Mission OrdersProcure a lizard egg from monsters in the Dangruf Wadi. Deliver the egg to Senator Alois in the President's Office. WalkthroughNote: To be able to accept this quest, you may have to trade up to a stack of crystals to a gate guard. Note: This mission can be skipped by trading crystals to a Bastokan Gate Guard. Speak to any Bastokan Gate Guard to accept this quest. The Gate Guard will ask you to retrieve a Lizard Egg from Dangruf Wadi (you can also buy the item from the Auction House). Head to Dangruf Wadi and slay Steam Lizards until you get the Lizard Egg. You can also buy this item from the Auction House or obtain it using Steal. After obtaining the egg, go to the Metalworks and speak to Senator Alois at (J-8) near the President's Office. You will be rewarded with rank points. They are located at (J-4) on the map. Be good idea to bring along a Thf so they can steal it as well as drops. Things around these lizards con up to tough thus far to level 20. We got it in maybe less then half an hour.
after the cutscene, the musketeer guy will ask you if you think these missions are a waste of time. you can answer yes or no.
i answered no, then he said, in that case, he should try to be more like me.
anyone knows what he says if you answer yes? i repeated the quest but after that, the senator guy just gives me something (he makes the motion but not status message appeared saying, you got x gil or something)

Which tab do I need to search for in auction, I was thinking in Other/Food, but to no avail.

Pretty sure I got it in the food category.
This mission isnt 2-3. Even if you fill your bar up to the limit with turning in the crystals before you do it, you will NOT get promoted to 3.
You need to do the emmisary mission to get to 3.

i was rank 2 when i got this mission, i donated crystals untill my rank was full.
i was told to goto the gatehouse
when i completed this mission, i didnt gain a rank, maybe you need fame points from quests first ?

Tool, you fill your rank points then get the last rank quest/mission to get to the next rank. You wish it were that easy, hah!

Before I did my mission I turned in as many crystals as it would allow me, getting my bar right up to the top. So, if this mission allowed you to go from 2-3, then shouldnt it have pushed me over into 3?

I went into this mission at lvl 14 and with a good full party of 1 whm 1 rdm 3 war (cross provoking)and a thief all lvl 13-14 we could not kill a steam lizard, when I got the strat guide it states these lizards are lvl 20-23 and link.
LVL 10 might be the min lvl to get this mission but you would never complete it at this lvl. I sujest you buy the damn egg and get it over with.

Hey, don't leave the wadi without two eggs. You can do the mission twice in a row which will give you enough rank 2 points to unlock the 'Dragon of Giddeus' mission.

I killed over 30 Rock Lizards before I got tired of being killed by plaguebreath. I ended up buying a lizard egg at the AH for 1500 gil.

1500? I got mine for 250 and I killed around 40 Rock Lizards, and never got plaguebreathed or died. Guess you just got unlucky. BTW - I don't think you can get it from Rock Lizards. I think you have to kill harder ones, cuz I was lost in there for a couple hours and killed every Rock Lizard I saw and didn't get an egg.

Steam Lizards, not Rock Lizards will give you an egg, hope iam right (^_^).

Reportedly, the lizards you need to kill are the Steam Lizards found at the back of the second level of the wadi (i.e. past the geyser that lifts you up), not the Rock Lizards that are scattered around the lower level. Taking the geyser up puts you up against goblins like the Goblin Butcher that are tougher than the goblins you meet on the bottom level of the Wadi. A low teens group should do fine in this part. However, the lizards are further back still. Head to the far north open area, and you'll run into even tougher goblins (I would guess they rate as even at about level 16 or so). The lizards are about the same level and mixed in with the goblins, so your group needs to be able to handle opponents of about that level in order to kill the lizards and get the eggs.
