Battle Notes

To begin, trade 40 Beastmen Seals to Shami at (H-8) in Port Jeuno in order to obtain the Rare/Ex item Star Orb. Upon receiving the orb, make your way to the Waughroon Shrine zone located in the Palborough Mines dungeon.

Be advised that only three players can enter the battlefield, that their levels will be capped at level 40, and that there is a 15 minute time limit that starts the moment the orb trader enters the battlefield.

Upon entering the battlefield, there will be 8 Princess Jellies spread out in an open ended circle that, once aggroed, will slowly begin to move towards the center of the room.

  • The Princesses will not deviate from their path towards the center of the room and cannot be slept by any method. Their motion can be impeded though with Gravity and Bind effects.

  • Besides the normal array of Slime tp moves, each Princess is governed by a single element that denotes what spells they are capable of casting, as well as what element they are strong/weak to.

    • The spells that the Princesses can cast are their respective element's DoT spell (Burn for the Fire governed, Bio for the Dark governed, etc.), their tier 1 elemental damage spell (Banish for the Light governed, Blizzard for the Ice governed, etc), and the Bind spell.

If any Princess Jellies reach the center of the room, they will "merge" into a Queen Jelly a more powerful version of the Princess Jelly.

  • The amount of hp that the Queen Jelly "spawns" with is based on the number of Princess Jellies that reach the center. (If only one Princess reaches the center, then the Queen will have 1/8 of its max hp).

In order to spawn the armoury crate, all mobs in the battlefield must be defeated within the allotted time.

Battle Strategies

One strategy involved for successfully beating this BCNM involves two heavy DD melee and one Mage, with the melee starting on opposite ends of the circle and working their way towards one another, with the mage curing and buffing the melee while debuffing/ nuking (where feasible) the Jellies.

Another very popular strategy involves a similar setup to the one above, with the notable exception of starting at one end of the circle, together, and work their way around to the other end, while the mage drops cures and bind/gravity on the Jellies. Usually, with this strategy, the Princess Jellies are cleared before reaching the inner circle, and therefore the Queen Jelly does not spawn.

Did this 3 times last night, making me 6/6 on this one. usually if one person gets poor drops, I feel bad for them. This time that didn't happen because we all got poor drops. If you take that list and remove all the good items, that is what we got. I admit that I got a himmel stock, which is something I wanted but it costs 17k or so ; ;. The fight is really easy, it was not even interesting, 2 rng shadowbind first and second on the right side. whm/blm es + bind the third one. Then whm heals/binds random ones probably the most interesting part of the whole battle ( by interesting I mean like watching two flys procreate ) where you have to consider which ones that will probably die first vs how close they are to the center. anyway, the queen never formed once.

My advice, skip royal jelly and do Worm's Turn, yeah it is a pain in the *** because it takes longer and u need 6 ppl who know what to do, but the drops are much better.

Now I have to level a job so I can get more seals, I think I will just dlvl it back to 3 once I get to 10 *sigh*
So much fun!

Did this BCNM 4 times last night, when we had a no show for our static. None of the good drops showed up for us (only averaged about 30k a fight), but we had a blast anyway. Went out there with 4 of us (drg/rng/whmX2) and the 2 whms took turns going in. All four of our runs beat the previous record for Garuda, so I would say that drg/rng makes a good combo for the DDer spots, as neither of us are l33t players by any means.

You can add Steel Ingot, Steel sheet, gold beastcoin and fire spirit pact to the list of drops (oh, and of course Slime Oils!).

Have a feeling we are going to keep trying this one and hope for the good drops!

Just did this today with a Whm/Blm(me), Pld/War, Rng/Nin, and god was it easy. I realized about midway through the first fight that I actually had Dia II at 40 (it's been a while since I got it so I forgot what level it was >.<) and that made a huge difference.

I was using melon pies so I'd have better int for bind. Both the Pld and the Rng were using Coeurl Subs. (Same str, higher atk cap than meat chiefkabobs, +32% ranged attack *_*)

The funniest thing was, Elemental Seal + Bind didn't land a single time. -However-, Bind landed at least 4-5 times per fight and lasted quite a while a few of the times.

We got 2 Utsusemi:Ni scrolls among a bunch of other nice drops. The only thing that sucked was, everything from the first fight was passed to me, but I wasn't thinking and zoned almost as the same time as everyone else ;_; so we lost one of the Utsusemi:Ni scrolls ::cry::
Wow...

We found out that this is possibly the easiest BCNM 40 to beat... We went in with drk/blm, drk/blm, and myself (rdm/blm)... The easiest way to do it is run in and go right to left... Don't bother trying to sleep them it doesn't work... I didn't even worry about binding them... We ran in and killed the jellies off right to left... All i had to do was cure and nuke a little... Bring lots of ether and yag drinks... Fun to do and good money to be made in this BCNM....

Slimes are supposed to be strong against melee attacks and weak to fire nukes ... isn't it possible to rape these jellies with three SMNs using Ifrit 2hrs in key points ??
Quite Easy ^^

i did this twice today with 2 guys from my ls (drk/thf, rdm/blm, and rng/nin). we didn't do it in record time or anything but it was way easy ^^ no big drops either time and we did the normal, gravity, bind left jellies and slaughter right jellies.

the uber embarrassing part though was they were use to quartermasters and it was my first bcnm where i was leader (and we didn't all die ><) so we zoned almost all at about the same time.... we got a marksmen's ring which sells for 10k on Ramuh atm ><

/sigh we didn't lose any big drops though thankfully ^^ we're doing it again later though, so hopefully it'll go better.
even easier

you want it even easier just kill every second jelly as you work a circle you double their distance to reach each other to form queen just remove auto target or face away from next mob during battle.

kill order from either side you like: 1,3,5,7 2,6,4,8.

I would now consider myself to be a veteran at this BCNM as my group has completed it flawlessly over a dozen times. There has been some sound information given on this thread so far, but there are a few things I want to point out.

First off, all that business about using Bind, Gravity, Shadowbind, etc. to slow down the Jelly's approach to the center of the arena is completely unnecessary. All you need to win at this BCNM are 2 melee damage dealers and a healer. That's it. My group always goes as WAR/NIN, SAM/WAR, WHM/BLM, and we have never lost.

Jobs
Like I said, 2 melee damage dealers and a healer and you're set. DD's that would probably do just fine are WAR, MNK, DRK, SAM, DRG, RNG. With decent eqiupment those jobs should be able to tear right through the Jellies with no problem. WHM or RDM would make the best choices for healers, but honestly I believe that a BLM or SMN with a WHM sub could work just as well.

Preparations
After entering the burning circle, buff up with protect and shell, and use food. DD's shouldn't need anything more than a Meat Mithkabob, and as long as the healer as a Juice then he will be fine. Optional items would be HP Regen drinks for the DD's, and a pie for the healer. These items will help things run smoother, but aren't entirely necessary.

The fight
Ok, you're buffed up and ready to rock. Time to enter the arena squash some jelly. The Jellies are arranged in a circle pattern around the outer rim of the arena, and will be slowly making their way to the center. The strategy is simple, send a DD to each side of the arena and start tearing through those Jellies. The healer, obviously, just has to cure them. And that's it. We have never even tried to use Bind or anything to slow the Jellies approach, and honestly we have never felt a need to. By the time the DD's get to the last couple Jellies they might be a little close to the center, but chances are they will be dead long before they can even attempt to form together.

The loot
My group has made some very good money off this BCNM. We've had Erase and Utsusemi: Ni drop a few times, along with a ton of random weaponry. Also, since this is only a 3 person BNCM, you can look forward to a bigger share of gil if you are splitting the money after the items sell.

So if you're looking for a simple BCNM that doesn't require some crazy setup like 5 RNG's and BLM, here you go. Post any questions you might have here, or look me up on Ifrit. Good luck, not that you'll need it. :P

~Amick~

One more thing, my group currently holds the record for the BCNM on Ifrit. Something like 4:15 I think. Have fun beating that. ^_^
Aggro question
# Mar 03 2005 at 2:20 PM Rating: Good
Out of curiousity, when you run up to engage the jellies, do they all aggro you as they move towards the center? (i.e. start tossing spells at you) or do they leave you alone until you start hacking away at them individually?

Other question, about how long does it take for the jellies to reach the center, approximatly?

All the Jellies start aggroing you as soon as you enter the main arena where they are all located. They just fire off weak spells like Water, Thunder, Rasp, Shock, Bind, etc. as they slowly make their way towards the center.

As for time, I would say that the ones that haven't been killed or hit with Bind or Gravity will reach the center in roughly 5 or 6 minutes.

o man. my rng friend told me of this so thought it would be fun. he said easy. that was an understatment! it was me(blm) and 2 rngs/nin.

i would ES+bind the first one on left. didnt last long, but it was there. and they would both shadowbind the next 2 and attack the 4th. i did one fire II on each just to help out. only had to cure like 3-4 times. quite easy. take them out going down the circle in a pattern.

i mean, if something that doesnt take a true tank or true healer to win...HAS to be easy :)
RESULTS

easy easy gil to be made here- i made 6 runs on wednesday-

setup- SAM/WAR, RNG/NIN, WHM/BLM. Melee's used meat mithkabobs and pamama au lait. mithkabobs could be used pre-going into the arena, au lait we popped as soon as we went in, while mage buffed us with shell2. Mage used yagudo drink.

fight- whm/blm ran in, ele seal/bind the first jelly to the left, bind second on left. rng follows with shadowbind on third jelly. as whm goes in, i berserk and meditate, begin hacking on first jelly to the right. rng joins me, we go counterclockwise around the circle. we payed no attention to skillchaining, just firing off our tp when we got it. if mob got close to death, i'd switch to next mob and start on it while rng finished it off. rng should use barrage as soon as he can each time. when we went down to 3 mobs, mage started nuking and diaga-ing. Jelly's never made it to inner circle, so we didn't have to fight the queen.

results- 1 erase scroll, 1 utsusemi:ni scroll, 5 marksmens rings, 2 mana rings, 3 scroll:fire pact, 4 refresh scroll, 8 steel ingots, 1 steel sheet, 12 slime oils, 1 sealed mace, 3 desantre's axes. 1666 gil each fight. Erase sold for 540k, Utsusemi for 360k, so on just those scrolls alone we each made 300k, plus many extras.

recommendations- NIN sub for the ranger turned out to be fairly useless, the pamama did a very good job of keeping our health up, along with a few cures thrown in by the mage. The rng i went with did the same BCNM the next night with WAR subbed and said the berserk made a big difference in damage for him, without losing much to rng accuracy. Our server record is 4 min, 19 secs, and we cleared it fastest at 4-31 and im sure we could have finished under 4-19 if he had WAR sub.

enjoy this BCNM- easy money to be made and lots of fun!

When i first did this, my party set up was blm/whm(me) drg/war and drk/war we did this about 3 times, it was a joke. I then opened it up the the LS i was formerly in, with 2 people i came to know very well. At first they were skeptical.. but i gauranteed a win, so we did it once, we won. then we did it 7 more times or so. Our Set up for the multiple times.....

BLM/WHM (me)
Drk/War (Jiminjen)
PLD/NIN (Queso)

I kid you not, this was such a joke. we won with a pld/nin!!! outcome we each ended with an erase scroll and Ni scroll and a bunch of other crap.

If you need a strat.... let me know. but it was sooo damn easy! easy money! If you need a blm/whm for it. /tell me, Rizzer on leviathan.

I did it tonight with war, drk and rdm and went 5/5. Easily beats out the standard onion bcnm. Same scroll drops, easier, shorter fights and most importantly it's easy to put a party together. Just two DD and a healer(Rdm probably the best, stronger bind and convert, but others should work fine). No need for a brd or rngs.

One note though, noticed some people saying they went as war/nin. I did too my first 3 runs. Monk sub is better. When you're casting utsusemi over and over you aren't attacking, and you're on a clock here. Shadows aren't needed to tank them and counter offers free damage.
easy!
# Feb 13 2005 at 3:17 PM Rating: Decent
very very VERY simple BCNM IF you have a rdm, a drg and a rng/nin.

Firstly, both the drg and the rng kill the first and second left jellies, then the rng switches to the first right one, then from then you kill one each until you meet in the middle.

The rdm part is easy, just cure the drg (the rng should stay out of melee range and keep utsusemi up at all times), paralyze the jellies the drg is fighting, and to gravity the jellies. It works more often and better than bind. Also, at this lvl, convert is a life saver should you get into a bad situation. Leave barrage just in case they join in the middle, but if you work it right because of the oder you kill them, they won't.

I did this BCNM 16 times in a row, cleared out a PT of 4 beastman's seals (the 2 rdm took it in turns to fight) and got a very full wallet as a result =)

My friend told me about this bcnm fight yesterday, saying that he had won 3 times the day before. I didn't believe him because i have never heard of this bcnm fight so i said lets do it right now then if you only need 3 ppl. My whm is only lvl 30 so I went as my blm/whm and my friend was already a drg. No drks wanted to do it with us so we got another drg to go with us and she was even sketchy about us winning. Anyways we went in there and i was told to start binding the princess jellies on the right while the 2 drg started on the left killing jellies one-by-one before they get to the center. It got a little scary toward the end since after a while the jellies started resisting my bind and i had to keep cure up (only had cure2 because of sub whm), but being a blm helped because i was able to throw out a few fire2's to help kill the jellies. The outcome......we won 3 times in a row and got scroll of phalanx. Not bad for a spur-of-a-moment fight. The moral........you don't need a whm, blm/whm gets the job done too!

Just did this one tonight, setup was Drk(tiblorian) Drk(untouchable) Whm/Blm(me ^^).

Started off each one of us took a jelly and bound it, i ele sealed bound it and it stayed in that spot til the two drks decided they wanted to slaughter the helpless thing.

the drks kept moving in a clockwise fashion, but non of our binds stuck really well, so about three jellies go to the center.

So, the queen jelly popped with 3.8 hp, and the drks were doing minimal damage. Tib suggests using soul eater, and Untouch says he will tank. the damage still isnt flowing in well, so i run up, benediction (didnt know if it was really necessary or not), and untouch uses soul eater

now the drks are whippin the livin....jelly....out of the jelly. they make it cry, we pop the chest, and get
Erase (w00t they were kind enough to let me use it, thanks so much again guys!!!!)
a grudge sword
marksman ring
mythril bst coin
2 slime oils

none too bad for nearly having a heartattack when your drk's are being hit with blizzard and thunder at the same time ^^;; good to be 1/3 on this as opposed to 0/3

Might i make an important note though: each of the jellies have a different elemental property. they seem to absorb/nullify elemental damage except for one, which is a strong weakeness. our blm found out the hard way that Ga spells really suck in this one.

Also, subbing thf has no bearing on what drops. Mostly they are random, but you can get better drops by BCNMing on the full moon/close to the full moon, just like any other thing.
hm...

Anyone tried using thf as sub for the drops? should be better i guess...atleast WAR/THF, SAM/THF/WAR, WHM,RDM.

Last night my linkshell and I did this 7/7 times. We got a lot of Mana Rings and Marksmen Rings, Slime Oils, one Bow, 2 Scrolls of Erase, and 1 Scroll of Utsusemi:Ni, we also got a lot of staffs. Our setup was WHM/BLM(me), DRK/NIN, DRG/WAR. This was so easy to do. I would Bind the last Jelly on the right the entire time while the other two teamed up and picked off the Jellies from the left side. For food we used one kabob for the DD and one Yag drink for me per battle. The sad thing was I needed one scroll of Erase to use, so we only ended up making about 800k to split among us.

Ok me and my two firneds did this last night. We did 3 in a row and won them all with them NEVER forming into the big jelly. Our pt set up was....
War/nin(me), Drk/war, rdm/blm

Now my questin is, do the jellys need to form into the big one in order to get erase or utsenumi:Ni scrolls? Cause from our 3 runs we never got any, only about 150k in other items.

The Queen Jelly certainly don't need to form in order to drop the big items. I did this BC today with the following pt: Rdm/Blm, Rng/Nin (me), Sam/War.

We succeeded 12/12 times with out the jellies forming. Really easy. Our strategy was for the rdm to gravity/bind the 2 from the left. Then I (Rng) go shadowbind the 3rd from the left and join the Sam to kill the jellies counter clockwise from the right.

Gravity and Shadowbind helps alot in this BC. I'd say each would last about 2 - 3 minutes. Bind on the other hand only lasts 15 - 20 seconds, but every little bit helps. The Rdm basically kept the furthest 2 on the right at bay by re-applying bind and gravity when it wore and kept the Sam and I alive with cures.

Food wise, I would suggest attack food as the princess jellies have very low eva, and the faster you kill these things the better. I would also suggest pamama au lait for the melee. They are cheap (800 each on Gilgamesh) and lasts long enough through the entire battle. You will want to apply the pamama au lait as soon as you enter the BC. The regen effect from the au lait will counter the rasp and freeze that these jellies like to spam. Also the only spell buff we needed was Shell 2.

Out of the 12 times that we did this BC, we got 3 Erase Scrolls, 2 Utsusemi Ni, and various lvl 40 weapons. So I would say the drop rate for the big ticket items was 1/3 orbs. Not bad at all for a 3-way split. Happy hunting =D

Hello, something KEY in this BCNM is that when there are 2 jellies left to not attack the one in the center!! it wont take damage. you have to kill the jelly that hasn't reached the center yet!

I did this with PLD, SAM (me), and RDM. 4/4

PLD ate mithkabobs and meleed with me, RDM bound/gravitied. One jelly made it to the middle in two of the fights, but the queen jelly's HP is proportional to the number of jellies that make it, so it only had a sliver and we were still able to win. Only death was by me at the very end of the first one when I grabbed too much hate with my 2hr and died like 2 seconds before the queen did. :/

I will say, though, that the PLD and RDM did it a few times later with another melee that they didn't know(DRK or SAM i forget) and lost horribly. I think just about any combo of 2DDs & 1 mage can do this if they are all good players.

I wouldn't recommend it. I went with WAR/THF (me), DRK/WAR, and RDM/NIN. Between myself and the DRK, we just barely killed them all in time; that's with firing WS's as soon as possible and using all our Attack+ JA's.
Super Easy.

Did this monday night with the following party:
WAR/NIN
SAM/WAR (Me)
WHM/BLM

Patheticly easy. Use this party and watch them fall. The WAR and SAM attack one princess jelly at a time, and move counter clockwise around the battlefield. Each Jelly should take about 15-20 seconds to kill. Neither of us had Sniper Rings or Ochidus Kote on.

The record was a little over 6 minutes, we cleared the first round in 5:33, not to bad. Went bad, did it again, destroyed the monsters and our own record for a 4:44 time. Drops sucked, rarest thing was a Buzzard Blade, but it was still fun.

Easy as hell BCNM. WAR/NIN, SAM/WAR, ad WHM/BLM is your best bet for a party. We had no problems what so ever.

Never once in either runs did the slimes form to the Royal Jelly.

Just finished this bad boy less than an hour ago, here's my experience:

I've been itching to do a BCNM for a few weeks now, and a few people in my l/s have shown interest, but nothing came of it as we were all doing our different things. So this evening, me and two friends had nothing to do, and one guy suggested we mess around and try a BCNM (none of us had ever done one). So i do some research, pick this one (based upon your posts on its ease, thanks guys :), and we say "ok, what the hell, lets try."

So we go in as: WHM/BLM, WAR/NIN, and RNG/NIN(me). We buff, utsu, utsu, WHM binds some on right, i shadowbind one, and WAR goes to work on left side, and i go in and spam arrrows while he tanks. We kill them pretty easily one by one, moving left to right, skipping one (to leave the slimes as far from each other as we can).

Its down to two, and they are VERY close to merging...WHM shouts "Eagle Eye Shot!", and I fumble for my EES macro, but I am too late (what can i say, i was nervous). Thankfully, since only two merged, it was pretty low HP and i just kept spamming arrows and WAR was hacking away while WHM cured us. It took about a minute after the merge, but we kill it pretty easily.

It dropped Scroll: Erase and 30-50k worth of other items, and we freaked out. It was a good day, and we're going to do it again...and again... :)
