Note: To obtain this quest, you must have completed The Puppet Master - SMN AF1 and activated the quest Borghertz's Calling Hands.

Next, find a coffer. Coffer spawn points include I-7, I-10, J-11, H-8, G-8, G-7, G-10, G-9, E-8 and E-7. Be careful of doll mobs, which agro to magic. If you need to open a door to check inside a room, ry to hug a corner, which will make it more difficult for tonberries to see you.

Do you have to have the Evoker's Bracer quest started to do the coffer hunts? I have the WHM Hands quest open and the NPC wont give me the Bracer quest.... i really dont want to do healer's mitts ; ;

I tried to do do this last night with no map with my LS.
PLD (unknown level but he didn't get agro from anything. not 75)
WHM (60+)
SMN (me-55)

It took us a while to find the treasure and we finally found it, we got ONE room away and when we opened a doorwe got INSANE agro by tonberries. I should have ran for the treasure right away. I SHOULD HAVE RAN FOR IT! Instead, I tried to save the other two members of the party. We all died.

I was ONE room away ; ;. We couldn't reraise because the tonberries were on top of us the whole time. I suggest... bringing a party of players who can fight and kill all the tonberries. Going alone is likely to get you killed, but it is still possible.

Goodluck to everyone else :) It's a good looking artifact armor. I'm going to wear this instead of my Austere robe because it's FREE! :P hehe.

Stupid pops behind stupid doors that require ADDITIONAL stupid keys. Not to mention that tonberries will aggro you from the other side. And that they can aggro a lvl 75 char on the second door.
WTF I need to get three keys ? Oh, last one is the same needed for carby mitts.

You don't actually recieve a quest for the coffer pieces of AF. Only requirement is that you have completed AF1 and started AF2 in windy. All you need to do now is get your Keys then find the coffers.

If you're looking to kill 2 birds with one stone, go through the Den of Rancor entrance to Uggalepih Where you get the Uggalepih offering, Coffer Key + Prep for Carby mitts = Happy Summoners.

As for the chest, I found mine in the area where "Death from Above" spawns.

You get Quest items (in this case, AF) from any chest/coffer before you get map.

yep...got it about 2 weeks ago..PAIN to get...had a 70 friend come with me so he oculd open doors for me. was over a 3 day period...we each died twice. and a WHM that was there also died.

well, we were going to xp our 35 jobs, but had 30min till everyone was ready. so i asked my friend if he would go with me. we entered the coffer spawn point, looked in the room on the right, middle(secret) room, and the across from that with the Doll in it. was lucky. it was sitting on the left hand side...

crappy thing, i dont even wear it. i wear my Verm Cloak for more MP ><. i will rock this once i knock down the other 2 AFs i have left

good luck to all trying for this one. Invis is all you need. a 70+ would be nice to open doors for you also.

Got mine just now, and must I say, that post by Pyronn was so helpful, omg, that made the difference between this being hell and being really really easy. I got the coffer myself, and the key earlier yesterday. The coffer was in H-8 in the middle room there. There were two 74 and 75 THF's at the entrance to this floor camping that Crawler NM, and after I accidentally trained on them from agro, they took me around finding the chest and I got it and left happily after thanking them.

OMFG this coffer can be baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad news. I did it as smn 56, died 4 times lookin, went and did some uncapped BCNMs on annother job, came back 6 hours later. The first time I was there coffer was stuck in room with King Tonberry (if you know where that is no one without a high level wreckin crew and an Uggaleph Kep + Prelates Key is gettin back there alive to open it). When I returned I used frame clipping to my advantage to check the room again. This time I could target the king but no coffer so i knew it had moved. Used frame clipping to check a few more rooms when I noticed a 70+ RDM looking for coffer too. He paused by Temple Gaurdian, I checked 2 more spots, nothin. Came back and the RDM was givin the Gaurdian hell so I wait, Gaurdian Dies, I run though. /slap Manipulator on my way up the stairs. No coffer -.-. Check other spawn point PAYDIRT! Opened coffer without agro and warped out. RDM prolly hates me but he can get his map without getting agroed by everyone and thier mother in that place so please forgive me if your mad RDM dude!

My recommendations; pay off a lvl 70 or higher to walk around with you opening the doors [ or get a lvl 70 ls buddy to help ]. As a lvl 70 whm I pulled no aggro, but when I did the coffer as smn I had my 71 ls smn buddy help [ now he's lvl 73 :o ]. To save frustration and avoid deaths I encourage finding a whm - invis + port yhoat :D

link to coffer map: http://www.speakeasy.org/~sticks/ffxi/treasure/Fr_Temple_Of_Uggalepih.html
( mid-right hand side - click on Map-3‚Ö )

This floor is the one that has the Paintbrush room, and temple Guardian. [ it's on the 2nd floor ] Zone into The main temple entrance - Follow the straight path [ with a few bends ] until you reach a fork - go right. This will take you past a wooden gate & upstairs; it zones you back into the jungle. Stick left until you re-enter the temple [ this is the coffer floor ].

Hopefully this helps anyone looking for the coffer or soon-to-be.

Why do they hate us?
# Nov 15 2004 at 1:52 PM Rating: Decent
Just reading through here and having completed the vastly easier three AF1 summoner quests, I begin to wonder why it is SE hates us so much. I also begin to ponder how the Japanese did these quests in the first place. Who helped them to do it? Did beta testers help them out? Or even better, how did the beta testers do it?
A spawn tip
# Oct 17 2004 at 10:43 AM Rating: Default
It may take long a time... It took 8 hrs in fact... But my bf got the coffer SAFELY might I add, in YES, THE Temple of Uggalepih....

There is a coffer spawnpoint inside of a wall.... I believe its over by the Ugaleppih Door in there. You'd have to actually uninvis yourself to open the door, but no mobs spawn inside the small room where the chest would spawn... It may be a long wait (It took my bf's samurai over 8 hrs to do, but he got his af), but I'll take my safety over opening all doors, getting the Ugaleppih Key, etc.

I just found this coffer tonight after 3 days of searching and I must say it is HORRIBLE. Almost none of the spawns can be reached solo like most coffer hunts cause you must cancel invis to open doors and then tonberries aggro from all over. To find it the easiest way get a 70+ person to run around and open all the doors for you while you hide^^ Also if you want to check ALL of the spawns you will need a Uggalepih Key, and a Prelate Key, both of wich disappear after use. I thought the canal was tough but this was rediculous.

"This is a repeatable quest" Does that mean that
a person can get more then one of the evokers Doublet??????? If they can I dont know if thats far to the rest of the people who arent summoners

Mobs that drop the keys

Here's a list of mobs that drop Uggalepih Coffer Keys.

Temple Bee
Temple Guardian
Tonberry Maledictor
Tonberry Pursuer
Tonberry Stabber
Tonberry Dismayer
Hover Tank

From reading up on Samurai AF, finding this coffer is similar to finding a Garliage coffer. The mobs are extremely dangerous to fight (Tonberries in particular) and many of the coffer spawns are hidden behind locked doors that require special actions/items to open. Very difficult.
