Mission Orders

Princess Claidie will soon celebrate her coming-of-age, and the court in Chateau d'Oraguille needs help with the ceremonies. Speak to Monarlais Halver and offer your assistance.

Walkthrough

After talking to the gate guard, he will send you to Halver. Halver directs you to Quicksand Caves (enter through Eastern Altepa Desert G-9). Upon entering, head west to D-9 and turn south. You will enter a rough-hewn cave with a quicksand pit at E-11. Standing on this for a few seconds, and you will fall through. Take the first left you come to, and you will reach an underground lake.

When you click on the Fountain of Kings, two NM Kraken models will appear. Honor (the smaller one) casts paralyzega, silencega, blindga so be very careful; it's recommended to pull him away from Valor (the larger one). Valor is a monk: he uses Hundred Fists and hits hard but inaccurately. A party of 12 adventurers, Level 64-66 is recommended although a party of 10 with a high level tank should be able to take them out. After the battle, click on the Fountain of Kings again to receive the key item. Go back to Halver to turn in the key item. This will mark the mission as complete in your mission log, although you can't start 8-2 yet.

At this point, you will have to wait until after midnight JST. Once you do that, zoning into Northern San d'Oria will grant you a long cut scene. Once this cut scene is complete, the mission is truly over. You can not start 8-2 until after you have seen the cut scene.

After you bring the drops of Amino back to Halver, you need to wait until Midnight JST.

I arrived in N. Sandy before this time, so I ended up talking to a gate guard. She (or He, depending on which you go to) will say the ceremony is about to begin, please attend.

I had to zone out of N. Sandy and then back in and I recieved the Cutscene.

Don't you love it when plans fall apart?

Went in as 72 Nin/War (Me), 75 Rdm/Nin (Sharde), 60 Pld/Whm (Dagmar), & 58 Rng/Whm (Flanj). Dagmar and I needed this done, the rest were there to help.

So we get to the spot, a few cactaur and ants near the Fountain. I begin asking what we should do about aggro...well, aggro began and ended up with a major linkage of all aggro there, and voila: we kill the aggro in the room in an unexpected auto-targeting linkage..lol.

Ok, so we pull back a little to a clearer area. I get sneaked, so I can pop them. After they're popped, I run back and try to Kurayami pull Valor, the mnk, from the furthest distance I can. I keep trying to pull, inching my way forward just a bit.

Then Sharde goes charging in. I'm not sure if he could see that the NMs were below water. Anyway, he aggros both with no sneak on. And I'm thinking...this is the beginning of the end, what the hell was he thinking.

I provoke Honor and move to the far side of the room, while Sharde tanks Valor. Me and Flanj fight Honor, Dagmar joins Sharde. Essentially tried to get far enough so that the Silencega/Paralyzga doesn't hit the other 2. It doesn't spam these spells, but it's often enough to be an irritance. Removes all shadows and forces me to use an echo drop or hope Flanj can paralyna me. I didn't have protect/shell on either, since we only expected Sharde to try to solo Valor. I required a few cures from Sharde and Flanj and also Haste. But we eventually kill Honor and then we collectively take down Valor.

Ok, from what I could see, Valor's Hundred Fists is very strong. Sharde took a lot of damage and had to Bind, then withdraw to let the 2hr wear off. Sharde can solo the San d'Oria 7-1 NM Mnk, letting blaze spikes, stoneskin, phalanx, do a lot of the work..haha. But Valor broke through those quickly enough that he required Bind/Gravity. I couldn't tell for certain if there were AoE attacks, but I believe Valor does some sort. Both krakens have that evasion boost special ability. I had to use 7 echo drops. Probably would've had to use 9, but I interrupted Silencega (which he used much more frequently) 2x with my WS's. Honor doesn't hit particularly hard, without Protect on, I took no more than 130 dmg on any non-critical hit. He's just the extremely annoying one and impossible to blink tank "cleanly" with silencega. I probably could blink tank Valor at 72 since my evasion is high enough, and just kite during hundred fists. But Mnk types are the worst for Nin to tank and I'd rather not if I can help it.

Hope this was helpful to you.

This is the easiest NM fight so far, as far as san'doria missions are concerned. I did this with LS mates 75smn 75whm 74sam 70sam 71war 70pld(me).

I used oil and went to pop them. This part was funny cause i couldn't pull the bastards lol...finally one of the samurai's just aggro'ed valor on purpose without sneak and we began the fight. These monsters were ridiculously easy. Just let the sams and warrior pummel them to death with weapon skills(we did clear the room of some of the anticans). The smn just basically casted buffs like stoneskin and blink, whm just cured the hate stealing dd's. Anyone who takes enough damage dealers should not have a problem taking down these 2 pitiful NM's. Good luck.

Did this tonight 71war 74blm 75rdm(idiot) 67smn 64whm 65sam....Its easy if you have prolems with this kill yourself...Sneaked spawned smn pulled honor we killed it. Valor despawned got key item...Its used silencega 1 time rest was paralyzega and its slow enough i recast utsu np. We didnt clear room just the 2 sabotenders in the tunnel before room and pulled to there. Its easy low Hp didnt even use hundered fists like we were told.... GL

Well, here's my entertaining story for the night -.-

First off, our alliance consisted of 12 people:
BLMx2, PLDx3, RDMx2 (me being one), WHM, DRGx2, MNK, and THF

Arrive at our destination, sneak-spawn and pull Honor, all silences attempts went in vain. Killed Honor w/o difficulty (cleared room 1st though), Valor despawned. So we go to check the ???, and we don't get the key item.

Therefore: You MUST kill both NMs to get the item, I am convinced of this as per the events that took place. Dispute otherwise, 11 other people saw it happen :)

So, we wait, mobs in room respawn again, we knock them off, then proceed to respawn both NMs. This time the plan was for the 75 RDM to Sleep Valor, which seemed easy - this didn't happen, he couldn't land it neither could I. So we have 1 PLD going up against Valor, the rest against Honor, and others doing healing as needed.

Now this went ok for awhile, until Valor 2hours, and proceeds to kill the PLD almost immediately. So after having a ******* of hate from Cure IVs, Valor comes after me {joy}, now while the rest are almost done with Honor, I'm basically kiting a Hundred Fisting Valor >.>

So Honor dies, the other two PLDs try to get hate of me, and they do, but I got it back a weee bit too easy, and Valor kills me. Now Valor gets a few whacks on the WHM and she dies. Soon after another PLD dies. Then the MNK dies just to make things even more pretty.

So I take a R1 from a BLM, then Chainspell+Raise the WHM, who R2's the PLD. A BLM then used Burst which did a nice dent, not to mention hate galore. Managed to get that off him, killed Valor, raised the last two people ASAP, and got our Key Items. >.>

Moral of the story: This fight BLOWS o.O

Since I saw many people are confused, like you are, on the despawn thing, I'd like to explain this. It has been tested, and it works for all the fights like this one, with 2 or more NM being spawned from some ???.

1) No, you don't have to kill all of them.

2) Yes, you can just kill one and let the other(s) despawn, but...

3) ... you have to kill the one you're fighting AFTER the other(s) despawned.

Trust me... that's how it works. We had to fight those skulls in KRT 7 times before we could understand it. >.<

mission 8_1 question
# Jan 20 2005 at 9:47 AM Rating: Good
i have a question? can anyone help kill the NMs,even if they dont hAve the mission,or a lower rank
duo'd it
# Jan 12 2005 at 1:25 AM Rating: Excellent
duo'd this the other day with my L70 nin friend and myself, L75 whm. it was pretty easy, here is how we won:

-popped them with sneak on.
* they pop low in the water and even while standing at the edge of the pond i couldnt cast on it, nor could the nin voke one.

-the ninja popped off sneak and walked carefully along the wall untill one agroed, they dont link.

-we brought it up to the zone which is nearby.
*these do have a nasty 2hr like the sea horror btw.

-the nin tanked it as i casted on it, when it 2hrd we both zoned out then back in again and continued to kill it, its low hp made it a pretty quick fight.

-after it died we ran to the pond to find the 2nd one had despawned, and we got the key item.

hope this helps ~!^.^!~

ps: we didnt need them, but dont forget echo drops
Directions

Kinda poor directions. Ill try to clarify. When you enter Quicksand Caves from G-9 of Eastern Altepa Desert, continue west untill you reach the end of the hall. There will be a room in front of you, one to your left, and one to your right. Take the one on the left (south). Continue through this area and fall down the hole. Have sneak up as there are lots of ants there waiting at the bottom for you. Then continue along this passageway and take your first left. This will bring you to the room you need to be in. Im standing here right now waiting for the rest of my party to get here, and from what I can see there are 3 ants, and 3 cactuars. Little do they know that they will be pwnzed quite hardcore in a short amount of time. :P

Ill edit how the mission goes, as it unfolds.

EDIT: Ok that was pathetic. Both died in under 2 minutes total. Granted we had a bunch of people (15) but they went down fast. Piece of cake (and I like cake). Just be sure to clear out the room and the rest is easy. One other fairly important note. Pull 1 at a time. :)

Did this today and we couldnt pull Honor because of distance issues, so we pulled Valor first. Lo and behold, we beat him and Honor disappeared and we could all get the key item.

I am confirming that you can get the item by killing only Valor.
Did it tonight with 75WHM, 74BLM, 75WAR, 74RDM, 70DRG and 67(became 66 after 2nd attempt)MNK.

Valor and Honor do not spawn claimed. They do not link with each other. And mantas aggro sound. So ... sneak-pull. ^^

Clear the room (if needed; enemies do not aggro if you're high enough, though they do aggro anyone who rests for MP), park the entire group away from the fountain (so nobody's close enough to aggro them), and then Sneak one person and have them spawn the two enemies. Who will quite considerately just sit there doing nothing at this point.

Then just pull one with some sort of ranged attack, without getting close enough to aggro the other. After killing the first, pull and kill the second.

Honor is a mage sort, who does indeed use Silencega and Paralyga, so come prepared for that with Echo Drops and macro'd -na spells. Valor doesn't cast any spells, but it does use Hundred Fists (the easiest way to deal with that is Invincible of course).

About finishing the mission ... after you beat the NMs and click the fountain again for your key item ("Drops of Amnio"), go back to the chateau and talk to Halver.

You must "wait one day" (i.e. wait for 0:00 JP time to pass, this is 8 AM PST or 11 AM EST) after talking to Halver, before you can see the mission's final cutscenes and go on to the next mission.

I just finished 7-2 about 2 days ago with a great pt setup. I tried to get 8-1 from the guard but he wouldn't let me have this quest! I tried to trade crystals and he tells me you u have accept a mission before i can trade him stuff... I have max fame in sandoria so i dunno why he wont give me the mission 8-1. I also tried talking to Hlalver btw and going to Trion's Chamber but no results.. If anyone can figure out why i would greatly appreciate it!!

Trade crystals to the guy with the TK by his name, not the mission giver.
Pretty easy
# Jul 27 2004 at 11:32 AM Rating: Decent
Did this with an alliance of 16 people, lvl60-66 (plus a 75 BRD), was pretty easy, although getting to the spot with that many people was pretty annoying (we decided to sneak there because there were WAY too many enemies to fight). You can't sleep the 2 NM, so I suggest having 2 tanks, or at least someone who can hold one until the other dies. Bring echo drops.
Mission 8-2 - "Lightbringer"

Mission Title: Lightbringer
Previous Mission: Coming of Age
Recommended Party: Part 1 (Key) 4 x Lv. 62, Part 2 (NM fight) 14-15 x Lv. 64~
Note: Unaffiliated as well as non Rank 8-2 players may aid in this mission.

Walkthrough: After getting the mission from the gate guard go talk to the King then go to the knights' quarters (upon entering the castle turn left and go through he door) and talk to the guy (name starts with R). You now need to go to Temple of Uggalepih in the Elshimo region. This is a 2 part quest.

First part requires you to get a Prelate Key (Rare/Ex) which is dropped by Tonberry Stabber. This key allows you to enter the door for part 2. To get the key you go left upon zoning into the Temple and go through the granite door. Go north then east then north (just follow the corridor) until your reach the stairs and zone out to Yhoator. From here on go straight then make a right turn followed by another right and go straight until you zone again. You're now back into the Temple with a staircase leading down and right, camp here and look for Tonberry Stabbers.

Second part requires you to kill 2 doll NMs. Upon zoning into the Temple, take the path leading right and keep going until you zone out to another section of Yhoator, then keep going and you'll be back into the Temple (If you run into a wooden gate you know you're heading the right way.) Continue until you see a fork in the road with vines, turn left and there will be a Guardian doll which stands still and won't agro unless you attack it. Kill it and the door will open leading to a room with 4 sets of staircases, also in this room is the Manipulator (NM) that agros to magic and he patrols the room which are also inhabited by a lot of tonberries. (If you have brought the recommended party you should be able to take out the Manipulator easily.) There is a door right above where you first enter this room so run up the staircase DIRECTLY above you, not the one on the other side. Trade the Prelate Key to enter (note: it is a one-time-use key). Once in keep going and when you reach a fork in the road turn left. You should now see four doors, this is where the boss fight is. Clear the hallway of all tonberries and magic jars. Doors 1 (farthest down), 2, 4 (closest to you) is where you need to go into and click on the ??? to receive a fragments of a broken key. DO NOT click on door number 3 after you retrieve these three pieces as the NMs will pop. Collect all three fragments and trigger the NM using the 3rd door. I will post up additional information on how to fight these NM after I do it again but standard techniques and management should take them out although it's not a cake walk so beware. After killing them click on door 3 to receive your key item and you're done. Go back to San Doria for your reward.

Reward: Rank 9, 80,000 gils

The minimum level is not 65 because I did it when I was 62. The 2 Kraken NMs are called Valor and Honor. Valor seems to be a melee class while Honor is a mage class that does all the crazy Ga status especially silecega >< so be very careful.

Just to add a bit more to the directions, once you zone into Quicksand Caves, go straight then around the corner and you'll reach a big room, keep going all the way down to near the end of the corridor and make a left. There will be lots of ants around but go into that room and there'll be quicksand. After you drop down the sand head straight (uphill) then take a left leading downhill. It's recommended tanks and mages bring echo drops unless you're confident you won't get silenced.

Did this last night with the following setup

Edy >> 74/37 BST/WHM
Dapyuun >> 70/35 BST WHM
Zuku >> 75 WHM/BLM [i think that was his level]

Dap spawned the NM's and proceeced to sneak/pull the valor NM. Pulled into the tunnel where we both let CC's do a little damage before I started to Mele. The hundred fists hit me a few times and completely took out my CC, but by that time the timer had cooled so I called another. Finished this with whm only having to heal me once when i went into the yellow from Hundred fists. Killed Valor and Honor was already gone. touched ??? and got the item - easy. A 75 BST could soolo this i reckon and a bst duo just owns it.

Just to add to this, the room with the Fountain of Kings is not empty. There are ants and cactuars and worms in there that can make life hard for anyone under level 67 or so. Clear the room, heal to full MP then pop the NMs.

By Minimum level, it usually means the lowest level you SHOULD do it at. Heck a lvl 1 could accept this mission if he was somehow rank 8.

The two Krakens, one is called Valor (bigger one), the second one is called Honor; and, Honor is the one that casts Silence on mages, so u may want to kill that one first. If not he casts silence every other minute. Therefore, the mages nned to bring Echo Drops, and use as many are needed, depending how quick you kill it. My party of 8, mages had to use 3 echo drops for the duration of the fight. Valor, does AoE too.
