In-Game Text

Description

To qualify, you must be a Monk, Level 71, and have 250+ hand-to-hand skill. Oggbi will give you the Weapon Training Guide key item and the Knuckles of Trials rare/ex weapon. Using this weapon you must do weapon skills and skillchains. You must accumulate 300 points using the following rules: Solo-WS or opening any level SC: 1 pt.

Close LVL1 SC: 2 pt.

Close LVL2 SC: 3 pt.

Close LVL3 SC: 5 pt.

- Total Needed: 300 pt.

-

The weapon is not bad (it's no Chaosbringer) so any EXP party probably won't mind you using it. The weapon has a latent effect (+20HP, +10 to two elements). When the latent effect goes away (your HP will suddenly drop by 20) the weapon is ready to be turned in. Bring the weapon back to Oggbi and trade it to him. He will give you a map key item and tell you to go to the Bostaunieux Oubliette in San d'Oria. Gather a team of people including a very good tank (Paladin works as well as Ninja here); We did this we 12 people from 67-73 and the Paladin was the L73. The more the merrier. The map for Bostaunieux Oubliette can be obtained by doing The Sand Charm, a quest in Mhaura. It's good to get this.

Once in Bostaunieux Oubliette go west, south, then east into a long corridor. Aggro here will be minimal if you are around 70, and Easy Prey at worst; sneak to avoid aggro. As you go down the corridor you'll run across a trapdoor. Make sure SNEAK is fresh and then drop down this into the lower level. The bloodsucker leeches con Decent Challenge at 71 and will aggro anyone that goes down there without sneak. Make your way to the small room at I-8. Clear the room of leeches, rest up, and click the ??? in the center of the room. A WAR-type skeleton named Bodach will spawn. He has no special tricks, he just has ALOT of hitpoints, high evasion for bones and will spam the usual Blood Saber, Hell Slash, and Horror Cloud. If you've ever had a few links while doing Eldieme coffer keys, it will bring back memories. Paladins will work nice here since they can intimidate Bodach.

Beat Bodach, then click the ??? again to get The Annals of Truth key item. Go back to Oggbi, click him, and then go back to Jeuno. Zone to Rolanberry Fields and go nuts playing with your new weapon skill, Asuran Fists!

Confirming that Footwork DOES count.
# May 14 2009 at 5:55 AM Rating: Decent
I'd just like to confirm that using Weapon skills and creating skill chains WILL count towards the overall 300 points if Footwork is active. I just broke my Latent using Footwork, and now on my way to Bastok to trade the weapon back ^^

Does anyone know if Campaign Battles (Hitting Fortifications for the matter) with WS counts?

I finished up the SC part (long part!) and got a few LS friends. I had a 75 BLM/RDM, 75 WAR/NIN, <me>, and a 75 RDM/WHM - just went in there, me and WAR 2 hred and just demolished it, didnt even need to heavy heal (mages had round 500+ MP still) was very easy fight, but then again, the ppl were all pimped out lol

Broke the latent effect last night...took about 3 hours of doing level 2 SCs. Footwork does not effect it. Going to fight the NM tonight. Did them all on D/C calibri. It takes a LONG TIME. Do not feel discourage. i highly recomend finding some one who will let u close the SC. the bigger the better...wish me luck on Bodach

Just did this w/a Kickass WHM (Thank you Decaynine!!!) Hexa Strike >> Dragon Kick = Light SC (5 points!) We whooped up on Mousse in SSG, great mobs for 75WHM/NIN and a 71MNK. Took ~1.5Hrs which is very fast imo to break a latent. 1 Good thing about this place is the added benefit of other ppl farming Sahagin here. They kept the place clear of Aggro (cept for the occasional Crab and other Sahagin if ya dun use SNK/INVIS(Spectral Jig) ... thankfully I went /DNC(STFU Gred!)) ANYHOW! this is THE place to go imho. Had a great time, tomorrow/later today Asuran Fists shall be mine! XD

ok seriously this fight was a joke..
we went in with 75mnk 72mnk<me> 75pld and 75rdm
both mnks 2 hred and it was dead within 20sec. with next to no dmg done to us.
so no need to get this huge pt together and be all scared about it.

This strategy didn't work for me. We had 75 PLD, 75 BLU and two 71 MNKs. The PLD and the MNKs all two-houred and the BLU spammed spells, but the MNKs couldn't hit it at all even with Warm-Up. It was only about half dead by the time the two-hours wore.

Don't let others intimidate you. I did it about 1 hour ago. Myself lvl 71 mnk, mnk x 2 lvl 75, ninja lvl 75, whm lvl 75, blm lvl 75. we won without any problem. None used 2hours beside the whm at the end. Easy fight and AWESOME WEAPONSKILL! Even my girlfriend loves it lol.

After looking at my equipment after ever ws and finally breaking the latent, a few friends and LS memebers decided to take him.

75NIN/37WAR
75MNK/37WAR
72MNK/36WAR
75THF/37NIN
72SMN/36WHM
75RDM/37WHM
75RDM/37BLM
70BLM/35WHM

Everyone was down in the red by the end practically, if he would have done one more AoE, we'd all be dead. The 75 MNK went bare handed and both him and the NIN died by the end. It kept getting back its health from all the mages and the summon which didn't help at all, I had no idea if we'd ever kill him with that. Harder than I thought, but also doable.
Not too bad of a fight

Well I'd like to say this Quest is not as hard is it could have been, at least for me.

I went with my brother who is a Warrior to Kuftal Tunnel and there we broke my latent. It was amazing doing Mistral Axe -> Dragon Kick for Light. Not only is it Light, which is level 3, but I closed so I got 5 points per kill. We were out of Kuftal in an amazing 1 hour 50 minutes.

I then headed to Bost. Obligette(sp) to kill the NM. My brother came this time as paladin, myself as Monk, a Dark/Thief, and a Brd. The Bard two houred right before we started and gave us double Minuet to boost our WSs. We took it down to 70% like nothing. Then I Hundred Fist and my brother used Cover on me. I parsed the damage and found I took about 5000 of it's Damage during the fight. It did almost wipe our party, as it hits EXTREMELY hard. We made it though, and my sexy Asuran Fists is rockin!! I love monk!

The only way a 75 NIN could solo this would be with WHM sub to erase the slow from his cloud move and only if you somehow pull him to a safer area.

I tried yesterday with 75 NIN/WAR and 75 BLM/WHM. We were doing okay, but eventually the leech repops owned us with the NM at 1/5th life.

Went back with a 75 THF/NIN friend and won pretty easily.

We just destroyed this guy so easily, 71mnk(me), 71pld, 74brd, 70blm, 69rdm, 75war, 75mnk. melee were in pt with the brd and mages were in pt with rdm. took maybe 1 and a half minutes to take down.
got it

all i could find on asuran was asura which means something to the effect of a demon or some type of enemy of the gods. would it be safe to say then that this means demonic fists? isn't that kinda out of character for a monk ws?
i looked up asuran...
# Aug 17 2009 at 10:22 AM Rating: Decent
Unless i'm mistaken, the asura was an entity with 6 arms, so the name of the ws is referring to the fact that it's 8 hits, one for each of his 6 arms and 2 legs

Why dosn't the guide say you get points for level 2 Skill Chains, is this an error or is it that you can't get points.

I am a level 70 Tarutaru MNK... 30k before I can get my knuckles of trials and get started on WS points, but when I get them you can bet I'm gonna be doing nothing but working on unlocking them.

My fists will have fury!! ^^
So I got to be 71 T T
# Mar 16 2006 at 1:20 AM Rating: Decent
hoping to be able to get this at 70 and kick Maats rump and teach him his own lessen. Well guess not lol.

So do you have to have completed all af quest. I'm already lvl 67 and still not done af3 or got head and body gear cause I don't like asking favors.:p yeah I'm stupid.
Flitton
# Mar 07 2006 at 1:49 PM Rating: Good
No Flitton, your points will still be good. This thought stems from the rumor about unlocking DRK, which I think has been proven false. All of your accrued points are still there. Go out and finish it up! I'm following close behind.

BTW, any skillchain works on any enemy as long as its Easy Prey or higher. Ive heard that farming Kindred Seals in Garliage on bones in the basement with a WHM who has Hexa Strike is really easy and gives you mucho KS to boot. Also, a level 2 skillchain gives 3 points from research.
