it, so the pld can stop and cure himself.

Rdm will enfeeble the ranger gigas, blm will nuke it with aero III, enfeeble with choke (for the meleers) etc, and bard will keep the other to gigas slept. Rdm, bard, and blm should communicate well, telling eachother when they are casting things like gravity, bind, etc. Once the ranger gigas is dead, work the BST while keeping the other 2 slept with the bard.

During this time, we had ONLY the 2 pld's hitting the bst, while the sam just sat and waited. This is to ensure that when the BST uses 2 hour and charms, that we still have the samurai. Once one of the plds get charmed, sleep him immediately. The sam will now jump in and go to town on the mob. Blm will again cast choke, Aero III, Bio II. This next part is pure preference, but once the mob was at 60% life, I casted Tornado, then Flood, taking a wopping 2.5k damage and knockin his *** out fast. Once he is down, the cat's pretty much in the bag at this point.

Once the BST is dead, the charm will be removed so cure your slept pld to wake him up. At this point, have the brd keep the 2 gigas slept while everyone cures and heals mp to full. Blm should watch his ele seal timer at this point and notify the party when it is almost ready. The bard might start getting some resists on sleeps at this point so blm will stand up and ele seal sleepga II so everyone can continue resting. The blm's sleepga II will stack on the already slept gigas from the bards foe lullaby.

Once the party is ready, jump on the warrior and take him out. Same strategy as before: Pld's and sam go crazy on him, brd keeps the MNK slept, blm and rdm due their enfeebs and nukes. I again used Tornado and Aero III once at 60% to finish him fast. Once dead hop on the MNK. ONCE the mnk 2 hours, BLM should stun him, RDM gravity him, and BRD sleep him. Pld's will voke him and kite him if he resists the sleep. The BLM will start casting Tornado or Flood. By the time the Ancient Magic hits, his 2 hour will have worn off and more than likely the ancient magic will not be enough for blm to take hate. Finish him off with another ancient magic if you have the mp, or Aero III and drains.

We set the record like 3 times, only had one death which was at the beginning, and controlled the fight without much problem at all. Drops were great, 6 members got 4 mil+ worth of drops, I got my lovely Creek Mitts for taru male (im taru male so worked out perfectly) and since one of our plds only got like 900k, I gave him 1 mil gil of mine since I got a 6 mil drop. Everyone went home happy : )

Hope this strat helps. We had no probs at all and went very very smooth this way. Good luck : )

Its not as bad as people make it out to be. Went in with:
Rng
Rng
Brd
Rdm
Pld
Mnk

Our first try we lost because we didnt keep the mobs together well enough after the first sleep. It seems they will resist sleep somewhat. The key thing we did since the Brd was our only sleeper was gravity the mobs woke up early then have the bard kite and sleep them. We built up tp on the bst till he 2 houred then barraged and sluged. Also slug > raging fists is quite a nice renkei we found out. Good for around 300 renkei dmg.

Reguardless after that initial run things went smoothly and we broke the record twice in a row. One of the next 5 was kinda shaky since the bard got resisted too many times and died on mob 2 but we did what we had to and got him back up and finished without any more deaths.

I think fastest we did this was around 7 mins. No special items are required, just used normal foods.

Did this fight last night 3 times in succession, no deaths, and I got my Marine M Gloves on the 3rd attempt. (^^)v I was the only one who hadn't done it previously, but I picked it up pretty fast. Our party composition was thusly:
NIN/WAR: Tanks all but the MNK.
DRG/THF: Damage dealer, period.
PLD/WAR: Kites the BST giant around, tanks the MNK.
BLM/WHM: Sleepga II, then backup heal and Bind. Little nuking til the last mob.
RDM/BLM: Gravity, Bind, Elemental Seal + Sleep II, Refresh, backup healing.
SMN/WHM: Healer, period. If the RDM doesn't keep Refresh up on this one, smack him til he does.

This battle is very patterned, and everyone HAS to know their role beforehand. Make sure all possible characters keep up Stoneskin, Blink, what have you, as much as possible. The very, VERY first combat action should be the BLM casting Elemental Seal + Sleepga II on all four giants. SLEEP WILL ALMOST NEVER WORK WITHOUT ELEMENTAL SEAL, THIS IS IMPORTANT. The PLD then proceeds to Provoke the BST giant and kite it around the arena. The RDM immediately casts Gravity on the BST giant. The NIN and DRG take on the RNG giant first, as he does Eagle Eye Shot. Meanwhile, the RDM has to make sure to keep everyone refreshed as often as possible. The BLM and RDM then take up positions watching the remaining slept Giants. If they wake up, the RDM should Elemental Seal + Sleep II their giant, while the BLM Binds the other. The Giants are all VERY susceptable to Bind and Gravity, but they will build up resistance as the battle goes along.

This is the point wherein you can be broken. If the two remaining giants start resisting too much, or if the RNG giant oneshots someone, my reccomendation is to just run.

Anywho, Once the RNG giant is dead, the DD and tank will go for the PLD giant. This helps the BLM and RDM since now they only have to contain one giant. The PLD giant isn't really much to talk about, he's just a tough sucker. Keep the MNK giant Bound and Gravitied as much as possible, and the BST giant may need a Gravity reapplication by now.

Once said PLD giant is gone, the BST giant will be engaged. The flow changes here, as the BST giant's 2hr is to charm the person who has the most hate... in this case, the PLD. IMMEDIATELY sleep the PLD. This wasn't TOO much of an issue with our group, since the PLD was Earth Staff Tanking the BST giant the whole time (this is very effective, by the way), so he pretty much just whiffed the NIN til one of us slept him. Keep an eye on the MNK giant, otherwise you can focus a little more on helping your party out at this point. The BST giant falls fairly quickly, and your PLD becomes uncharmed the moment it dies. Be sure to Cure-wake him, as he's needed for the last giant.

The MNK giant, of course, has Hundred Fists. The PLD will tank it, since no NIN could keep up shadows enough to tank a MNK using Hundred Fists. Just keep him alive and wail on the MNK giant til it dies. Heck, at this point I started meleeing while tossing Cures and Refresh to the PLD.

And that's it! Grab your goodies and go do it again!

[EDIT] I'd like to make known that we did this fight with NO FOOD WHATSOEVER. It's not "easy" in the sense of "you can go in and goof off and still win" but easy in the sense of "as long as everyone plays well and does their job you'll win". Just keep in mind Bind and Gravity are PARAMOUNT in this fight, and Sleep ONLY works with Elemental Seal.

I'm not too sure on how charm works exactly, but it sounds to be a major problem in this BCNM. Would one solution be to have every member create a macro that simply removes every piece of their gear so when they become charmed, they hit their macro, strip down and become much more harmless (anyone other than MNK attacking you barefisted is not gonna be doing much dmg at all)

You could even take it a step further and have macros ready that equip things detrimental to your ability to destroy your own team (like -STR, maybe a gimp weapon of some kind, etc)

Me and my PT hit up this BCNM a few days ago. Our setup was NIN/WAR THF/NIN DRK/WAR RDM/BLM BLM/WHM and WHM/BLM. We tried 3 times and got our asses handed to us each time. This fight was TOUGH. To clarify, Erase cannot be casted on the charmed member (whoever has hate WILL be charmed when BST reaches 75% or less HP) because they are considered an enemey (BST pet). Dispel doesn't dispel charm because Dispel only removes positive effects off enemies, and charmed is a negative effect on that person. My PT tried using both. Your best bet imo is to have a sub tank keep hate until he charms him, then just sleep that sub tank and have the main tank take over. For my PT, though, the problem wasn't the charm. It was keeping the other Gigas asleep. Fat ******* (the BST) is immune to sleep, and the other 3 can be slept. Problem is, those 3 must have INCREDIBLE resistances to sleep. The only way we could land sleep was with Ele Seal + Sleepga II (BLM) and Ele Seal + Sleepga (RDM/BLM). Needless to say, the 3 little guys would always wake and pwn the BLM into oblivion because normal Sleepgas were always resisted. With the BLM down, they'd just go for the next PT member in line, and we just couldn't put them back to sleep. Both the BLM and RDM had Dark Staves, capped Enfeebling Magic, and +35-40-ish INT each. I want to try again with BRD and see if their Sleepga will stick. That's the key to the fight imo; keeping the little guys asleep.

Ok after trying this hopeing for the RSE worth 2mil on lakshmi our pt has decided what will work cause we died. our pt was SMN BLM RDM THF WAR NIN we opted for nin because of the mobs 2 hours are nasty the RNG normal ranged attack hit me for about 300+ ach time (im war/nin) dont wanna know what its 2 hour would do. Anyway problem we first had was nin getting charmed and killing blm because we sleep was eatin by utsu. So next round blm used sleepga 1 to eat shadows it worked but didnt stick sleepga 2 stuck on nin which was aswome I tanked the big *** bst gigas with no prob and i had 2 viking axes on (-20eva) worked great till other gigas woke raped blm before sleepga 2 timer renewed. So we died next time smn did some dum thing so we had BIG *** BST GIGAS in a tiny little hall..so when other gigas woke we couldnt see them to sleep in time before the came and raped blm again I was tanking with charmed nin. Over all we had enough dmg got the main gigas to 50% it 2hours at 75% health. Its possible with this or a similar set up however we think ditch RDM get 2nd BLM make sure the are ready to sleep those big mofos! also the fact that all melee had nin sub was nice on dmg end so WARS RNGS THFS are nice I think war/nin very helpful (not just because im war/nin) because once your main tank is charmed you need someone to take that hate and we all know how good war/nins are at emergency hate holding..if ya dont go pt with a good war. Any way I thought I would post info since little about how to do it is on here our recomended pt SMN or WHM BLM BLM NIN WAR RNG(or other melee). GOOD LUCK AND HOPE YOU ALL GET THE GOOD STUFF!

How many items drop at once? I was thinking of going with a few friends in hope of getting the Hume F gloves for my RDM (+4 int > AF ) because those damned gloves went from 500k (reasonable) to 900k on my server. We were going to keep the gloves that helped our respective races, and sell the rest for profit, but I was under the impression that 6 gloves dropped.. It's gonna suck so bad if we go and only Bracers drop >.< (100k tops.. not worth 60 seals)

On completion of this BCNM, you will receive:

One pair of RSE2 Gloves only
One lvl~60 scroll (Flare, Reraise II, Valor Minuet IV)
Assorted gems, crafting materials (darksteel ingot, mahogany log ... yadda yadda)
Often a medicine of some for (we saw Vile Elixir+1, hi-potion+3)
Seemingly quite rarely, a coloured chip for strange apparatus quest

Well, I gave up and raided my mog-house selling off a crap-load of gear to save up for the Hume F gloves. On the Kujata server they're going for 1mil now, though the history still shows them going consistantly for 400k.. On the upside, Ive got a lot more space in my mog, my Int had peaked at +35, and next level with a Philomath stole and Mythic wand +1 I'll have +40. Compared to spending 1mil on +1 Int moron earrings (which only give you 1 more Int than Cunning earrings) I entirely support these gloves; though probably only really useful for RDM. As for the other gloves? I'd say if you're a Mithra Paladin the gloves are going for 50-100k, though I dont know the Pld AF stats. Nice Vit bonus though. :)
happy hunting.

While this may be true, I don't think you would want everyone in the BC eating Garlic Crackers as opposed to regular stat-boosted food. Also, another poster made it seem easy enough to simply sleep the charmed party member until the effect wears off.
RE: Charm
# Aug 22 2005 at 12:43 PM Rating: Good
Actually when you think about it, this isn't too bad of an idea. Garlic crackers do not last long at all. Also of the people that I know that have done this, the BST is usually the first person they try to defeat (given it's resistance to sleep).

Have the tank(s) use crackers until the BST is dead and then switch to normal food. Sure you can sleep your teammate when he/she gets charmed...however the crackers will help charm wear off faster (if there's trouble taking out the BST gigas).

Here are the 4 mobs you fight in this:

- BST -Nephiyl Moatfiller - uses Charm and is difficult (if not impossible) to Sleep
- RNG - Nephiyl Pinnacletosser - uses Eagle Eye Shot
- WAR - Nephiyl Rampartbreacher - uses Mighty Strikes
- MNK - Nephiyl Keepcollapser - use Hundred Fists

The BST is the largest one, and is in the center. Since he is so difficult to sleep, kill him first. After that, I would recommend RNG, WAR, MNK. I am not sure as to the layout of the other Gigas when you enter.

For this BCNM, you need a BLM or BRD for Sleepga/Lullaby. If you have a BLM, make sure his/her Enfeebling Magic Skill is capped and that he/she has a Dark Staff (I certainly hope they would at this level).

If anyone else has information about this BCNM, even if it's just telling us your setup and the order you killed the mobs, it would be greatly appreciated. This seems to be one of the less common BCNMs to do (there are hardly ever any RSE2 gloves in stock on my server ; ;).

I then began attacking the DRK, lol. It was so funny we were laughing so much. We almost lost this. This happened before Balista so PLD vs DRK was huge deal. I hit him for 50+hits. ERASE doesn't take Charm off, but it will wear off eventually, like regular BST Charm. It just takes time... What you do is have the BLM sleep the one who is charmed. I slept the whole time utnil I was uncharmed. Even with PLD resist sleep, the BLM and BRD were able to keep me asleep.

On several occasions, the RDM and/or BLM casted Gravity on the Giants and ran them around while trying to sleep/gravity/debuff/sleep. There are lots of corridors to run around to. The BST takes forever to kill. The whole battle is about killing the BST FAST. After I got uncharmed, he had 40% life. I used 2hr so I had all hate and everyone went nuts with 2hr and nuking like mad. After that it was easy.

I can't remember the kill order... use common sense. Only 3 little giants after BST is down.

On our next attempt, we lost. We had no 2hr. The BST took too long to kill. Our sleeps got messed, and kiting method didn'tt work. Also I suggest everyone and there grandma have NIN sub for this, lol. It's so hard without 2hrs...

Good luck and gave fun!

I was gonna try this BCNM soon...Does this drop Erase, Utsusemi: Ni, or any other non-RSE drops? The other RSE2 BCNM shows that it drops loads of BCNM40 items in addition. Thanks!

The charmed person is still part of your party but you can attack him or sleep him.

When you get charmed you just lose control. It's just like fishing where you can't do anything except move the camera. You can't even expand the chatlog. The beastmaster giant will charm whoever has hate when he 2hrs,which is usually at 4/5ths hp, and then you'll attack whoever has hate after that until he dies and you go uncharmed.

I'm not sure about erase taking off charm but I doubt it would work. That just seems like it would be too easy :P
Charm party members??

I believe, not 100% certain, that the Dune Bracers for Galka are also dropped off of this BCNM. It just makes sense.

I tried...you cannot cast Erase on a charmed person, the same as you can't cast erase on the mob you are fighting.

What about dispel. I wonder if charm would count as a debuf or a buff.
