Battle Notes

Trade 40 Beastmen Seals to Shami and get a Star Orb. Trade the orb to the Burning Circle in Horlais Peak located in the Yughott Grotto.

This fight is capped at level 40, and only three people may enter the Burning Circle. Upon entering, you will find three mobs from the Hecteyes family: One large Sobbing Eyes and two smaller Compound Eyes.

  • The Sobbing Eyes will cast Firaga I, Bindga and Breakga and is capable of healing itself using the ability Catharsis.

  • All have Hecteyes special attacks, and will spam "Hex Eyes" if the characters are not already paralyzed.

Strategies

A typical strategy for this fight is to go in with a party consisting of two NIN/BLM or NIN/RDM's and a RDM/BLM. Eat food, buff, heal, then each NIN will take their own Compound Eyes while the RDM kites the Sobbing Eyes with Elemental Seal Gravity to start, then Bind and Gravity. Each NIN will spam Tier-2 Elemental Wheel Ninjutsu on their Compound Eyes, making sure to keep their back to the mob to avoid the paralysis effect of the Hex Eyes ability. Once their individual mobs are dead, the NIN's will rush to where the RDM has kited the Sobbing Eyes and spam Tier-2 Elemental Wheel spells again until the fight is over, while again keeping their backs turned towards the mob.

Note: Reports indicate that it is possible for Scroll:Utsusemi: Ni to drop twice from the same treasure chest at the end of the fight.

Alright Just finished This Up today Got my Tilt Belt and Scroll Of Erase.
Party Setup
Elvaan Trio
Sam/War - Me
Sam/nin - Vinz
Rdm/whm - Blackmane

1.Okay before going up to the circle have the Rdm cast barfira barparylyza and all other buffs. Next have the Rdm Gravity + Bind the Sobbing Eye and go back dow the path

1.When you zone in Immediately have Sams Meditate. Wait for Rdm's MP and meditate to get back up and then go after the mobs.

2. Sams Use Tachi:Enpi Only. Each sam takes their own Compound Eye. WS, 2hour, ws, Meditate, ws, ws, ws. When both sams have done all 5 ws then the compounds eyes should be dead move on to the Sobbing eye and finish it off. Do not berserk in this fight it will get you killed.

3. When the sams are done Chainspell and nuke the sobbing eye and then convert and go on buffing and healing duty whilt the sams finish off the eye.

By the way Bring Potions just in case.

Okay I'm going to give you guys some information that might have been helpfull for me.

1. This Eyes have AOE Paralyze and Petrify.

2. Their not all that tough if you can keep these enfeeblements off of your self.

Did this tonight with a Sam/war pld/war and whm/blm. Thought if the whm used ES + Sleep it would knock out the SE long enough for me and the Pld to take one eye out while the whm Kited the other. Boy was i wrong and did it cost us bigtime. The whm had 2 on him which wouldn't have been that bad if they didn't have petrify. Oh and all Buffs except food are removed when you enter which means you have to rebuff and wair for mp to regain before the fight.
I'm going to beat this BCNM if it kills me 20 more times because it's a matter of honor now.

Not to sound to harsh, but you just wrote up a detail filled BCNM guide for something you haven't beat once?

I can understand the methods with it, eh...

Tried this BCNM a few times with the following setup (after cap):
40PAL/19WAR
40RDM/20WHM
40RDM/20BLM (me)

As for equip i swould suggest DD (not tank) food for the pal, and mage food for both RDM's.
Also a buburimu gorget is GREAT for this fight and a malflame ring for the RDM is recom.

Strategy is simple but you WILL need a little luck. Eat food, enter the BCNM and buff up. Cast Barfira and/or barfire. Also cast barpetrify if u have someone who can cast it.

The RDM/BLM does a gravity on the Sobbing Eye and then the RDM/WHM binds/gravs the right Compound Eye. PAL vokes the left Compound Eye and pulls it halfway the Horlais peak. RDM/WHM and PAL start killing the left Compound Eye while RDM/BLM Kites the Sobbbing Eye. At the end of horlais peak the RDM/BLM should bind the Sobbing Eye AND recast gravity on it. Run past it and hope it doesnt do petrify or bind. If it does u are screwed. Altho Fire II and Firaga wont hurt much youu will get smacked to death if the SE breaks free. Otherwise keep kiting it around. DON'T kite is past the PAL and RDM/WHM cuz then it will use AoE Petrify.

Meanwhile RDM/WHM should be killing the right Compound Eye on top of the horlais peak. Keep kiting the SE until the last CE is dead and bring it up. Start nuking from afar and proceed to kill it.

We havent been succesfull yet cuz i got petrified at the turnpoint twice now (even with my RDM resist petrify >_<) and once the PAL voked the wrong eye... On our fourth try we were about to kill the SE as it bound, Fire II, Fire II, Firaga, AeO Petri and slapped me to death.

That's why people who haven't succeeded or attempted these things, shouldn't write strategies.
