Description

Take 30 Kindred Seals and trade them to Shami in Port Jeuno and choose a Lachesis Orb. To enter the battle field, trade the Lachesis Orb to the Burning Circle in Waughroon Shrine and choose the battle Operation Desert Swarm. You can take up to 6 people in and you have 30 minutes to defeat it.

You will fight 6 scorpions.

Strategies

6x Solo jobs: 6 people, capable of soloing a scorpion pull individual scorpions to the corners of the arena, and to the opening cave area, far away enough to avoid AOE and beat the crap out of their own scorpions.

The remaining scorpions get stronger as the their brethren are killed off. The last one to die takes about half as much damage as they do in the beginning and will hit significantly harder as well. Due to this, it's a good idea to coordinate the kills so that they all time at roughly the same time.

BLMS: 2 to 6.

very ez fight we went 8/8 but man our drops sucked... no claw, ingot or cloth >< but anyway setup was

NIN/WAR
BLM/WHM
RDM/WHM
DRK/THF
DRG/WHM
BRD/WHM

The blm,rdm kept the scorps asleep brd kept songs up for melee and the sleeping mages. drg/whm was the healer for the melee and with a nin tank it worked well.
Great drop

Ok I did this 2night. Lots of reading about all blm ptys and what not.

Our setup was

70nin/war (me)
75blm/whm
75rdm/blm
70brd/whm
75rng/nin
75whm/blm

It seemed that the rdm es sleepga 1 at start was the best and stuck longer then the blms es sleepga 2 due 2 the higher enffebin skill.

We would go in with rdm sleeping the mobs. ranger would shoot one and i would voke it and run it back the the middle of the path leading up 2 the main circle. Blm rdm and brd all sayed 2 sleep the mobs. While me and the ranger killed the scorps. The one we did at nigh time with my af pants on was a joke it probably had 1 out of 10 hits that would take shadows (beside aoe etc). when there was 2 left I would tank one while all of the others would kill the other one. Once they got that one killed i had the one i was on down 2 about 3/4 life and the blm killed it really quickly.

I got my rdm friend last and was a little worried about damage output.
But man these things are weak they die really fast. one rng and ninja was super easy. 4 runs about about 6mill in drops. Not 2 bad no V claw though.

I did get my katana which was the reason I wanted to do this bcnm so i was stoked.

Goodluck all

Me, being a level 73 BLM on seraph, I have 4 BLM friends, who will do this for gil on Seraph. Thank's to the idea of other people on other servers. We do the same deal, you get claw, we get everything else. We average a time of about less than 2min, and we've gotton 1:47 or so, but we figure, we might as well not chance messing up if trying to rush. We havnt lost a fight yet, or gotton close to. If anyone is interested in this deal on Seraph, /tell Squirman and we'll talk.

Operation Desert Swarm

After doing 7 runs of this last night without a single death, I decided to write down our strategy just in case someone decides to attempt this without 5 BLM.

The Set-up
NIN/WAR 71
MNK/NIN 74
WHM/SMN 74
RDM/BLM 75
BLM/WHM 69
RNG/NIN 71

And on our first attempt we replaced the RNG/NIN with a PLD/WAR 73

The Strategy

I believe the key to doing this was having 2 NIN tanks, although the first time I did this I had only one, but I’ll talk about that later.

You can buff outside of the BCNM, do this to save some time.

When you enter the BCNM, there will be a long path leading up to a large opening. After fully buffed, have the BLM Elemental Seal Sleepga II either of the two middle scorpions.

I was the MNK/NIN and I brought a full set of Chi-Blast gear. As soon as I hit my 6th boost, the BLM would cast his spell.

MNK/NIN runs in and Chi-Blasts the front right scorpion and pulls it as far to the right as possible.

NIN/WAR provokes the front left mob and pulls it as far left as possible.
RNG/NIN goes with the NIN/WAR.

Having done this before without the luxury of two players with Utsusemi: Ni, I can tell you this makes it much much easier. Scorpions in general have horrible accuracy and can be blink tanked quite easily. While it is beatable without NIN tanks, this will drastically increase chances of success

The WHM had a pretty simple role, run around and cure anyone who took some damage. Surprisingly enough, this is usually the BLM and RDM since they will be holding agro from 4 scorpions.

The BLM will recast Stoneskin and Blink and prepare for the scorpions to wake. A good way to think about the scorpions is, every time one dies, the others all level up. So as there are less scorpions, their resistance to sleep will increase. From memory, only the first two Sleepga actually slept all the scorpions.

The RDM had to be the busiest job in this set up. He was frantically running around refreshing the mages, hasting the NIN and sleeping any mobs the BLM couldn’t take care of. I also remember him having time to cast some Slow and Paralyze on the scorpions, which from my perspective was amazing with all the stuff going on.

By the time I finished my first mob, so had the RNG and NIN. At this point, all the scorpions have been slept a couple times, and the BLM, RDM, and WHM have built considerable hate. For this reason I would save TP so that I can pull the mob with Asuran Fists. And on the occasion that Asuran Fists wasn’t enough, I’d pop counterstance.

A MNK/NIN 74+ has some awesome tools a NIN doesn’t get. Dodge is a huge bonus when trying to recast Utsusemi, and Counterstance believe it or not is amazingly helpful. When shadows are down, usually you hope to evade a hit, but you can cast Utsusemi and counter at the same time, and this happened quite often.

In the case of the PLD tank, the RNG/NIN can really be replaced by nearly any job as long as you keep the 2 NIN tanks. In this scenario the PLD is very handy. He was able to melee with the NIN, and provoke + Flash sleeping mobs so well, the BLM almost took zero damage.

Earlier however, I had done this KSNM with a tougher set up.
PLD/WAR 70
MNK/NIN 75
MNK/WAR71
WHM/BLM 70
BLM/RDM 70
RDM/BLM 74
And I can speak from experience that NIN tanks are the way to go. We won 4/5 on this set up, but when the WHM has to cure a tank, and a MNK that keeps stealing hate from the tank, MP gets extremely low. On one occasion, we only won because 2 of the members had Reraise up. So it is doable, but takes a very talented group.

Not too much more to say. The scorpions have an AoE move that gets stronger the more you kill. I remember the 2nd and 3rd to last mobs AoE would take 2 shadows and do about 150 dmg to me. And the last Scorpion’s AoE did about 300+ and took all shadows. But at this point, the BLM was casting AM, the RDM was nuking, the WHM barely had to cure, and the melee WS like it was a contest to see who could score the kill.

I hope this helps! Good luck on your drops!

I've did this BCNM for more than 15 times, the best drop I've ever seen from one chest was: Vclaw, damascene cloth, (and some other useless junks). That 2 item alone is already 7Million on my server.

We did 7 runs last night, and got more than 20 Million in total. Only 2 runs that are under 1 Million in drop, and those two guys was pissed (and one of them didnt even lot the junks and dropped them all), coz we keep the drop from our own Orb.

I've already earn 10Million+ from this BCNM alone, so i'll say is worth doing.

PT set up was: nin/war, war/nin, rdm/blm, blm/rdm, whm/blm, thf/nin all Lv75

we beat the record on seraph for this at 1min 50secs, then we broke our own record on the next run :P it was easily done, BLMx5 and 1BRD, I was lvl 72 BLM, everyone else was lvl 73. it was smoothly done and we made around 12,000,000 in total which was shared equally between us 6 poor blm's and brd :D

Blm lvl to do this...

Most blms wait until they are lvl 73+ with thundaga 3. i go along with the orb and a pt of 4 or 5, 74 and 75 blms kill the scrops. They all cast thundaga 3 then sleepaga 2 and blizzaga 3 and the fight is over. Right now my blm is lvl 56 and i'm hoping after this update i will make it to 73+ to fight in this kscm :)

What lvl could blm start doing these runs? Im not sure what lvl it is, but is it ok to do this BCNM at the level you learn blizzaga III? One extra round of nuking these things shouldnt be too much of a pain, right? Im not looking to break the time record or anything, I just wanna make money in the future.
Easiest BCNM ever
# Mar 10 2005 at 12:56 PM Rating: Decent
This is the easiest BCNM I have ever been in. It is both easy and fast with the right party setup. Not everyone has BLM past 70, but don't worry. All melee party can win this easy. RNG75 (me) can defeat 2 of these Scorpions alone. My parties are 12/12 with 6 claws dropping. Just take all melee/damage that are 70+. If you can move to safer areas, do so. If not, don't worry. You will kill them very fast (takes me around 45 seconds).

BLM Ring
# Feb 22 2005 at 1:24 AM Rating: Decent
In Lakshmi, there's actually a ring of blm's that will do this BCNM for you. You provide the orb, and the deal is, if the claw drops, it's yours. And they get everything else. If it doesn't drop you're pretty much SOL. But hey worth the shot, 30 Kindred Seals for a chance at a venomous claw worth approx. 6mil on my server used in making an awesome harness worth 7mil and the +1 version is about 15mil. Thinking about probably having them do it for me when i start getting kindred seals. Not sure yet.

Yeah, there's a similar group on Carbuncle, but with a much more fair (I think) rule on drops: Any item worth less than 1 million gil is yours to keep all the money. Any item over 1 million gil, you must send them 1/2 the gil when it sells.

So basically, You're guaranteed to get at least some gil back, and if you only get 3 mil off a 6 mil claw, well, they DID do the work for you, after all, and I'll take 3 mil anyday.

I just did this BCNM, hoping to get a Claw for my Scorp. Harness.

I got there with a Lachesis Orb. Traded it with 5 BLMs over level 70 helping me out. We entered it. They buffed up. They all counted till 3 and casted Thundaga III. All of the Scorps' health bar reached half. They Sleepga II them all and re-buffed again. They re-casted Thundaga III again and we won! Unfortunately, the Claw didn't drop. I got an Orichalcum Ingot and Philosopher's Stone. Both of these combine to make about 600K, so it wasn't a total waste.

I think I might do this BCNM again. It's too easy and I still need that Claw!

Mmmm... It was hard finding anything useful for this BCNM... BLM PTs can do it, so can BST, yay - useless for most people :P

There are a few things you -need- to know before you do this BCNM or you're going to die in a conventional PT setup:

- The AoE they use gets stronger as they die - by the time there is only 1 left it will hit for up to 300 damage.

- Whenever one does an AoE, it will wake up the others if it is even remotely close (If you are in range for a ranged weapon to hit a scorp where they are sleeping, you are too close).

- They cannot feasibly be slept after the 3rd or 4th sleep, it is not worth your time to try. At this point you need to be binding/gravitying them.

- If you bring a WHM this BCNM is nearly impossible to lose, just case Reraise and you can recover from a wipe and win. We did this twice until we had our strat figured out, we never lost the fight.

I will describe how our fights went, since thats the easiest way to do it:

(72)NIN/WAR (72)THF/NIN (73)SAM/WAR (73)RDM/BLM (74)BLM/WHM (66)WHM/BLM

Enter BCNM, THF goes to pull Scorps, line up against the wall right after the circular entrance in the tunnel. THF shoots the middle front scorpion (doesn't really matter which, but I always shot that one :P) with utsusemi up and runs all the way to the Circle - recast utsusemi:ichi - should be able to recast it and not take any dmg, these things have crappy accuracy (against a THF, anywho). NIN Vokes the red scorp Dynamis style when THF runs past and begins fighting the one scorp -very- far down the hall (Remember, you should be -well- out of range for a ranged attack). RDM ES/Sleepga the 5 scorps remaining when the THF gets to the BC. At some point BLM cast Sleepga 2 on the sleeping scorps, and from here it's just a normal fight. You must -always- pull the scorps way out of the tiny little circle to fight them or you risk them all waking up with recasts down. Mages keep stone/blink up par normal, and things should start getting hairy with 2-3 scorps left (When they're hard/impossible to sleep), but shouldn't be anything too hard as long as you've been fighting out of AoE range earlier. The scorps by the mages never AoEd for us, so it was a matter of ping pong, stun, sleep, bind, gravity while melee killed the scorps farther out.

The reason fighting here is so nice is that if you wipe, you can reraise and still win the BCNM. With this setup if we did things properly it took 10 mins to win the BCNM. When we wiped it took us 24 mins once, and 27 mins the other - and we waited on all members to lose sickness.

This is a very easy BCNM, I actually had to more or less solo the 6th scorpion once because everyone but me was dead or out of MP, and it wasn't horrifically difficult (yay for status bolts), though I did have to 2hr when it was around 30% (from full) when it's AoE dropped me to 200ish HP.

I might come back and edit this later, really tired but just wanted to post up here while it was fresh/before I forgot :3

LVL 67
RDM, DRK, SAM, WHM, PLD, BLM
