Description

After finishing the Missionary Moblin quest, re-zone and talk to Koblakiq again to receive this quest.

First get a Arnica root, which can be bought off AH (Alchemy) or dropped from Cactuar mobs in West/East Altepa Desert. If hunting in East Desert, be careful not to link Cactrot Rapido. After obtaining the item, head to Castle Oztroja and follow the path in direction of the magicite. You'll come across an open outdoor area where you'll be on the top level ledge. The Yagudo NPC you want is to your right in a little room just before you exit the outdoor area, so just hug right and you can't miss him. Trade the arnica root to the Yagudo NPC. He'll simply tell you to leave. Go back to the Moblin in Oldton for a key item.

Now go to Beadeaux to find the Quadav NPC at top right corner of G-10 on the island. Clear the nearby area of quadavs, talk to NPC to spawn 4 quadavs which you need to kill. They aren't too hard, but sleepga is important, a 75THF and 72WHM duo handled it no problems. Each person on this quest need to pop the NMs once, with about 2min wait time between each battle. After everyone has killed their set of quadavs and talked to the NPC for an event, head back to Koblakiq. You'll receive Jaguar Mantle as a reward.

I went as a 55rdmg/blumg, and used my lvl 60 soothing healer npc. Just us two cleared out the island. they read as deceant so those were easy at that lvl, and of course buffed up Bison steak, and yea as soon as you talk to the npc they spawn behind you and they all start their attacks at once "I mean realy" I was a little stuned for a sec thier! and reason for using blu as sub is for the aoe sleep spell witch never worked but sleep 2 worked on a couple for a sort time. but thier accur sucks! Anyhow to make it sort me and my npc took them down one by one, and after words never had to heal up. still had plenty mp/hp left. so go for it it worked for me.. good luck to ya!
Easy.

Okay, first thing i am going to say is the NM fight is not difficult.

With all you see is lvl 75s posting, a lot of people believe non 75s may not be able to do this. Not true.

We just did this as 67BLU/NIN(me), 63MNK/NIN, 62WAR/NIN. And i know this may not look much different to the 75s posting due to there being 3 of us, but it was serious overkill. I know i could of solo'd it without any problem.

We heard about this. Seeing 75PLD/NINs using lvl65NPCs just for this fight in posts. So we built tp and buffed up. Shadows. SS. Cocoon. RR. etc

And it was a total joke. I slept all 4 NMs. MNK and WAR both engaged a BLM. Their WS basically took done 66% of NMs hp.

Moved onto the PLDs, and they drop within 30seconds.

All in all, in my honest opinion, i believe a good lvl 55 trio could take it with an effective sleepga quite easily. NM BLMs seem to have less than 2k hp. PLDs a bit more but they didnt hit hard on any of us.

We did this fight several times. For any BLUs out there. a Vorpal -> death scissors SC can almost 1 shot a BLM NM.

Word of warning, just watch out for links, the elders or w/e jumping into the mix can be annoying, maybe lethal if you're doing this pre-lvl 60.

Good luck^^

Just solo'd this as 75pld/nin but I acctually used my /nin abilities not just shadows. Also had lvl 65npc set to Fierce Attacker. Kill the blm first, was really fun.

The npc you trade the arnica root to is above Mii Deggi the Punisher G-7 on the 3rd map... idk about you but "follow the path of the magicite" means sh*t to me

Highly recommended if you want a break from the grind of leveling/farming. I actually laughed at a few of the cutscenes and the Jaguar Mantle is worth a decent chunk of change on most servers... so, win/win!

That said, I was a little nervous about the Quadav fight and I wanted to solo it as a SAM71/WAR35 just to see if it could be done. I started off with the 'ol Sneak Pop trick which didn't work: the four NM Quadavs spawned swinging and casting and I started to panic... until I saw that they couldn't hit me worth a damn and the only spell that stuck was Flash ^^ I'd say this is an incredibly easy fight for a lvl 70ish melee with decent Evasion.

Edit: Should totally have read the 57DRG's comment about the sneak popping. >.<

Duo
# Jun 22 2007 at 4:14 AM Rating: Decent
We were able to duo this as Taru 48 PLD/WAR and Taru 48 DRK/WHM with our 2 NPCs. The PLD popped the mobs and was supposed to Invincible but she forgot so the /WHM on the DRK was helpful for the initial Cure spam that is needed when the mobs are popped. Otherwise, the fight went pretty smoothly.

We had earlier tried as PLD and RDM/BLM but Sleep II and Sleep I were resisted by the PLD mobs so we died.

Disregard last post. I just read the walkthrough that said I needed to rezone.
Fame Level Required?

Is there a fame level required for this quest? I have completed the first quest you get from this NPC, but he won't give me the quest for Jaguar Mantle. I just finished the first quest yesterday. Do I have to wait a certain amount of time?

Soloed this fight today as a 57DRG/WHM. Well, ok, I had my NPC along but she got hit with sleepga right off the bat and didn't wake up until there was only one Quadav left, at which point I was home free anyays. Crazy and fun fight, those things hit pretty hard but seemed to have poor accuracy. Not as bad as I thought it'd be.

Edit: Forgot to mention, unlike most sound-aggro mobs, a sneak pull won't work on these guys. They all begin bashing you the instant you talk to the NPC to pop them.

i just solo'd the Beadeaux part as 75PLD/37NIN. I even had a fifth link as well, that i didn't see before i popped them. Not a real tough fight take the BLMs out first and the other go down quickly.

after reading all the post, about taking parties of 58+ ( 2-4 players ) or being in your low 70's to solo, i was nervous. my bst is only 61 with nin sub but i'd died 4x today lvl'n and getting my AF pants so i figured what's one more death. took the advice of clearing the area first ( building TP ) then popping the NM's. sic'd my fungar on 1 of the pld, which then took aggro from the other pld and mage. i focused on the remaining mage and then moved on to the closest pld, who had decided i made a better target than my pet. sic'd pet on him and moved to the other mage. after the mages were out of the picture i only needed to worry about 1 pld while my pet took out the other. all in all it was fast but clean. took me down to 377hp with no food buffs or any type of 2hr ablity.

75 SMN here, been lvling my SAM so i thought i'll just go ahead of time and get the cape first and get it out of the way. did the traveling part and it's not too bad. then the fight itself. went to the little island and clear out the place. stoneskin and blink up and then summon uncle Ramuh and leave him out. talk to NPC, uncle auto attack one of the 4 NMs that pop since they're attacking me. did a thunderspark and got all 4 hitting on uncle. then i join in the fight start attacking the same one uncle is attacking. poped astral flow also just in case (but after the fight i'm pretty sure i'll do just fine even if i don't pop astral flow). did spirit taker and thunderspark whenever i can. the fight is a push over. now i just have to get SAM up a few more lvls so i can wear the cape ^^

75 SMN here. been lvling my SAM and thought i'll do this quest first and get the cape for use later. took some time with traveling and what not but over all not too bad. finally got to the NM fight part. basically i just clear the area first, put up stoneskin and blink and then left Uncle Ramuh before i talk to the NPC. once the 4 NMs pop, Ramuh auto attack one of them. then i help with the attack and did a thunderspark. that draw all the hate on Ramuh and then i astral flow just to be safe and start hitting on the same NM Ramuh is fighting. used spirit taker and thunderspark whenever i can and the fight is really a push over. now i got my cape sitting in the safe waiting for me to lvl up XD
Abusing the Anti MPK update

For those of you that are on the last part of this quest, being where you have to kill the four quadavs, there is a little trick you can use that worked for me.

As a 67 Whm/Blm (no Hexastrike yet though), I tried to solo this and see how it would go. I had access to sleepga, and after hearing these mobs were lvl 40ish, I thought I had a decent shot at it. Things were going ok, but I couldnt do damage fast enough, and after 1 of the Magnes was down and the second was halfway through, I was running low on mana, mobs were repopping, and I decided to just zone and try again (Btw incase you were wondering and didn't read it, you can zone after popping them once, and still be able to pop the NMs again).

Anyways, so when I did this, I noticed that the three remaining quadav didnt instantly despawn like the ones I trained, due to the recent anti MPK update. That got me to thinking... maybe I can still solo this...

So this is what I did: Buffed up like normal, Ele-Seal Sleepga on the popped Quadav, attacked one of the Magnes quadav, and proceeded to run to the zone. As I was tallying up a nice train, right before the zone, I slept the trailing Magnes. After zoning and rezoning, all that was left was the lone NM quadav. In the time it took for me to kill this one, the other three despawned, and upon returing to the Quadav NPC, I got the affirmation cutscene.

So my advice: If you are a 62+ mage that can cast sleepga, do as mentioned above and you should be fine. If you have access to sleep bolts, you can train all four of the Quadav, and just sleep one right before you zone. Either way, experiment with this trick if you are stuck on it and can't / don't want to bother anyone else to help.
Mantle Run

I was dreading to do this quest but as mnk 43 wanted to have a good back armor and since this is a quest not a drop i decided to do it.

Some1 said its a all-day-quest and damnit u were right, it takes forever.

I went as 75 thief, went to davoi and got soiled letter like 1/5. talked to the npc, went to the castle with arnica root, traded, warped, went back to npc, took off to beadeux (npc gives u the glittering fragment key item) talked to the npc there and 4 quadav spawned, killed blms first, then plds, hp never went under 1k >.>

talked to npc and got my mantle, this quest is too weak but its the length of time that is incredibly tough, if not for the time it takes to do this quest, this mantle wouldnt cost 350k on midgard. But u can make this a LS event, and make everyone 350k richer in 1 easy shot. ^^

ok I did this as 61war/thf, and a 73whm also did as well. ended having to farm the root. taking out the blms makes the fight go by fast. good sugestion on sleeping the mobs.. realy slows down the hits I took. first fight was a walk in the park. second, some of the mobs I cleared out respawnd in the fight. so it lasted a bit longer. whm never ran out of mp. easy quest, just fallow the runthrough. would have done war/nin for this, however I needed the th1 for the help with the drop of the root. with tele's this did go by fast once we had the root.

have fun

the nm's here are a complete joke. me (64drg) and my 64mnk bud decided to do this fight. got out to beadeaux, cleared area and saved tp. we decided to each take one of the magnes (blm) quads and ignore the other two till those were dead. opened up on them w/ weapon skill and that pretty much smoked em. teamed up on the other 2, finished last one off w/ a penta > howling fist skill that totally annihilated it. easiest 200k i ever made.
If you die...

I died while fighting the NMs but my friend finished then off while i was dead. If i go back and talk to the NPC quadav, will he spawn the NMs again or will the event happen?

easy solo as 71 bst, didnt even take the one CC i called down past 70% and she was already weakened by bio II and =10% hp clearing out the other quadav.
have blink and stoneskin up initially to take the damage from thespells they cast, the AoE they used made my pet kee pswapping between all 4 so i did not have to use the fight command on each mob. after that its upto you if you want to melee but CC had already killed 2 while i was on one of the others.

As 70THF/NIN. Slept 2PLDs and a BLM, used DE on the unslept BLM and got to work. Spammed as many bloody bolts as possible on him as soon as the 3 others woke up (which is very quick). Had to use 2hr, but once the BLMs were down the PLDs were cake. Even dealt with two links!
Why not add more to the list
# Aug 19 2005 at 11:01 PM Rating: Decent
Did this just now as a 72BRD/WHM Horde Lulliby was a must but easy if not extremly long fight killed the BLM's first, then one of the PLD, then an Iron that decided to butt his nose into it just because I didn't want to take the chance that mobs would reset before I got a chance to talk to the NPC, used a Wing Sword and its capped at my lvl.

solo this as 74 PLD/WHM

killed pld, war, blm, blm in the order, but i think i should kill mage first, coz they keep using ga magic.

no sleep used at all coz i don't have it, and also takes a bit of time, so other 3 quadav poped and i have to kill them too.

in general it's not hard for someone has job 70+ or 65+ x 2.
