Mission Orders

To capture the mysterious boy, you must first locate the fourth mothercrystal. To do this, you have been ordered to travel to the nations of Bastok, Windurst, and San d'Oria to learn of the Multinational Expedition that was held nearly thirty years ago.

Walkthrough

After cutscene, the mission divides into 2 parts - SanDoria route and Windurst route. Route details are given below. You are free to go through either route. You can also go through both routes at the same time since there's no need to complete one route to start the next. After completing both routes, head back to Metalworks and talk to Cid.

M 3-3A: SanDoria Route (Emerald Waters)

3-3 A1: Enter North Sandoria to start this leg of the mission.

3-3 A2(Vicissitudes): Talk to Arnau the priest in the Cathedral. Next talk to Chasalvige in the Manuscript Room on the left.

3-3 A3(Descendents of Line Lost): Next go to Carpenter's Landing via the (E-6) Entrance Point in Jugner Forest. Look for a NPC called Guilloud beside a boulder at (H-10). Talking to him will spawn a Malboro mob named Overgrown Ivy. LV75 character with nin or whm sub should be sufficient to defeat it however watch out for it's Hundred Fist ability.

3-3 A4 (Louverance): After defeating Overgrown Ivy, talk to Guilloud again, then return to South San Doria and look for Hinaree at the Manor (B-6). This ends the Sandorian leg.

M 3-3B: Windurst Route (Memories of a Maiden)

3-3 B1: Enter Windurst waters to start this leg of the mission.

3-3 B2 (Comedy of Errors): Head to Rhinostery right-hand room (J-9) and talk to Ohbiru-Dohbiru. Next go to Winwalls and talk to Yoran-Moran at his house. Then go back to Windurst waters to Timbre Timbers Tavern (F-10) and talk to Kyume-Romeh.

3-3 B3 (Comedy of Errors): Go to the southern portion of Windurst waters to the house of Honoi-Gomoi (E-7). Talk to Honoi-Gomoi to receive a key item Mimeo Mirror. Go back to Winwalls again to talk to Yoran-Oran for the method to repair the mirror.

To repair the mirror, you need to go to Attohwa Chasm to find a point marked "Loose Sand" (K-8). Checking the point will spawn a Antlion mob called Lioumere. Try to fight it away from the Loose Sand spawn, if it returns to the base, its HP will be recovered. Defeat it and check the Loose Sand again to get another key item Mimeo Egg. Next, you'll need to climb the intricate mountain of Parrademo Tor to reach the summit within a time limit of 1 hour before the egg disappears and check a point marked "Cradle of Rebirth" to get 3 Mimeo Feathers as key item. If you can't get to the top in time, you'll have to check the Loose Sand again (without any antlion fights) and try again. The starting point for the climb up is located somewhere to the southeast corner of the Tor near the Loose Sand. The path is very narrow with no natural barriers so one wrong step and u fall down. However along the way there are some smog barriers that are either permanent or temporary. If you encounter a permanent smog barrier, it usually indicates that you need to continue by falling one step down to the path below. Try to work your way up the summit in a anti-clockwise direction. Return to Windurst and talk to Yoran-Oran.

3-3 B4 (Exit Stage Left): Go to Windurst Walls and talk to Yoran-Oran, then go tp Port Windurst and talk to Yujuju (M-6), then Windurst Waters northern (G-8) and talk to Tosuka-Porika, then go talk to Yoran-Oran again to finish the mission.

It is not necessary to talk to CID to finish this mission because that is part of the next mission, PM 3-4 Tending Aged Wounds.

antlion tip
# Sep 15 2006 at 6:50 PM Rating: Decent
If you are a meelee fighting the antlion, as soon as he does a ws, unlock and run in front of it as it tries to run to its spawn point. This lets you hit it, and regain hate before it it reaches its spawn and regains full health. Just pull it back out again, and repeat. The only problem is if sandpit binds you, but as long as you do the above its a heck of a lot easier.
stay close to antlion kiss it if neccary

Finally beat 2-5. Antlion was a pain I'm lvl 75mnk sub nin had to fight it 3 times got it down to near nothing and it healed. I suggest if you are mellee and going to solo it grab tp first stay close to it tp right off do as much demg you can fast. Once it tp it runs, if you hit it, it stops so stay close close close.

I just solo'd the whole mission as NIN73/WHM36.

There's not much to say about Overgrown Ivy. It does have permanent Hundred Fists or something very close to it, but it misses like crazy. It does not have any 2hr, but it will spam 5 or more Bad Breath in a row on you at about 25% health.

Lioumere gave me a little more trouble. It will definitely go back to its camp (and regen to 100% in one shot) after it uses a TP move, so be prepared and don't melee it too much if you don't need to. I managed to keep it away from the camp by running after it after a TP move came. Patience, it whiffs even more than Overgrown Ivy and should not give you any more trouble than a Goblin Smithy. :)

The way up the hill was quite interesting. I thought, what a stupid quest, but managed to do it on try #2.
SMN Solo Easy
# Jul 01 2006 at 10:29 PM Rating: Decent
just solo'd this as a 66 SMN/WHM. Very, very easy fight, I buffed up before talking to the npc and already had fenrir out, it took 2 Eclipse Bites and fenrirs melee in between and it was over. I would recommend running far away from ivy almost like SMN soloing just in case the avatar dies. Also, if you dont have fenrir i would suggest at least a free carby if not carby with 1mp/tick and meteorite it to death, it will take longer but will be just as effective.

Tip: HUG THE WALLS. Face your camera towards the wall, and so that you can see 1/4 the screen to what is comming up. It is a VERY easy climb.

First off, head to (K-9). You will be on the easternmost side of the mountain, almost at the lower corner. You'll come to a point wher there
will be a ramp on either side of you, if you are facing the mountain. Take the left one, heading South. Proceed up a few steps and you'll reach a fork. Head to the right (North). You should be heading upwards now.

Next, you'll hit another fork, on one side (left) is a crack in the wall, the other is a path. Head to the left (South, towards the crack). Proceed a bit further and you'll come to another split. Head north, taking the path heading upwards. At the next intersection, keep straight continuing North. You'll reach a spout, but it'll go down in a few seconds. Continue ahead, walking over the giant bone, still moving Northwards.

Now, you'll come to a dark black spout. This will not die down. At this point, fall off to the side (East). You'll then land on a platform directly below. Head North a bit, and you'll see this walkway ends quickly. Fall down, heading North still, however, and not fall to the right (east) like you did before.

If you did this all right, you should be heading upwards and North. You'll soon hit another intersection, but ignore it; head North still. You'll quickly hit another spout, and this one will not die either. So, you guessed it, fall down to the right (east) again. Don't fall too far. You want to fall on the platform DIRECTLY below, and not all the way down. If you did it right, you'll be facing north where th ewalkway continues, and right behind you, the platform will end. Continue North.

After you turn a corner, you'll see this massive bone heading upwards. To your left, you should see that the platform begins to rise. Take it upwards and move towards the bone. IF you don't go upwards, the platform will soon end, and you'll have nowhere to go, but down. Bad. Climb the bone, continuing upwards. At the top of the spiny bone thing, continue West
now, moving upwards. You'll hit another intersection, but keep West.

The platform will end, and you'll see the top. Too bad you can't get there yet . Fall down to the platform, heading West. Make sure to fall at the END of the platform. If you did it right, a rock should be BEHIND you, not in front. If not, start over ^^. Head West. You'll encounter another spout, but it will disappear soon.

Once again, you'll see the top, but you still can't get there. Fall down again, to the North. Same as before, fall at the platform's END. If you did it right, a rock will be behind you. Head West. This path will wind a bit, and you'll cross over another spine/bone structure as well. Soon, you will hit another perma-spout. Fall to the North again onto the platform below. Do not fall on the ground. You'll be on a platform that will be VERY close to the ground. Don't worry, you're doing fine ^^.

Follow this platform around, heading in the general South direction being careful not to accidentally fall off. When you hit another spine, which is rather short, you'll see a path heading upwards. Take it. You should be heading Northwards and up now. At the top, head to the right (South) towards the crack in the wall.

You'll quickly hit another path heading upwards. Take it. At the top, ignore the path heading South and continue NOrth. You'll hit a spout, but it will disappear soon. Follow the path over 2 sets of bones. After the bones and heading upwards a bit, the path will split.

To the north, you will see another set of bones, so head North. At the end of these bones, you'll hit a dead end. Continue upa bit, and you'll fall onto a path below you. If done right, you will have a rock behind you, and you will be facing Westwards. You'll soon hit another spout, but this one will disappear, and when it does, continue NOrth. Now, just follow this path up a bit more and TA-DA! You're at the top.

way over kill, pld and i opened with 1k+ ws's, it used TP at about 25% health, started to run bakc, rdm bound it, we polished it off.
got geggs, everyone followed me (rdm and thf fell off) pld and i got to top

Ripped Off from the Promathia Mission Guide sticky on the Quest/Mission Forum >:} The Mountain Route walkthrough anyway >.>

After you kill the NM go to the east side of the mountain (marked as green dot) - from Loose Sand go around the rocks (E->S->W) - pass the point with Doom Scorpions.
1. enter the path and go up anti-clockwise.
2. get to the WHITE smoke barrier (you can see the bone bridge behind it). wait for it to fade
3. cross the bridge and go to BLACK smoke barrier, drop down there (use "walk" function not "run", so you don't fall down too much)
4. get to another BLACK smoke barrier and drop down
5. keep walking anti-clockwise through the spine path
6. go as far up as you can - and fall down on the path below
7. get to the WHITE smoke barrier and wait for it to fade
8. go up - and drop down the path
9. keep walking - there's a bone spine ledge (horizontal) you should walk on
10. get to BLACK barrier and fall down - you should be on a path that's very close to the ground - it's OK! :)
11. go to the section when there's a path up (clockwise) - use this one
12. keep walking up (anti-clockwise then clockwise again - from this moment keep walking clockwise)
13. get to WHITE smoke barrier - and wait for it to fade
14. go through the spine ledge and go up
15. go through another spine ledge that ends with a bone (and there's a path below at the end of the ledge) - drop down there
16. keep walking up - til you get to WHITE smoke barrier - wait for it to fade - and go up
17. keep walking - and you're at the TOP! :)
18. find Cradle of Rebirth and click on it - Jewel will change into three feathers

I just solo'd this whole thing as 66rdm/nin. was so easy but very time consuming. The Ivy was a pain, but sleepII worked great. The Antlion was a breaze, didn't even loose a hit point. The running around though was very annoying

Don't try to do the trick "Die & Tractor" to climb the mountain. You will have to start over again if you die.

I just tractor'd one of my friends and found out he couldn't get the key items on the submit.
Glitch works
# Mar 31 2006 at 7:29 PM Rating: Default
Woot, the glitch works so 5 ppl can fight 1 at a time. Made my life so much easier, was my 3rd attempt at this fight.

Some may say "I deserved to win this more than you because you didn't beat it the way it was intended". ( As the people who hate Apathy for killing AV would say ).

My response is, idk, I just wanted to beat this so I could move along in storyline.
Best guide for the path up.

great guide, thx for posting.

about the 2 fights.
I soloed the ivy as blm75 and he was a joke. just sleep, then cast. I muchlower blm could have soloed this as long as sleep sticks.

as for the loose sand, omg what a pain.

as blm, the bug would just runaway after 75% health. I couldent cast sleep or even stun fas enough.

I came back as blm/rdm. poped the mob, and pulled it away, casting stone 1 evey few feet so it dosent run back. after your a bit away, sleep then gravity it. it still keep running back after a few nukes, but u can easily sleep it in time with gravity on

Did the Ivy ages ago, no problem, couldn't hit me as WAR75/NIN37 with eva+ gear.

I kept on putting the Attohwa Chasm one off for ages as I didn't wanna climb the mountain. But my ls did the ENM "Shell We Dance" and after that they helped me kill the Antlion. Well, I popped it, RNG used Sidewinder, WAR used Raging Rush and it died, joy.

Due to climbing the mountain earlier for the Key Item for the ENM, I was pretty familiar on where to go, but I used the pictoral guide posted by Dramangeon farther down this thread. But I got to the top in like 10-15mins, I can't remember exactly. I got it easy :D.

Two Notes:

1. Ivy and Antlion are easily soloable by a 64, 68 RDM (respectively). Just did it myself.

and

2. Don't know if anyone else knows, but at a point called "Luminous" (SP?) I also got the stone simply from checking it. This only worked once however, and happened PRIOR to me fighting the Antlion. Never worked afterwards, out of 5 attempts.

Edits:
Would like to point out that my trip consisted mostly of a Clockwise climb. >.>

Also... there is no such thing as "Anti-clockwise." Counterclockwise, anyone?

All I have to say is if I ever meet the developer who designed the Windy leg of this mission, I will gladly punch him in the face. That mountain climb is one of the worst annoying designs I've ever seen. (Actually Attowa Chasm is just annoying in general because of it's worthless map and annoying maze of black smoke blockades.) Gee, it's a wonder why no one is ever in that ****** zone.

You shouldn't have to have the camera at certain angles in order to not fall off the path. Took me six goddamn attempts to get past one spot the climb because of the narrowness of the path and my character could not run on it without slipping off. Off course the spot was at the 3/4 point of the climb and where I fell forced me to start over, so it was an incredible waste of time.

This is an MMO, not friggin Tomb Raider so I don't see the point of having these narrow paths on the mountain where you can just seem to fall off at random. Finally, I found the best thing to do is keep the camera somewhat below your character, looking up at it. Camera angle shouldn't friggin matter IMO, but it does.

Someone asked me to make a video of the climb to the top so I figure I'd share the video in case someone could find it useful. Video starts at the Loose Sand and gets to the top in a little over 5 minutes. I did make one wrong turn though and am too lazy to go back and make another one. Hope this is useful for someone.

Just a word of advice...if you play on PC and you are having ANY lag issues while trying to reach the top of Parrademo Tor., for the love of God take your time, WALK around the tight spots/bends on the path, don't run, and keep the camera-angle as far back as possible. After literally "bouncing" off the walls I was hugging too tightly 3 times and ending up standing on thin-air off the path and unable to move at all without falling, I learned to be very very careful walking around some of the blind corners and over some of the narrow areas.
And yes, if you D/C while climbing you lose the key item...that also happened! But hey, what CoP missions AREN'T a pain in the a$$, right?! XD
