In-Game TextDescriptionRequirements: 230+ staff skill to start quest, Lv.71 to wield Trial weapon. Once you meet the requirements, go talk to Shantotto in Windurst Walls. She will give you the Pole of Trials which you must use until the latent effect disappears. *NOTE: The actual text will not disappear, simply the effects* If you unequip and re-equip the Pole, and you do not get the bonus stats, you are done. How to remove the latent effect: -You must perform Weapon Skills and Skillchains on monsters that con Easy Prey or higher. -You must accumulate 300 total points. (1 point for a solo weaponskill, 2 points for creating a Lv.1 Skillchain, 3 points for creating a Lv.2 Skillchain) You cannot create any Lv.3 chains at this point using a staff, so those are the only options you will have. So at the absolute minimum, you will need to do 100 Lv.2 Skillchains on Easy Prey+ monsters to remove the latent effect. Once you no longer receive the latent effect bonus, head back to Windurst Walls and trade the Pole of Trials back to Shantotto. She will take the weapon from you and give you a Map to the Annals of Truth Item and tell you to head to Ifrit's Cauldron. Take the East entrance of Ifrit's Cauldron. If you are familiar with the shortcut to the Cloister of Flames, it will help here. Make a right at the first junction, head past the first Flame Spout, straight through the cave and follow the path around the crater to the drop point at I-7/8. Enter the cave immediately to your left. Sneak and Invis will be needed the entire time. Follow the path until you reach a large room with Bombs, Bats, and Ash Lizards (H-7). 2 ???s will be in this room. The ??? in the middle of the lava bridge will be the one that triggers the NM Skeleton Cailleach Bheur. The best place to camp is at the far tunnel, past the 2 ???s. Clear the 2 bats and the bomb if necessary, then pull to the tunnel. You have 16 minutes before enemies start respawning. Once the NM is dead, re-examine the ??? to obtain the Annals of Truth Item. (Also, Does anyone know if you can have 2 of these Quest WS's activated at once?, I'm ready to kill the Savage Blade NM which might be the problem)
Did this today with 75 PLD, 75 RNG, 71 BST (me), 70 RNG and 69 WHM. PLD tanked with Earth Staff, I 2houred an Ash Lizard, and helped with healing. RNGs stayed at a distance to avoid AoE. When it died, WHM had around 200MP left.

If you look at the map of Ifrit's Caldron, the entrance you take will put in onto the first map. Follow the right hand wall until you run into the Flame Spout (marked on the map). Either wait for the flame spout to drop or bring an Ice Cluster to trade. Once you are past the Flame Spout, head to "A" on the map.
If you look at the 2nd map (on the right), you will see where "A" connects up. Keep going until you get to "Drop P". Take this drop.
On one of the last 2 maps (left side), you will see a "Land P". This is where you end up when you take the "Drop P" (makes sense, huh?). Once you have landed, head to "M".
"M" leads to the map above/right of. You will see the "M" on that one. Continue North on this map until you see the ??? on the bridge. Clicking on this will pop the NM for the Staff WS. After you defeat the NM, make sure you click on the ??? again for your Key Item.

I went with a pretty big alliance (part of a Bomb Queen Ring and O-hat run), so I really can't say how tough the NM was. With all the people we had, the NM was defeated in no time.
