In-Game Text

Description

Take 30 Kindred Seals and trade them to Shami in Port Jeuno and choose a Lachesis Orb. To enter the battle field, trade the Lachesis Orb to the Burning Circle in Waughroon Shrine and choose the battle Operation Desert Swarm. You can take up to 6 people in and you have 30 minutes to defeat it.

You will fight 6 scorpions.

Strategies

6x Solo jobs: 6 people, capable of soloing a scorpion pull individual scorpions to the corners of the arena, and to the opening cave area, far away enough to avoid AOE and beat the crap out of their own scorpions.

The remaining scorpions get stronger as the their brethren are killed off. The last one to die takes about half as much damage as they do in the beginning and will hit significantly harder as well. Due to this, it's a good idea to coordinate the kills so that they all time at roughly the same time.

BLMS: 2 to 6.

Any info on the weaps with the latents comming from here? I've heard rumors that they may have latents similar to the quested ws weaps, meaning you must do ws or renkeis to remove/add the latents by gaining 500 pts. Thats just what I heard and have no reliable evidence as of yet.
Low VC drop rate.

I'm intrested in the BC, as a 6 BST PT. I want to know what/how u fight this BC. can u sneak pull with pet like a summoner? take it out 1 by 1, or do each BST call a jug. and take a scrop? Any help would be great.

This is how it works in a BST PT.

Solo each scorpion.

First off, bring Carrie. Pop carrie BEFORE you enter the BC. Actually, buff everything up before you enter. Unlike capped BCNMs, uncapped BCNMs do not remove your buffs when you enter. And popped jug pets zone with you as you enter the BC. Check your call pet timers. When your timers are at the 3:00 mark, you're good to go.

Enter the BC.

The scorpions are arranged in the following manner:

A B C
D E F

With ABC being in the back row as you enter the BC, DEF in the front row.

Make SURE that everyone has called out and locked on to their target scorpion.

BST assigned to DEF stand at the edge of the BC, and send their carries in to fight their respective scorpions. ABC BST run in and send their pets in as well to their targets.

Once aggro is established on your pets (watch your pet lifebar), HEEL.

ABC remain INSIDE the BC.

DEF pull theirs into the tunnel leading to the BC.

Space yourselves apart. Make sure that all of you are outside of the AOE radius of your teammate's scorpion. At this level of BST, you should be aware of the AOE radius of scorpions, so I will not go into detail for that.

From there on, solo the scorpions. However, I highly recommend you not use an Axe, OR if you do use an axe, do not use combat gear (use your charm gear). If you hit too hard, you will pull hate from carrie. Carrie can tank these things, but she will have a hard time holding hate. I had my hauberk + thick set + snipers + amnemit + life belt on and I was hitting really hard, kept pulling hate from carrie. All the BST in my pt had to switch to secondary non-axe/scythe weapons so that carrie could hold hate. That means either Sword, Dagger, or Club.

We actually call this BC our Skill Up BC (>.<)b

Expect to use a 2nd carrie on the scorpion. However, the higher level you are, the tougher your carrie. 1 Stack should last you enough for 6 battles.

Once one Scorpion is down, look for the nearest scorpion to you and sic your carrie on that one, but DO NOT join in to help. Sit down, rest MP, and cure your BST buddy.

Through out all that, make sure to keep in constant communication with the rest of the PT. There will be a few instances where you will not see your team members because you have your back to them, or they are in the tunnel. But make your messages on party chat short and sweet.

Summmed up:

1. Use Carrie, wait for timer to be down to 3:00 before entering. Buff before entering. Don't forget reraise, just in case.

2. Separate the Scorpions, 3 in circle, 3 out of circle.

3. Be lv70+ anything below 70 and you'll have a gimped Carrie who can't stand up to the scorps.

4. Don't let the scorpions have overlapping AOE radii. (see #2)

5. Don't panic. If you need a cure, request for it. Remember that there are 5 other people in there who can toss a cure your way if you need it. If all else fails and you're about to die, close your eyes and remind yourself that you're BST. ^^

6. See #2

Finally, save your teammates the hassle of running around. Before you pop the chest, have everyone else run out and exit the BC. Then you pop the chest. That way, they won't be running around Palborough and they can rest up while you run around by yourself.

Best of luck and be sure to share your stories on the BST forum. ^^

Oh, and on another note, RDMs can do this strat as well, they just take a tiny bit longer, and must be a little bit higher in level.

No, they are not charmable. And nope, there is no boss mob. They are 6 identical scorpions.

However, BST PTs are very good for this BC. Our average time for completing this BC was between 8-10 minutes.

Although we do not hold the record. That record is probably held by the all BLM pt setup.

Every time done this with nin drk(or rng) pld whm brd blm. The blm elemental seal sleepga II off the start and I (the nin) voked the front center 1, hit it and dragged it to the side where it wouldn't be slept. Pld just voked/flashed the ones that woke up first. Our 75 drk hit these for 150-300/ hit. Its any easy bcnm. 12/12 on runs we did with 73 brd 75 blm (best to have sleepga II) 75 pld 72 nin 75 drk 73 whm. Claw is pretty rare which sucks cuz I need it for my nin. I'm 2/12 on the claw drop atm ;;.

You can do this BCNM with 4 black mages at lv 74 or 75. All you do is stand at the entrance and have them all cast a lv III aga spell (Thundaga or Blizzaga preferable). That should take them down to 1/2 health. Now sleepga II the scorpions as they rush towards you, run to the other side of the arena and repeat. They should be dead after the second casting of spells. I believe that at least 2 of the mages must be casting Thundaga III to do enough damage. But believe me it can be done. The current record on my server for the BCNM is 1:15 using that method.
very easy BC.

This BCNM is incredibly easy given the right setup. All melees should be subbing NIN as the scorpions do Wild Rage and Earth Pounder only. The key to this BC is the BLMs- the more you have, the better. My BLM friends say it's possible with just 3 BLMs and a BRD; after doing this BC, I believe them.

The scorpions themselves are very weak; I'd say they're around level 70 or so. They have 5000 HP each and were hitting me (75DRK/37NIN) for 80-100 a shot. After they do a special, one of two messages will come up:

The Platoon scorpion's legs are stuck in the rocks! (Bind)
The Platoon scorpion does not have enough energy to attack! (just sits there, does nothing)

Rumor has it the Venemous Claw drop rate was nerfed shortly after the Dec 9 patch. Whatever the case, this BCNM is like free money given the right setup.

I think you will have a very hard time as a level 61 character. When we went, we had 4 level 75's, 1 level 74, and 1 level 71.
