According to Gilgamesh, a Mithra carrying a mysterious crystal she found in Zi'Tah was recently in Norg. Her name was something like Mary or Maroo or Maree...
Head to D-12 in Western Altepa Desert and enter Quicksand Caves. Go to K-8. After going through the weighted door, open another door at G-8. Walk through and fall down the pit. Then look for a ??? around where you fell. It should be found at the pillar. Touch the ??? and select 'Yes.' This will trigger the notorious monster Ancient Vessel.
Kill the NM and inspect the ??? to dig out the key item. Return to Maryoh Comyujah, she will then give you the Cerulean Crystal key item.

bottom line, 2x70+ skilled players should be able to drop this with a lil luck, safest with a thf/nin and a rdm/nin, but not bad at all. possibly even solo-able, but i wouldnt want to try
Anyway, like the rest of the posts on this thread say, this fight is easily duoable.
I (75whm) and my brother (75 nin) took him down with no problem. no interesting strategy required.
All you have to know, that I didn't know, is that, that thing has a move that take away all shadows and then he hits you with "Additional Effect: Stun" then you can't put shadows back on, which was our demise the first run (helping a friend)
We had tried THF/NIN + DRG/WHM we got it down to 9% and the GA killed my wyvern and we went down quickly after. My recast on call wyvern wasn't met yet.
For those that say that its silencable, on 10 tries, it didn't work full Enfeeble gear for the RDM. Don't even try.
All I can say, it's that you need two tanks, with shadows preferably, its quite easy if you take it slow and steady, it doesn't GA that often, so just keep you life up.
The idea was I tanked with dual March (lower recast) and RDM would take hate away when I get hit, Joyeuse interrupted its casting often. Just transfer hate from one to the other and it's an easy fight, didn't even need convert.
My Setup was:
Main: Heart Snatcher / Terra's Staff
Range: Hamelin Flute
Head: Walahra Turban / Optical Hat
Neck: Chivalrous Chain / Evasion Torque
Earring1: Melody Earring
Earring2: Suppanomimi / Minstrel's Earring
Body: Assault Jerkin / Scorpion Harness
Hand: Dusk Gloves
Ring1: Woodsman Ring / Jelly Ring
Ring2: Woodsman Ring / (Vit +4 Ring)
Back: Amemet Mantle +1 / Cheviot Cape
Waist: Gleeman's Belt / Warwolf Belt
Legs: Choral AF / Sha'ir
Feet: Charal AF
Left Side is full ATK and right is macro to change to DEF+PHY-
Took a min or two to get adjusted, where I had to change to DEF, after that I went full offence for the rest. Just be careful.
Hope the info helped.
The monk had both my haste and the bards march haste on him and used his 2hr. It was a fast fight.
SAM 75 <--- Me
WHM macro'd ES+Silence, that stuck. DRK and I skillchained from the start, I ended with a Tachi: Gekko which I believe landed another silence which is why we went so long without any magic issues from the pot.
I 2hr'd it around 50% for fun, took a good chunk of life, then it started casting Tier IV single spells (I don't recall any aga's that we took). It ate about half my hp with an Aero IV just a warning (1300 down to 650ish) but the WHM was fast on that and we had so much hate after our 2hrs that the WHM wasn't even close to being at risk of hate by using some large cures.
We didn't HAVE to 2hr by far, it was just to speed things up.
No one person in this setup truly was tanking, the hate was bouncing around between the three of us.
The battle was very short.
The hole you want to drop down is NOT the zm-6 hole. There is a weighted door at K-8 that goes east and will take you to another map. Now head to G-8, open that door, and drop down this hole. The ??? is right at the bottom.
Lyons provokes it to start and I'm holding TP that I grabbed earlier to take 1st stun responsibility. Well nobody mentioned the sleep lol; true, I guess it's nothing really worth mentioning in a trio with a mage, no big deal. Things were looking good in the beginning and we were taking decent chips out of its HP bar until Lyons got a Sleep I shortly into the fight, and somehow the thing turned on me right after it slept him, and I never even threw a swing or otherwise provoked it in that time. So now I'm soloing the thing and I can't really get shadows up as I can't use Ni yet at 73, so I throw up 100 Fists early. Interestingly, the pot seems to have been blessed with some intelligence: Lyons was still sleeping and it turns from me for a second to Sleep II him, then turns right back on me. I knock it down to about 55% before getting put down, and then Lyons took it down to 48% before his humiliation was served.
So much for our visions of glorious Alla posts claiming a duo win, ha! Well I think we may have done it if it weren't for Lyons sleeping on the job. If we could have avoided sleep, properly traded hate and always been able to stun its meanest magic with TP, the thing may have gone down. I'm not sure how bad its Blaze Spikes would've hurt us over time. I doubt we'll try again. We'll shoot for a sure win next time with more help.
[ Paco : Hades Server : Monk for life : LV73 (going into the fight, LV72 after it) ]
Party: 74Mnk/Nin, 75Smn/Whm, and me 70Brd/Whm
Smn used Titan, Monk tanked, along with Titan. It casts one -ga spell, and a couple IV's. It died fairly quickly, and we we're lucky that it didn't use more magic. All in all it was fun ^.^
And then I got my item, and went on my merry way.
Edit: Had a bad night, I apologize.

Alistaire 72 Nin
Dreaubaut 75 Mnk
Vyaba 67 Whm
Icebalm 67 Blm/Rdm
Tuu 67 Blm
Mintile 75 Brd
Finnius 66 Rdm (me)
This fight was so easy it was ridiculous. We had more trouble with Kam'lanaut as our Nin took 2x <Death>. Just keep HP high and keep Tank/DD's hasted and this thing is a cinch. We only had the Mnk hit Orange HP 1 time ^^ Oh, I nearly forgot. Stun was also an invaluable tool as the pot never got it's main move off. I forget what it's called.

70 RDM/blm (me)
Totally wiped this thing in about 4 minutes flat...it didn't give us much trouble..only casts Blizzaga 3 on us once or twice. Most irritating thing was the Magic Shield it cast but we had just paralyzed, slowed and did all the DoT's before it used it. WHM was bored from not having to cast cure on the rdm/nin boys thanks to shadows and spammed Banish and Holy on it at the end....was a very cool fight indeed and proves you don't have to have major DD's to do it.
Good Luck to those going and finishing it up...totally worth it for the cutscenes.

65 DRK (me)
and had no problems at all. I stunned all AOE's but one at the end (was draining), and Guillotine can actually stick silence, if only for a second. You can use it as an alternative way of stunning a spell. Arcane circle also helps paralyze the mob occasionally.
Mob isn't tough, just make sure it hits the tank. It hit me for 300 dmg on a regular attack, granted I'm a DRK with lower defense than a WHM, but still.
I think a DRK can be super useful for this fight, for once they aren't just stun monkeys who hit hard.
The goal was to keep throwing mobs at it until it gave up, but eventually the RDM and BST had to melee.
It was fun watching the pot cast Flare on scorpions.
The BST hit red at least once when he pulled hate from his pet, and I had to Benediction after the RDM converted later on in the battle but fortunately enough hate was established such that the pot didn't turn towards me, and we didn't have any problems.
There really wasn't any strategy involved. The NM pretty much can't be silenced. It would have been easier with a stunner, but I can't complain.

Long fight, but very doable. We were most worried about -aga spells, but he only used them once or twice. Funny thing is it just kept casting drown, which was a total waste. Ninja and I would do slug shot >> blade: jin to try to keep a balanced hate level. Only time we were in any kind of danger is when the pot used blizaga 3 once (I think it was level 3, maybe it was 2, can't remember) and then a worm popped right next to use and hit us with stonega 2. Rdm slept it and we were fine.
I bet the ninja could have duo'd it with a healer, but it would have taken awhile.
Edit no wait you fall down the hole passed the ??? for that mission. I guess I should read more carefully
