Perhaps you should include that the mobs have to be "Easy Pray" or higher in order for the WS points to be counted. Then maybe someone wouldn't waste 4 dam hours doing WS on "Too Weak" mobs. What a waste of time over a lack of information on such a "dedicated" FFX1 Website. >,<
yea.... i took my "Katana" straight to caste Oztroja, took a bit. at times helped people get coffers in return of helping me make skill chains. the scythe trial finished in no time as well as over 25k profit. If anyone is doing this, at lv 72+ those yagudo are a joke, even if it says decent. xept the assasins= annoying ninjas. I subed Samurai-store tp- meditate, along with chivalrous chain, store tp +1 (although needed parade gorget refresh most of time) and 2 Attilas earings for an extra store tp+2, scored at least 3 weapon skills per fight. all wile, fun times.
You can not get the quest if you already have one WS quest activated.
I am working on this as well at the moment, it is a pain to find a good sc pt.i.e. DRG , WAR. for those LV 3 light sc to get 5 points. I did spiral all in one days time.
Grabbed my PLD buddy and we spammed LV 3 drk sc's for about 3 hours on EP mobs , broke the latent, then went to kill the NM.
"GS quest sucks, this is hard. Scythe was much easier."
"[when I did scythe] I just did darkness skillchains with a pld buddy and knocked it out in 3 hours, then we killed the NM."
"This one has me at two weeks still"
Note the last sentence - if he had already killed the NM, he would have the quest finished. Obviously he was talking about the previous Scythe quest - in which swift blade >> cross reaper makes a nice darkness chain and yes, it's very easy to do.
Just to clarify. You must have 250 skill to get this quest. I was a lvl 72 drk with 249.8 skill and he wouldn't give me the quest (already had complted spiral hell quest) and I have hero fame in bastok. I went out and got my 0.2 for 250 skill and he gave me quest.
To summarize, you need lvl 72 (since great sword caps at 249 for lvl 71 drk) and 250 great sword skill to activate this quest.
DRK gets it at a lower level than either PLD or WAR. But Ground Strike can be used by all 3 jobs. WAR can get the quest at 74, and PLD's at 75. Sucks but oh well, strongest WS for GSword is Spinning Slash anyway :-D which can only be used by either DRK or PLD.
Any job that is able to carry a GS is able to perform this WS as long as they follow this guide to learn it. Mainly, WAR/DRK and I think PLD are able to use this WS.
As a note, I don't think you can receive two WS quests at the same time; in other words, you can't start one WS quest without finishing (killing the NM , going back to the NPC, and receiving your WS skill) the first one. I currently am trying to do scythe and GS and it won't let me do both at the same time.
Yes, you will need to finish your Scythe WSNM Quest first. you cannot have both at the same time.
verified by Darkchild, DRK75 on Pandemonium. it is better (and easier) to do the Great Sword WSNM quest first, if you have the possibility, because you get to use your GS in exp parties more commonly than the scythe, which lets you get the 300 SC points rather quickly.
At his point a {Warrior} is your best friend. {Mistral Axe} and {Spinning Slash} = {Light} will be a great way in a party to earn EXP and Remove latent affects.
to disable the "Latent effect" on the practice sword (Sword of trials) you have to do a certain number of skillchains on monsters that con Easy Prey or better. each type of skillchain gives "points", while a level 3 Skillchain gives most points (5?). you need 300 points accumulated (i'm not sure about this number). this is the same for all trial weapons.
the ??? to pop the WSNM tiger is located in a small oasis, some goblins are in that area which you can get TP from. the battle itself took about 5 minutes for a level 73 exp party and can be seen as a tough exp battle.
