HAVE YOU LOST YOUR LIGHTNING PENDULUM? NPC WON'T GIVE IT TO YOU? >CURE HERE<
I noticed some posters unable to get the item. Here is a cure.

I have been unable to receive the Lightning Pendulum after dropping it. I have talked to every NPC related to the quest. Koru-Moru says this in response when teling to him,

"Oh, it's you.
Accordily-cording to the staff at the Rhinostery, there's been an incident with one of their researcher-areenos.
It might be that Uran-Mafran's diddily-doing.
Hurry on over and see what's hap-happily-happened"

I spent forever looking for this "Uran-Mafran" only to discover he doesn't exist as a NPC I can click on. I just can't find him at all. This is when I go to Wiki and discover that the reason I can not receive a 2nd Lightning Pendulum is because I can't have prime avatar quest for Ramuh up @ the same time. It blocks the quest for AF Head completely. If you drop your Rare/ex item, MAKE SURE YOU DON'T HAVE RAMUH PRIME BATTLE QUEST UP. I have tested this theory and know 100% for a fact that the below is true to it's statement in ffxiwiki.

"The quest Trial by Lightning can interfere with this portion of the quest. You may be blocked from progress any further until you can defeat Ramuh Prime and clear Trial by Lightning."

solo as War/nin

Managed to solo Ogmios as War/nin. Much harder than I first anticipated. Took 3 tries before I finally beat him.

First two tries, I was in a semi haste (12%) and evasion (+22) setup but I found my shadow reacst to be always a few secs later than I needed it to be. On the third try, I went in with full haste setup (20%) and did well. The reduced recast timers from haste just managed to let me recast my shadows in time when they are taken away by his AOE.

Same stragety as always: Slept to 100TP. Berserk, warcry, retaliation, mighty strikes. Rampage + Icarus wing + Rampage. This took off only about 35% of his HP. By the time my mighty strikes wore, I only managed to bring him down to about 50% HP.

The rest of this battle is a real test of my timings. Being able to recast ichi without being interrupted and getting shadows up after a dispelga or silencga is the key. I barely made it with 20% haste and will probably failed again if I had anything lesser.

He has about 11k HP and by my sixth Rampage, he is dead. I used two hi-pots+3 in the process and have about 900+ HP left.

I must say I had a very enjoyable fight. Probably my best solo as a WAR.

my husband (Wingk) and i went and duo'd the gremlins :D
he went as nin67 and i was smn61, he killed the rdm one very easily while i kited the warrior gremlin... i nearly did it until he one shoted carby and i couldnt recast in time.. so i quickly called fenrir. That coulda worked but the gremlin stunned fenny and came for me = smn dead.
By this time Wing had killed the rdm one and continued to mess up the warrior one = both gremlins dead!
He said that paralyze sticks on them and really makes it easier, obviously a nice evasion set up works well ^^
Total time in there was 10mins, not bad ^.~
Good luck to all that try this without your 75rdm's :P

I was 75 SMN/WHM and my friend was 75 NIN/WAR. Buffed my nin friend with haste but he said he just didnt bother putting up shadows cuz the mob was so easy. The Thunder Gremlin is the RDM and the Lightning is the WAR. Never got in yellow hp. I used Garuda on then Thunder Gremlin, 2 houred to save mp (in case I need to heal my NIN friend), bped it with Predator Claw and that took it down 4/5th of its hp while my NIN friend tanked the Lightning Gremlin. After I killed my Thunder Gremlin, bp was up again and I bped the Lightning Gremlin and won. Took 4 minutes cuz I buffed stoneskin, blink, hastega and rested mp to full.

For Ogmios, I went as 75 SMN/WHM. Blink up and went in and used Carbuncle. and ran down to the crystal and waited to recast. Did this a few times, got riddled once so I lost 1k mp >< (I only needed to bp it with carby cuz I had too much hate from trying to dia it 2 times), and all and all used 2 echo drops and won the fight in 24 min 33 seconds.

Thunder Gremlin's attacks drains MP, Lightning Germlin's attacks drains TP.
Both are immune to Sleep and Silence.

Fought them as RDM75/PLD37, used Flash and Sheild Bash to interrupt their rage attacks. Kept Lightning Germlin binded while I fight Thunder Gremlin, used Chainspell at the beginning for Bind and Stoneskin recasts. Got 34 exp from each of them.

Fought Ogmios as RDM75/NIN37, nothing too noticeable. Silencega and Dispelga strips utsusemi, I forgot about that. If I have to do this again I would /BLU for Head Butts, or /DRK for higher damage output. I thought my Evisceration did poor damage on him because it only chipped off a small amount of his HP, but when I checked the log I found out all of my Eviscerations did 500+ damage... This thing has a ton of HP. Got 42 exp from him.

Ok so if you are going to attempt this as a 75BST/NIN then you'll find they hit hard [100-150 per hit] and your pet wont last long either. I went in thinking my pet could tank but [CC] it didnt do too well - nearly outlasted the two gremlins. Got the RDM down to about 25% and was saving my tp for end kill. Didnt see what CC had got its prey down to but I suspect lower as CC was hitiing 175+ each hit. I had problems keeping shadows up - maybe my eva is not high enough.

Probably can be done with a little luck, more High Pots and a bit more skill than me!

Soloed as BLM
# Jun 14 2007 at 3:28 AM Rating: Default
before going in, equiped MP gear, rested full, buffed full, used RR etc, then traded pendulum.

Started fight with bind on war, then grav rdm, then killed rdm in one burst II using rairin obi and a thunder III. 3 binds, 2 gravs on the war, 1 burst II 3 thunder IVs and 1 blizzard IV it was dead... piece of cake

for anyone to say this cant be done by blm hasnt ever seen a blm solo >.>

edit: Just soloed the second part, alot easier then i expected... The manticore can start building a resistance to bind but otherwise if you are quick it wont outlast you... keep stoneskin on, dont worry about blink as itll just drop it with silencga/dispelga, barsilence REALLY helps...

Thunder IV > bind > gravity > aspir > stun ga > thunder IV and just repeat that until its dead, good to stick a few dots on when you have the chance... The key to this fight is being FAST, and using aspir as soon as its up so you have enough mp to kill it... I didnt use 2hr, but i won with only enough mp left to warp...

You can also ES bind > rest near the end just in case

Another story of ease
# Apr 02 2007 at 12:31 PM Rating: Decent
Duo'd both easily with 75smn and 75 mnk/nin(me). Fenrir messed up the war while I messed up the rdm, then finished the war. If you have a decent evasion job, neither one can barely even hit you. Mine is 262.

Manticore isn't much better. His silencegas are way worse than his chance to hit.

Fight against weapons.
Binded war twice, then tanked both till rdm dead. (solo rdm/nin).

Second fight, bring 2 stacks of echo drops to be safe if your solo. Just buff with everything at start (even spikes), if he dispells protect, recast if he didn't reduce your MP yet, or just cast protect 1, just cast shell 1 after its dispelled. This to keep stoneskin or haste from being dispelled.

Cast blink with Ichi if posible, save Ni for -ga's. I was able to use echodrops and reblink before he attacked.

Can save TP for Flat blade to stop the silancegas, don't have to, but I found it made it easyer near the end. (it did some tail whips right after, lucky I stuned).

(duelist body and warlock hat for fast casts, then put on what evad I had, duelist boots....etc)

I just got finished pwning the manticore, Ogmios as lv 75 RDM/NIN. The fight wasnt too hard as long as you have echo screens. MP down didnt hinder me at all. Same with dispeega just cast shadows and whatever he dispelled again. In short, it was cake. His attacks are no stronger than the melee gremlin from the fight before. He does have much more HP though. Still, he went down in 14 minutes for me. Just keep buffs on you and debuffs on him and you'll win.

I was a bit scared of using Dia III in this fight because he lowered my mp but at the end of the fight, I had more than enough MP to have kept up Dia III and the fight would have went faster if I had casted it.

5 complete AF sets ^^

# Sep 14 2006 at 12:24 AM Rating: Decent
I just solo'd the first fight against the two gremlins as 75 rdm/nin. Not hard if you follow this strategy...

Bind the meleee one while you kill rdm one.

It will wear off a few times but keep binding it and running away and killing the rdm one. The rdm one will go down pretty fast (thank god). Dia III does wonders.

Now that the rdm one is dead, you have to deal witht he melee one. This one is tough. He attacks pretty fast and really hard. He can take you out with a smite of rage if your not carefull and whirl of rage takes out shadows and stuns so when you see whirl of rage coming, best to start casting shadows. keep debuffs on him and buffs on you and he will die.

I beat the battle in a little over about 8 minutes. Make sure you are strong (my attack was 430 as rdm/nin) and keep dia on them so they die quick.

Good luck!

I'm off to do the second fight against the manticore, I'll post results.

Koru-Moru is being a pain, and sending me to the Rhinostery instead of flagging my Evoker's Horn quest like a good little taru. I suspect it's because I have his "Nothing Matters" quest flagged also, which is known to block the Wizard's Petasos quest.

If anyone else isn't able to get the cutscene, please check your quest list for Windy and see if you also have "Nothing Matters" flagged. I'll be trying to complete it soon, so I'll repost here once I find out if this is actually the problem or not.

Here's some clarification, cause all this jumbled mess is confusing to most people I'm sure.

Koru-Moru sends you to the rhinostry, yes, but that is exactly the words you need him to say in order for you to go to mhaura and get the lightning pendulum. So just ignore his babbling about the rhinostry and go to mhaura instead.

Okay I've spent like what.. 4 hours? Trying to find out why the HELL he keeps telling me that and I don't have that quest flagged and I have NOTHING and I mean -NOTHING- in my Quest log that's from him. -___-XXXX;;; I've wanted this Horn forever and this stupid cut-scene is the only thing prevented me from getting it.. :/ This is seriously frustraiting.. I don't mean to be fuming and flaming but .. AHRG! ; ; I just want the damn horn already..
Is there ANYTHING that might be a problem?.. :/
Here are the names of the quests I have currently active/flagged in Windurst if anyone knows if they're blocking me:..

Act in Good Faith

Hat in Hand

Creepy Crawlies

Rock Racketeer

Carbuncle Debacle

Tuning In

Lure of the Wildcat (Windurst)

(Carbuncle Debacle in Red just to emphisize that YES I DO already have the quest flagged.. :/)

Ok, for those of you who like to skim for stuff like this, and after trying to use this description for my friend this evening (it was horribly presented btw, dunno how I completed this the first time), here's the abbreviated version:

1) House of the Hero - Windy Walls
2) Koru-Moru - Windy Walls (check ur map, he's got his own house, you can't miss it)
3) Ripapa - Mhaura (If I have to tell a SMN where to find these tarus by now, you don't need to be doing AF, you need to stop buying accounts!)
4) Boyahda Tree - Cloister of Storms BCNM (2 NM Weapons - Thunder Gremlin is caster, both resistant to sleep, not sure on silence)
5) Back to Koru-Moru again.
6) Agado-Pugado - Rabao (see Ripapa)
7) Cape Teriggan - Cloister of Gales BCNM (1 NM Manticore, spams Silencega and Dispelga in addition to all a Manticore's regular attacks, BRING ECHOS!!!)
8) You guessed it, back to Koru-Moru again one last time for your Evoker's Horn!!! Congratulations!

This is all pretty much soloable by a 75 NIN and the SMN in need, having an extra tank for the Gremlins is always nice though! We did this with: 75NIN, 75RDM/NIN, 64WHM, and 59SMN, but it was totally cake.

Hope everyone finds this better laid out than the description above, I think I would have! =D

I don't have Rumah yet and Rippa in Muhara gave me the regular tuning fork, I already spoke to House of Heros and the quest (Carbuncle Debacle)is current, Koru-Moru says there's something going on in the Rhinostry, nothing else. So Rippa isn't giving me the pendulum in Muhara, what do I do? Now, I've tried to just go ahead and get the regular tuning fork from Rippa then zone, and go back to him and he says the same thing about the regular tuning fork. He WILL NOT give me the Pendulum of Lightening, why?

I just solo'd the first fight vs the two NM weapons as 75RDM/37 NIN.

I don't have any fantastic equipment either. I went in wearing AF (the level 60 stuff, not AF+1 or AF2), used an elemental torque (+7 elemental magic skill) and 2 astral rings. I started off by buffing myself fully and using utsusemi before entering the battlefield - once I got to the top of the arena, I used Chainspell and gravitied both weapons and bound the melee weapon. From there on I cast Stone 3 vs the RDM weapon (I think it was the thunder weapon) until I was out of mp. I convertted, healed a little, and continued till I had about 170ish mp left. From there, I switched to melee equip (I used Peacock Charm and 2 snipers and a lifebelt, hornetneedle and misericorde daggers) and used Enstone + Icespikes, Stoneskin, utsusemi etc and meleed the rdm weapon down till it was dead. All during this, I had to make sure I would remember to keep the melee weapon gravitied and bound while I dealt with the RDM weapon.

There were times when it used Cure and that sorta screwed me a little, but I think I just got REALLY lucky with evasion (It's capped for a level 75 hume rdm) and managed to finish it off via melee.

At that point I was down to approx 175 hp and 135 mp (always remember to keep refresh on yourself for this, and try to enfeeble the one yo'ure fighting as much as possible).

I then just kept the melee weapon bound and gravitied and rested between bind wear-off times. I have convert meritted to 8 min recast, so this might've helped me a bit.

Once Convert was back, I used it, healed myself till close to full - remembering to keep stoneskin, ice spikes, utsusemi, phalanx, haste, and enspell going. Then I meleed the second one down. I finished the battle in about 24.5 minutes.

I would NOT suggest doing this solo - it's MUCH MUCH easier duo I'm sure, but when you don't have that option and you just want to try, go for it. I don't consider myself an uber RDM of any kind, and again - I'm not wearing really anything Spectacular (I bet you can use just regular not-so-acc specific melee gear and do fine).

Good luck to all

Edit--

BTW: While you're meleeing them down, don't forget to use slow, paralyze, blind, bio 2, and poison 2 - very very helpful.

I don't think BLM would be able to solo it, since others said you can't sleep it. Anyway, Ninja could solo it. Blind the melee weapon and kill the magic one or the other way. Was hit for 3 times for 100+ hp each hit the whole battle. I was half hped at the end. And I only blind them both and blinked. Didn't use slow or paralyze. Took me 8 minutes something.
