Mission Orders

The first mothercrystal has been tainted with Emptiness. Hurry to the remaining crags to find out if any other stones have met the same fate.

Walkthrough

This mission will be activated once you have defeated one of the first three Promyvion bosses. It does not matter which one.

About Promyvion

Promyvion is made up of four areas: Promyvion - Dem, Promyvion - Holla, Promyvion - Mea, and Promyvion - Vahzl. You need not concern yourself with Promyvion - Vahzl until PM 5-2 Desires of Emptiness. The first three Promyvion areas have a level cap of 30. As of the September 2008 version update[1], you do not have to wear level appropriate gear in a level capped zone, however it may be recommended for optimum performance. To enter a Promyvion zone, enter the Hall of Transference through a shattered telepoint at one of the three crags. Once inside, check the large apparatus to the left. At this point, you will be able to enter that zone.

Note: If you do not complete that Promyvion by defeating the boss at the end, you will need to check the large apparatus again to erase your memory in order to enter a different Promyvion.

The Promyvion zones are broken up into four "floors," each with increasingly tougher mobs called Emptiness. All emptiness are True Sight, so sneak and Invisible are useless. It is commom practice to avoid fighting them as much as possible, especially on the higher levels where they are typically much tougher than anything a normal level 30 party would be able to safely handle. It is advisable to carry with you a Reraise Earring. It also wouldn't hurt to have someone in your party with Tractor, just in case.

Traversing Promyvion

As previously mentioned, Promyvion zones are broken up into 4 "floors." To travel from one floor to the next, you must find and defeat the correct Memory Receptacle. Memory Receptacles are usually surrounded by special Emptiness called Strays. Strays are very easy to defeat, but can quickly become a problem in large numbers. Additionally, Memory Receptacles spawn Strays in regular intervals, so it is advisable to have a member of the party dedicated to killing them while the rest of the part is fighting the Memory Receptacle. Common practice is for someone with ranged attacks, like a Ranger or Samurai, to take care of this. Once the correct Memory Receptacle is defeated, a portal will appear that will take you to the next floor. Occasionally, you will encounter a "fake" Memory Receptacle, which after defeating will not cause a portal to appear. At the end of the fourth floor is the entrance to a spire, in which is the entrance to the battle field where you will fight the boss.

Promyvion Bosses

It is advisable to do the quest Empty Memories to obtain Psychoanima, Hysteroanima, and Terroanima, which will make the fights with the bosses significantly easier.

Promyvion - Dem Boss

Progenerator, a Gorger type mob, is the boss of Promyvion - Dem. Progenerator has the following moves:

  • Fission - calls out a pet, Offspring
  • Quadratic Continuum - Standard damage attack
  • Spirit Absorption - Drains 200 HP
    • This attack ignores shadows
  • Stygian Flatus - AoE Paralyze attack
  • Promyvion Barrier - Defense boost
  • Vanity Drive - Directional AoE damage attack
When you defeat Progenerator, you will receive the key item Light of Dem and be warped back outside.

Promyvion - Holla Boss

Wreaker, a Thinker type mob, is the boss of Promyvion - Holla. Wreaker has the following moves:

  • Empty Cutter - Single target physical damage attack
  • Negative Whirl - AoE Ice damage attack
  • Shadow Spread - AoE Curse and Sleep attack
  • Stygian Vapor - AoE Plague attack and hate reset
  • Trinary Absorption - HP Drain
  • Trinary Tap - Steals 1-3 status effects or 200 HP from the target if the target has no status effects active
    • Typical strategy against this is to have someone with /whm spam bar- spells
  • Winds of Promyvion - Similar to Erase
When you defeat Wreaker, you will receive the key item Light of Holla and be warped back outside.

Promyvion - Mea Boss

Delver, a Craver type mob, is the boss of Promyvion - Mea. Delver has the following moves:

  • Carousel - AoE physical damage attack with knock back effect
    • Shadows will absorb this move.
  • Empty Thrash - Standard damage attack
  • Impalement - Drops target's HP to 5% and clears target's enmity
    • This move can be avoided by running out of range.
  • Material Fend - Evasion boost.
  • Murk - AoE Slow and Gravity effect
  • Promyvion Brume - AoE damage with Poison effect
When you defeat Delver, you will receive the key item Light of Mea and be warped back outside.

Once you have the Light of Dem, the Light of Holla, and the Light of Mea, this mission will be complete.

My GOD, how can anyone say that Dem and Mea are tricky?! >_<;

The setup for all three was usually the same:
mnk/war (me)
smn/whm
whm/blm
war/nin
pld/war
blm/whm

For Dem, cake walk, I hit Hundred fists, the smn fried it with Ramuh, and there you have it: hard hitting 2hrs out of the way. For Mea, animas saved us like you wouldn't believe! We kept a good chain of psychoanimas on the thing so barely any damage was dealt to us.

Holla...Animas killed us there. We were going over the strategy for the fight, and we were double checking the animas we had: 3 psychos, 2 terros, and a hystero. I thought, "oh, great, this won't be too hard." Yeah, right. >.>

the fight was going very smoothly, we were chaining psychoanimas on it so it wasn't hitting the pld, then when it came to 2/3 life left, our SMN hit Astral, and got ready to fry it, and my hundred fists was already smacking it around fairly well. It was then the blm decided a terroanima would be a great idea. I spent most of my 100 fists chasing the damn thing around, barely getting any shots in, not a single Astral hit got in. We still managed to bring the thing down to 1/10th of its life, but our poison was gone, it AoE sleeped us, drained our pld (Killing him as well) then went after the mages. Our whm bit the dust, and shortly after so did the smn. I woke up, voked, got drain killed and then our blm bit the big one as well.

Not fun. -_-

OMG the most messed up thing ever happened to me, It took me like 4 days to find a pt for my last Promy (Holla) which i happened to die 9 times on. the whole pt dies on the last floor then we Hp to jeuno then someone wants to make an alliance, so it takes 3 hours for them to find sm alliance. once the alliance is made we go back and evrything is going well we make it to the top in like 30 min get evry MR warp on our first try. then we have to wait for 30 min in the spire because some one went afk. we get into the bcnm battle and evrything goes smoth we use our 2 hours at half health and take him down to like 1/8 health then it takes a long time to get the rest. like 30 seconds before he is about dead i D/C. I start yelling at my connection cord while im logging back on, when i get back on the S.O.B has like 1/4 health and my pt is dead. he slaps me in the head and i die. Now i hate Earthlink even more than i already did. Someone please go do spme Haterization on Earthlink

Finished the spires a while ago, but went in to assist some other LS members who had not done this COP mission yet. We arrived at the gate to the boss (Promy Dem) and the two LS members who had yet to do the boss fight were presented with the "Ancient Flames" option to fight. The rest of us were not. Did I miss something? Can you not do the boss fight again if you have already defeated him? Any advice would be appreciated.

Did Holla tonight with the following setup. WAR/NIN, 3x RNG/NIN, SMN/WHM, WHM/SMN (me). The setup here was to have one RNG on the North, West, and East sides, WAR in the middle, mages on stairs.

Basically the plan was to have rangers pick at the NM while the WAR voked every 30 sec in the middle. At 50% people were to gather center and let lose an Ifrit Astral. The mages and WAR had Poison and Pear au Lait to nullify poison. Problem 1 was the SMN didn't see his instructions to backup heal, so I ran out of MP and the WAR died. All was good, until a RNG pulled hate right before the Astral causing it to fail cause she did not move to the center. We came REALLY close, but basically we were a 5 man team with the SMN contributing nothing, but in the end we died.

I had a reraise scroll, so we waited 3 mins to be taken outside and try again. This time, with the SMN and a single RNG having used their 2hr, we decided to use a slightly modified strategy. The WAR was allowed more time for Utsusemi first and foremost. The main premise here was to no longer spam the provoke ASAP. Secondly, the SMN became a healer only. 2hrs on the remaining RNG were to be used once the AOE drain came about. This time myself and the SMN has a Melon Juice only. This strategy worked great, healing almost only with Regen and Cure I, hate was never an issue and with so many shadows spread around damage was almost 0. I even had some time to kneel even though the Melon kept me pretty full on MP. At the end we got slowed down bit due to sleeps with no more poison, but when he dropped, we had more han enough MP and HP left at the end to take the NM on for another 25% of his life bar or more, but I don't want to over assume so I'll leave it at that.

Hope this strategy helps.

Finally after months of trying... I got all:

Prom. Holla: That guy was pain... but got him after fourth try! First time we didn't know what awaits us... we went in as a normal EXP PT... WAR/MNK WAR/THF BLM/WHM WHM/BLM THF/WAR RDM/BLM... yes we were young and noobs ^^ needless to say the Boss raped us baldy... second and third try were as cruel... but we had SMN, RNG and NIN Tank ^^ but our last try with 2 SMN, 2 RNG, 1 WAR/NIN and 1 WHM/SMN we got him... damn AOE Sleep prevented the other SMN and me from doing our second Tidal Wave... but Tank and RNG finished it of.

Promy Dem: 2 SMN, 2 RNG, 2 WAR/NIN... piece of cake... all went fine... we all 2 HRed at 50% HP and he bited the dust ^^

Promy Mea: We got stuck about 1 HR in the last Area cause it was damn crowded of Empties... and we didn't know the way... had to handle 3 Aggros and Tank died once... PT Setup: 3 SMN, 1 RNG, 1 WHM, 1 Tank... we got him to a silver of HP when Tank and WHM died... the other 2 SMN had no more HP cause of keeping the RNG alive... I readied my last Tidal wave and it hit, but that damn thing didn't want to die... luckyly Ranger did a critical hit with dagger for 64 DMG which finished him off...

There were 4 of us that were static for each of these. We had one helluva time with Holla, got it done on 4th try.. Rng - Rng - Smn - Whm - Nin and Blm.. Finally figured it out.

We just did Dem and Mea.. Dem on Saturday was a 5 min fight.. Rng/Nin Rng/Nin War/Nin Thf/Nin Whm/Blm and Smn/Whm.. No problem anywhere, no Anima's used. War/Nin played with the babies. The rest of us just wasted the main mob. No deaths.

Mea on Sunday, same party set up, new smn.. Lost our Whm and our War/Nin.. Only 1 two hr used by smn. Whm and War had previously completed all CoP Promy's and did not delevel, so all was well. Again, no anima's used.

Lufaise is pretty. Bugards are stone ugly.

I should give my experience with Mea.

I had a party that attempted this twice a few days ago. We won the second time.

the first time the party set up pretty close to optimal:

war/nin (me)
war/nin
blm/whm
smn/whm
whm/blm
rng/nin

We had six anima at our disposal, and still lost. There was a lot of confusion after it used Promyvion Brune. I think one of our big problems was that was that the anima were all from me and the smn. The smn was trying to get off three astral flows using yagudo drinks and ethers, and I was trying to perform the delicate balancing act of counting shadows, casting utsusemi and provoking that is dual tanking. So neither of us really had a lot of time to think about when to use our anima. I also think we had a lot of bad luck. Both times we went in, it looked like the element was water, and the first time we faught it on watersday. I wouldn't be surprised if that made it extra strong, so I would advise against fighting it on watersday, just in case. I think we could have made it in this one if the WHM hadn't been as shy about using Benediction.

The second time, we decided to try something differant. It was mostly the same members, but we changed jobs around a bit.

pld/war
mnk/war (me)
rng/nin
rng/nin
smn/whm
whm/blm

We blew through this thing like it was nothing. Most of us made it with 80% HP left, and the pld and whm didn't even 2-hour.

I had spare recollections in my moghouse, so we still had anima to use. I used hysteroanima after the first AoE (around 80% HP), and psychoanima as soon as I could after that. I was using sole sushi and did focus+berserk+hundred fists while the smn used Astral flow and the rngs did their thing. By the time my hundred fists wore off, it was down to 25% and the rngs both used eagle eye shot to drop it. We were amazed how easy it was. The smn didn't even get a chance to get off his second astral flow.

so here are some lessons I got from this:

Use jobs that have strong offensive 2-hour abilities like mnk, smn, rng, maybe sam and drop it quickly. I attribute a lot of our success to the fact that the fight only lasted about a minute and a half after we engaged.

I haven't noticed black mages doing a lot of damage to any of the promyvion bosses. Their spells get resisted a lot. I've noticed them being most useful in an enfeebling capacity, but i would rather bring a dedicated damage dealer to end the fight quickly than an enfeebler.

There's nothing wrong with having a single dedicated tank. In fact, it worked better because he was better at holding hate through all the damage we were doing, we could have four dedicated damage dealers, and it was less preasure on me to try to hold hate, keep utsu up, and use anima at the same time. If you kill it fast enough, the damage the tank takes isn't going to be that significant.

Thought I'd share my story.

PT SET-UP
WAR/NIN (Me)
WAR/NIN
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN
SMN/WHM
WHM/BLM
(Yes, I had amazing luck with a good set-up =D)
We usually had 1 of each anima, no farming. I used Jack-o'-Lanterns, and had full Kampf. I printed and read through (Several times) Wingchild's guide, and printed maps off of ffxi-atlas.com. The RNG would say the direction of the MR, and we'd run for it. For the most part, we avoided aggro. Wanderer's aren't very dangerous, and move around a lot, so they attacked a few times. Other than that, there were no real problems.

On the 4th floor, we always did a mad dash, for fun. Everyone that could Utsusemi'd, and the mages followed behind. We'd get HUGE trains going. I died once doing this, but it was always on the zone in, so there were no dangers. It's fun =D

Holla... You need to have a very good party to get up Holla. Aggro is hard to avoid. The rooms are all very enclosed, and there're tons of mobs. I found that on the 2nd floor, the safest way through the maze is to pull everything in the way (One at a time) and just clear the path. The boss was pretty easy, though. Poison Potions are god sends =D

Dem was pathetic. We were up and out in about 15 minutes. Then again, we did Holla just before Dem, so...

Mea was an easy trip up. On Floor 2, we couldn't find the right MR, but there were no problems. The boss was a pain, though. Everyone went all out, other than our WHM. (SMART!) So, the RNG got hate, and died, thanks to it's hate reset move. I think that if they'd held back, it would've gone very well.

For melee - BRING HI-POTIONS. You're likely to get hate at some point, and on links, your healers will be frantically healing. It's for the good of everyone if you heal yourself.

No comments for mages. Everyone in my PT didn't seem to have any problems.

Also, take it slow. Don't risk aggro. It's not worth a saved minute to risk having to redo the whole zone. And, when you fail, your PT will be discouraged, and some are likely to leave. It's just that much more time =\

In order of easiest-hardest to get to the Spire...
Dem > Mea > Holla

And for bosses...

Dem > Holla(With Poison Potions) > Mea

Good luck!

Now as a less than suitable job for alot of things, im more than happy to try some different party setups and believe that you can make most things work no matter the setup.

Our run of dem last night though bough something important to my attention.

Party was
Pld/war
Nin/war
Drg/war << ME
Rng/nin
whm/blm
mnk/war

Not the best setup, but it formed pretty fast and no one was a weak link in this pt.

We did fail at the boss though. We took the ENM boss NP, cept the promy boss was a different story.

We tried twice the boss and died twice.

Morale of the story???
Though different setups are not impossible to achieve things, you are making life difficult for yourself. You can do it (i dont have proof though) but consider it alot harder to achieve this without a favourable pt.

I don't want to discourage ppl from trying new setups, but realise that if you fail it isn't necassarily cause you suck, cause you don't, but that it is more difficult for you to achieve.

Just thought I'd post a li'l something on recollections...

Recollection/Anima Info:
-Dem: Wanderer drops Recollection of Pain; Weeper drops Recollection of Guilt; Seether drops Recollection of Fear.

-Holla: Wanderer drops Recollection of Fear; Weeper drops Recollection of Pain; Seether drops Recollection of Guilt.

-Mea: Wanderer drops Recollection of Guilt, Weeper drops Recollection of Fear, Seether drops Recollection of Pain.

-Recollection of Guilt = Terroanima.

-Recollection of Pain = Hysteroanima.

-Recollection of Fear = Psychoanima.

Terroanima kites the mob around. It will run in random directions.

Hysteroanima makes the mob be unable to use special attacks (weapon skills).

Psychoanima makes the mob unable to attack.

A final note, the area specific mob (Craver, Gorger, Thinker) drops the same as the Wanderer in that area.

This guide is also under the anima obtaining quest, "Empty Memories"

guys, seriously its not that hard, just have 2 rng/nin 2 war/nin a blm/whm and a smn or whm and u shouldnt have any problems, the only problems i've had so far is getting to the spire, and am yet to actualy fail at that. just make sure your whm has a reraise scroll on em and your all set
I hate Holla!

Ok heres my story on the Promyvions. I did Mea, because I was curious, there were some people shouting in Jeuno and I thought, what the hey, I'll join up. It was just one pt, I didn't know what we were doing other than being capped at 30.

So we managed to sneak our way up and kill the boss. No deaths, the quintessencial "great" run.

Dem was in my opinion a little harder on the way up. The boss was pretty easy though.

And then Holla...How I hate thee. The few times I've tried Holla, I'll admit were with pretty crap parties, filled with people who hardly new what the promyvions were.

The first time, we got to the 3rd floor, and who do you think showed up? Good ole Cerebrator, full alliance and all of us got wiped, and no one brought a re-raise.

Second time, a month later only 6 people. We go all the way to the 3rd floor and again Cerebrator. This time we cleaned his clock, and got the memosphere and the core. Got to the boss and died.

Third time. 2 parties. For some reason no matter how often you tell people to pay attention and not to auto-run and follow, they still manage to do it. Anyway this time we avoided the NM (lucky us) and got to the boss. So we're resting up in the room as the 1st party goes, they succeed.
So in we go. We were doing pretty good until for some reason the WAR just dropped. Not entirely sure what happened but needless to say I had to grab hate. I meikyo'ed, the rng ees, the smn flowed, we got this guy down within a few hits of his life. And then nothing, we all dropped, but the blm, who still had her 2 hour. So while we're lying there waiting for her to manafont and kill him...nothing. She sat there while his hp regained and then ran out.

So...yeah. Me and Holla are not friends. All I can say is, when I get RNG lvled to 30 Tavnazia better damn well be worth it >.<

OK... F&%# this Holla NM hes so messed up !!!

had a 2 pt Alliance we got to the spire with no deaths, in my pt we had 3 animas, and the other pt had NO animas, i was like.. ok there dead, they win.. i congradulate them there pt setup BLM/WHM/RNG/WAR/DRK/ and something els, i was like great (congradulations) ok my pts turn. BLM(me)WHM / SMN / PLD / RNG / RNG. we had 3 animas and i said i would use my terro anima when WHM needs to Benadiction, well we got it down to 3% HP left and then PLD dies, i had Manafont active and i was useing my Ga spells for most damage, then my poison postion runs out on me and it hit me with the sleep AE, all downhill from there, we died. this is my 4th time trying this guy i hate him and i am very discouraged, oh ya i forgot to mention its my last ptommy i need of the 3 :S go figure, thx a lot murphie.. you and your law.

My 1st prom attempt we went to Holla, did this last night with a party of only 5, and sry to say, it was piece of cake. We had 3 animas to use, which help tremendously. I was whm/rdm (blm not lvld) despite the, Do NOT sub rdm, we had pld/war, smn/whm, rng/nin, rng/nin. The AoE sleep was sort of a problem, but I stayed back far enough out of range, and I could easily wake up comrades in order. We all had some types of food, I popped yag drink at start, kept up healing and paralyze, used hi ether, then popped another yag drink. Of course, pld, rngs used 2 hrs, smn tried to but didn't get it off in time, and I did not use benediction, no need.
After this we did Mea, and that was entirely another story .... we beat it but not til 4th try, and barely at that lol

I’m not one for write ups normally but I thought this needed to be said !
Our linkshell decided to attempt CoP a few weeks ago and started levelling other jobs in time for the weekend’s attempt.

Our party therefore consisted of

DRG/WHM - Grifftron
PLD/WAR - Nightsbane
RNG/NIN - Thefonz
RNG/NIN - Athilorian
WHM/BLM - Raizt
BLM/WHM - Kkelley

I’d like to point out a few things all the other write ups and walkthroughs insist upon, WAR/NIN are not needed, SMN’s are not needed. An Alliance is definitely not needed and would only cause more problems travelling to the 4th floor. What a load of old man’s bollox.

In all our opinions a well balanced party like we had was much more important, and 2nd knowing each other was important, If your going to attempt this with people you don’t know very well, theres no better time to get to know each other by farming your Anima’s.

These Anima’s are what makes the Boss fights a complete wipe out or a success. We had 8 for each fight and farmed for more in between Crags waiting for our 2 Hour’s to reset.

Getting to Top Floor

We used the same strategy for getting to the spire for each Prom. Had Thefonz lead the way nice and slowly avoiding as much fights as we could although having to take IT’s on the top floor was not hard but just time consuming. Each Receptacle we needed to kill all got into place with PLD and DRG placing themselves against the corner of the wall to stop the AoE blowback which sends you a good 20 yards and miles out of range of a Cure. DRG then mopped up the strays as they spawned and provided backup healing.

Promethia Holla

Decided to do Holla 1st as we’d heard it was the hardest. Stocked up on Poison Potions each (to stop sleep), Holy Water (cure Curse) and Echo Drops (cure silence).

Got to the top floor very easily and healed up. We entered Boss fight and all used poison Potions. PLD voked and used a PhyschoAnima to stop physical attacks, got boss to 50% HP where RNG then used another Anima to stop Boss using Special attacks, at 25% HP approx PLD used invincible and RNG’s unleashed Eagle Eye with BLM using 2 hour and nuking bits out of the Boss. Game Set Match.

Promethia Dem

Waited an hour then started to make our way up to top floor again, had a few more troubles on the way with the Receptacle being fake twice and having to find the real one. Changed the strategy for the Boss fight here as it has no AoE’s, but some strong *** single attacks, this in mind we kept the PLD’s HP at full throughout by spamming Cure 2’s at him from all 4 healers. Used the Animas again and at 50% HP the boss started spitting out baby’s, got the DRG to mop these up and cure himself with Healing Breath 3’s as they were tapping away at the pld. At 25% HP again RNG’s and BLM unleashed 2 Hours and he was gone in seconds.

Promethia Mea

Feeling a bit happy with how it was going we decided to finish it off although it was 3:30am for 3 of us and the WHM was asleep and needed to be woken up with <Call>’s.

Mea went easy and for some reason was mostly empty of mobs on the way up.
Boss fight we used same strategy and at this point we had 11 Animas left so just chucked the lot at him, he didn’t know what had hit him. 25% Eagle eye used , dead.

After researching doing CoP we were all a bit down thinking having to level WAR’s and NIN’s and SMN’s and questing for NIN scrolls. This just needed to be wrote up to give all you people out there want to do it with your Main or 2nd Main job that it can and will be done. Proper planning and 1 leader and your away. If any of you are on Quetzalcoat then give one of us a shout and we will be more than happy to answer any questions. The reward at the end is well worth it with a whole new area to explore and quest in. And as a final note we were within 30 seconds of the record for each boss battle and had NO deaths throughout the whole event. Good luck all.

It's been said before, but I just want to reconfirm with a bit of evidence that with enough Anima, just about any PT setup can win.

We did Mea last night and won, gaining me access to Lufaise (/cheer).

This was our setup:

WAR/MNK
SAM/WAR
THF/NIN
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM (me)
WHM/BLM

That's right, no RNG's, no SMN's, no WAR/NIN's. Just a plain, old fashioned, Jeuno pick up party.

We went all out on Animas. It only took about an hour and a half to two hours to get all three Animas for every single person. I was talking to all my LS buddies about this and they all said something along the lines of "bend over and kiss your a$$ goodbye." So we said, ***** it, we're gonna win. Our WHM got aggro and died on the third floor on the first trip up (He got separated from us), but the second one we made it very smoothly all the way to the top. It was terribly easy, in fact. To get through the fourth floor, we just had our main tank use a Hermes Quencher and train everything in our path out of the way. WHM raised him afterwards and we all got ready for the battle.

We basically just kept Delver stupified the whole time with Anima. He dealt hardly any damage, never got a single special attack off. And what's better (especially for rubbing in the face of everybody who said we'd lose): We broke the record by like a minute. The moral of the story? Enough Anima will cripple these bosses to a near catatonic state. Anima = Win.
Promyvion ease.

Anima as everyone knows is the absolute key to winning...

Having attempted Holla a few times we decided to get at least 1 or 2 Anima per person our pt set up was...

Rng/Nin
Pld/War
Smn/Whm
Smn/Whm
Rng/sam
Whm/Blm

The boss was then pwned...extremely hard, the record broken by near 2 minutes.

So we go for Dem, we had Anima's in hand our tank was changed this time, and laughed that we had Anima for the Dem boss...

Heh. The boss was about to use his AOE absorb hp move...I cracked open a bottle of Psychoanima and no special...we just tore through him because of the Anima's.

Breaking the record of that Promyvion by 3 mins, completing it in just over 2 mins.

Most people will argue that those are not -THE- only jobs to take into a Promyvion, I agree you can try it with others, but those listed above actually make it a whole lot easier.

Firstly Astral Flow will hurt the boss, twin Astral Flow is pwnage...The first Eagle eye shot will take a chunk, when it gets low on hp and starts spamming stuff, the second Eagle eye shot will end it. The reason people suggest Rng being vital is the widescan for tracking the MR's and the Ability to deliver a one shot of large damage...very handy in the end.

RDM uses

Ppl often overlook the usefullness in the prommies... IE: Gravity.....yes....RDM has a useful debuff before dispel....cast Gravity on an empty then run very fast to the zone....also if your tank needs to kite, gravity is your friend...just make sure your tank moves and is cured up.....mind you RDM can help everybody.... back-up curing, extra DD, and nuking

The problem with RDM is that Debuffing the Empty NM is close to sucide. My first try at Holla one of the mages casted a debuff on it and it went strait to them and killed. The PLD/WAR couldn't voke it off. Also these things will absorb your party's none food buffs.

But, this doesn't mean that RDMs are bad for Promyvions. My third attempt on Holla was right after my second attempt. And all we had was an RDM and me (SMN) for healing and we bought it down to 10% before we died. Now, if the WAR or I hadn't used our 2HRs the fight before, we would have schooled it.

And Gravity is more useful then just slowing the mob down it also lower's it's evasion.

that ture with any job...if you do too much debuffing/dmg/curing/nuking....you will die off.....but i went though dem....i got the hang of holla...and im still waiting to do mea/holla...(holla = pt kept dying....RDM = sleep)

The beauty of gravity i that the tanks have plenty time to voke it off.
I'm a taru, and I went with 40+21 INT (including food). Elemental Seal+Gravity will stick. When gravity is on, the RDM can easily throw out Slow, paralyze, Blind and dia w/o worrying about aggro if you have enough ppl with war as main or sub (provoke). The end boss' are slow moving as it is, but gravity almost makes them stand still.
I reccomend you get a RDM who knows his equip macros tho, or it might be hard to apply either slow/paralyze or blind/gravity
Remember that gravity is on a 1 min. recast timer, so sticking it the first time is important.

Disclaimer: I've done 2xDem and 1xMea

man this one was fun, Promy Mea pretty tough i thought but it was in random Jeuno shout groups, anyways we got to the boss at the end fine, there were 3 groups mine was the last to go, the first 2 got stomped, then it was our turn. Our PT set up was not the best, WAR/SAM (me and also the tank) WHM/BLM, RDM/BLM, SMN/WHM, RNG/NIN, and MNK/WAR... it was a close fight, we had nothing except maybe the mages had juices im not sure, we had no Anima or anything, after almost everyone's 2hr the final result: only the SMN and RNG alive- SMN hp=7 RNG=8 yes, total hp=15 but we won with astral flow x3 it was really close but it was also a ton of fun that way

promyvion-holla Success

OK....here is the some info to get you on the right track. Make no mistake, this is a very difficult mission, reguardless the amount of money you spend on food, medicine or equipment.

# 1. Make sure to let everyone know that you need approximatly 2-3 hours to complete the quest. Everyone must be aware of this as you will get some people who want to carelessly rush through the diffrent levels reguardless of aggros or effective party communications.

#2. The single most important item to bring is the Pyschoanima. You need to prepare, prior to attempting the Boss, and farm for anima items. The item you are looking for is the Recollection of Pain. When you turn this in to the NCP in Jeuno. He will synthisis an anima for you. Take time prior to putting your party together to collect these items. Also i have not confirmed this but as far as i can tell, you get Recollection of Pain and Fear from Holla. The item for Terroanima only drops from mobs in Dem. Again, i have no direct conformation for this, just my experience.

# 3. Helpfull items are Poison potions for the melee, Au lait and xpotions. Of course food, ethers and any others will help. You can spend endless amounts of money for this.

# 4. The winning team i put together was as follows War/Nin, War/Nin, Rng/War, Blm/Whm, Whm/Blm and Smn/Whm.

Now two things that i found very interesting. The Smn is in my estimation the very reason why we won. The two hour ability is very powerfull. We used Titan on Earths day. I also found out that Nin/War which i used in previous attempts, is really not that effective as a tank or melee support. The reason why is that the War/nin has Utsusmei and double attack. Also the Nin 2hour ability is usless in this boss fight. Though it will inflict damage, who wants to end the fight by killing themselves. again, just my observations.

# 5. Timing is everything.... Here is how the fight went.

We entered the battlefeild and used our food and etc. The two War/Nin attacked while the Blm and Whm went to the opposite sides of the arena. The Rng did his own thing. At 50% health we cast our first Psychoanima and Melee used there 2 hours. 45 seconds later we cast another Psychoanima and Blm used his 2 hour. 45 seconds after that we Cast another Psychoanima and Rng and Smn used there 2 hours. The final blow came from the smn. The key is to use the first anima prior to the boss using its HP drain. We lost the Rng to this quickly, but were able to cast the anima to save the others. So the morale of the story is dont attempt this fight without at least 4 Psychoanimas.

# 6. Other information that i can offer that will help is as follows.

Try to use the same party for all attempts. this makes life easier when it comes time to explain the plan for the bosses. less questions asked and everyone has a good mental picture of what to expect. Also, spend the time to make a macro for that 45 sec timer and list out who is casting what anima. This helps everyone understand what order to go in and you get no double castings. Last thing is Make sure you have at least one Smn for there 2 hour. I personally think that that is the reason for our success.
# 7. Oh ya if forgot to add.... the Blm must use Elemental Seal + Bind everytime you cast an anima. I read this in a previous post and it was a great tip. Now i understand that Elemental seal is on a timer so really you only get to use it once during the fight, but make sure you cast bind everytime. Also Paralyse is a very valuable spell as well.
