Mission Orders

The airship piloted by Louverance did not arrive in San d'Oria, but Port Bastok. How much longer will Nag'molada wait for your arrival at the northwestern tower of Pso'Xja?

Walkthrough

Go to North San d'Oria Cathedral and talk to Chasalvige (L-6) in the manuscript room.

Go to Port San d'Oria Airship departure room and talk to Anoki (H-6).

Next zone into Port Bastok and a cutscene with the next chapter's title opening will show. After that, go to Bastok Metalworks and talk with Cid.

If you have completed the series of 3 CoP quests from Raibaht, you should be able to see the name of the airship you've given being displayed in the cutscene.

Next go to Beaucedine Glacier to prepare to enter Promyvion - Vahzl. Enter via the NW tower where Nue spawns at (F-7). Walk straight in until you come to a Stone Door at (H-8). Check the door to activate a trap where a NM Golem Nunyunuwi spawns and attacks. Nunyunuwi has quite a low amount of HP (3500), BUT it possesses an incredible auto-regen ability that heals 100+ HP/sec!! Soloing it is virtually impossible. Store TP to 300% and do a Dark renkei or spam with summoner LV70+ abilities to finish it off in a single blow.

Enter the Stone Door after defeating the golem and take the elevator down. Check the Stone Door there for a cutscene. After the cutscene you will zone into Promyvion - Vahzl.

SO after reading all the jobs people brought into fight this NM it sounded fairly easy and was surprised no one brought SAM. Like i said it sounded easy but took no chances. SO i went to the AH and bought a Icarus wing and a X Potion +3 to be safe. I went in the 75 SAM/WAR and with 300% TP entered the fight with Seigan + Third eye up. I used Sekkanoki and Tachi- Gekkoe'd then Tachi-Kasha'ed him to about 50% HP. Then I popped my 2 HR and did two more WS's And he was down. He is quite the joke ANY 75 DD should be able to bring him down easily!

I just soloed this NM as 78 RDM/BLM - Buffed up and use Chainspell, then went crazy spamming Blizzard III. When mp got low I slept him for a quick second, used convert and gravity and ran away from him a bit. I then quickly started spamming Blizzard III again, and he fell shortly after.

For the record, pup can own this too. build 300% to (100% for your auto), rest to full, pop 3 ice maneuuvers, then spawn the NM. Let your auto cast Blizzard IV (You'll almost break 2k with 5/5 optimisation, loudspeaker I/II, Ice maker), use ventriliquy if you like, then wait for your auto to use magic mortar and use DK to skillchain light. The skillchain will most definatly break 1.5k. If its not dead by then (It should be), then your auto should be casting Fire IV at this point, which will definatly kill it.

Been itching to solo this as PLD as it looked like a fun battle and not many post about PLD. I didn't go super prepared as my time was rushed and needed to log. I went as PLD/war thinking Double Attack and War Cry would help with damage output. Didn't think to bring any HP/MP juices, would help and take a little pressure off but not entirely needed. I believe I ate Mithkabobs as ACC wasn't going to be an issue.

I left the battle with about 250HP and 10MP, give or take some on either. Again, I didn't go super prepared as I did not switch out gear for WS which would probably help. Kept zerk up full time and used all MP for Cures. NOTE: Limit your Curing to Cure IV. This lets you attack more instead of casting Cure II/III to keep HP up if using Parade Gorget full time. Use Parade Gorget only when HP is up and it is in effect, even it is only for a few ticks.

I did use 2hr and Sentinel/Rampart twice so the fight lasted at least 5 minutes. Beating his Regen will be done through your WS while just normal attacks and Double Attack procs help manage his regen.

Good luck.

Solo'd the NM as WAR75/NIN37 - Didn't make much effort to keep shadows up as I wanted to kill it asap.

Opened up with Mighty Strikes/Berserk/Warcry/Aggressor and then dropped a 300tp Rampage on him for slightly under 2.1k damage.

From there on it was a case of Rampageing every time I had 100tp+

After 3 of those he was dead and I had only just dropped into red HP. So much for shadows...if I'd used an Icarus Wing I'd have finished him off in under 10 secs. It was only his regen that kept him going.

Bring on Promyvion-Vahzl!

I brought an icarus wing to facilitate soloing this. Totally didn't need it. 75 drk/sam, Meditated, popped NM, sleep II, absorbed vit, mnd, str, agi, Poison II and Bio II to keep the regen down, and then cast Dread Spikes.

Guillotine #1, Meditate, Abs-tp, Guillotine, fight was over.

A 75 BST can easily solo this. I just solo'd it tonight as BST/NIN and it didn't take too long. Went back and help a BLM and NIN get it also and we killed it very fast as well. The Golem definately had very high HP regen, but a CourierCarrie and BST can easily do more damage than the regen ticks for. I could've solo'd this at 65 or lower probably

I disagree, I went earlier as a 75 BST/NIN and could not out damage his hp tick with CC, now im not saying you didnt but anything lower than a 75 Bst has no hope, waited for a THF and DRK friend to come join me and we killed it fast with a light SC took about 10 seconds.

I tried out this mob as 75 bst/nin and flattened it hard.

Each of my hits was for over 100, and my pet (HQ crab) was hitting every time for 180+. Keep in mind that I am taru, so my weakness is STR lol.

It had horrible accuracy, and missed me and my pet most of the time, and only took out all my shadows when it AOE Crystal rain for 60 dmg.

well that is probably why he/she said "Virtually" instead of "100% not possible to solo". wasting 2hrs on something like this is kinda pointless but a sam or rdm could toast it too. im sure there are other jobs that can do it as well but using a 2hr would fall under the "Virtually Impossible" as using 2hrs isnt normally done over something so trivial.

There aren't a whole lot of jobs that can solo this w/o a lot of time and effort involved. Some 2hr abilities can take it out, some can't. Venlo you must not understand what is meant by "Virtually".

Decided to go kill the golem for the PM as mithra RDM75/BLM37 together witha female elvaan MNK75/WAR37.

Plan was to build TP. Then start Evisceration (Martial Dagger) -> *swap weapon & use icarus wing* Fast Blade (Martial Anelace) -> Asuran Fists -> Chainspell Blizzard III x3 MB -> MNK hundred fists 2hr.

Both of us ate a Sole Sushi and started. MNK hit for 120-150dmg per hit, 210-240dmg a crit. Eviseration did 263dmg, but then i made a mistake and used Savage blade for 367dmg, resulting in a Fragmentation chain for 198dmg. Asuran fists did 1121dmg but made no chain. I also forgot to use Chainspell (was pretty confused when i used wrong sword ws) and started a regular Blizzard III MB (attempt). Blizzard III did 548dmg without elemental staff and killed the NM.I lost no HP due to stoneskin and the MNK lost ~300HP with Dodge, Focus and Berserk active. It was Darksday somewhat 60ish % moon phase.

Ergo: Any job with dmg potential can solo him pretty easy. BRD would most likely have it hardest since BRD totally misses any way to deal alot dmg in short time. Just choose a way to fight it and equip yourself fitting to the choosen way.

EDIT: When we were about to leave a male hume SAM75/WAR37 came in. He basically 1-shotted the NM doing Meikyo Shisui (SAM 2hr) Tachi: Yukikaze-> Tachi: Gekko = Fragmentation-> Tachi: Kasha = Light. Fragmentation chain reduced the HP to 20%.

Not true, I solo'd this as a level 75 Mnk, I had an active meat dish...my punches were 130-140+...war sub meant double attack...and 100 hp a tick regen meant nothing...

i just solo as 74 nin with no food and using sai and other level 50- gear. it maybe hit me for 200 damage the whole time when i let my shadows go down at the end. anything with decent evasion can probably solo 70+ and obviously jobs with pets and whatnot, 2hrs too, jobs with high damage 2hrs. you could build tp and use an icarus wing and SC with yourself (if youre gonna rate me down dont do it because i forgot to mention some ridiculous way to beat this)

Before and after the cutscene you take a long elevator that passes several floors with creatures that aggro. Now I'm not sure if they can aggro you as you're going up or down, but as I was going back up, a Thousand Eyes actually spawned on the elevator and was carried up with me. It cast burst on me and killed me. Now I'm sure this was just a fluke, but just to be safe, I would cast sneak before taking this elevator again.

I have a problem. I went in and touched the Stone Door, popped the NM and was shocked because I hadn't read up on the quest and didn't know it would happen.

So I zoned out, rested to full, and decided to attempt to solo it.

I went back in, popped the NM again, and fought him to within 5% of his life before I ran out of MP thanks to his ridiculous Auto Regen.

So once again, I zoned out, rested up, and went in knowing full well that I could beat him easily now that I knew what I was up against.

As I apporached the Stone Door for the third time, I summoned Garuda, and touched the door to pop him for the final time.

...

The Door is firmly shut.

...

wtf.

I am now unable to pop him. Is there a limit to the amount of times you can spawn him in a single day? I can't think of any other reason why he won't appear now.

I soloed it as a 74 BLM easily without it even getting through Stoneskin.

I will have to agree with the original poster though -- this NM has massive HP regen. My first nuke was Blizzard IV for 1100 damage and by the time I got off my next it had regenerated probably a third of that back! After seeing this I used Bio II and Poison II which seemed to help a bit with the regen.

This NM is overratd, WHM, RDM and THF in my ls each soloed it
I built up 300% tp before fight and a penta was almost enough to kill him. His HP regen is more like 10-20/sec if even that.

I'd say even a BRD lvl 75 could solo this NM.
Soloing is possible

I just watched a lvl 75 mnk/war take the gatekeeper NM down in about 30 seconds. He did do Hundred fists, but I think with haste he could have done it w/o 2h.

Solo is possible if you put out enough damage.

My CoP static did this mission and started 5-2 tonight. This NM seemed pretty weak to magic. Since 5-2 is level 50 capped, 2 of the party members were not level 75.

Our party: Pld75, Whm75, Rmd75, Blm75, Nin58, Rng53.

Pld, Nin, and Rng built up to 300% tp by killing everything in the area. We popped the NM and they immediately did a 3 person Darkness SC. I MB'ed blizzaga 3 for 1804 of damage (I believe it was double ice weather which helped with the damage). The SC and the MB took 95% of its life.

I'm guessing that the Moderators are quite busy to enter all the CoP missions. There are really good guides out there that describe the missions to Chapter 8.
