Battle Notes

To begin, trade 40 Beastmen Seals to Shami at (H-8) in Port Jeuno in order to obtain the Rare/Ex item Star Orb. Upon receiving the orb, make your way to the Waughroon Shrine zone located in the Palborough Mines dungeon.

Be advised that only three players can enter the battlefield, that their levels will be capped at level 40, and that there is a 15 minute time limit that starts the moment the orb trader enters the battlefield.

Upon entering the battlefield, there will be 8 Princess Jellies spread out in an open ended circle that, once aggroed, will slowly begin to move towards the center of the room.

  • The Princesses will not deviate from their path towards the center of the room and cannot be slept by any method. Their motion can be impeded though with Gravity and Bind effects.

  • Besides the normal array of Slime tp moves, each Princess is governed by a single element that denotes what spells they are capable of casting, as well as what element they are strong/weak to.

    • The spells that the Princesses can cast are their respective element's DoT spell (Burn for the Fire governed, Bio for the Dark governed, etc.), their tier 1 elemental damage spell (Banish for the Light governed, Blizzard for the Ice governed, etc), and the Bind spell.

If any Princess Jellies reach the center of the room, they will "merge" into a Queen Jelly a more powerful version of the Princess Jelly.

  • The amount of hp that the Queen Jelly "spawns" with is based on the number of Princess Jellies that reach the center. (If only one Princess reaches the center, then the Queen will have 1/8 of its max hp).

In order to spawn the armoury crate, all mobs in the battlefield must be defeated within the allotted time.

Battle Strategies

One strategy involved for successfully beating this BCNM involves two heavy DD melee and one Mage, with the melee starting on opposite ends of the circle and working their way towards one another, with the mage curing and buffing the melee while debuffing/ nuking (where feasible) the Jellies.

Another very popular strategy involves a similar setup to the one above, with the notable exception of starting at one end of the circle, together, and work their way around to the other end, while the mage drops cures and bind/gravity on the Jellies. Usually, with this strategy, the Princess Jellies are cleared before reaching the inner circle, and therefore the Queen Jelly does not spawn.

Just did Royal Jelly 3 times to day. We passed twice but failed once (we changed our strategy the third time, guess it was a mistake).

Party for the successes were:
DRG/WAR (me)
WHM/BLM
BST/NIN

WHM binded a few mobs, then me and the bst went left and right and killed the unbound ones first. Used Pamama au laits for hp regen to help the WHM out, also I used Squid Sushi. No two hours were necessary. We killed each one by one until only the bounded ones were left, then we killed those too. We killed them so fast in fact that they never merged into the queen. If you kill all the ones on your side help out the other melee kill all his (duh). Hope this helps.
3 times now, about to do 3 more

DRG/WAR (me)
PLD/WAR
BLM/WHM

Round 1: we died... I um... Guess I didn't mention to BLM to NOT nuke, and to cure instead.

Round 2: We won. Erase. /joy 8 minutes 38 seconds

Round 3: We won. 7 minutes, 27 seconds. Nothing worth mentioning for items.

So, we cut our time down, got it right. We're waiting for airship right now to go back to do 3 more.

Round 4: 8 minutes 8 seconds... Erase again!^^

Round 5: 6 minutes 6 seconds (broke record) and Archer's Ring

Round 6: PLD lagged out while entering... Had to exit BCNM. Contacted GMs... They didn't care. bulls*** customer service as always...

Round 7: No worthwhile items.

All in all... 7 runs, at least 500k per person.

Could this Work

If a SMN entered this arena alone, and after the Jellys formed into the Queen, send Ramuh on a killing spree, then Cast 2hr, Will this work or will it be Stupid to do??? Im just curious... I know a SMN has a badd *** 2hr so Info will be great... thx
Leave the SMN home!

I took a whack at this BCNM as SMN. Party was:

WAR/MNK
RDM/BLM
SMN/WHM (me)

I went in as DD and was prepared to 2 hour whenever it was beneficial. First off, I hear the jellies all have different elemental strengths and weakness, so you'd have to swap avatars a lot. Tier II magic gets resisted to high hell. Physical Blood Pacts were laughable. Finally, the jelles actually get stronger as they get closer to the middle, so when they were close enough for me to Astral Flow blast them, it did pitiful damage.

Needless to say, we lost.

Sad to say, but SMN would be my last choice for this BCNM.

Riiiight... Even with Utsusemi:Ichi a War/Nin would not be able to go through this BCNM w/o a single cure. They do get attacked by the jelly they are fighting.

*slaps himself for saying it like that, as it was inaccurate*

While I was getting the attention of the jellies, there were times that they needed curing, but not very often. I cured myself more often than I cured them due to the elemental magic and enfeebles the jellies casted on me.

Anyways...

For people wanting to try this strategy, here's what you should do:

Once you enter the BCNM, buff up your party with Protectra II and Shellra II. Then cast Regen on yourself and head to the center of the BCNM. You can cast Stoneskin and such on yourself, as it does help conserve MP, which is the key to winning this fight. Cure the party members when necessary.

When the jellies get close to you so that they're physically able to attack, run away from them and let the DDs continue attacking. This strategy should work, if it doesn't, let me know and I'll help out.

I'd also like to add that WHMs (with Erase especially) can be invaluable in this fight to remove things like Bind from the DD's. This'll help prevent the Queen Jelly from appearing. However, do not try to Erase the statuses from yourself; it's a waste of MP.

I just did this with 3 LS mates.

We were 4/4 on it. We beat the record times on our 1st, 3rd and 4th attemps but Damn, did the drops from it suck.

The best we got from the whole thing was Phalanx which is now down to 20k. From my run (+ a marksman's Ring from someone elses left over) I made around 17k, if everything sells with the most expencive drop being a steel sheet.

did this not too long ago. 2/2. got Utsusemi: Ni on first run and Erase on the second along with the usual junk type stuff on each run.

PT setup was drg/war, drg/war, whm/blm.

Myself and the other drg were tearing through the jellys so fast that whm/blm barely even had a chance to bind them. We brought in pamama au-laits for HP regen, and ate atk food.

We used WS ASAP and each drg took a different jelly on until we both kinda teamed up on the last one.

first run took 4:33. Second run too 4:11 seconds. We totally owned them, it was such a rush.

Anyway if anyone on phoenix needs a drg to help out on this let me know. IM always up for it, and i dont demand anything as long as its not my orb.

I did this with a LS friend and a friend of his. I went as a DRG/THF, the other two as WHM/BLM and WAR/NIN. We had no trouble at all, survived 5/5. But we got crap for drops, the best being a scroll of Phalanx. :( Waste of 80 Seals for me, but at least it was fun.

OK I am 5/5 on Gigamesh server with a whm/blm (me), drg/war, and sam/war. Buffed protectraII/shellraII, haste on both melee, and ate an apple pie. The melee went left killing each jellie one at a time together, and I went right binding each jellie as time would permit + healing melee. I started with the closet jellie since it would be the last one to get killed. The truth is I didn't even have to cast bind because the first time we did it, my spells never stuck, and they never got into the center to change into queen jellies. That is the only time they even got remotely close to the center, as bind at least stuck on one jellie the rest of the battles. Drops sucked. here they are:

Slime Oil X8 (because we forgot to lot the first time and lost em...? dumb mistake, got the other items though.
Steel Sheet
Steel Ingot
Shikar Bow
Refresh Scroll X2
Mana Ring X3
Marksman Ring
Ice Spikes Scroll X2
Sealed Mace
Buzzard Tuck
Gold Beastcoin
Himmel Stock
Erase Scroll (Once) :(
and maybe somemore duplicate crap items.

All in all I kept all of the items and gave my partners 200K each as that's what we figured it to be by Jeuno AH standards with tax. And Now I'm selling the stuff.

I would not do it again as my luck with this sux. Next time I will probably find the blms and rngs needed for Worms Turn. I hope this helps someone.

I did this yesterday. Drk/War, Drk/War, Whm/Rdm. Myself and other DRK poped 2 sushi's for Acc and the WHM had 2 yag drinks just incase.

Go in and engage jellies on right then both DRK's bind 2 jellies on left. Continue counterclockwise and throw in a bind/stun every here and there to slow them down. Only 1 jelly turned into royal with about 1/10 HP left so we pwned him and walked out with Himmel Stock, Fire spirit pact, icespikes, the BST axe, and a couple of slime oils.

his was my 1st EVER BCNM and the other DRK had never done this one. WHM did it alot so we relied on his Strat. This BCNM was pretty easy and am glad to have beaten my 1st one and break the record. Time was 8 min and something.

Did this last night with WHM/BLM, DRK/WAR, SAM/WAR.

Not too hard, but I think the DRK and SAM were a little worried about ACC, but ended up not really having any trouble. They mentioned that the next time they'll use STR gear since it doesn't seem like the jellies are hard to hit.

I used roast mushroom and a melon juice about half way through the fight. I cast haste on the DRK before we ran in.

Didn't have much of a problem, we all 2 houred at the end because we thought one of the jelly's was pretty close to the center.

Himmel Stock
Steel Ingot
Vile Elixir (this isn't in the list, but it's 100k)
Mana Ring
Slime Oil x 2

I've done this one a total of 7 times so far and probably will go a few more times soon. To make this easy have 2 drgs and a binder (either rdm or blm work). I'm a DRG/WHM and my other drg buddy goes as DRG/WAR and we haven't lost a single battle.

I decided to sub white mage for healing breath, which actually has come in handy in a couple of tries, and I bring a pineapple juice but I have yet to need it.

The binder (who we pick up on a per mission battle, the other drg and I are the only statics) runs in first binds the back two jellies, my bud heads to the left and starts wailing on them, and I head to the right and do the same. We both make our way around the circle while the binder keeps the final two from making it to the center while healing the DRG/WAR (I can handle this myself).

I've gotten Phalanx, Utsusemi: Ni, an Archer's Ring and lots of other goodies. <3 gil

Easy and fun.

ok, so ive gone on this three times and we have all died on the first two(stupid Queen) but anyways, i went on Blm/Whm and we had War/Nin and Rng/Nin.

now somethign ive realized is that in every fight one element will heal them the rest will damage them. this is very frustrating because i dont know which element will hurt them going into the fight. we lost the first two fights because of this elemental eating and we won the 3rd, but alas got sh*t for drops. the first time i dont know which element healed it, the second was fire, and the third was wind.

there doesnt need to be more than one jelly to form the queen. a single normal jelly can form into the queen jelly and will have a chunk more mp and more defense, cast -aga spells and can move seemingly normal speed.

edit: ok so finished the fourth run and we won again and this time wind is what healed the mobs. but we have shaved 1 minute off our times.

now to list off how we do it. we buff up eat our foods. right before we enter the arena the Rng sharpshots and barrages the war then warcries and berzerk.

we go in and the Rng shadowbinds the second one from the left and i bind and bio the second from the right. then we move away so we arent being cast on and start killing the two closest to the entrence. after that i use teir 1 spells to figure out which element will heal it. the war moves to the 3rd from the entrence on the left side and we just switch from closest to the center to the next one.

in addition to casting Bind, Shock, and Thunder; the princess jellies can also cast Rasp, Blizzard, Aero, Frost, Choke, Fire, Stone, and Drown.

ok. we finished all of our runs. and as to the element that heals the jellies, it seems that each jelly has a specific element it will absorb, so each jelly could be different.

also a key in winning this battle is DoT. Bio II is a very happy spell to have. Poisonga and Diaga are also nice spells to use.

after that mi not sure how much else there is to say. so good luck.

lol Pandemonium has a lot higher prices ; ;
Phalanx is 100k, and I think last I knew Ni went for 700-800k. Inflation sucks. When the last update came out the prices of the Emp Hairpin and Leeping Boots dropped about 500k and 300k. Pin was 1.3mil for a while, but it appears to have gone back up. /sigh

The first time we did this I had myself as RDM/WHM (Which I think is really needed, /BLM doesn't give you much cus you cant nuke) WAR/NIN and PLD/WAR. It was slow going but we always broke record. I think we managed to get just under 7 mins. Nothing big dropped (Himmelstock 120k on Ragnarok), but we had fun.

Yesterday I took a couple of peeps from my LS and the same WAR from the last time came as well. It was me again as RDM/WHM, SAM/WAR, and DRG/WAR also a fill in as WAR/NIN. Man, this BCNM was made for SAMs and DRGs. We were never at a point where we were in trouble.
The WAR went once and got the Utsutsemi:Ni he needed for his NIN. I went and got Ni as well and I promptly placed it up on AH along with a Gold Beastcoin. The SAM and DRG weren't so lucky, but they wanted to go again.
I agreed and the WAR/NIN stayed behind. Long story short both the DRG and the SAM got NI's, which sell for 350-400K on Ragnarok.

Everyone was happy. I think the big problem with this quest is that there is such a HUGE pool of possible items it's quite possible to get total crap. But it's faster than Worms Turn and allows jobs that would normally not even be considered for Worms Turn IE SAMs and DRGs. Plus it's only a 3 man BCNM so 99% of the time, you only need to go 3 times, so all you really need to invest time-wise is maybe 40mins total.

I like this quest, RATE UP!

When a melee character attacks a Jelly, does it stop to fight him or does it continue towards the center? I was thinking that if they keep moving towards the center, this BCNM would be pretty good for THF.

I did this BCNM last night for the first time.
Our setup was WAR/NIN, RNG/NIN, and BLM/WHM.
Both the Rng and I (War) ate rice dumplings simply because we had them leftover from something else. We go into the circle, blm casts the buffs and we run up to where the mobs are. Ranger shadowbinds the first jelly on the left, while blm binds the first jelly on the right, and I go for the 2nd jelly on the left and start shredding it with my axes. Ranger moves to 3rd on left and kills that while blm continues to bind various jellies.

This was a very easy BCNM. When we started, the clear record was 7 minutes something, and after our first run, we set a new record at 6:30. 2nd run we set the record at 6:08. And our final run we set the record at 5:39 (this is on Fairy).

Very easy. Ranger and I both used Pear Au Laits and the blm tossed some cures where needed and drank about 1 yag per fight except for the last fight.

Only good drop we got was Utsusemi: Ni.
But it was fun! :) Good luck to anyone else trying this:)
