Description

Step 1: Mhaura

Go to the Goldsmith's Guild shop in Mhaura (G-8) and talk to Fyi Chalmwoh. She'll tell you that the Weaver's Guild and Armor shops used to use mannequins to display their wears, but suddenly and mysteriously everyone stopped using them. Now they are nowhere to be found. Fyi Chalmwoh thinks it would be great if people used them again, but has no idea how they were made. She wants to make them and that's where you come in, being the well traveled adventurer that you are.

Talk to her a second time and she gives you a hint about where to go next. She hasn't checked the weaver's shop in Selbina.

Step 2: Selbina

Follow Fyi Chalmwoh's hint and check the Weaver's Guild shop in Selbina (H-9)/(I-9). Talk to Ramona (H-9), the old Hume woman standing near the doorway between the rooms inside the shop. She remembers these cursed mannequins… sort of… and warns you not to be foolish enough to take this quest any further. But since you are an adventurer and not going take no for an answer she gives you another hint and a key item, an old catalogue from the Woodcraft Guild.

Want to make a mannequin? Well, you're going to need some wood, dummy!

Step 3: San d'Oria

Talk to Cheupirudaux at the Woodcraft Guild (F-3) in Northern San d'Oria. Finally we get down to the bottom of the story… but I won't ruin it for you, go find out for yourself. Cheupirudaux gives you another key item, the joint diagram for building the intricate mannequin joints, and tells you no Woodcrafter knows how to make the 5 mannequin parts you need, you'll have to find ones from the old mannequins on your own.

You need to find a Mannequin Head, Mannequin Body, Mannequin Hands, Mannequin Legs, and Mannequin Feet. Each of these are Rare items so you may only hold one at a time. Good Luck!

Step 4: Teamwork!!!

So far, the mannequin parts have been a little difficult to find. There is peculation about how and where they are obtained. Most of the evidence provided by message-board postings indicates that Hands, Legs, and Feet have been found.

None of these items have yet appeared on any mob in "normal" play. Legs and Feet are said to be dropped during Garrisons and Hands have appeared in at least one Orb Battle. We still need to find where to get Heads and Bodies from.

Teamwork is essential to completing this quest because you must participate in Party events in order to obtain the mannequin parts. Mannequin parts cannot be sold at the AH even though they are tradable, Cheupirudaux tells you so when you talk to him. However, if you have more gil than you know what to do with, there are people selling the parts they find.

Step 5: (Presumably) Put it all Together

Go back to Fyi Chalmwoh in Mhaura and trade all the parts to her at the same time. She will tell you to come back in several days to claim your mannequin. I'm not sure what the neccessary wait is, but I waited 5 in-game days and talked to her again, and it was ready.

Just got my hume female mannequin. It's rare/ex, 7 storage, light elemental. You don't get to pick the race or gender, it's the same as yours.

To place it, you move it into your safe and go into layout like any other furnishing. It takes up 4x4 squares. You put clothes on it by going into layout, selecting the mannequin, then choosing Equip. You can equip anything you have in storage, but nothing that's in your safe or your own inventory. The equip menu looks just like the one for your character, but only has these slots: Main, Sub, Range, Head, Body, Hand, Legs, Feet. The others are present but greyed out. The mannequin slowly rotates in the center of the screen as you're equipping it.

Disappointingly, it is unviewable and unavailable from a rented mog house like any other furnishing.

It doesn't take long at all to finish the mannequin. I turned in all my pieces around 2AM, logged out right there, then logged back in around 11AM and it was ready for me.

Quick note on this (I personally have not done this specific quest, however, after doing Avatar quests I figured this out). The time change for the game is roughly at 9am CST (aka 15:00 GMT). I am told this is 0 hour in Japan... which could make sense to me since, well Japan is +9 GMT and I am at -6 GMT, and well at 9am my time is when all Conquest tallies, and avatar quests reset:).

Anyways, to the point. Many events in the game are linked to 15:00 GMT. So, it would be a fair indicator that this quest is as well, based on the fact that there are ppl who have posted that they have waited forever and didn't get it, and then the person here who got it after 11:00am...

So, if anyone can confirm this, otherwise, I will probably be hitting up the BCNM 20s this weekend if we are not doing the proms...

ok heres, the deal, u need the head, body, hands, legs and feet, then u do the quest, put the mannequin in ur safe, and then u get +7 storage and get to put ur armor on it... or at least i think its +7 storage, that or +6, but still not bad

Just finished getting all my pieces about a week ago - bazaared them for 5-6 days to let people look at em. Turned them in, waitied a day or two and got my Mannequin back. I was hoping that somewhere along the Line I got to pick Race/Gender - I know there is a specific set of models, but I was forced into getting My Race/Gender. Sorta dissappointing but Still very neat

I just got both the feet and legs in the West Ronfaure Garrison last night. Not looking forward to having to do BCNM's for other parts, but what has to be done has to be done...
W Sarutabaruta Drop
# Jul 11 2004 at 8:11 PM Rating: Decent
We did the Garrison Quest in W Sarutabaruta twice, and wanted to confirm that there were over 12 legs dropped (lost count during the mayhem). Unfortunately, that seemed to be the only thing dropping. We turned in a 7 knot Quippas both times, and only one person in the party/alliance needs to trade it. Also everyone needs to make sure that they talk to the WW to have your level restriction removed....had a few guys take off, not realizing they were still capped.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 08 2004 at 8:41 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This would be a GREAT help for those of us who are just getting sub-jobs, ohh wait the BCNM battles would SLAUGHTER ME. I love it! Another item that would be EXTREMELY usefull at lower levels, yet you have to be way beyond that in order to obtain it! Yes, I understand that my Linkshell could help me or I could run around and try to gather a party then press my luck with lotting against strangers that might be hoarding the parts for later sales. Thanks again SE!

The parts can not be horded, they are marked as Rare so that one person can not collect multiples of the same part.

how exactly again is this "extremely useful"

I'm sick and tired of people constantly whining because the best equipment isn't just handed to them. OH NO not something you actually have to work for! In this case its a mog house furnishing, not even a piece of equipment that you want to use.

Edit:

Thank you for your constructive criticism. I had something else posted here, but I think that thanking you for your opinion would be taken so much better.

Hopefully you remember what it was like the first time you completed the sub-job quest and how difficult it was to swap between two sets of armor. If not, then you were better off than 90% of us that play (and by 90% I'm referring to those in my LS who stated they "would have loved to have had one of those after they completed their sj quest". I'm also using the people that I have talked to IRL regarding this quest. All figures are estimates, based off of real opinions by real people, numbers may be off by as much as 50%)

Actually, if you plan your leveling, you will only have to have one specific set of armor at a time in your Mog House, since its usually safe to assume that you can sell back (and re-buy later) a pice of armor for more or less the same amount you paid for it. Either that or buy a mule character, using those fresh 80~ slots to store items for an extra dollar per month. I never had this problem when going through my main or sunjob...

Hmm... planning doesn't always fix things. I had it worked out so war/mnk would only be 1 set at 1 time, but after levelling sam, i fouldn out I wanted/needed to lv blm. Subsequently, I went to lv whm and smn, which is 3 sets or armor there. Not to mention a few other sets for my low lv melee jobs that i will eventually level so I can be more versatile for party play. 7 extra slots is very nice. What's more is they *can* be free if you work for them. The work for this is easy compared to the work required to get mog safe upgrades (crafting for bed and gifts). Plus... It's like having a nerfed version of the modelviewer in-game. How cool is that?!

The manequin can equip any piece of equipment in the matching slot and matching Race/Sex. In other words, you can mix and match multiple Artifact armor. You could have the Thief Artifact with the Ranger Cap and see what things would look like. Most people, however, will display their hard earned RSE or a second Artifact set if they have one.

i've noticed that with Gustaberg, Feet are common, while Legs are quite rare. I've heard that with Sarutabaruta, Legs are common while Feet are rare. What about Ronfaure? has anyone done the Ronfaure one? Which peice does it drop?

I can confirm that feet & legs can be found in Garrison. The linkshell I am a member of arranged several Garrison events on Diabolos, each event drops multiple legs & feet.

Legs are rarer than feet though.

Character: Anton
Linkshell: Apocalypse (http://innerhouse.dyndns.org/apocalypse)
WAR35/MNK16/RNG19/SMN10 etc. etc. blah blah blah...

Legs seem to drop fairly often in every Sarutabaruta garrison run, while I've never seen any feet. I have a feeling that the rarity of the drop of the specific piece depends on what area you are doing the Garrison in.
where to get this stuff
# Jul 07 2004 at 11:30 AM Rating: Decent
i got the legs from the garrison in West sarutabaruta. I also remember the guy in our party that traded the items to the W.W. guy got the body of the mannequin too. and gave it to someone else who helped him with garrison yet didn't have a mannequin part yet.

I've seen legs and feet in the sarutabaruta garrison. Although, the feet have only dropped once, they have indeed dropped.

I also did the cloudy orb ghelsba outpost bcnm20 3-4 times and havn't seen the head drop yet.
RE: Other parts
# Aug 01 2004 at 9:07 PM Rating: Default
You have to do BCNM 30 for the head, not 20. Hope that solves your problem.
