Summary

A piece of artifact gear lies hidden in a coffer in Beadeaux.

Walkthrough

Before starting this quest, you must first activate the quest Borghertz's Striking Hands. You must also have completed Ghosts of the Past - MNK AF1.

You will need to acquire a Beadeaux Coffer Key, which is dropped by Ancient Quadavs, Darksteel Quadavs, Sapphire Quadavs and Platinum Quadavs.

Once you have the key you will need to find the Treasure Coffer. Coffers spawn in the tunnels with the coffer mobs at N-7, M-6, M-7, L-6, K-7 and K-8.

Once you find the Treasure Coffer, trade the Coffer Key and you will receive the Temple Cyclas.

Death in Beadeaux
# Aug 22 2009 at 11:11 AM Rating: Decent
I just tried soloing the Coffer Key as a MNK60/WAR30 and died on the way there. I got aggroed by two easy preys. So I doubt I could solo the Quadavs that drop the key. FYI, go either high level or get some help.

just gotta double check this. I got the key (was a livin hell to put together a pt and get drop) and used my rng to open the af since it has shadowbind and is a couple of lvls higher. When i opened the coffer after numerous attempts in Beadeaux, i got 10200gil. After beating my head in the wall a couple of times, I feel i gotta double check so i know this was a fault from my side.

Is it possible to get the af from coffers without using the job the af is ment for? I got the rusty old gauntlets to mnk using my rng, but that was a quest, so i dunno..

Anyways, please post an answer asap, will try to put together a pt later today if im the one to blame. Cheers

from what I have read you have to be the job you want the af for since multiple jobs have af pieces in the same coffer. so you must go as mnk.

When you go to open a coffer for a direct AF piece... meaning open tada Cyclas, or Crown you have to be the job of AF type... old gauntlets are different. because they are just a key item, not a direct set of the AF, its like this so the game knows when you open the Coffer that you want the cyclas and not the WHM AF or w/e hell else you can get out of those boxes, so going as RNG its not gunna just pick from a line up of all the possible AF pieces available.

Just did it last night (52MNK), saw a random person shouting for a WHM coffer pt and joined in.
The PT was mostly anon, but aside from me, the 55 pld, and the 60 WHM, it must have been 3 lvl 73+ RDMs or BLMs. everyone got to the coffer pop area no problem, and we passed a coffer on the way to the cross-shaped room. After 5th kill, key drops, I barely win the lot, run back, pop the chest, and do a victory dance. Unfortunately, I forgot to reapply sneak on the way back to camp, and the Quadav made me take a nice nap. Overall, still an easier run than Garlaige, by far

Im a %6 MNK and I have helped with many coffer key hunts and I have to say that this was by far the worst coffer key to get. I was there with my linkshell 3 times to get the key for people who needed it and the drops seemed to be about 1 every 4-5 hours. This was with a 60+ THF as well. I actually got my key and AF Body (yeah) but my PLD friend still needs his key so back we go more time. Good luck to anyone who needs this key it is a real @#*&%#@ lol. Now all I have to do is get to 58 to wear my AF, cant wait.

i got lucky today, i saw a shout i jeuno for a skillup/coffer key party in beadeaux, and i went.
we had an alliance of 12 people, and the third kill dropped a key. Everyone who needed it immediately lotted, but i came out on top. so i got the key, and asked the party if they minded me going to check out some coffer spawn points. they said no so i went to the room that looks like a cross. after camping coffer for 10 minutes, the party asked me to go back to camp. I said ok, and headed back. I pressed tab twice on the way back, and saw Treasure Coffer appear. I opened it and got my AF =P so i guess i got really lucky.

Alright, went back with level 70 party. Farmed Davs from 4 doors room for 1.5 hours before I got the drop. No Treasure Hunter II in party. So i logged for 2 hours. Came back to check area and didn't find many ppl. Chance the spawn was there. Brought some Silencing Potion so I could move around without running down to Mute. Checked everything from Mute throughout 4 doors. Made another round from 4 doors and found chest just behind an Afflictor behind door two; need Silencing Potion to be able to make these trips.
Once I opened Coffer; got aggro and died under five seconds; but only took 1 sec to get chest. Good luck ppl

Well tried it. Party was 75(War), 62(Drg),60(Mnk)
60(Blk), 56(Monk). Sneaked all the way to 4 Doors room. Killed maybe 10 no drop. I start search for Thief; Then all of the sudden we all drop. Quadav, not sure which one, cast Firagra IV and dropped us all. The party immediately disbanded. So I figure; I find a merc in Jueno. Been shouting two days and ...no takers. Hummm.
Can't believe it that hard. Everyone seems to do it. I know I'll get mine...someday.

Of course it's repeatsble....what would happen if you dropped your AF if you couldn't repeat it? XD

All AF is now repeatable, you just have to talk to an NPC to be able to. So now you don't have to feel bad about ditching useless AF1 like MNK and BLM and such
