Summary

Maat has issued a final challenge to test your limits. Return with the items he has requested and the trial will begin.

Walkthrough

Talk to Maat at level 66 or higher to receive this final test. He will ask you to bring him a testimony of your job. These are Rare/Ex items that are dropped by various mobs depending on job.

Prior to a March 26, 2012 software update, a job Testimony was only good for one attempt and had to be manually dropped by the player after the attempt was over. After the software update, each testimony possessed will grant players three attempts at the corresponding battlefield: Shattering Stars / The Beast Within / Breaking the Bonds of Fate / Achieving True Power / A Furious Finale / Survival of the Wisest. The item will disappear upon trading it for the third time.

After you win the fight, make sure you go back and talk to Maat one last time for a cut scene, after which your level cap will be lifted to 75.

You'll likely need a party to beat these mobs efficiently as the drop rate, as for any required quest item, leaves much to be desired. (getting flashbacks of sub job or genkai 1 yet?)

Once you bring Maat the testimony, he will challenge you to a fight to prove once and for all you have ultimate mastery over your job.

Maat assumes your job and has all the abilities of it including your 2hr. Regardless of job however, he fights with his fists and can use asuran fists which could snuff out your hopes of winning in one fell swoop if you don't play your cards right, not to mention he hits pretty hard. Oh yes, your sub job is disabled for this fight so you can expect no help from that. You have 10 minutes to beat Maat and prove yourself to him. Watch out because the old man is WAY tougher than he looks!

Some general tips

-Maat does not attack until you do. Use this to your advantage by buffing yourself and resting to full before fighting.

-melees, buy an opo-opo necklace (TP regen when sleeping) and some sleeping potions. Put yourself to sleep with the necklace on to build up TP to 100% or so.

-Maat is not to be underestimated! Make sure you have any piece of equipment you think could help, use food, carry some medicine supply and have a battle strategy planned out. Do nothing but your very best!

-I'm not 100% sure on this but I'm told that Maat has the same stats as you do when you ENTER the fight. meaning, if you strip yourself (or maybe even equip stuff that lowers your important stats) and then equip your regular gear before fight him, it will give you a statistical advantage on him. Since Maat doesn't attack until you do, there's no real harm in trying this. Can anyone confirm?

Job strategies

Warrior

You'll need the opo-opo necklace, 4 sleep potions, a meat mithkabob and an icarus wing to do this. Be a good idea to macro your warrior abilities along with using the icarus wing as you must do this very smoothly. Enter the arena, eat your food, and put yourself to sleep until you have 100% TP. Once you're all ready, head over to meet and stand right in position. Now, turn on Aggressor, Berserk, Warcry and Mighty Strikes and pull out your weapon. Hit Maat once or twice and then use Raging Rush, immediatly use your icarus wing and then another Raging Rush. If all goes well, you'll do a fragmentation SC (who says only samurai can do one man SC's?). Maat won't know what hit him! If it doesn't quite kill Maat, start praying you finish him off fast as he will whip out his big guns right away which could quickly finish you.

Monk

When you enter the arena, eat a meat mithkabob and then do the usual sleep to 100% TP trick described above. Similar to warrior, engage Maat, use your best weapon skill, icarus wing and then use it again for mega damage. This will prompt Maat to use Hundred Fists, use yours as well. Pound away at Maat until you're at 100% TP again and then quickly use another WS which should take him down.

Thief

Thieves have another option if the player has not already beaten Maat while on another job. Instead of full out assault (described below), you can win by using your Job Ability to Steal a Scroll of Instant Warp from him.

>>> Steal Strategy <<<

  • A Scroll of Instant Warp is a Rare/Ex item, which you can only have one at a time. Be sure that you do not have one anywhere in your inventory when you face Maat (including your Mog House) otherwise you will not be able to Steal the item from Maat.

  • There is a 10 minute limit to this fight, and Steal has a five minute job ability timer, so the first Steal attempt needs to occur immediately upon entering the arena if there is any hope for there to be enough time for a second chance if Steal fails (which it often will).

  • If Steal is attempted without alternate preparation for a full melee fight, this is an all-or-nothing shot and the player should not expect to survive through the job ability timer. Plan on using some form of re-raiser (Scroll, Potion, Earring, or Hairpin), rest until the job ability timer expires and reattempt immediately before the event timer expires.

  • Maximize your stealing skill (Steal+) and equip quested Artifact (AF) gear (Rogue's Armlets -- +1, Rogue's Bonnet -- +1, Rogue's Culottes -- +1, Rogue's Poulaines -- +2) along with anything else you can find that improves stealing like Thief's Kote -- +3 (replaces Rogue's Armlets), Rabbit Charm -- +1, Rogue's Ring -- +3 (effect active when HP is 75% or lower) and Key Ring Belt -- +1 (all of these items are available at 70 or lower).

  • Only items that modify Steal will influence the chance of success or failure of the Job Ability ... the results are not affected by frequency of use (cannot be "skilled up") nor by any other modifier (STR, DEX, INT, and so on). While there are items above Level 70 that modify Steal, the player cannot wear them without having previously beaten Maat and broken the level limit. (A successful Steal will not end the fight if the player has previously beaten Maat on another job).

>>> Melee Fight <<<

  • Cap your skills for your level, particularly Dagger and Evasion and consider capping Parrying and Shield.
  • Use food -- Squid Sushi (HP +20, Accuracy +15%) and Persikos Au Lait (Regen 4 hp/tick and effect lasts 10 minutes = 800 HP)
  • Use equipment -- Opo-Opo Necklace, Blink Band, Spartan Hoplon (optional - casts Phalanx), Bomb Core / Fire Bomblet / Viking Shield (Attack+)
  • Stock up on medicines - Icarus Wing and Potions -- Vile Elixir (restores 25% HP), Vile Elixir +1 (restores 55% HP), Max-Potion, X-Potion, Hi Potion, Potion (consider using the NQ, +1, +2 or +3 versions). Carry as many potions as you feel you need and macro their use.
  • Equip as much Accuracy+ and Strength+ gear you can find. Macro in any gear that will increase Sneak Attack effectiveness.

>>> Battle Plan <<<

  • Equip your weapon(s) and the Opo-Opo Necklace, Sleep Potion x 4 (or Mary's Milk x 2) for 100% TP (do not change weapons or you will lose your TP).
  • Use Reraise, Blink, Phalanx, Squid Sushi and Persikos Au Lait.
  • Approach, use Sneak Attack, and then attack Maat from behind
  • After the first hit, immediately use Dancing Edge
  • Consume Icarus Wing (to regain 100% TP). This will give a Medicated Status Effect for two hours.
  • After gaining 100% TP, immediately use Dancing Edge. If this is done rapidly enough, it will cause a self skill chain resulting in additional damage from a Detonation effect.
  • Evaluate the situation ... If the player is in the yellow for HP, attempt Steal for best effect (Rogue's Ring is active under 75% HP) and then use a HP+ Potion.
  • After the second Dancing Edge, Maat should have used either Perfect Dodge or Asuran Fists. If Asuran Fists, use Perfect Dodge and then Flee until his Perfect Dodge wears off.
  • Re-engage Maat and build TP to 100% and use the third and final Dancing Edge.
  • At this point Maat should give up if he hasn't already.

  • An alternate strategy is to skill up Marksmanship and use Ranged Attack and land Sleep Bolts, particularly while Maat is under the effect of Perfect Dodge. This will give the player the chance to execute one or more additional Sneak Attack(s) while Maat is asleep. (Note: If you equip the Bomb Core or Fire Bomblet in the ammo slot for Attack+, be sure to macro in a safety to unequip the item before executing the Ranged Attack to avoid actually throwing the hard-to-get / expensive Attack+ item at Maat and losing it permanently.)

  • Be sure not to change weapons until after the second Dancing Edge otherwise you will waste the benefits of the Opo-Opo Necklace and the Icarus Wing.

White Mage

White mage? Solo a tough guy like Maat? Well, fortunately, White Mages don't have to actually beat Maat either. You must simply take a certain amount of damage from him and survive. (how much? It appears to be random from what I've seen, best hope you get the low end of the range). Some re-equipping will be in order here. Now you must equip yourself for defense. Some items of note are phalanx rings, earth staff (Ask your paladin friend if you can borrow his. ^^), and bat earrings. Drink a blind potion to give yourself +30 evasion from the bat earrings (you won't be actually attacking so being blinded makes no difference). Bring along a couple bottles of Yagudo drink, plenty of healing potions, some echo drops and a fish chiefkabob (heh, eating tank food. Never thought you'd see the day?) Now, when you enter, cast all your buffs. Protect, Shell, Stoneskin, Aquaveil and Blink and then rest back to full. (you need all your MP for healing so don't waste it recasting these if they wear off). Eat your food and blind yourself then use Yagudo drink and Regen III on yourself. Now cast Paralyze on Maat to get his attention (if it actually sticks, great! But don't fret if it doesn't) Maat should be hitting you for two digit damage so you should have no trouble keeping your HP up. Don't actually attack him, that gives him more TP which is not good. Don't spam lower cures, wait for HP to get somewhat low and use high end cures. More HP for your MP. Basically, you're doing what a paladin would do. But if you're a taru, mind you don't use cures that heal for more HP than you have either. Don't try to enfeeble Maat and only Cure, Silence, or Paralyze if they are cast on you. If all goes smoothly, you likely won't need Benediction but it's good to keep in mind if Maat gets lucky shots in and you need healing NOW. Just keep taking hits and healing them and Maat will eventually give up.

Black Mage

Do this right, you'll win easy. For good measure, get your INT as high as possible with food and equips. Enter Area, cast your favourite ancient spell, quickly use elemental seal-sleep II on Maat before he can retaliate. Now get him with another ancient spell while he's asleep. Now, bind him so he can't smack you around for nuking him and fire off a regular elemental spell (best one you have). That should finish him off. If all goes well, Maat will never get a shot off at you. ^^

Red Mage

Very commonly considered the hardest of all the Maat fights and for good reason. Chainspell in the hands of an enemy is never a good thing and this time, you don't have the chainspell-stun solution to fall back on. I guess the best defense against a master of cheatery is another master of cheatery. ^^; What's a red mage to do? Luck plays a big role in this fight so say your prayers before doing this. First and foremost, get a wind staff. You'll need it. Get your INT as high as you possibly can, every last point counts. Enter, dash towards Maat, dispel and sleep him immediately. While he's asleep, cast your own buffs, and dispel any and all he has on himself. Nuke Maat with Aero III until you're out of MP, convert, heal youself back up with hi-potions. Now the big guns. Chainspell aero III as fast as you can, Maat will do the same. Chainspell should finish him off. If it doesn't, continue to nuke and hope it's enough. Good luck!

Paladin

Time to show Maat who's the real defender of truth and justice! Mwa ha ha!! (Yes, I'm a paladin. How'd you guess?) Like white mage, some changes in equipment is in order here. You'll want damage dealing equipment instead of tanking but keep the sword and shield, you'll need them. Bring along an Opo-opo necklace, sleep potions, hi-potions, vile elixer or two, yagudo drink and meat mithkabob. Now, when you enter the arena, do the usual routine. Sleep yourself to 100% TP, drink your drink, eat your eats, cast your buffs and move in. Use Sentinel as soon as you engage Maat and then use Rampart when that runs out. Like warrior and monk, use your best WS right off the bat, use the icarus wing and then immediatly hit Maat again with another WS to get some good early damage. But watch out! If he flashes you right away, hold off the WS until the blindness wears off. Now, duel Maat, healing yourself along the way and shield bashing him if he tries to cast Banish III. Maat will eventually use invincible, flash him and kite him when he does this. (don't disengage, that takes too long. Just push L3 to break targeting and run around the room) Just try to stall until Maat's Invincible runs out. If you get a chance to nuke him, do so but watch your MP. When his invincible runs out, now it's your turn! Activate your own invincible and fearlessly charge back in! Attack Maat mercilessly and take this chance to heal yourself up with items. (wouldn't it just rock if Maat used Asuran fists right now? Heh heh!) By the time invincible runs out, you should have another WS ready. Use it and hopefully it will finish him off. If it doesn't, hopefully you brought enough medicine to hold your ground until another WS is ready.

Dark Knight

This is a pretty straightforeward fight actually but it's very important to carry lots of hi-potions and macro them. You'll be using a lot. Like the other melees, use an Opo-opo necklace, sleep yourself to 100% TP, use ws, icarus wing, ws right away. Use def or atk food, your choice. Most of your spells won't be very effective against Maat so don't bother. Just focus on hacking Maat up good. (but always hope he wastes turns using stupid spells like Absorb-CHR) Drain might come in handy but I wouldn't bank on it. Use your hi-potions to keep up your HP as you fight and your attack up skills should be done at your own discretion. The biggest threat is Blood Weapon. When Maat activates it, push L3 to break target lock and run around the room to reduce the number of times he attacks you. You DON'T want him regaining lost HP. once his blood weapon runs out, activate your own take back some of the punishment he's dealt you. (if your HP are still in good shape, this wouldnt' be a bad time to use souleater too) Use WS when they're ready and you should be okay as long as you are ready for anything Maat throws at you. Just beware not to use Guillotine when soul eater is activated or you could very well end up digging your own grave.

Ranger

Another fairly straightforward fight. Only thing to take note of is that Maat will either use Eagle Eye Shot right away or in retaliation to a WS. Moral: if he hasn't used Eagle Eye Shot yet, be careful not to use a ws if you haven't got the HP to take it. Your best bet is to try and tempt him to use it right away while you're still at full HP. Use Shadowbind so he can't melee attack you (and thus possibly use Asuran Fists). Other than that, do the usual Opo-opo necklace sleep to 100% TP, icarus wings and stock up on hi-potions. Fill him up full of firepower and be done with it. A Tracker's Earring helps.

Beastmaster

Not too hard. Bring along a Panzer Ghalad for this fight along with the usual Opo-opo necklace, sleep potions, hi-potions and some def up food (I personally like fish chiefkabobs as a dedicated tank but it's up to you). Okay, sleep yourself to 100% TP, summon your pet and sic it on Maat while you fight Maat's pet but don't use your WS on Maat's pet, that's for Maat himself. once you kill Maat's pet, run out of range, heal yourself back up with hi-potions and let your pet fight Maat to the death. Now run in and hit Maat with rampage. That should send him packing. (as for your 2hr, I suspect using it will prompt Maat to use his as well which could give you trouble. If you don't need to use it, then don't. No need to risk it)

Bard

Max out your sword level for this as Spirits Within will be your best friend here. Bring along the usual melee stuff, Opo-necklace, sleep potions, hi potions along with def food and a stack of Selbina milk. When you enter the arena, watch Maat and see what he's buffing himself with. Eat your food, sleep yourself to 100% Tp and then use your icarus wing which should bring you up to 200% (yeah, little different set up this time). Now, drink your Selbina milk. This is your "finale blocker." If Maat finales you, it will remove the milk effect instead of your songs. Drink another milk if Maat finales you. Use soul voice along with your best songs. Now, use finale on Maat if he has any potentially threatening buffs on (that's why I said to watch what he does when you enter.) and debuff him. Now, hit him with Spirits Within for a strong early hit. Now it's just a matter of fighting him, using WS as they come up. Finale any buffs Maat puts up and drink milk if he finales you.

Samurai

Get ready to amaze even yourself with some fancy WSing. Bring along a few pear au lait, meat mithkabob and some hi-potions. Enter the burning circle and use meditate, making sure to wait for it to recharge before you enter to confront Maat. When you enter, use third eye and use your food and drink. Now, use the following skills: Tachi: Yukikaze > Meikyo Shisui > Tachi: Gekko (Fragmentation) > Meditate > Tachi: Yukikaze > Tachi: Gekko (Fragmentation) > Tachi: Gekko. After the smoke clears, simply continue to duel Maat, drinking potions to keep health up and drink another pear au lait when the first one runs out.

Ninja

Cast Utsusemi: Ni, sleep yourself to 100% and eat your food as normal. The biggest threat is Maat's 2hr for which you must keep your HP above 700 in preparation for. Enter the arena. Maat will have Utsusemi: Ni on so don't unleash your WS until you've killed his shadows. Hit Maat with Blade: Chi or ten then proceed to Paralyze, Slow and Blind Maat. At all times, keep your HP above 700 so Maat's 2hr doesn't kill you. Once that's past, it's straightforward from there on.

Dragoon

Bring along a fish chiefkabob, a stack of hi potions, sleep potions and some Selbina milk. Use the sleep potions and Opo-necklace to get your TP up like always. Summon your wyvern and use your food and drink. Now, engage Maat and hit him five times or so and he will summon his wyvern. By this time, you should have 100% TP. Penta thrust Maat's wyvern but don't change targets, this will prompt your wyvern to breath on Maat. Jump and high jump, hit Maat a few times then use super jump and then immediatly break target and turn away from Maat (so you're engaged still but not attacking Maat). Maat and your wyvern will be locked in battle and with some luck, your wyvern will finish him off for you. If it doesn't, turn around and take him out yourself. He should be near death by now.

Summoner

Short fight but it's all or nothing. When you enter, use Earthen Ward and Aerial Armor on yourself and get your MP back to full before confronting Maat and drink a Yagudo drink. Bring out whichever avatar is strongest on the current day (or Fenrir if you have him) and immediately use Astral Flow, refill your MP with ethers quickly and use Astral Flow again as soon as it's ready. That should take out Maat. If Maat uses Astral Flow himself, you will not survive. You simply have to be quicker at the draw, nothing more to it.

Hello, thought i would add what I did, killed maat on 2nd attempt and I OWNED maat. first off i was lvl 69 so i had Aero III. First time I tried to fight Maat i did the unequip armor like everyone says to do. I saw no benefit in doing this and Maat wooped up on me. 2nd time (within 1 hour of first time) I fought maat on watersday ( everyone says to do on darksday or windsday). I only took 3 yag drinks with me and 3 Hi potions +3 ( i should mention im taru so MP was not as much of a challenge for me as it was for others, you may want to get a melon pie+1 or similiar otherwise). Now, I was irritated from getting my butt handed to me first time that when I went to the circle I just rushed after maat. I casted Sleep II ( w/ dark staff equiped) while maat was casting Aquaveil and while he was slept I buffed Stoneskin>phalanx>refresh>yag drink. I only made 2 macros, one for equiping wind staff /wait 1 then cast Aero III and one for equiping dark staff and healing. When i was buffed I hit him with a Aero III then sleep II right after. I did this until Maat was 1/2 health then he used Chainspell and I slept him immediately. Maat only landed 1 Stone III on me. After this sleep I converted, drank hi potion +3 and 1 more yag drink, rebuffed and rested for awhile til his chainspell was close to wearing off. To play it safe I did 2 more sessions of Aero III and sleep. After these 2 more sessions I used chainspell and Aero III Maat into next week, Maat hit me with one more Stone III in between my chaining of Aero III but since i rebuffed stoneskin and phalanx it didnt do much damage. Maat got defeated around 4 mins 20 secs and my HP never reached yellow. Maat was Owned. Its probably better idea to fight him on darksday then any other day but becuase of my enfeebling and elemental magic capped I didnt have any problems on watersday. If your not taru im sure taking food with MP bonus is important as well. 1 for 2 on Maat (^_^) and I cant wait to own him with blm now too which is 62 and considerably easier than the rdm fight!! Good luck and please pimp slap maat for me when you try!!

i finally took out the old bugger. 2 attempts.

first attempt i admittedly went in w/o prepping beyond food. yeah, i half-@ssed it and got my entire @ss handed to me with a smirk. used my standard macro selection... yeah i sort of deserved to lose that one.

second attempt i was MUCH more dilligent. i over-prepped, if such could be done. multiple hi-pot +3's, a couple Pear au laits, ica wing... heck i even took Sanction with Regen just to see if it would help (i didnt notice any effect, btw so maybe dont waste your IP trying that). i did up a new macro set with JA's in order of succession. i didnt take a stoneskin torque nor an opo-opo neck. granted i WAS still a little cocky thinking Sam wouldnt need them. ran up next to Maat, geared, Medi, fooded, let medi regen (i wasnt worried about breaking the best time)when Medi regen was at 1:10, i hit 3rd Eye, waited 50 or so seconds, drank au lait, engaged.. 3rd eye took first hit, i hit 3rd Eye again then went into WS spree... only MY macro for the first ws set screwed up so arg.. manual 2hr and ... well, lets just say things went to hell when my macro screwed up.

in the end, i only pulled 3 WS, none of which SC'd due to macro ***** up and lifesaving potion guzzling, and 2 maybe 3 normal gkt hits. it was enough to pass the genkai... with me at 175hp. haha.

lesson is.. no matter the planning involved you HAVE to be able to compensate swiftly when things go awry... there is absolutely no time to stand there and go "huh?.. why that not work?.." once you've engaged Maat.

this, of course, is from a Sam perspective.

Went in using standard exp setup except for Royal Knights Shield (the one with the +2 STR) and a balance ring instead of herc ring (2 dex instead of 2 emnity). Went in naked, equiped my gear, buffed up with Pro IV Shell III Blink Band, did the sleep to 100tp, drank hp and mp drinks, used carborona for food, and then engaged. Hit him with swift blade, and then used icarus wing. Used a few hi pots and eye drops when he flashed. He never used any WS, but did Maat Bash on me several times (alot more then if he was on Shield Bash timer). His regular hits were about 40-60 with shield blocks being about half 20-30, and his maat bash being about a 100. I think the record was something like 6min, and my total time was like 8min. Was down to about 600hp when we were done, never 2hrd, and neither did he. I think I WS 2 more times after initial oppo oppo sleep and icarus wing. As far as medicines/items I brought to the fight were 15-20 Hi Pots, pro ether, vile elixer, hp drink, yag drink, carbarona, reraise gorget, 5 sleeping pots, oppo oppo necklace, icarus wing, and blink band

1/1 Maat, RDM 70 <Mithra>.

I originally wanted to go on Darksday for better results on Sleep I/Sleep II sticking, but couldn't wait and went on Windsday, instead.

When Maat transported me to the BC, I popped a Marron Glace and full healed. By now, I was really shakey. I didn't wanna go solo Ruby Quadav again for my Testimony >.>

I entered with most of my equips on, just nothing for Fingers, Waist, Back, or Main Weapon (didn't know if that'd actually do anything, but gave it a try anyway).

As soon as I got in the battlefield, I macroed my equips on, charged straight for Maat, and cast Sleep II. "Resist!" Okay then...Sleep I, "Maat is asleep". Next I went Stoneskin > Yagudo Drink > Dispel > Blink > Dispel > Bind > <Run Away!> > Aero III > Sleep. I did the Bind/Sleep/Nuke method until he was almost half way.

At this point Maat was asleep again and I Converted (and macro changed for MP + gear), recast Stoneskin and Blink, cured myelf with Cure IV and Cure III, and used another Yagudo Drink. I bound Maat again, Chainspelled and Aero III'd a few times. Maat Chainspelled, too, and actually landed a Paralyze on me while Aero IIIing, in which I then started to /panic, again.

Note: After Converting, I actually forgot to macro in my INT + gear, and just used my MP + gear.

"Dimples is paralyzed." "Dimples is paraylyzed." "Dimples is paralyzed." WHYYYY MAAT!? WHYYYY!? A few seconds later, and excessive Aero III macro pushing, I finally landed one on him, popped a Vile Elixer +1, and finished him off with one or two more Aero IIIs.

I finished in 4 minutes and 51 seconds. None of my magic skills were capped, although Elemental Skill and Enfeebling Skill were near the cap. Sleep II was only resisted once (in the very beginning), while Sleep I was never resisted.

Maat never used Asuran Fists or any other Weapon Skills on me. I never casted Phalanx, Protect IV, or Shell IV either (or any Protect or Shell) as I felt it would be a waste of MP. Never bothered with Gravity, either.

just won this today and it was awesome!

in short, even if u don't use opo-opo u can still win. just keep calm. consider rune axe with yugado drink and valkrie mask (+10mp for your mp pool) this gives -1mp/sec (rune axe) and +3mp/3sec (yugado drink) rune axes are dirt cheap and the latent bonus is awesome.

went in with
main:rune axe
head:valkrie mask
ammo:long boomerang
neck:royal guard collar
earrings: assualt earring, evasion earring
body:haubergon
hands:spike finger gaunlets,
rings:victory ring, assailent's earring
back:amemit mantle +1,
waist:life belt,
legs:royal knight breeches
feet:leaping boots. (trusted since lvl 7)
elvaan, great axe skill: 251 (boyahda tree steelshells)

12 blinding potions, opo-opo necklace, icarus wings, vile elixer+1, meat mithkabob, yugado drink

went in naked, started battle, equipped the opo-opo necklace and drank a blinding potion. nearly died of horror when i realised i needed to SLEEP to activate it. used a icarus wing hoping it would cooldown fast enough. waited 7 mins (time limit 10 mins), the icarus wing couldn't be used again so i went in.
re-equipped necklace, drank a yugado drink, hit maat once, hit marco 1 and 2. hacked maat till i had 50% tp, drank vile elixer+1, at 80% tp mighty strikes ran out, at 100% tp, agressor + warcry ran out. i nearly screamed. hit him with 2nd raging rush (did 362 damage i nearly screamed again)and he died(couldn't believe last 362 damage killed him). total got him 2600-2700 damage total. 366hp remaining.
in retrospec, could have killed him in 90 secs flat if i just ran in.

marco 1 (note, the longest lasting job skill comes first)

I'm posting this because when I went in to fight Maat the first two times there wasn't a lot of information around for the Dragoon Maat fight. Having experienced two beatdowns at two different levels I finally got it right. The first time I was level 66. The second time I was level 67. And (as cliche' as it sounds) the third time was the charm at lvl 68. The following is what I did my third time around.

NOTE: I am the current record holder of this fight on Phoenix Server at 4 minutes and 37 seconds (at least until it resets >_<;)

I am very superstitious so I traded my test to Maat naked XD Entered the Burning Circle naked, then equiped my gear.

Buff Gear, Food, & Meds: (After entering the Burning Circle.)
Opo-Opo Necklace (Combined with sleep potions to get to 100% TP)
Blink Band (YOU WANT TO USE THIS! TRUST ME!)
Meat Chiefkabob
Icarus Wing

Weapon: (Equip this BEFORE using the Sleep Potions!)
Grand Knight's Lance

Fight Gear: (After I was at 100% TP and had used Blink Band)
Happy Egg
Walkure Mask
Feral Jerkin
Feral Gloves
Feral Trousers
Drachen Greaves
Deft Ring x2
Spike Earing x2
Merman's Gorget (Yes, I do have a Spike Necklace but used this instead.)
Life Belt
Amemet Mantle

The Battle:(From enter to exit this is how I did it.)
1) Called Wyvern.
2) Equiped Grand Knight's Lance, Opo-Opo Necklace and Blink Band.
3) Used Sleep Potions to gain 100% TP then equiped my Merman's Gorget (I recommend setting a macro for the potions before entering the Burning Circle. It took about 4 potions.)
4) Used Blink Band then equiped my Walkure Mask.
5) Equiped all my other gear.
6) Used a Meat Chiefkabob
7) Opened the Cermet Door and entered the area. (Don't go too far in or Maat will rush you. Instead initiate the attack before getting close that way you can fire off your weapon skill when you move in right off the bat.)
8) Used Penta Thrust. (In my previous Maat encounters I tried others but believe me this is the best one to use >_<;)
9) Maat summoned wyvern...I ignored his wyvern. (Last time I attacked his wyvern and tried to attack Maat again I got a "Must wait longer to attack that target." message, then got Comboed by Maat for 800+ dmg. Yes, Combo. Yes, I checked more than once to make sure >_<;)
10) Used Icarus Wing. Hit Maat again with Penta Thrust.
11) Blink Band wears off.
12) Spirit Surge! Then Jumped and High Jumped.
13) My HP now at 609/1012. TP 80%!
14) Hit him a few more times. HP down to 334/1012
15) TP -----> 100%! Used Penta Thrust! Maat goes down! (Heheheh his wyvern is still floating around but you don't have to kill it. I just got warped out to the Quicksand Caves area.)

And that's what I did :D

Just to Clarify a Few Things:
My character is Hume.
I was level 68.
My Polearm skill was less than 240 (Which is why I think I was only Comboed the first time and not Asuran Fisted. This would support the "Maat has the same stats as you theory." At level 68 it is possible to have 240 as a weapon skill level.)
I did not attack Maat's wyvern.
I did not use any Hi or Mega Potions.
This is an account of what I personally did as a means to offer guidance. By no means do you need the same gear or need to do the same things.

On a Side Note: Only about 20 level 75 Dragoons on my server of about 3,000 people. That makes me sad ; ;

"The Few. The Proud. The Dragoons."

Cheap way to beat Maat as Monk
# Aug 01 2006 at 11:27 AM Rating: Decent
OK, so I beat Maat as Monk 2nd try, but I died at the end lol. Anyway, my strategy was:

1. Get to level 70 for tiger mask, bought it for 8k. Gives good defense stats, -5 eva though but he was still missing me!

2. Get Tigerfangs, bought it for 10k.

3. Sleep to 100 TP with Sleep Potions, about 5k each, I bought a stack for like 48k. I only needed 4 though.

4. Eat sole sushi, boost to pretty close to max, focus, dodge, HF at start. I definitely think u gotta HF at start, cause u gotta dmg him quick. I wouldn't do it after he HF.

5. Chi Blast that fool.

6. Raging Fists. Period. Hit him for 400+

7. Well, I actually didn't do this step cause I forgot to buy TP wing lol I thought I did. Well, if u bought TP wing use it here and use any good dmg WS.
Note: If he HF, use Counterstance right after and do Shoulder Tackle.

8. If u didn't get TP wing, u got a pretty good chance still, wait till he HF then Counterstance. Shoulder Tackle when u got TP, then Chakra when u close to death. I forgot to do this and I died at the end, but I still won. Here's what I mean. http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n300/gillllberg/pol2006-07-3118-51-32-73.jpg

Just a note for you Dragoons.

ALTHOUGH SJ is taken away, do NOT sub a mage job.

Your wyvern will NOT use an elemental breath.

And Blink bands own.

Fought maat about 5 minutes ago as 69 DRG. Easy enough fight, didnt have any trouble.
I brought along : Opo-Opo Necklace, 4x Sleeping Potion, Blink Band, 1x X-Potion, and Sole Sushi for food .
Strategy was simple : Gained TP with necklace and pots and used blink band, ran in and whacked maat until he called his wyvern, then i engaged it, jumped, and killed it on my first hit; then i switched back over to maat, penta thrusted him, and super-jumped. Used my X-potion to regain some hp (Btw bad idea, potions grab hate, luckily not much) and used blink band again. I then waited til my wyvern was at 5% or so HP and Spirit Surged. I turned around and penta thrusted him again, boom, maat was dead.

If you encounter problems remember: as long as your wyvern was summoned 20min beforehand, you can call wyvern again. I never used high jump, but i should've probably high jumped him after using spirit surge to get rid of his TP.

Hope that helps :P
Maat RDM Fight

Beat Maat as RDM 69 on Windsday with a more offensive strategy than I have seen posted on here so I thought I would share it (thanks Amuleki and Alemir). Used a Rolanberry Pie in RuLude Gardens, healed to full. Had Maat send me to the burning circle.

As many have said, it is very important to sprint up to Maat as fast as you can. If he gets up Blink you're gonna have a bad time.

In the circle I did chainspell, stoneskin, Aero III x3. At this point Maat was hitting me and I was at ~100 mp. Cast sleep 2, converted, cure 4'd. Moved back a ways. Then finished with Aero 3's, no med's required. I had a vile elixir but never got the chance to use it. 3 seconds off the record of 1:18 by Complex on Midgard (don't know how you did it but congrats!)

But remember that luck will always be involved in the Rdm Maat fight, especially if you don't go in loaded up with meds. If sleep 2 doesn't stick, don't panic, just go for sleep 1. If that doesn't stick then it's time to panic :)

Also... Maat will use Asuran Fists at lv 67, 68, 69. He also used Aero 3 at those levels so don't expect him to match your level. Dirty ******* also used Diaga 2 (during his chainspell which I was grateful for). Int is very important along with maximizing your mp pool. Had wind staff / dark staff / light staff, spider torque / black neckerchief, phantom earring, cunning earring, zircon rings, phantom tathlum, full af minus hands for engineer's gloves, legs for hume rse (for the bigger mp pool), and feet for hume rse (for added int).

Hope this helps someone.
MAAT question answers
# Jul 20 2006 at 8:22 PM Rating: Decent
1) You only lose exp if you've already completed the quest.

2) He can and will use Asuran Fists, at any level. He does not always use Asuran Fists as soon as possible, but usually in retaliation to one of your weapon skills or job abilities. When i did LB5 as thief, i failed steal the first time, reraised, and then stole again, and succeded... but he used asuran fists and killed me anyway. was lv66.

3) I dont think equipment plays a role in how hard he is, but he might have the same skill levels, ie evasion, enfeebling, whatever... when i did it as THF, my evasion was far from capped and i was hitting him a lot considering he was an equal level thief-type.... old guy...

i'm guessing the easiest way to beat SAM LB5 would be to:

meditate
wait till meditate is ready again
1. Yukikaze (300-400)
two hour
2. Gekko (500-700)(+100-300)
meditate
3. Yukikaze (300-400)
4. Gekko (500-700)(+100-300)
5. Yukikaze (300-400)
icarus wing
6. Gekko (500-700)(+100-300)

Just beat this old fart on my 69 WHM. Went in naked with Scorpion Rings +1 to lower his melee acc (couldn't hurt to try), equipped my earth staff, regular AF, Bat earrings, phalanx rings, and gulped down a blinding potion and a yagudo drink, buffed up (AQUAVEIL IMPORTANT), then started the fight with slow and paralyze. He actually still hits pretty hard, and I did have to get off my two hour. In the end I had only 80 HP and 0 MP (I forgot to eat my defense food lmao) and started running in circles, until I heard the glorious words of 'well done'. So, I guess auto-refresh helped in beating him, since you need to heal a certain ammount of HP before he gives up. So incredibly lucky! My time for the fight was 8 minutes 1 second, with the record at 6 minutes 17 seconds. Not too hard, I was just a fool for not eating the defense food at the beginning ;x

It's all about the Tacos
# Jun 19 2006 at 4:00 PM Rating: Decent
So I'm 1/3 as a WHM with Maat. All three at lvl 70.

The biggest difference seems to be the tanking food.

The first two times I did this I lost cuz I wasn't healing fast enough. He killed me with a lowly COMBO both times when I was in the red. I had only brought regular potions and was casting C4 in the red. Bad idea. I was also eating Fish Mithakabobs which were OK but an LS friend told me there is much better food. (I'm a WHM, who knew?)

The last and successful time I used a Tav taco and brought Hi potions in addition to regular potions. I started using the potions and hi potions almost immediately and cast C3 when they weren't keeping up. When Maat threw a COMBO I quickly cast C4 and I was back in the white. I kept my HP in the white and top of yellow for most of the fight. C5 is a complete waste of effort for this fight. At lvl 70 I had like 854 HP. You DON'T want to wait until you're 250-300 to start casting Cures.

A friend loaned me his Noble's and Blessed gear (Thx Saarek!) and the refresh helped as well as the additional MP. I didnt keep my buffs up when they wore but did keep blinded for the bat earrings and refreshed with the yagudos.

All other stuff was pretty standard (earth staff, phalanx rings) I also went naked except with DEX down gear on and Maat actually missed a few times. I had Pro-ether just in case but didnt need it. (It's all about HP so why bring something that gives you MP which you then need to convert to HP?)

The food and the noble's tunic made the difference in my mind. When Maat gave up I still had 1/3 of my MP and I had not cast Bene or Divine Seal. I also had more than half of my potions left.

The Taco made a HUGE difference, +20 HP/MP +12 VIT and +60 to DEF. They were 12K for ONE on Fairy but I encourage all the WHMs to save up to buy this one item, if anything, for the fight.

Good luck to all the girls out there!

Decided to give Maat a shot the moment the party I was in disbanded, which happened about 2,500 exp into level 66. I asked a paladin friend of mine if she had any vitality rings, and all she had on her was a vit+2 and a vit+3 ring. Ahh well, decided to give it a crack anyway.

Went to my mog safe and pulled out some gear I'd been accumulating for the fight. These items were mainly vit boosting gear. Headed back to Jeuno and threw in macros for Vit Gear, Mind Gear, Items (yagudo drinks, hi-potions, echo drops, the vile elixir +1 I had sitting collecting dust), Cure III/IV, Regen III, and Flash.

Went in to fight Maat totally naked, threw on my vit gear, equipped the Phalanx Shield whm can equip, the vit+7 enchanted neckpiece, and buffed up with Protect IV and Shell III. I healed my mp back, chugged a yag drink, ran up and switched to Mind gear, then hit Maat with a Slow, which didn't stick despite having roughly +45 mind.

Basically the fight was quite sloppy. The first 3 cures I casted were Cure Vs, as I had made my macros a little rushed. I never ate any food, my evasion hadn't been capped, I didn't do the blind + evasion earrings thing. I also didn't realize until about 2/3 into the fight that I wasn't having time to equip the earth staff between cures using the light staff, which resulted in me getting hit for roughly 100 per normal hit. Luckily, Maat only did One Inch Punch, and then Tackle with his TP, and casted Blink at one point in the middle of the fight. This allowed me to cast Regen 3 on myself, which wound up saving the day. First I ran out of Hi-potions, then I used Benediction, then I used up my Divine Seal. Eventually I was down in dark orange hp and only had enough mp for a cure ii. Luckily, after a final hit which brought me down to under 100hp, and down to 9mp, Maat congratulated me on a job well done. When all was said and done, I'd beaten him pretty much the earliest level possible as a taru, in 7:51.

In retrospect, I made a bunch of mistakes:
1. - The phalanx shield and vitality +7 neck piece both lose their enchantment when you unequip them. Bringing them to this battle was actually pointless.
2. - I never ate any food. Should Maat have decided to use Asuran Fists, I would have been done in 1 shot.
3. - I casted 2 Cure Vs when only a Cure III's amount of hp was missing. This wasted precious mp and made the cast time longer. Luckily, one of Maat's 2 spell interruptions was during Cure V.
4. - I never casted Aquaveil before entering the fight.

After getting that experience under my belt, I would recommend the following to all 66-70 white mages:

1. - Bring an Earth/Terra Staff to the fight. Also, see if you can get any vit rings from paladin friends.
2. - Equip the bat earrings and bring a blinding potion or two. Evasion doesn't help you heal any quicker, but it will cut down on the chances of losing too much hp quickly.
3. - Borrow cure clogs from any whm friends you have, and put them in your curing macro. Alternatively, just use your WHM AF duckbills. Cure Clogs will let you cast cure spells in only 85% of their normal time, or the AF duckbills will lower your spell interruption rate by 20%.
4. - Make sure you eat some tank food before engaging Maat. The best food for this fight is a Tavnazian taco, which will give you the same +25% def most other tank foods give, but it also gives a nice +20 hp/mp and vit boost higher than other tank food.
5. - Time your cures. Any whm with extensive soloing time knows that if you cast while an enemy is just about to or currently hitting you, the chances of interruption are at their lowest. Don't just cast Cure as quick as possible.. wait for Maat to just about throw the next punch before worrying about casting that spell. Waiting 1-2 seconds for this is much better than getting interrupted and waiting for the spell to be able to be cast again.
6. - Use a Medicine Ring. They're cheap, whm only, and will give you a 10% boost to your cures while you're in yellow or lower health. My own fight, I was in yellow 90% of the fight.

In conclusion, the cut-off seems to be around 4,000 HP healed. If you have any gear that had a regen status to it (Garden Bangles, etc), definitely keep it equipped. The name of the game is curing hp, so all you really need to do is keep your defense and vitality high enough to not die from melee and also keep your mp high enough to continue healing what he chips away from you. In my fight, it was an almost non-stop Cure IIIfest, so having 2 sets of gear was pretty pointless.

My recommendation for a single set of gear (for level 66) would be:
-Main: Earth/Terra Staff
-Secondary: N/A
-Ranged: N/A
-Ammo: Bibiki Shell
-Head: Healer's Cap
-Neck: Memento Muffler (use enchantment)
-L.ear: Bat Earring (use blinding potion on yourself)
-R.ear: Bat Earring (use blinding potion on yourself)
-Body: Healer's Briault
-Hands: Garden/Ferronia Bangles
-L.Ring: Chrysoberyl/Vigor Ring
-R.Ring: Medicine Ring
-Back: Republican Army Mantle
-Waist: Powerful Rope (or Ice Belt for +20 wind, which means more resistant to silence)
-Legs: Healer's Pantaloons
-Feet: Cure Clogs

WHM maat

Well, just finished this as 70WHM. went in not really knowing what to expect other than the guide, so I figured I'd fail once and try for real next but it was just so damn easy that I went the whole way this time.

Had double Bat earrings but didn't blind myself, had a few Yagudo Drinks but never popped one.

I brought my AF, MND rings.. basically everything XP party except my Earth Staff from PLD. Went in without getting naked and buffed with everything I could do. Prot, Shell, Aquaveil, Stoneskin, and Blink. popped a Tavnazian Taco (also from PLD) and went in to pull with Paralyze. it stuck (but only proc'd twice) and I just stood there taking hits. He did 56-90 damage each hit, but the hits were so slow I had no trouble picking up cures inbetween. Silenced me once, I popped an Echo Drop by reflex but whatev. I kept waiting for his infamous Asuran Fists but he only used One Inch Punch @33%MP so I figured I'd go for it. hit 14 mp and prepared to use potions (I had a single Hi-pot and an X-pot) but no need, he cancelled the fight at 3804 damage(plus whatever dia II did over time.) simple as cake.

I'm a tarutaru named Kyodai on Bismarck server if you want to tell me what an *** I've been over this whole post XD

(Edited for spelling and to make less of a mess out of it)

RDM Elvaan Maat = Pwned
# Jun 13 2006 at 3:46 PM Rating: Decent
RDM Maat is bad enough, but adding the fact that I am an Elvaan and had a distinct disadvantage with INT and MP did not help. It took me 3 tries, but I finally beat him. And on the final showdown, I totally owned him.

Here was my gear:

RDM AF Body/Legs/Head
Wood Ledelsens
Magna Gloves
Red Cap +1
Spider Torque
R.K. Belt
Dark/Wind/Ice Staffs
Zircon Rings x 2
Ether Ring
Electrum Ring
Moldavite Earings x 2
Vile Elixir, Vile Elixir +1
Yaguda Drink
Crimson Jelly (kind of expensive, but worth it)

Create macros that swap out rings, staffs, etc. to maximize effects of buffs and nukes.

Some people say go on darksday to make sleep stick, some people say go on windsday for added bonus to Aero III. I won on darksday.

Eat the jelly before entering the BCNM and heal to full. Enter the BCNM and run right in and sleep him, Dispel x2, Stoneskin, Blink, Bind, Refresh and pop a yaguda drink and a vile elixir. Then run a safe distance away from him to avoid his melee attacks when he wakes. Drop an Aero III on him to wake him up and immediately sleep him. Aero III and sleep him until you get him down to about 1/2 strength. Make sure you wait a bit between nukes to make sure your Sleep is back up and you recover some MP from refresh/yaguda drink, plus run away to maximimum nuking distance. By then you will probably have sparked his Chainspell. Sleep him when he does that. When he is sleeping Convert, Cure IV x2 and then drop the vile elixir +1, Chainspell and spam Aero III until he quits.

Some people say bring remedy, echo drops and hi-ethers (which I did) but I never used them.

Ok Maat kicked my **** 3 times mainly due to me not paying attention and just watching hp gauges...

Any way just set the record on Leviathan 2 min 24 sec. w00t

walk in nekkid, equip, use Squid Sushi, Icarus Wing, and get band ready.

Run up to get him in sight. Use the Blink band.

/ja "Shadowbind"
/ja "Sharpshot"
/ws "Slug Shot"
/ja "Barrage"
/throw
/ja "Eagle Eye Shot"
/ws "Slug Shot"

and that was it... Its about time. Now I can do it all again as a THF in 8 lvls =)

Alright, beat him last night with 68 whm. it was incredibly easy. I grilled my 75 whm friends and was confident in my knowledge. so my blm friend lent me his earth staff, and i bought a phalanx ring (they only had 1 phalanx ring in so i just used my Astral Ring)and the rest of me gear was all normal xp gear. I went in with a stack of echo drops (never had to use em) 2 blinding potions (only used 1) 2 yag drinks (both were used) a steamed crab (inexpensive and nice def) and 20 Hi-Potions (My friend told me to get 20 which I thought was a bit much but I used all of them and really much better then Cure II) last part of battle prep I made a macro set for all my spells and Items and Bene (never had to two hour either ^^)

So I'm ready. I go to maat, unequip my gear, trade the testy, and go into the BC. I re-equip all my gear, buff up (Protect IV, Shell IV, Stoneskin, Aquaveil, Blink, Haste, Regen III), and rest for MP (I forgot to bring my dark staff so I had to rest for a bit longer) I then eat my food, Blind myself for the +30 eva from bat earrings, and run up and cast paralyze (didnt stick.)

Now most people like to kite him but my friends told me to stay still so I did that. let him beat me up a bit using Hi-Potions every few secs, and when the damage began to over whelm the Hi-Potions I cast Cure III or IV. I did keep aquaveil up, but all the other buffs I let fall. one thing that shows how incredibly lucky I was on this fight, is he never used Asuran Fists on me, only combo. So 9:38 sec in Maat gives up! ^^

Hope you guys are ready for a good laugh...
well i just hit lvl 70 whm and i was really proud and ready to go to work on Matt...For 1 i didnt know what to do in my 1st match with him, so i did what a normal whm would do. i did de-equipt my armor prior to speaking with Matt. here is the funny part, i ate a rollingberry pie and that was it. In the process of being completly nervous i forgot to cast protect, shell, blink, stoneskin ext... and got rocked in a few seconds! this whole time my heart was pounding so HARD i thought i was on the verg of a heart attack while i was fighting Matt. Needless to say i loss badly and was made fun of.
so here goes round 2, this time i asked My LS for some advice and i got it. so i get to Matt and he warps me to the BC so i go in and this time i wasnt as excited since i was wooped last time. i casted protect 4 and shell 4 and this time i had a tacos, my 2 bat earrings and blinding pots, vile elixirs and yag drinks... also i didnt even bother to rest and wait til my MP was filled i just went balls out... so im running in circles and again my heart is freaken POUNDING cuz i do not want to loose again, i managed to cast 1 cure then it was over, Matt seemed to not like that and he silenced me and at that point i realized i did not have Echo drops RLMAO!! so i couldnt cast a thing and i was silenced the whole fight (all 3 minutes). i was so angry with myself for being a goober aka noob... Now this time i was determined NOT to loose, at work i jumped onto this website (godsent) and read up (i really dont know why i didnt in the first place) ok so i go and get yet another test for this irritating Matt fight. This time i de-equipt all my armor, so far so good, i spoke to Matt and he warped me to the circle. i justed in and started casting protect 4, shell 4, blink, stoneskin, aquaveil and started to rest mean while Matt is bobbong and weaving like a boxer waiting to beat the sh*t out of me!! literaly!! i finally got full MP (my heart again is POUNDING and feels like its going to pop) so i stand and cast regen 3 and now paralyze and silence on Matt. Now the running ******** starts, im going in circles running like forest gump after jenny and Matt is punching and kicking me from behind, now im down into RED HP and i cast a cure 5 while he was casting diaga on me. then running continues til i needed to self cure but he punches me in the mouth and the cast stops so i used my vile elixir and ran some more. Again im back in the red and scared that i will not be able to cast cure but i got lucky that he stopped to cast banishag 3 on me so that gave my just enough time to complete the spell. so again the running continues and now its been like 5 mins and now still my heart is pounding and my friend is throwing small rocks at my window to get my attension. i start yelling "just open the freaken door" over and over after ever rock that is thrown, meanwhile im still running and in all this panic i went down to like 75 hp from not paying complete attension to the TV so i remembered about my 2hr and used it then about 8min and 37 sec. the whole thing stops and i realized he finally gave up and i won. i jumped up and cheered like i was in a Toyota commercial... WOOOT YA !!!! so all in all i never self blinded myself to get the +30 eva, no earth staff or DEF rings and I only used 1 yag drink, 1 vile elixir, 1 benediction (becuz i paniced and it helped me calm down)and used Cure 5 about 5-6 times to save MP... hope my funny and long story will help as i won and the whole time i felt like a complete noob trying to learn how to plat the game from scratch!! this is Milos on the bizmark server. ENJOY!!

I went as WAR70 with Colossal Axe+1, Hauberk+1, Emporer Hairpin, other WAR AF pieces, 2 Victory rings, Assault Earring, Drone Earing, Swordbelt+1, Amemet Mantle+1, Spike necklace.
Supplies Blink band, Opo Opo necklace, 12 sleep potion, Vile elixir+1, Vile elixir, 26 Hi-Potion+3
Great Axe skill only 200, enough for Raging Rush.

First time:
Did all the recommended things, ate Meat and slept to 275TP, (not 300TP because I was starting to sweat on the timer). First WS hits for 1421 but my second WS missed and I got no skill chain. I did Maat 2218 DMG, he hit me for 2722 DMG and I was booted by the timer. I didnt die but I was as good as dead with about 100 HP and he was just winding up for Asuran fists.

Second time:
Reasoned I needed more accuracy so I loaded on accuracy at the expense of attack, ate Squid Sushi and slept to 100TP (worried about the timer).
I did this because I reasoned I would have won if my second WS had hit.
First WS hit for 854, 2nd WS hit for 447, Skill Chain 134. I hit Maat for total 2324 and he hit me for 2561. I died. I think I did it all right but I was too weak.

Third time:
Slept to 225TP, ate Meat, loaded on attack exactly as first attempt. My first WS hit for 973. Then I hit the wrong macro and ate a Vile Elixir instead of Icarus Wing ..dooh. Eat Wing and second Weapon Skill does 951 damage.... no skill chain. One more hit on Maat and I win anyway. I hit Maat for 2688 total, he hit me for only 656. These were my hits
196,973,185,196,951,187.

So, the advice for WAR is excellent, but you dont have to follow the script exactly to win.
