Battle Notes

To begin, trade 40 Beastmen Seals to Shami at (H-8) in Port Jeuno in order to obtain the Rare/Ex item Star Orb. Upon receiving the orb, make your way to the Waughroon Shrine zone located in the Palborough Mines dungeon.

Be advised that only three players can enter the battlefield, that their levels will be capped at level 40, and that there is a 15 minute time limit that starts the moment the orb trader enters the battlefield.

Upon entering the battlefield, there will be 8 Princess Jellies spread out in an open ended circle that, once aggroed, will slowly begin to move towards the center of the room.

  • The Princesses will not deviate from their path towards the center of the room and cannot be slept by any method. Their motion can be impeded though with Gravity and Bind effects.

  • Besides the normal array of Slime tp moves, each Princess is governed by a single element that denotes what spells they are capable of casting, as well as what element they are strong/weak to.

    • The spells that the Princesses can cast are their respective element's DoT spell (Burn for the Fire governed, Bio for the Dark governed, etc.), their tier 1 elemental damage spell (Banish for the Light governed, Blizzard for the Ice governed, etc), and the Bind spell.

If any Princess Jellies reach the center of the room, they will "merge" into a Queen Jelly a more powerful version of the Princess Jelly.

  • The amount of hp that the Queen Jelly "spawns" with is based on the number of Princess Jellies that reach the center. (If only one Princess reaches the center, then the Queen will have 1/8 of its max hp).

In order to spawn the armoury crate, all mobs in the battlefield must be defeated within the allotted time.

Battle Strategies

One strategy involved for successfully beating this BCNM involves two heavy DD melee and one Mage, with the melee starting on opposite ends of the circle and working their way towards one another, with the mage curing and buffing the melee while debuffing/ nuking (where feasible) the Jellies.

Another very popular strategy involves a similar setup to the one above, with the notable exception of starting at one end of the circle, together, and work their way around to the other end, while the mage drops cures and bind/gravity on the Jellies. Usually, with this strategy, the Princess Jellies are cleared before reaching the inner circle, and therefore the Queen Jelly does not spawn.

Great BCNM. Setup:
DRK/WAR
DRK/WAR
RDM/BLM <me>

RDM brings yag drinks, a must IMHO.

2 DRKs start out on the right side killing jellies, rdm starts on left side casting Bind and Gravity. Sleep won't stick, didn't test with Elemental Seal, but will not stick otherwise. Stoneskin to begin going in helps: Blizzard/Thunder do roughly ~60 damage and RDM needs to cast random cures for melees. DRKs casted Drain for ~3-4 HP, so cure if needed. Basically RDM keeps casting bind and gravity on the 4 closest to the left wall, melees should be killing them rather quickly. The jellies never had a chance to form in the middle of the room on all 3 tries.

this combo worked great for me and my roomate...
when he first tried it the rdm did convert while rasped... ... ... need i say more...

needless to say they dint bother to try again.

later when i was able to do it with him we tried
PLD/NIN
DRK/WAR
WHM/BLM

went 1/4 with this set up with archers ring dropping on second run

Reason we wiped: we *thought* the problem was not enough DD to kill off enough jellys before queen.

later we tried

DRK/WAR (Dyues)
RDM/BLM (Yizen)

basically since we had rdm this time we were able to bind and gravity the blobs since whm was unable to do so we had plenty of extra time to take out the jellys. we actually let queen form to see if better drops but unfortunately we only got a scroll of erase out of five runs
but hey 5/5 isnt bad

things i used as pld/nin
war sword x2 and kampf gear haste belt any other little things u can think of for an extra edge really...

pld should go in use haste belt just before engaging and should handle curing for themselvs and your DD let rdm do the bind gravity thing and back up heal make sure to pop plenty of yag drinks as ur mp is crucial

in fact our rdm only converted on 2/5 runs

it also helps if the pld/nin jumps to next jelly at 10% health of present jelly to get a head start on hate. when u have killed 4 jellys start attacking whichever one is closest to center since they are invincible once they hit center

fight the last 2 blobs to just a sliver of hp and let queen form... a little tap tap and its dead

good luck getting good drops..

Did this one as my first BCNM ever. Bad experience.

DRG/WHM (me)
DRK/WAR
RDM/WHM

First time, me and DRK tried solo-ing each one, starting from the right, while RDM bind/slept, from the left. Jelly's killed me somehow with a 200+ attack that we weren't expecting. The rest died.

Second time, we restrategized. All teamed up starting from the left, taking them down one by one, auto-targeting the next in line. Got to the last one, and it had a sliver of health left... turned into Queen and killed us.

Third time... I don't want to talk about it.

EDIT: Revenge! I talked with some people and got a new strategy. We creamed them 3/3.

DRG/WAR (me)
SAM/WAR
RDM/WHM

SAM started solo-ing from the left. Me from the right. The RDM bind/gravity the two furthest ones and works his way around. DD's should bring Pear Juice and Hi-potions just in case.

Revenge, but no good drops.

I'm not sure it's been mentioned, but two DRG/WHM (or mage, rather) can duo this BC easily. A friend and I did it the other day twice, and each time we had no trouble, and the queen never appeared. If I remember correctly, we finished in around 5~6 minutes.

I found this bcnm pretty easy im 6/7 on it so far. My first time we went in as rdm/blm (me) , sam/war, and war/nin. I gravity/bind/sleep the jellies as best as i can from the left while the sam and war killed them starting from the right. Each fight the orb holder would use their two hour (it wasnt really nexcecary but meh). We won each time although our best drop was erase :(. my fourth time we went as rdm/blm thf/war mnk/war, BIG MISTAKE! The two guys could not kill the jellies even with 2-hours. Two jellies fused to form Queen jelyl with 25% HP and we got creamed, i started running then the mnk and thf immediately died adn i died right when i almost escaped the bcnm :(. My latest 3 runs were me a drg/war and a war/nin. They were probly the best runs and we cleared the fights considerably faster than my other runs. No two hours were nnecescary ( exceptt the drgs obviously :p). Drgs are perfect for this bcnm (polearms does wonders against jellies), My food was 1 rolanberry pie and 2 yagudo drinks per fight. (The pie lasted 2 rounds). Butafter 6 sucsesful runs the only drop worth mentioning was Erase :(

As has been said, this battle is really easy. Two friends and I did three runs tonight as DRG/WAR, WAR/NIN, and me, WHM/BLM.

Our best time was 4:51, which set the record, but we pretty much got worthless drops except for one scroll of Erase on the final run.

It was a lot of fun, but I think I might stick to bcnm60s.


EDIT: did two more runs, got our time down to 4:03, but all we got was an Utsusemi:Ni between both runs. ; ;

Im a bit foggy on all these strategies. Im a WAR/NIN, and I plan to bring a DRK/WAR and a WHM/BLM. To start the fight, me and the DRK go to the right and kill jellies counter clockwise while WHM goes left and binds 3-4 furthest jellies to the right.

Do me and the DRK attack the same mob?
Does WHM need to bring ethers?
Should we be worried about WHM keeping all 3-4 bound long enough for us to get around to them?

A few friends and I did this the other day, and we had DRK/THF. WAR/NIN, and RDM/BLM...me and the WAR fought the mobs starting from the left moving clockwise while the rdm bound and slept from the right counter-clockwise. 3/3 and we found that if you leave 2 jelly's left and let them form to queen you get better drops. The only good thing we got was erase scroll...which i got *Yay* We also got the record on Odin XD

sorry but there is no way that setup will work, first time we did it, last one got close and we got scared so RDM started nuking the hell outa it, problem is that it randomly absorbs spells and they heal them, so it makes BLM kinda useless, sorry

ive done this BCNM 12+ times, first few runs went WAR/NIN(me), WAR/NIN, and RDM/BLM, we go in, buff up, me and other DD use food, doesnt really matter what. RDM uses ginger cookie, rests to full MP, we run in, me and other DD engage same mob moving counter clockwise, mobs go down faster if you duo em, RDM just worries about Bind/Sleap/Gravity all the other jellies and throws cures at us when neaded.

next day went as WAR/NIN, with a DRG/WAR and a different RDM, DRG was doin less dmg then me with axes but wyvern breaths are deadly to jellies, same strategy, never lost.

total winnings: 2 Archers rings, 6 Utsusemi: Ni scrolls, 3 Erase scrolls, 9 Phalanx scrolls, and a bunch of odd stuff, i love this BCNM and encourage people to do it

Did this early tonight with an LS member and another person and we went 6/6 on it.

Setup was:
DRG/WAR Hume(me, Cervantes)
BST/WAR Elvaan(Elode)
WHM/BLM Tarutaru(Django, was Lv 39)

we went in, ate food (me and the bst just used mithkabobs, i dont think the whm used any at all), called our pets while the whm buffed and charged on the left side. Elode took the first jelly and i would take the second and we would just take every other jelly all the way around the circle. I always berserked, jumped, and hi jumped imediatly and use Double Thrust right when i got TP. My hits were doing about 50-60 a hit(90-100 crits) and about 150 a WS. I didnt pay attention to how the BST and CourierCarrie were doing but they finished them off fast enough. Whm just stayed on the outskirts and cured us. By the time we got to the last jelly the WHM was alost out of MP (had about 500)which was fine because we only had one that we were both attacking. twice the final jelly got to the center and made the queen but it had just a sliver of health and only took 2 or 3 hits to take down.

notable drops were:

Me: Utsusemi. Ni and Phalanx on the first go and another Phalanx on the second. (about 900k)

Elode: got Utsusemi. Ni on the first go and hit the jack pot on the second with Ni and an Archers ring. {Congratulations!} (nearly 3mil in total)

Django: only got Phalanx on the first run and crap for the second. (only 150k =( )

we plan on doing another 6 runs tommarow because me and django have 300+seals and elode as 800+

Tore this BCNM a new hole last night :) Me, my boyfriend and my friend decided to give it a shot ofter reading all these posts about how easy it is. I went as DRG/WAR, my boyfriend as BLM/WHM (Rushton^^) and my friend as SAM/WAR (Konda :P). Stuck pretty much to the way the forums say, BLM DoT and bind jellys on left while me and SAM tear up the right. Works very effectively ^^ I used squid sushi upon entering, the SAM ate sole I think. Not sure how effective this was, but I never missed once during the fight (got +6acc from gear w/o food). BLM buffed us up with pro and shell I. I jumped and high-jumped the first jelly, smacked it a bit before using my pamama (sp). Then I berserk too, for fun >:D. Me and the SAM leap-frogged each other picking them off, and BLM threw the odd cure in ^^ Queen didnt form, although it did get a bit close (my last Double Thrust missed- hit the macro too far from the jelly ><;) But the SAM brayed it with Tachi:Enpi anyway. Got Erase from the first run :) (All right!) Sharing the loot. (Shame, that was my orb :P) We broke the record too, lol ^^. Overall a great fun BCNM. Will do again, for sure :)

This BCNM is easy money. Myself and a couple ls buddys did 4 runst of this the other night as DRK/Nin <me> WAR/NIN and DRG/RDM. We rush in, not even buffing <except me and war casting utsusemi> drg/rdm binds jelly on the right and we begin killing em one by one clockwise. War tanks mainly, drg really only needs to worry about keeping himself alive, because me and war keep utsusemi up pretty well... drg hit red a couple times... his bind pissed off jelly's i think, but nothing to get too scared about... we basically work our way around get to final jelly smack it around till its almost dead, disengage and let it form to queen. <we hear you get better drops this way> whack it down with a couple hits and there ya go. was a really nice setup. first run drg had to use yag drink cus he ran out of mp, but after we got it down, he didnt need to use it anymore. I was just stoked that i got to use my drk in a bcnm and have it work out so well... to boot, we got erase 3/4 times <no utsusemi: ni though, which was whole reason for doing em> but hey we can buy the damn scroll with the 900k we made of scrolls.

Wow that is such an easy bcnm i went Samurai <me> Drk, Rdm , first run rdm came out n fought with me and binded but found that she was losing to much health so next run i went right drk went left and rdm stayed back and binded and gravity the jellys we had no probs what so ever but i would had liked some better drops owell we owned those jellies

I when today with a Rdm, Drk and Mnk<me>. We kicked ***!! Rdm when right and we went left. Rdm bound the jellys as he went then helped use kill then one at a time. Took just over 7 mins, record was 6. Nice drop too, Erase scroll and Buzzard Tuck! Good luck to everyone else who does this one. Its great!!

this bcnm is perfect for drg's i've gone there twice (actually entering th bcnm a total of 5 times) and we kicked *** every time...unfortunatly we all got crappy drops every time. 3 drg/mage sub and we all solo a jelly. last time we went we set the record in siren just to beat it immediately after lol

Did 3X3 runs in 3 days for this BCNM.

First time went with RNG/NIN X2 and RDM/WHM. Gone terribly bad. First run, rdm forgot to cure herself, Queen formed, and all the rest of us died. Second run, the other rng decided to try to kill the jelly in the middle (who are invincible at this stade). When he realized it, 3 other jelly were in the middle...Queen formed again. Last time, second rng wasnt able to get into the BCNM for some strange reason. 2-3 min after, he finally get in, but we took too much time, the 15 min was up before we finished the BCNM...

Went the day after (still as RNG) with a SAM and a BLM this time. Worked great. BLM ES+Bind the first Jelly while I was Shadowbinding the second. Me and SAM killed them all clockwise, while the blm kept us alive and threw bind, poisonga and BioII at the mobs. We did this the 6 runs we were together, and Queen never formed. DoT is really nice in this BCNM. When we come at the last jelly, it usually have 50-70% hp left...easy kill. Sadly, we got bad drops. around 210k each for 6 runs...Next time we do it, I`m going with the same pt except I`ll be BST to increase DD (Rng isnt really great for that BCNM...) in 6 success, got only 1 Phalanx and other various small drops.

Did this BCNM 3 times yesterday with 2 other ls guys. Won all 3 times with barely any major scares. Queen Jelly formed twice but had a very little ammount of HP.
Our setup was DRK/WAR, WAR/NIN, and WHM/BLM(me^^).
Strat was just have DD's kill left 4 jellies while I bind and silence the right 4. if your going as whm stock up on int. I had about 18+ with food.

I was the guinea pig and my major drops were Utsusemi: NI and Phalanx.
2nd fight guy got an Archers Ring and some other things
3rd were crap drops. Felt bad for the guy cause he says he never has luck. =\

I have done this one enough times to know that you do not need a WHM. A RDM works A LOT better. Gravity and bind go a long way. Never had a jelly reach the center (went as DRK/WAR, DRK/WAR and RDM/BLM). I have even set some records while doing it.

Well, my pals Atredies and Samuraideli over here on fenrir have gone w/ me on this one 6 times now. We never lost, and I've died on it only once. We go as Drg/War, Drk/War(Me), and Blm/Whm. A drk with capped enfeeble can get binds to stick w/ a good frequency. Drg and I go attack jellies on left, binds go on the right. So far 0/6 on any items worth anything :( So I must say, I'm a little frustrated with this BCNM. But, we'll probably do it again sometime.

I think it's funny when people talk about getting the record when the records reset after every maintenance. My group sets the record every time we go because of the maintenances. Our best time is 4:04, never lost in the ~20 times I've gone. Easy money BCNM.

This is super easy with 2 DRGs, especially one with WHM subbed, we took DRG/WAR, DRG/WHM and RDNG/NIN and got the record for Hades! our drops were moderate, didnt get any high end scrolls or items but it was easy and fun!

i have a question a friend wants to spend his orb but but want to fight so is this possible:

Person1(orbholder) trades the orb and go in the BC
Person 2 and Person 3 go in too
Person 1 leaves the Bc
Person 4 replaces person 1's place in the BC

Person 2,3 and 4 are insind and 1 is outside

and now start with fighing

No this is not possible, if the trader of the orb leaves the area, the BCNM is lost. If your friend is afraid of BCNM then he should worry about later in the game, where many missions are BCNM style. I suggest he tries it none the less, just to get over the fear and get used to BCNM style fighting.
