Mission Orders

The first mothercrystal has been tainted with Emptiness. Hurry to the remaining crags to find out if any other stones have met the same fate.

Walkthrough

This mission will be activated once you have defeated one of the first three Promyvion bosses. It does not matter which one.

About Promyvion

Promyvion is made up of four areas: Promyvion - Dem, Promyvion - Holla, Promyvion - Mea, and Promyvion - Vahzl. You need not concern yourself with Promyvion - Vahzl until PM 5-2 Desires of Emptiness. The first three Promyvion areas have a level cap of 30. As of the September 2008 version update[1], you do not have to wear level appropriate gear in a level capped zone, however it may be recommended for optimum performance. To enter a Promyvion zone, enter the Hall of Transference through a shattered telepoint at one of the three crags. Once inside, check the large apparatus to the left. At this point, you will be able to enter that zone.

Note: If you do not complete that Promyvion by defeating the boss at the end, you will need to check the large apparatus again to erase your memory in order to enter a different Promyvion.

The Promyvion zones are broken up into four "floors," each with increasingly tougher mobs called Emptiness. All emptiness are True Sight, so sneak and Invisible are useless. It is commom practice to avoid fighting them as much as possible, especially on the higher levels where they are typically much tougher than anything a normal level 30 party would be able to safely handle. It is advisable to carry with you a Reraise Earring. It also wouldn't hurt to have someone in your party with Tractor, just in case.

Traversing Promyvion

As previously mentioned, Promyvion zones are broken up into 4 "floors." To travel from one floor to the next, you must find and defeat the correct Memory Receptacle. Memory Receptacles are usually surrounded by special Emptiness called Strays. Strays are very easy to defeat, but can quickly become a problem in large numbers. Additionally, Memory Receptacles spawn Strays in regular intervals, so it is advisable to have a member of the party dedicated to killing them while the rest of the part is fighting the Memory Receptacle. Common practice is for someone with ranged attacks, like a Ranger or Samurai, to take care of this. Once the correct Memory Receptacle is defeated, a portal will appear that will take you to the next floor. Occasionally, you will encounter a "fake" Memory Receptacle, which after defeating will not cause a portal to appear. At the end of the fourth floor is the entrance to a spire, in which is the entrance to the battle field where you will fight the boss.

Promyvion Bosses

It is advisable to do the quest Empty Memories to obtain Psychoanima, Hysteroanima, and Terroanima, which will make the fights with the bosses significantly easier.

Promyvion - Dem Boss

Progenerator, a Gorger type mob, is the boss of Promyvion - Dem. Progenerator has the following moves:

  • Fission - calls out a pet, Offspring
  • Quadratic Continuum - Standard damage attack
  • Spirit Absorption - Drains 200 HP
    • This attack ignores shadows
  • Stygian Flatus - AoE Paralyze attack
  • Promyvion Barrier - Defense boost
  • Vanity Drive - Directional AoE damage attack
When you defeat Progenerator, you will receive the key item Light of Dem and be warped back outside.

Promyvion - Holla Boss

Wreaker, a Thinker type mob, is the boss of Promyvion - Holla. Wreaker has the following moves:

  • Empty Cutter - Single target physical damage attack
  • Negative Whirl - AoE Ice damage attack
  • Shadow Spread - AoE Curse and Sleep attack
  • Stygian Vapor - AoE Plague attack and hate reset
  • Trinary Absorption - HP Drain
  • Trinary Tap - Steals 1-3 status effects or 200 HP from the target if the target has no status effects active
    • Typical strategy against this is to have someone with /whm spam bar- spells
  • Winds of Promyvion - Similar to Erase
When you defeat Wreaker, you will receive the key item Light of Holla and be warped back outside.

Promyvion - Mea Boss

Delver, a Craver type mob, is the boss of Promyvion - Mea. Delver has the following moves:

  • Carousel - AoE physical damage attack with knock back effect
    • Shadows will absorb this move.
  • Empty Thrash - Standard damage attack
  • Impalement - Drops target's HP to 5% and clears target's enmity
    • This move can be avoided by running out of range.
  • Material Fend - Evasion boost.
  • Murk - AoE Slow and Gravity effect
  • Promyvion Brume - AoE damage with Poison effect
When you defeat Delver, you will receive the key item Light of Mea and be warped back outside.

Once you have the Light of Dem, the Light of Holla, and the Light of Mea, this mission will be complete.

Dem:
Rng/Nin (me)
War/Nin x2
Smn/Whm x2
Blm/Whm

A little confusion here cause we asked 1 smn to go Whm and they didn't :( besides that, our war died but both Smn 2Hr at 30% as well as Rng. We could've takin him at 50-60 juse cause the overall combined 2hrs did 1200 (+ barrage for another 200) making it 1400. Used 2 Anima (psycho and Hystero) and it was over.

Mea:
Rng/Nin
War/Nin x2
Whm/Blm
Smn/Whm
Rdm/Whm

No confusion, first time we wiped, 2 italians d/c as we entered (lol?) second time went without a flaw, never got in the red and the 2 wars swaped hate like it was their job. Only 1 Anima used and 2Hr at 50% one BP and EES plus barrage = death.

My LS on the Asura Server is gearing up for Mea this Sunday. We have a FULL 18 person alliance that looks something like this:

1st party

Kovach-war/nin
Peikohan-war/mnk
Nwa-war/nin
Animapain-smn/whm
Tanen-whm/blm (me)
Evaone-blm/whm

2nd

Laharl-war/nin
Minakochan-nin/war
Chibiaeris-pup/mnk
Reaperofdeath-thf/nin
Nekosama-rdm/whm
Total-blm/whm

3rd

Enojiin-war/mnk
Berserksword-pld/war
Slikrik-thf/nin
Agoran-rdm/blm
Anneskitty-thf/nin
Tanen-whm/blm (me)

I think we look pretty good and have a strong chance of suceeding all three times. I have to go in twice (I'm Tanen) since we are short on WHM.

Just wanted Clarification from all of you and see if anyone had any suggestions for party make-up.

LOL, if the rest of your LS is as big an ******* as Berserksword, you guys are probably the most unfriendly LS on the server. Guy is a complete tool, he'd be kicked out of our LS instantly for his behavior.

Well we did the Promy Mea run, but things did not work out as I had hoped. Only 1 out of our 3 pt's win and we had 4 deaths as we climbed the tower. Not exactly encouraging for our LS members.

i wonder if a full alliance of MNK's could run into one of these, all engage and 2 hour to see what happens, could bring some hi pots n holy water etc. it would be fun to try tho, but then again bringing abuncha mnk's and having them all 2hour a mob or NM is always fun

i often wonder WHY ppl hate red mage in promies...i just did promyvion dem last night as red mage, we gravity kited the big bug and killed it so damn fast it wasnt even funny. i know what ppl will post after this..."Dem is the easiest, you just got lucky, red mage cant do any of the other promyvions" .... to the ppl that post that... you are n00bs. if red mage is good enough to gravity kite the hardest Beastmen Seals BCNMs, we're good enough to gravity kite the massive bugs that comprise the bosses of these areas. besides, red mage is needed in most of the other areas of the CoP expansion pack, so just bear with us and help us through the promies, and you'll end up getting the rest of the expansion pack done without having to shout for days on end in jeuno for a red mage to help with it. there yah have it, that's been eatin at me for the longest time... gl to the rest of the red mages out there who need your promies done, and if you're on Valefor, i'll be makin some promy pts this week some time so send me a /tell and i'll send you an invite to kick some insect *** :p
EDIT: did two promies back to back yesterday as red mage, first Mea, then Holla, no deaths in the actual fighting, though in holla we had four ppl die on the last floor because of massive aggro...that's what we get for doing it at 1 AM. anyway, none of the NMs ever used the specials that make ppl run in fear...they just ran around in circles with gravity on them, which made them waste a few tp moves i'd guess. anyway, that's all 3 promies in 2 days, which proves that red mage CAN in fact do promies as well as anyone else! btw, our set up for all three was Red mage, Summoner, Paladin, Ninja, Ranger, Whitemage, and ninja brought his Shade gear, which intimidated the NM quite often, so dont let your tanks forget Shade gear, cause it's a lifesaver at times!

Prom-Mea

I've completed Holla and Dem prior with 1/1 on attempts on those two. But for Mea, i was 1/3 on it till last night. Then i decided to do this with my ls after a couple of weeks conflicts and questions of "who wanted to be the ldr/organizer". So here was our setup for the pt.

Whm/Blm (me) (psychoanima O)
Blm/Whm (psychoanima X, hysterianima X, terroranime O)
Smn/Whm (psychoanima X, hysterianima X)
Smn/Rng <-- a new combo! (RNG were hard to find)
Drk/War (psychoanima X, hysterianima O, terroranime O)
War/Nin

We spent some time the prior night to farm for anima (see above to see the number of animas we had and used). But anyway, when we got there we met another pt who was also going there and we formed an alliance, which made things very easily and no one died along the way. We could have done it as a solo pt, but this made things easier.

When we got there, we took a while to decide how to use the animas. Since the NM WS doesnt use it's WS until we've used our 2hr (from what i read), we decided to use the hysterianima first and hysterianima after the 2Hr.

So this is how the battle played out: We've started to use our psychoanima after the NM's health was at 70-80% (Drk ==> Smn ==> Blm in that order), and hysterianima after the NM health was at 50% and when everyone except the BLM used their 2hrs. Even though we had the animas, hysterianima didn't really help with managing hate in the beginning. It did some rough damage to our Drk and War. So i had to resort to using Cure 3 over Cure 2here and there. But around 60% it spammed gravity and slow and it killed me T_T. But I reraised myself and i used a Ether Potion, mp food and i buffed up. The SMN backed up heal a bit. By that time, NM was already at 50% and our tank was taking some damage. Then i told them to use their 2 hr and it drop the NM really fast. But unfortunately the tank got killed around 30% because i couldnt spam my cure 2 any faster. So it was up to the Drk to manage the hate, but it didnt really matter. The party was getting really well at using hysterianima that the NM didnt really touch us and everyone was at full health. When the NM was down to 20-25%, the BLM used his 2 hr and nuked away. The NM didnt really like that and it dropped the blm to 5 hp before it was all over.

So yah, that's how we've beat prom-mea. I'm not saying it's the perfect setup or method to beating him. but we killed him in a little over 9 min. The record was like 5-6 mins.

So yah, Congratulations to TheNewWorld on the Fenrir Server to: Htrains, Nickla, Hanakana, Gwinidel and Lovkat (the helper)for beating Prom-Mea.

so i just completed Holla the other day and now i need Mea and Dem so i can get on with Promathia. Holla went pretty smooth even though we did take alot of aggro getting to the spire. our party setup was war/nin, war/nin, smn/whm, smn/whm, blm/whm and whm/blm(me). This party configuration combined with having 5 anima's made the boss fight pretty easy. i'm always looking for a party to do the next two spires so if your on ragnarok and needing mea or dem give me a /tell.

ok yeah here was the pt set up whm/blm blm/whm war/nin war/nin and me rdm/blm (i found out later rdm absolutly sucks for this) ok anyways we had 4 of the algiawhaties we used all of them. ok first to go was the war/nin got owned by something and we couldnt heal fast enough. next was the other war/nin (o joy here we go), next was blm he was out of mp anyways after 3 eithers and yags. after him went our rng who was owning the crap out of it i mean like really owning it. then was the whm and next hit me. we litterally had it down to 2% health or less and bam aoe 250 me and whm go down right before whm could finish using reraise earring. it was so depressing and esspecially cause i deleveled back to 52 BAH, next time i think im gonna try and get war/nin war/nin rng/nin rng/nin whm/blm and either me as drk or level up smn. either way this has got to be the hardest out of all of the first 3

Ok, just did mea. Everyone says this is so easy, I don't think it was. We tried it yesterday and the person who "organized" our runs said it was so easy we wouldn't need to use our 2hrs or animas. Yeah...that pt died twice, another pt died twice, and my pt died 4 times. So today we got organized. Our setup was nin, war, war, smn, whm, rng(me). We spent a good 2 hours, if not 3, farming animas and ended up going in with 10. We used 8 by the time the fight was over. I suggest you do this for every promy because it makes things a lot easier and can save your ***. During our 4 runs yesterday, we found that kiting the mob was the easiest and safest way to beat this thing. So we go in with a voke order and I'm the one calling anima throws, while I'm slowly shooting it's health down. The only bad thing that happened was the ninja died twice due to an impale move and then the poison AoE after being raised. But other than that everything went ok. The smn judgement bolted at 25% health, then I EES, and then a war poked it for the win. Smn didn't even get the second bolt off. Before I EES I got aggro and the thing tried to use Carousel, which would have killed me. But due to an anima, it wasn't able to use it and I was able to get EES off. The fight took 18mins and change, long I know, but we still won. Oh and with juices, our mages never had low mp...in 20 mins. Bring antidotes, juices, maybe ethers depending on your strat, and hi-potions are always a good idea. Getting more animas for holla tomorrow...

Ok Just tired Holla today, the PT that did Dem yesterday was doing it today. But other Members of our LS heard all of our talk about it and wanted to come. We formed an alliance of 2 PTs more than half of which are skilled players. My party has huge trouble getting through the "maze" on map 2 but we make it through with tones of fighting. Both of the PTs gather together on map 3 and head to a memory recepticle, but some one in our group getts a Weaper agrro. No biggie, 12 ppl agains 1 monster, peice of cake. But while ppl were turning around to help, someone in the other group catches a thinkers sight and that begins to tear through us. I'm posative that we could have taken it, but the person with the Thinker agrro didnt stop, they ran, and agrroed many, many other mobs. We wiped, luckly a WHM has RR earrings, after a couple of raises later we relize something. we all died right in the Middle of the Spawn Point! In the end that WHM ended up died 12 times on his own while the whole PT wiped Twice, Yes, all befor even reaching the 4th friggen floor >,<

in my opinon, smaller groups = less hastle

Lucky my Pt is shotting for Holla again tomarrow
RDM Woot!

Ok just did Dem tonight. The run up to the Spire is never hard, only had to fight 1 or 2 agggros and the occasional fake Memory Flux. We got to the Top, Rested, ran over the paln over and over again, then set that plan into action.

Setup was, WAR/NINx2, SAM/WAR, WHM/SMN, SMN/WHM, and RDM/BLM(me)

Thats right a RDM, I never see them doing Prommies and every one says there useless. Well there not. I didnt even Sub WHM and we still P3NW3D the NM like a N3WB, without any Animas. Main reason why RDM isnt useless in Prommies is Debuffing, Every single one of my debuffs stuck on the first shot except Blind. No one droped below 3/4 HP except the brave soul that tanked all the offspring.

Hopefully when we do Holla and Mea tomarrow, they will run just as smoothly

After months and months of being Beaten down, i Finally got a Holla party

the set up was 3 War/nin smn(me)and whm and rng

we all had 2 anima, Psycho and hystero we ordered the voke and ordered the anima.

persons A anima#1 /wait 20 anima#2 /wait20 /p PERSON B USE ANIMA
persons B anima#1 /wait 20 anima#2 /wait20 /p PERSON C USE ANIMA

we jumped in, no buffs coz it absorbs em. Holy water and poison potions coz of AOE curse and sleep.

It all went really quick was shocked tbh -

3 War/nins rotated the Voke

i popped a yag drink and set ramuh on his ***

whm did his thing and so did the rng

when it hit 75% we threw in the anima that got it to like 40% then when it hit 40% i astral flowed, did my first one and ramuh died and i healed, then i think the wars and rng 2hrd coz it died soon after and i got thrown into lufiese meadows XD

Mea is the one with AOE gravity and the ws that sends one person down to 1/10th hp....... nasty

set up waswe used was 4 war/nins whm and smn(me). I was dubious about this set up but it worked. Everyone had 1 pyschoanima. The 4 war/nins ordered the voke.

1st voke > 2nd voke > 3rd voke > 4th voke >
1st voke 2hred > 2nd voke 2hred > 3rd voke 2hred > 4th voke 2hred
each threw in anima after 2hr and when the anima wore off the next 2hred
smn astral flowed with ramuh (nm is week to lightning)
whm benediction when all hp was low

i didnt even get my 2nd flow off and it was dead!

:> bloody magic ;)

You're kidding. The fights are not difficult so long as you actually have a)experience with the game, and b) a good setup. My pt setup was war/nin, blm/whm, whm/blm, rng/nin, rng/nin, rng/nin. Yea, yea I know. Pile on the cheese. You don't need a cheese party to beat this with 6, but smns and rngs are always, always worth bringing along.

The key to it is don't try to clear the floor. Holla sucks because you may have to fight your way, but for dem and mea you can often just widescan for the memory receptacle and MG:Solid your way through.

Level 3 is often the worst because it's generally the "Urban" environment. Lots of buildings and mobs hiding behind em. Plus, the mobs are harder as you get higher. Limit your fighting as best as possible - if you get aggro, pull to a safe spot before you engage. Most important is to STAY TOGETHER. Alot of times, there will be a small window for sneaking through before a path is blocked again. If you go as 1 party, and split up, and both groups get aggro, you're done.

At Level 4 you're looking for the zoneline. Deke your way as far as possible, and if you get hate, have the smn sick Carby on it and just BOOK IT for the zone, avoiding further hate as best as possible. The mobs here are no fun to fight, and it's not like you need to survive for the next level either. {Tractor} and {Raise} the poor saps who couldnt make it and move on.

That said, you can give yourself a chance by picking your battles. Sure you could wait until the perfect moment to deke out the 4 Weepers and a Seether, or you can surgically pull the trouble mobs and give yourself a chance. I don't mind fighting the mobs, so long as I get to decide who, what, when and where, and not leave it to chance.

The boss fights, iirc, were uneventful except mea. The poison sucks. Holla is mildly interesting because he eats buffs from the person with hate, and has sleepga(Poison pots. You sure you wanna eat that buff?), and Dem is a complete joke with a shadow tank, as he has no AoE's at all. Then again all you need to do is get them to 20-30% and then Barrage - Eagle Eye Shot, 2hr, cheese ftw. Animas aren't necessary, but they aren't useless either. If everyone has a full stack of anima, you really shouldn't lose this fight.

Psychoanima Paralyzes the mob, or, more accurately, gives something akin to a warding Circle effect. Lots of intimidated. Open with this, since it isn't the best of the 3 animas, but it makes the first half of the fight easy

Terroanima kites the mob around, so he can't do anything. Very funny to watch, not so funny when your SMN's Astral Flow fails because the mob moved. Great for emergency's and getting from 50%-25%.

Hysteroanima wins the prize. It bolts the mob in place, and he can't do much. When you unleash 2 hrs, fire these.

To be honest you don't need stacks of anything. I went as the blm and the only Item I got was marron glace, which almost lasted all 3 prommies(holla took too long and it wore), and 2 yag drinks. The rangers just got acc food and some poison pots, and the war got a HP regen drink, poison pots and tank food. I don't remember what the whm brought, but it was probably rolanberry pie and yags.

Again, I can't stress this point enough. You aren't out to clear the whole area. Keep your groups tight together as you travel, and always have a safe spot to pull aggro. Mobs here have truesight so prisms are useless.

With the right setup, these prommies are a joke. Except holla, because you have to actually do stuff in holla.

"There are few problems in FFXI that can't be solved by throwing enough rangers at it."

Ok....

Why would you have Pld/War if you have 2 War/Nin to share the hate?

The best setup I have seen is War/Nin, War/Nin, Rng/?, Blm/Whm (Or Smn/Whm), Smn/Whm.

Granted, I have only done Holla. But I have done Holla 3 times now, not includnig the ENM. This setup rocks ... at least for that NM. In fact, the third time, we had substituted one of the War/Nin for a Nin/War....and ended up winning because the Nin 2 hr'd. Unfortunatly for the Nin, that was his 3rd Prommy and he was instantly teleported to lufaise medows afterwards....dead. O.O

So we get a pt together in jeuno today for a Promyvion-Mea run. I have only completed Dem, so I seriously underestimated the boss of Mea. We spend about 45 minutes seeking a SMN as our final pt member. SMN is never recruited, so we say f' it and get a BLM. I dont get to play to often so the only job i had available for 30 cap was MNK. Stop laughing now, I like MNK. Well since i kicked *** as MNK for the Dem run, no part thanks to my Shade Gear (including some +1 pieces), I think everything is gonna go well. Final pt setup was me MNK/WAR, RNG/NIN, WAR/NIN, WHM/BLM, BLM/WHM, THF/NIN. We get to boss no problems, expectations are pretty high. So we rush in, well prepared, and things are proceding good. We get a few sc's and mb's and he is about 1/3 of the way done. Plan was to 2hr when he neared 1/2 way so we could finish him quickly. Then he throat slashes the WAR and hits him, WAR drops while being healed. So I 2hr and proced to die shortly after our THF is dropped. After that both mages and RNG were mangled. Devastating loss to say the least. Back to leveling SAM for now, and put Promyvion-Mea on the back burner.

I put together a party to do Dem today. Setup was WAR/NINx2 WHMx1 and SMNx3. A tarutaru knew a glitch somehow (says only PC works on it) and ported to the Spire when we were on first level, along with another member. So we were 4 people down at the bottom, SMNx2 WHMx1 and WAR/NINx1. One of out summoners would not come unless he subbed ninja, which got another SMN angry enough to call him useless. At this point the tarutaru WAR d/c, and the SMN at spire got back to first floor (dont ask me how.) Anyways getting to the point. MAKE SURE that your party listens to eachother. We only managed to beat 1 MR before they all got mad at eachother. Also, on the way up make sure you have 1 person leading the way, not 2 trying to compete. I was very dissapointed that my group disbanded. They said I (The only WAR left) would die too quick and then they would wipe. I had 5 X-Potions with me, which would recover 750 HP. So i disagreed. But yeah, to end this, make sure you listen to eachother and be patient.
summoner is kick ass

for the four main job combos blm should be taken out and smn should be in it's place.
i tried takin blm on it and it went horrible i didn't do any damage they are too resistant.
smn does loads of damage w/ two hour but they have to bring along ethers.
