Mission Orders

Follow Prishe to Cape Riverne on the Misareaux Coast. It is rumored a wyrm nests there...

Walkthrough

After speaking with Ulmia and returning to Tavnazian Safehold (Mission 2-4), "Ancient Vows" should now appear in your CoP mission log. In this mission, you will be traveling through Riverne - Site #A01, an area that is capped at level 40. Note that as of the September 2008 update, level appropriate gear is not required for level-capped areas. However, it may be recommended for optimum performance.

To begin, head to the Dilapidated Gate in (F-7) of Misareaux Coast to trigger a cut scene featuring the three infamous Tarutarus, Cherukiki, Makki-Cherukiki, Kukki-Cherukki. Once you are on the other side of the gate, you will see a "Spatial Displacement." Entering the displacement will warp you into Riverne - Site #A01.

To get through Riverne - Site #A01, you must go through four more spatial displacements until you finally reach the BC area. To get through the second and third displacements, you will need to trade a Dragon Scale, which is dropped by Firedrakes. They spawn in the area between the first and second displacement. You will need two Dragon Scales to get through the entire Riverne - Site #A01.

Once you enter from Misareaux Coast, the first spatial displacement is in (L-8). Once you enter this displacement you will be in the area where the Firedrakes spawn. After you have two Dragon Scales, trade one scale to the "Unstable Displacement" in (G-10) and you will be warped into the third area. This area has Atomic Clusters that aggro to sight and magic, so get invisible up and head to the displacement in (E-10) and trade the other Dragon Scale and enter the unstable displacement. This next area is filled with incredibly tough mobs that have true sight, so be careful. Just walk along to right edge to reach the last displacement.

Entering this displacement will warp you to an uncapped area of Monarch Linn where you can enter the Level 40 cap Boss BC area. This uncapped area is a good place to go over fighting strategy and make sure all macros are working properly. After entering the Battlefield, you will receive a cut scene. Now is a good time for the White Mage to cast Reraise. Defeating the three Mammet-19 Epsilons will end this mission.

The Mammet-19 Epsilons are capable of switching jobs during battle. Yellow Liquid, when used, will lock the targeted Mammet's job for around 30 seconds. The different jobs are identified by the weapon the mammet is wielding. The mammets' jobs and abilities are as follows: In any given form, they can use the move Tremorous Tread, which does AOE Damage and stun. It can be absorbed by shadows.

  • No weapon - The mammets' original form.
    • Transmogrification - While active, the mammet will absorb all physical damage dealt to it and convert it to HP.
  • Sword - Fast attack speed
    • Scission Thrust - Directional AOE attack
    • Sonic Blade - AOE Attack
    • Velocious Blade - Five hit single target attack
  • Staff - Slow attack speed, uses -ga elemental magic, has lower defense.
    • Mind Wall - While in effect, any damage dealt to the mammet by elemental magic spells will be absorbed and converted to HP.
    • Psychomancy - AOE Apsir type effect that drains 80+ MP from everyone in range.
  • Polearm - Hits hard but attack speed is rather slow.
    • Gravity Wheel - AOE Damage with Gravity effect.
    • Microquake - Single target damage
    • Percussive Foin - Direction AOE damage

The most common strategy is to have two of the mammets kited and to kill them off one at a time. Jobs that are good at kiting in this mission are:

  • RDM/NIN with good evasion gear
  • BST with jug pets
  • SMN with Carbuncle

Once you defeat all of the Mammet-19 Epsilons, there will be a cut scene after which you will be teleported to South Gustaberg.

I have attempted this BC at least 14 times, and all times it was a fail.

I have done it all... RDM kites, DRK/NIN kite, BST kite, SMN Kite, Super PLD, Reraise...Nothing is working.

2 of the attempts we have gotten close:

3rd Mammet at 50% after reraise...ran out of time.

2nd Mammet at probably 3% before reraise, but too many people died in field.

Truely, the best strat that I have done is an odd one that is a combination of strats. This would have worked if not for a dumb move by our teams RDM that got him killed.

Set up (When we did it, I think there is a better set up though):

PLD/WAR
SMN/WHM
RDM/NIN
WAR/MNK
DRK/WAR
WHM/BLM

We broke into 3 teams:

SMN --> Kites Left Mammet

PLD & RDM --> Engages and Duo's the Right Mammet

WAR, DRK, & WHM --> Engage and Kill Center Mammet

How it worked:

SMN Kite went well for quite a while.

WAR, DRK, & WHM trio killed the center quickly and efficiently then went to assist PLD & RDM.

PLD & RDM held their own for long enough.

What went wrong:

RDM ran away, converted, then came back to a BLM mammet before curing himself. RDM went down. SMN went down also, and with no kite, we just couldn't hold them off.

Thoughs on Changes:

Perhaps replace RDM with a second SMN.

After first mammet down, WAR, DRK, WHM take kited mob, Kite assists PLD & RDM (other SMN).

After seeing how well we were doing with this strat, I would be interested in seeing if this slightly modified tactic would work better than my group's last attempt with it. Has anyone ever done an attempt similar to this?

Did this Mission last Sunday (3rd try) with this PT setup:

NIN/WAR
PLD/WAR
RDM/BLM
WHM/SMN
BLM/RDM
RNG/NIN

We killed the 3 Mammet within 15min with no PT members dead. The CoA was this:

PLD goes and get hate from the 3 Mammet (without engage nor provoke), all mages stand in the tunnel entrance and melees in the tunnel; RDM keeps PLD alive qhile RNG pulls 1 Mammet and NIN tanks it, WHM heals NIN and helps RDM with his job, BLM nukes of course and backup heal in case of an emergency; after 1st Mammet is dead RNG pulls another and the strategy is the same.

It's a MUST to have some Yellow Liquid in order to lock the Mammets in DRG mode and make sure PLD and NIN have enough Hi-Potions as this saves mages a lot of MP and makes thing faster.

It's also recommended that everyone enters the BC, watch the CS and leave in order to save some time (next time you enter you will go right to the battle) and enter again, once inside, EVERY member of the PT must use a Reraise Ring so if you die don't waste time wating for a mage to raise you.

Beat this on my second try. First time I saw people shouting in Jeuno and joined. Can't remember the exact setup, but our kiters were MNK/NIN and RDM without NIN sub, and we had a PLD tank.. Didn't go well. We took forever beating on the first one and wiped before we could even kill it.

Made a group with a couple friends/LS members and shouted for a couple more people. Took our time and built a good group. We ended up with a setup of:

WAR/NIN: first tank, for the purpose of his 2hr
RNG/NIN: 2hr'd on first (but missed. Lol)
MNK/WAR: 2hr'd on first
NIN/WAR: kiter #1 and tank on the last 2
SMN/WHM: kiter #2
WHM/SMN(me): healer and co-ordinator :p

-Tanks/kiters each brough 3 yellow liquids for locking mammets in DRG mode
-SMN and WHM brought a few yagudo drinks and hi-ethers (I brought 5 of each, but used 2 of each)
-Mages used mp food, everyone else used DD food
-Everyone brought several hi-potions to save mp. Most people didn't use them because it went very well

Only problem we had with our strategy was the SMN was healing the NIN and got agro from both the mammets being kited right as we finished off the first one. Wasn't a big problem. Told the NIN to keep kiting one after the SMN died and the WAR/NIN ended up tanking the second one too. Other than the SMN dying, we had no problem at all.

Most of us ended up reselling most of the potions/ethers/drinks we'd brought, but it was good to be over-prepared.

I think the most important thing is to kill the first one fast. Even if you wipe after that, you can reraise and you only have 2 to deal with. This is why we had the WAR, MNK and RNG use 2hrs on the first one. Glad we didn't have to wipe though. Hehe. Now for some mountain-climbing.. :p

Did this BCNM with this set up: NIN/WAR DRK/WAR RDM/NIN RDM/NIN BLM/WHM WHM/BLM

NIN voked middle Mammet and popped it with a yellow liquid as RDM gravitied other two Mammets and popped yellow liquids. NIN took Mammet back to the tunnel where WHM cured him and DRK and BLM helped kill off the mammet.

Bind is your best friend, RDM make sure you have your gear set up for a sufficent bind, RDM's were able to stick bind almost nonstop and it would last a good 30 seconds where they could rebuff and even cast a few debuffs on the mammets. Gravity when possible, though it starts to be resisted after a while. Suggested kite strat is to circle around the room, if each RDM keeps to their own Mammet then when the NIN goes to take one there shouldnt be any linking up issues.

Overall the fight was very easy, very overrated, I was expecting a much more challenging fight, however it was fun.

did this lastnight with few ppl that were shouting in jeuno, setup was pld/war, rdm/nin, smn/whm, war/nin, rdm/blm and nin/war (me).

first time me and the rdm/nin just went in and kited them, we were doin fine till mine changed to blm form, i managed to get away from the first few nukes, but when he is in the middle of the arena there is no way to avoid the aga spells (unless you run into the tunnel which puts the main pt at risk). Basically i died and my mammet went after the rdm that tossed me a cure. Since i had RR up, i used it and popped a potion, and voked the mammet off the rdm, since it was still in blm form, it tossed 2 nukes at me and i died again. Other rdm went down and rest of pt ran away.

2nd time we went in with no 2 hrs and i decided to just tank my mammet straight up, figuring that if it was in blm form, then at least id have a chance to interrupt it. I recommend this approach, b/c u can see what exactly it is doing so u know when to use yellow liquid. I just enfeebled him and nuked a good bit and used some throwing stars. I was able to lock him into drg form like twice, which made it pretty easy. It changed into blm once, and i took a few aga spells, but our rdm was able to run out and save my butt with a cure 3.

All in all, it wasnt as hard as i had heard, but maybe we just got lucky :P. My advice is to bring as much yellow liquid as u can, because if your kiters can lock them into drg from for the whole time, there is no reason why a nin cant solo a mammet (in drg form)

That's right, beat it on the second try with 7 seconds to spare. Talk about a lucky break..

We wiped first time and re-wiped when BST got aggro after RR'ing, SMN and WHM ls friends outside the BCNM raised us for a second attempt which went very well, only the BST died.

We basically did the zombie method of killing the first mammet and the WHM and RDM(had RR earring) reraised and raised the rest of us, rested to full, grabbed another mammet, BST kited the other while we took them down one by one. Everyone 2hr'ed with the exception of the WHM.

Setup:

MNK/WAR(me), NIN/WAR, BLM/WHM, BST/WHM, RDM/NIN and WHM/BLM.

Beat it in 29:53 haha. Tough fight but once you have one mammet down it becomes 10x easier.
Guaranteed Win.

Completed this horror finally last night. 4th Attempt. After previously failing the Super PLD twice and again using 3 SMN in Pt Setup.

Party was Pld/War,Whm/Blm,Bst/Whm,Nin/War,Blm/Whm,War/Nin

Everyone had 1x Persikos au lait. And 4 or 5 Hi potions. Maybe 7 or 8 for the Pld. And Good Food. Each tank had a yellow liquid to use.

First up. Bst,Pld and Nin run ahead into the BC. Pld vokes the centre mammet and pulls it into the tunnel.Nin and Bst each pull a mammet to the left and right respectively. Nin spamming shadows and Bst summoned Crab Familiar (who was particularly sturdy through out I might add.)

Meanwhile. Blm, War & Whm hang about in the tunnel and start taking out the Pld's Mammet. Once it was @ 75% Blm nuked and Pld 2hrd to keep hate. Was the longest to go down. (btw I think the whm had to nip into the main arena once or twice to heal the bst and nin..but it didnt get hairy at all.)

When done. Blm,War,Whm,& Pld help the Bst. This one went down pretty quick. But keep an eye out for Transmogrification. (Physical Shield) As any dmg inflicted on the mammet will heal it. I think I timed this to last around 30-35 seoonds. If it casts this have everyone disengage and have one person test after about 20 seconds or so.

After the Bst's mammet went down it was a breeze. I think we knew we had done it then and it was probably sheer excitement, but the last 90 seconds are almost a blur because we knew we were going to win and after failing so miserably the first 3 times. And after having such a hard time forming a party. ( 2 hrs At least it took just to form party with people leaving and messing us about.)

Well. We whooped our asses off at the end. There wasnt a dry eye in the house. lol!!

Thanks to Stormboy...for always knowing which way to go.
Thanks to Goushiro...for never ever complaining, even when he should've done.
Radiator....for insisting I invite him when I wanted a SMN.
Wulfgar for jumping in at the last minute and being the best goddamn nin tank Ive ptd with.
And Zimzam for making me laugh my head off at Courier Carre and proving that BSTS are a mean machine in a BC.

Thanks for enduring my headpecking, my 3 am mood swings, the endless " Right I want to go over the strategy again..." Party calls. And for teaming up with me and beating those nasty sons of ********

I'm so sick of getting bossed around by melee that don't have a clue. It's simple 555 is average Astral Flow damage. So x6 and youre already doing 3000 damage atleast to the mobs. AND avatars are still up. Smns run away and KaBOOM. about 2 mins its over.

sorry, hit enter instead of tab.
Our Linkshell goes on events like this, and we normally do a pretty good job. Did this last night and we completely decimated the Mammets.

Setup: SMN SMN SMN BLM WHM PLD

Pld goes in and draws hate from all 3 mammets and vokes one, then the SMN use Astral flow with avatar of the day, Leviathan for us, afterwards the BLM elemental seal, Stonega II, PLD cures the BLM to get a small ammount of enmity on all mammets and then goes Invincible. BLM Manafont, if needed, and unloads all of his/her -ga spells while the SMN get ready for 2nd Bloodpact.

after the 2nd round of Tidal waves, and my (the BLM) constant nuking, we defeated them and set the record on Ramuh server.

The only meds that were used were a few MP regen Drinks, this strategy seems to be rock solid, and I hope it helps others.

the 4 SMN wont work as easily because there isn't someone to get hate on all the mammets for the PLD to get hate with a cure to invincible.

Did this today with what seems like a fairly different party setup then every one else.

NIN/WAR
BST/NIN
RDM/NIN
BST/WHM
BRD/WHM
DRG/WAR

We did one dry run to check things out and past that slapped around all three of them on our real run. We had 1 Yellow liquid and everyone was carrying hi-potions with mages having high ethers. Both BSTs Two-houred a Carrie at the start and then BST/NIN kited one mob with Carrie while RDM/NIN kited the other with gravity. The rest of the party engaged the remaining mob with the BRD and BST healing the NIN who also used Hi-potions.

End result was a 16:20 time and 3 corpse. None of which belonged to my party.

Ah.... an empty post is just part of the frustration
I'm already feeling with this mission.

Well, we had 6 people. NIN, NIN, NIN, WHM, WHM, WHM.

We had a plan. Each NIN would have a WHM to heal and haste.
Each pair would tank one of the three mobs. We had yellow fluids,
we had yag drinks, we had a plan.

I don't think we even touched them.

Okay, when you enter, you get a cutscene. Once
people get the cutscene, the battlefield is locked
to any other party members who were
late entering the field.

So 4 of our party got in and watched the cutscene
while I and the other WHM clicked fruitlessly on
the Spatial Displacement. They escaped the battlefield without trouble
and we gathered around the Spatial Displacement again.

In, I began to watch the cutscene. I got to say,
this story is fascinating and I really like Prishe.
But the 4 who had seen the cutscene decided to go
to the edge of the field and determine what job
the 3 Mammets had. The Mammets have a long aggro
range - so they started the battle.

While me and the other WHM were still in the cutscene
- without buffs, reraise or hastes.

As the cutscene ended, the last of my party died.
I tried to turn and run, madly targetting the Spatial
Displacement. I clicked on the wrong option 'Stay',
the 3 Mammets beat me down in 4 hits and it was
all over.

No reraise up on any of our WHM meant we were
completely finished for the night. I'm not sure
if we need to get another 2 Dragon Scales to get
back over to Monarch Linn.

So..... we learned.....

1) No one goes away from the Spatial Displacement
until EVERYONE has completed the cutscene.

2) Reraise is not an option.

3) Reraise is not an option

4) They don't do that much damage as I thought -
it is a survivable mission IF everyone is prepared.

As for me, I'm now down 1600 XP from WHM68 again...

We used death as a strategy.

At the beggning of the fight we all use reraise earring. Then went out to kill one of the faceless-19. when that one died most of the pty was @ 1/2 hp and 1/2 MP (not good shape with 2 more to kill). so we ran toward the exit and died there on purpose. when the mammot-19 ran into their circle again we re-raised healed up and won

It basically turns the BCNM instead of a 6 VS 3 with 1/2 hr time limit to a 15 min 6v2 which was alot easier.

RDM/NIN

needless to say the smn and rdm are kiting the 2 mobs. PLD has all the yellow liquid, we had like 6 of them, and lock dragoon job.

Pld voked, mnk 2hr and wooped its *** in about 1 minute. Pulled the one smn was kiting. Smn 2 hred. Mob dead soon after. Then went all out on final mob, it had no chance.

Did this last night. First run was just a suicide run to get a feel for it (or so I'd like to say, I'm sure they probably thought we were gon'na get it on the first try). Party set-up was

NIN/WAR
NIN/WAR
MNK/NIN
WAR/NIN
RNG/NIN
WHM/BLM (me)

Both our trial and second attempt we had the NINs kiting the left and right Mammets in opposite directions in the circle and had pulled the middle Mammet to the hallway to fight it. For some reason, kiting was what utterly destroyed us. It was really hard for the NINs to keep hate because they couldn't use the liquid on the Mammets and they kept changing to BLM all at the same time. -Agas being spammed completely and utterly sucks. We ended up wiping. The MNK/NIN totally wasted his 2hr because the Mammet used that damage--/>HP move literally after the first hit. It was funny as hell. But anyway, we wiped, so I Reraised and we changed strategy.

Both NINs straight tanked their Mammet on either side of the circle while the rest of the melee beat on the middle one in the middle. All tanks used the yellow liquid on the DRG-type form to make tanking them all the easier. With straight tanking it only took us 10 minutes to clear, we broke the record of 13 minutes. And to top it off we had no 2hrs, because they all got wasted in the previous fail run.

So yeah. They don't -need- to be kited. And you don't really need 2hrs. They would have made it a hell of alot easier, tho >.>;;;

Beat this tonight with a setup of
WHM BLM SMN NIN BST BST in 16 min flat.

Originally bst were kiting, but carby turned out to work better than Couriercarrie up to a certain point. With 3 kiters, what worked is one BST acted as DD on the 1st mammet with the BLM WHM NIN all beating on it, while the other BST and SMN kited the other two. Once the first fell, the 2nd bst died, so he reraised and the smn continued kiting as the same four took out the 2nd mob. About halfway through the 2nd the smn ran out of mp so the bst ran out to take over kiting. By this time the 2nd bst unweakened, called pet and the remaining mammets fell quickly.

The BLM form is **horrible** and will literally spam -ga magics. SMN can deal with this better than a BST, we found. However, having both for our setup was nescessary and helped us much to use each kiter properly.

If you can kite the two with no problems, the individual mammets aren't really a challenge if you have 4 people on one.

I have been going this BC for 4 times, 3 lose 1 win. I was using smn to kite.
First time reach BC with preparation (pt config: nin, smn, rdm, drk, war and forgot…….), 1st lose. After Reraise with very few medicine left, 2nd lose.
Second time reach BC with more preparion (nin, nin, smn, smn, whm, rng), 3rd lose. 4th after Raise run with few medicine left, win!

My sharing of kiting (smn):
I heard that smn kite is a must, so I did all run using smn. But I have been sealing smn for ages, and did not read much information about how to kite, I failed to kite for the first 3 times.

One of my pt mates (helper) gave me some insight from his observation with other run kited by smn, so I did the following:
1. Use Fenrir kite. Carbuncle with mitts is good for MP conservation, but Carbuncle is really too weak in either physical and magical defense. I can tell the difference in recast time.

2. Use "Attack" to 1 of the mob at the start. When the mob is hitting pet, USE "Retreat", and smn run back to the entrance of BC (east of the BC). Pet and the mob will be fished out of the other 2 from melee. When smn and the pet near the entrance of BC, use "Attack" again, and the smn run to the other end straightly (to the end of the circular field). Wait the pet to die and resummon, while you will see the mob very soon. Wait the mob run toward smn the "Attack" again at the end of circular field. Make sure the pet is not too near with other 2 mob. Pet hold the mob then smn run back to the entrance (use "Retreat" if the mob is too close to ther other 2) then repeat the process. When the pet was still fighting while the smn was in the other end, there was enough time to use Blink.
Leaving the mob only in the circular field is not a good way to kite.

For the 4th fight, I only had 1 Yagudo Drink and 1 yellow liquid left, but the thing was running very smooth.

Holding 1 mob completely is the key to win this BC. Hope this help the fellow smn.

i finally beat this tonight setup was

pld - me
bst
bst
rdm
whm
nin

eveyone bought a reraiser
we all went in me and nin tanked 1 while 2 bsts kited another rdm assisted the kites with slow, gravity etc, while whm assisted tanks things didntr look good at first we only just managed to kill the first 1 but we all went to entrance when we died, waited for remaining 2 mammets to go back to centre then reraised, when all our weakness wore we all went back in.

me and a bst on 1 and the nin and a bst on another - well the rest is history - we used our yellow liquids to lock em in drg form and beat em down just before the time limit. so id highly recommend eveyone bringing reraisers - as long as you kill the first 1 the rest is easy. of course u also need lots of potions and yag drinks!
You can't kite BLMs.
# Sep 18 2005 at 7:12 PM Rating: Excellent
This was hellish. My party told me to come as RDM/NIN, one of the kiters, fine, I got some earrings, an Emp pin, all the good stuff. We get there, and suddenly I'm the only kiter. That's fine, I guess...

Then we start. I get them going in circles, my shadows absorb some damage, my stoneskin takes some, and I tell them to use the yellow liquids.

They don't.

Boom! Two black mages. I start getting nuked by blizzaga and aeroga, which I can't put shadows against, and my stoneskin is too slow. I die, my party dies. Of course it's my fault, right?

Try again. Party says to this time, cast magic on them to slow them up some. I tell them to use yellow liquids when I say, I'll tag one for reference with a spell. Since they bought the last of them of AH and hadn't given any to me, they were going to do it.

We start again. One's a melee, and the other is a Dragoon. I say to use the yellow liquids...nothing. I gravity the WAR, which doesn't stick, and Bind the DRG. I kite for a white. I ask for them to use the yellow liquids again, since they hadn't given me any, still.

Tada! Two BLM again. I silence one and try to match bar-spells with the other while kiting the silenced one. Silence wears and I just get bombed with magic, and there's nowhere to get out of range in the small arena.

So yeah. Moral of the story? The kiter isn't magical. You cannot kite mobs that can attack you from almost anywhere. Somebody has to stick yellow liquids on them as melee, or it just won't work.

I of course got blamed, because apparently I was supposed to traverse some unforseen dimension of movement to avoid getting nuked.
My own run on Sept. 4, 2005

Heya, did this setup a couple days ago. Our party was a bit different I'd say, and took us 2 attempts before we won.
RDM/NIN (Myself, kiter)
PLD/WAR (Tank)
NIN/WAR (Other kiter)
WHM/BLM (Healer)
MNK/NIN (DD)
SMN/WHM (Sub-healer, kiter healing duty)

First run, had to get a feel for it. Used minimal meds, blah blah. Second run, got wrecked right before the second one died. We tried getting our SMN to kite...didn't go so well. Last one, I had noticed I made a pretty powerful mistake. Didn't pay attention to my kiting partner's HP, didnt land a Cure III on him in time. Luckily, the party had just finished off the other Mammet. I died from a Cure III to the tank too early, and got popped with a 209 Microquake. /cheer

Had a couple ethers (regular and Hi's), same for potions, yagudo drinks and a few yellow liquids. I had about 7 leftover mulsum, this did pretty good actually. 10 MP a pop while eating them up fairly quickly does wonders. Could've avoided 2 deaths if I had managed my cures right, but eh, we won. Should have a video posted from our SMN on the forums very soon...All in all, this BC isn't too hard. Get a feel for it on a suicide run, then give it everything you've got. Good luck with this mission, feel free to PM (at your own risk!) if you need any help regarding the BCNM.

EDIT: Wonder how I ever made it through third grade english...

My Pt was lucky. we had
PLD/WAR
PLD/NIN(me)
SMN/WHM
SMN/WHM
WHM/BLM
BLM/WHM

We went in ready to do a slight variation on the kiting strategy. We were gonna have the 2 SMN each kite a mammet while I pulled back the third with flash and both us PLDs the BLM and whm killed the third. Then after we killed the first we would all go back to the zone die and reraise so we could full heal then go back and finish off th eother two. well, we went up and my Flash kept getting interrupted so we ran around in a frantic mess for a few minutes before 4 of us were dead. (stupid invinc ible doesn't save you from getting "event skipped" while trying to escape). so having everyone's reraise worn off and one PLD 2HR gone we had little hope. we sat there for about 5 minutes before we came up with a new strategy.
I go in, Flash one of them then the other paladin uses flash on the second and provoke on the thrid and heals me for hate on all 3 then uses invincible to hold permanent hate. While he was doing that BLM and the SMNs 2HRed and spammed magic while I gave backup healing and light damage. It was a short and sweet battle. We killed the first Mammet when the other two only had about 1/5 HP left so we finished them off. The previous server record was 13 1/2 minutes and we did it in 5 1/2! :3
The Reraise Attack; or, Stick to the plan?

Our party was:
WHM/SMN
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
NIN/WAR
RDM/NIN
RDM/NIN

Items: The party had three yellow liquids going in, too much reraise equipment (but it helps), lots of Yag Drinks and cookies, and that was it.

We did the kiting method and it was ALOT of fun! Our leader/guide was a little jaded from past attempts, so we thought we'd try it first, die, reraise, and go again for real. But we won first time! :D

Go in and buff then the RDMs and NIN pulled their respective Mammets. The NIN grabbed the middle and pulled it back to the hallway where the two BLMs had setup. Those three took care of that one while the BLMs assumed responsibility for healing the NIN.

I as WHM stood in the middle of the circle with the intention of healing the two RDMs and silencing the mammets. I ended up helping kite as well. :D So myself and two RDM/NIN ran around the field with the two other Mammets until the NIN got rid of the first one. This is why this is so much fun.

The BLM/WHMs heal and nuke and the tank goes mano-a-mano against the Mammet. Fun times! Meanwhile the other half of the party just runs in circles and tries to stay alive. This isn't a traditional fight where you engage in one spot and cast from a stationary position. You have to be able to run and cast almost at the same time (without spell interuption). That's why I enjoyed this BCNM - you have to think on your feet and move around.

Also a RDM and BLM died but that's why Reraise is so important. They recovered while their partner handled the job. I couldn't get enough mp up to raise the BLM after he died again so a weakened RDM had to. You can't rest while running after Mammets.

On the third Mammet we just went out. BLMs Manafont and RDMs Chainspell and it was gone. The NIN tank did a great job. I stayed alive and only had to Benediction to save myself. When I tried to stand in the middle and cure the RDMs, I pulled hate from both and took a beating for awhile. After that I just helped kite, cure, and silence and it was good.

My advice is not to psych yourself out. Bring comfortable shoes. And be ready to improvise. You won't do well if you hope to setup camp and then stick to the plan. This is definitly a Leroy Jenkins type mission.
Alternate Strategy

Not sure if anyone's posted about this yet, I didn't read through all of the posts about this mission, but there is an alternate strategy to this battle, other than kiting two of the mammots. It requires two tanks (two PLDs work great, I'm thinking two NINs would work pretty well too, or a NIN and a PLD, one WAR might work but definitely at least one NIN or PLD) and two healers. Here was our party setup:

PLD/NIN
PLD/WAR
BLM/WHM
RNG/NIN
RDM/WHM
SMN/WHM (me)

For starters, this strategy doesn't remove the necessity for items. I think everyone except the RNG used at least 4 yagudo drinks, and the PLD/NIN used 9-10 hi-potions, an x-potion, and a hyper-potion. I used 2 hi-ethers and 2 hyper-ethers. Not sure if anyone else used any potions or ethers, I think the other PLD had at least a few potions, but not sure what kinds.

Anyway, we started off with the PLD/NIN running in and aggroing all three mammots, but NOT pulling hate in any way -- no flash, no engaging, nothing. The PLD/WAR voked one of them off and dragged it back into the hallway, where the RNG, RDM, and BLM proceeded to take it down as quickly as possible (RDM mostly played healer.) The PLD/NIN and myself stayed out in the battlefield, where the PLD/NIN continued to "tank" the other two mammots without engaging them. This way, I was free to cure him as much as I could without pulling hate myself. After the first mammot went down, the PLD/WAR came back and voked another one and repeated the process.

The first part of the battle was the scariest. Our RNG went down relatively soon after the battle started, before the first mammot had even been killed, when he pulled hate with Barrage. Luckily, even though the first mammot wasn't dead, it was close to being so and the group managed to take it down. Meanwhile, the PLD/NIN was struggling to stay alive; he literally had to spam using potions a few times to keep his HP up, along with me curing him. The RDM stayed between the main group and the PLD/NIN and myself to throw in the occasional Cure III on the PLD/NIN, which helped a lot.

After the first mammot went down, things went quite a bit easier. The PLD/WAR came in and voked the second mammot off the PLD/NIN while the RDM raised the RNG. From this point on the PLD/NIN had a much easier time staying alive, thankfully, only having to tank one mammot. The second mammot took a little longer to go down, but we managed to get it with no close calls.

The third one got a little messy since we were low on MP and supplies by that time, but I think nearly everyone 2-hred on this one. I know the BLM, both PLDs, and myself did, and the RNG might have; I know he used EES sometime during the battle, just not sure when. It may have been easier if the BLM and RNG had 2-hred on the first mammot to take it down easier, so we could relieve some stress on the PLD/NIN sooner, but whatever, we still won. The RNG did go down again during the battle with the third mammot and the rest of us came really close (I was down to 12 HP when I 2-hred).

A few things to note: We did use some yellow liquid, at least one on the first mammot and two on the second, not sure about any on the third. I think it helped a lot, just be careful about which job you use it on.

Near the beginning of the fight, I was standing pretty close to the PLD/NIN curing him and I got smacked with Aeroga -- it hurt a lot, so try to stay out of AoE distance if you do this.

Also, if you decide to use this method, be very sure NOT TO REST near the PLD "tanking" the two mammots. Since he doesn't actually have hate on them, resting near them WILL pull hate off him. I was able to rest in the hallway near the RDM when the PLD/NIN was out in the main battle field. Just make sure you're not in AoE distance, or maybe a little further than that to be safe, and you should be fine.

I'm not sure if this method is easier or harder than the tradiational kiting method; this was the first and only time I've done this battle, and we won on the first try, so I think this works quite well. We talked about me possibly kiting one of the mammots, while the PLD/NIN tanked another and the main group killed one; this may have been easier as well, so might be something else to try. Either way, you still need to come prepared with items and such, but it is an alternate setup in case you don't have any decent kiters available. Good luck!

This fight is really not as hard as it's made out to be, I did it today with this setup:

PLD/WAR
WAR/DRK (I know, weird...)
RNG/NIN
WHM/BLM
SMN/WHM
SMN/WHM <-- me

As long as SMNs have Carby Mitts, they can kite these thing with no problems whatsoever. Carbuncle lasts more than long enough to get sufficient distance away, and get recast back up. Even though at L.40, Carbuncle will still drain MP, he won't drain you in the amount of time it takes you to complete this.

Once you get the kiting down, use the yellow liquids to lock it in as whatever the job is with the laser, and the fight goes rather easy. After you kill the first, everyone except for the SMNs rested up to 75%, and pulled the 2nd one, and the SMN who was done kiting helped heal. After the 2nd one was down, I continued kiting until everyone was up to 75% health again, and they pulled it off me, I joined in the fight, Astral Flow, and the 3rd one dropped quick.

This battle is not all that hard, but it does take a lot of coordination and communication, make sure stuff out ahead a time, or you will lose this.

tried this damn thing 3 times tonight pt'd as:
RDM/NIN
RDM/NIN
WHM/BLM
SMN/WHM
BLM/WHM

Tried the normal strat where each RDM takes a mob and rest of the pt is on center... should work right? um... no... Neither RDM could stick Gravity and Bind was so-so so the kiters died kinda fast and it all went to hell from there.
Question here is: Do these things have some serious Dark resist and so shouldn't even worry about Gravity? and also would Subbing BLM for the RDM's be any better? ya know .. more int better chance of sticking.
or do we just need to find some better RDM's to kite with?

>_>; First, get an actual tank, not a summon or whatever else you used. Your RDMs need better food/gear or capped enfeebling, you shouldn't be getting resisted to the point of no sticks. Gravity is a wind-based spell. Without BLM sub they only have blink/SS/phalynx to keep them alive, they moreorless -need- utsusemi.
