Mission Orders

Prishe has been taken to Doctor Monberaux's clinic! What ails her fragile body and what, if anything, can save her!?

Walkthrough

Go to Upper Jeuno's Infirmary and talk to Monberaux. Proceed to Lower Jeuno Neptune Spire and go into Tenshodo and talk to Ghebi Damomohe (I-7). She'll ask you to bring one of the 3 chips that can be obtained from Pso'Xja.

(Rare/Ex) Carmine Chip - Snow Lizard or Frost Lizard [Etoh: I got my chip from this, at a no-level-cap Pso'Xja from Beaucidine Tower (F-7) where Nue spawns. They drop pretty easily...gotten all 6 for my PT in 2 hours. Decent Challenge to LV75]

(Rare/Ex)Gray Chip - Diremite Stalkers (at Tower near Ranguemont), Diremite Assaulters, Diremite

(Rare/Ex) Cyan Chip - Treasure Chest Mimics

Bring either one of the above chips back to Ghebi Damomohe and trade to her to get a key item and 500g reward. Go to Beaucedine and enter Pso'Xja via (H-8) tower (near outpost guards) which has a Level 40 cap.

-From entrance, go straight until you reach a circular plaza. Head to the branch northward and you'll see a Red Warp (H-7)

-After the Red warp, turn right and walk straight ahead to Black Warp (I-7)

-Walk westward to the 2nd room, turn left and walk thru a Red Warp (H-7)

-After Red Warp, turn right and walk straight ahead to Black Warp (I-7)

-Go west to the 2nd room and turn left to reach the Elevator area.

-Head north, turn left and down a flight of stairs to a Stone Gate where you click to use your Key Item gotten earlier on in Jeuno to enter the Shrouded Maw BC holding area.

While it sounds repetitive, this is the correct way of navigating Pso'Xja. So its a hint that it could be quite mazy. Mobs like Gazers and Snowballs will aggro at your level so take caution.

Once you've reached the Shrouded Maw, do the necessary preps and click on the 'Memento Circle' to enter boss fight. In here you'll fight the familiar Diabolos in FF series. Diabolos is fairly easy to battle with if your tankers have ninjaa ninja sub. You should have no problem getting it down to half HP. He has a AOE Sleep attack called Nightmare that even drinking Posion is hard to counter so your melee will need to stun him when he readies this. Have your White Mage cast Barsleepra before the fight because he also casts Sleepga.

Once his HP reaches a certain level, Diabolos will start to remove the flooring tiles away in the battle arena! Now you have to be very careful of this, because if you are standing on the tile that he casts away, you'll drop down to the basement below where a SWARM of Diremites are waiting to gobble you up (instant death)! So if you are standing on the wrong tile, it's ADIOS! There are 2 Ways to tell which tiles are going to Drop. The 1st Way is to know every possible combination of tiles that drop. The layout of the Arena goes like this:

O O B O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O O

where 'B' indicates the initial position of Diabolos.

There are 3 patterns that Diabolos will remove the flooring:

O O O X X O X O O O O X O X O O O O X O X X O O O

O X O X O O O O O O O O X O O X O X O X X O O O X

X O O O X O O X O O X O O O X O O X O O X O O O X

So eliminating all possible pitfalls, we are left with the safest spots (marked with O) indicated below:

X X O X X O X X O O X X X X X X O X X X X X O O X

The Second is that your shadow will not be cast on tiles that drop. So if your standing on a tile and have the time check to see if your shadow is on it as well. This is because SE does not feel its nessssary to render shadows on moving objects, or objects with animations.

Diabolos also has a WS that causes a knock-back effect, which unfortunately if you are standing on a isolated tile, will cause you to drop down to oblivion. If you can find a wall at the arena sides to face your back on, you can prevent the knockback from pushing you down. Recommended fighting positions for melee (*) and mages (#) are:

X X # X X O x x O O X X X X X X O X X X X X * * X

Defeating Diabolos will earn you a title. Return to Upper Jeuno to talk to Monberaux doctor at Upper Jeuno Infirmary to finish this chapter and earning another title.

Noob question: what's the level cap on this fight? 40 or 50?

Considering the area is Pso'Xja is capped at lvl 40; I am guessing it is lvl 40 capped. It would be silly to run threw a lvl 40 capped area, in lvl 40 gear, then switch to lvl 50 gear when fighting Diabolos, no? ^ ^;

Just beat this last night with my ls as;

NIN/WAR
WHM/BLM
RDM/BLM
BLM/WHM
RNG/NIN
DRG/WAR<-- Me

Our first run went pretty badly as we forgot to sleep and debuff him in the beginning, we did that in the second fight and it went pretty smoothly.

So the moral is, even if you can't find a drk for this fight at least come prepared with Stun WS

The RNG (using a sword) and I save tp for Flat Blade and Leg Sweep and we stunned all his nightmares but one in the end which really hurt, however then the RDM and BLM 2hred and went in for the kill.

My CoP group fought this on Sunday, and I'll have to agree with everyone on here. Stun is essential in this battle. We ended up dying the first try, because we didn't have the Stun thing down. All of the mages ended up dropping like flies because of Sleep/Bio. Our second run went very very smooth. Each Nightmare was stunned, and everyone stayed alive. I did take hate momentarily, as our mnk started getting pummeled, and both smn were busy with other things. But we killed him! Now on to Ouryu!
It's easy if you know the trick

And the trick is Stun. I don't think it can be said enough. But since everyone seems to focus on what does work, I'll talk about what doesn't.

My party was WHM/SMN, BLM/RDM, BLM/WHM, NIN/WAR, MNK/???, RNG/NIN and a THF came along cause he is in our static but had jumped ahead. This party can work. The important thing in the MNK and NIN stun with Shoulder Tackle and Flat Blade.

So first attempt:
Went well, Nightmare got off once but we recovered. The RDM d/c'd but we kept at it until 15% health. We should have two hour'd but the RDM dropping freaked us out and I had already decided we were going to lose. I think we could have won had BLM Manafont's and RNG and MNK two hour'd. Also my reliable Benediction macro that has only failed me once before in 68 levels of WHM exp parties, and has only misfired once and that was in a skill up party, would not work.

So second attempt were were excited cause we had almost gotten it first try:
We run in and Diablos uses draw in anyway, pulls the RDM to a tile, and then drops it. His HP was still at 99.5% and he dropped the tiles... along with the RDM.

Ok, third attempt he just spammed draw in. Like really every twenty seconds he used draw in which randomly placed us around the board. Tank couldn't stay close, people were being interupted. We died.

Ok, fourth attempt we won just like everyone before us - whenever he started to use Nightmare, the MNK and NIN would take turns stunning him. The RNG also used stun bullets to keep him distracted. At 25% the RNG and MNK two hour'd while the BLM got Manafont ready. By the time Diablos was back to beating on the NIN, the BLM let loose with Stonega II's and I had Divine Seal + CureIII on the NIN. He was dead right after I finished casting CureIII. Piece of cake.

Also, I was WHM/SMN with capped everything but no merits, and my silence worked 9/10 times throughout the four battles. The RDM also silenced and his always stuck. This keeps Diablos from casting SleepII, Sleepga, and Bio. Made my job easier.

For WHM's the only spells I used were:
Dia II
Cure III
Haste
Regen
Erase
Blindna (only once)
Banish II and Banish (at end just to join in the manaburn gang bang)

My buffs were ProII, Shell II, Barsleepra, and I used two Yag Drinks throughout the winning battle.
Stun!

This is an extremely easy mission. Our set up was War/Nin, War/Nin, Drk/Whm, Rdm/Smn, Blm/Rdm, and Rdm/Blm. Drk/Whm was probably a good descision because he was able to stay under the radar a bit and help people wake up after Sleepgas.

Stun is a NECESSITY here. Our plan worked out great too. The stun order was Drk first with Stun, then if nobody had TP he'd attempt to stun with Weapon Bash. If one of the War/Nins did have TP they'd attempt to stun with Fast Blade. If we both did I'd Flat Blade first. The first Nightmare came pretty early so the Drk was able to Stun it no problem. The next one came when I had TP so I hit it with Flat Blade no problem. It never even tried to hit us with a third, but both War/Nins had TP for it just incase.

It was basically just trying to outlast Diabolos. We used our 2hrs, but it probably wasn't necessary. He only drops the tiles once, but he does the knock back WS a few times so move around at your own risk.
Mission Rating of 1.00... ouch

As I write this the mission has a rating of 1.00. I think that is a little harsh.

This mission has many plus points (trying to avoid any spoilers); the story, the fight itself, Pso'Xja (love this place), and information your given about avatars. Plus after the Mission you can get access to Jueno AH from another location and another supply quest. This makes the mission very worthwhile in my opinion and worth more than 1.00 ;;).

I suppose people have rated it down due to the Diablos fight. My own experience of this Mission involved failing this mission 3 times in a row badly as a PLD - Nightmare every time. However, I came back as a WHM and have beaten it twice with ease.

The secret to winning is simple imo:
1/ Know which tiles might drop and keep off them.
2/ Make sure that you can stun (nullify) Nightmare either by Spell/WS
3/ Have a back up plan in case he spams Nightmare or Stun is missed
i.e.
::a. Tank has hi-pots to keep himself alive
::b. Two WHM's very useful simply for 2xErase (1 can enfeeb/haste the other heal/regen - until erase lands.
4/ Take Meds: Most things are possible with enough med's. Take a few hi-pots, ethers, yag's and au-laits and RR. You dont have to but that 100 HP might be the difference between joy and getting another party together.

On a slight side note, I found RR very useful for whm on my second win he spammed nightmare 3 times very quickly and the SAM couldnt gain TP in time to stun. So I woke to a Party in Orange/Red with Bio III from Nightmare. Bene-cide to save pt then RR (no hate^^) to cast erase all round the party for the win.

An example of a good party for the Mission would be (of course there are many others):
NIN/WAR (tank), WHM/BLM (heal/erase1), WHM/BLM (enfeeb&haste/erase2), SAM/WAR (ws stun), THF/NIN (hate management), BLM/WHM.

Some people get lucky and he doesnt use Nightmare at all or maybe only once, making this a very easy fight.

It's a good mission, with good cutscenes and an unusual fight for ffxi; worthy of a higher rating.

was told that this bcnm needed a drk for stun on Nightmare. but we did it without one and hold record on Siren.

pty setup was:

nin/war (main tank)
War/nin (assist tank)
rng/nin x2
blm/whm
whm/blm

just make sure you save TP for stunning Nightmare. this bcnm isn't really that hard..very easy imo.

record b4 us was 8min. some sec...we did it in 6min and 2 sec...about 4min fight and 2 min to buff/med mp/etc.

edit: incase ppl is wondering.. all melee must stand on 1 tile and mages on another. we stood at the 4th tile at the bottom row and mages were on the 1st tile on 2nd row.

Just beat this over the weekend. Went as SAM, rest of PT was NIN, RNG, BLM, WHM, RDM.

Having a SAM in the PT seems to be the best way to counter Nightmare. We went in, I meditated, and we rested while the med counter wore down. Diabolos fired off 4 Nightmares inside of 5 minutes... I stunned the first one, then immediately used Med. Stunned the second one about a minute later. He immediately followed it up with his third Nightmare, and I didn't get my 2HR off in time so we ate that one. Stunned a sleepga and another spell before my 2HR was going to wear off, then got his 4th and final Darkness with the last 100 TP. Used meditate immediately after that, but he died shortly thereafter.

I am thinking that a well-prepared SAM could stun at least 5 Nightmares between Meditate, 2HR, and an Icarus Wing.

Easy

Did this the other day, setup was:
NIN/WAR (Me)
WHM/BLM
RNG/NIN x3
SMN/WHM

we stood as follow's:
X X # X X
O x x O O
X O X X X
X X * * X
*=Melee and Diabolos #= SMN and WHM

Ok, we go in for the "Suicide Run." No med's, only food. All the ranger's have axe leveled so stun is Smash Axe, while it's 1 RNG's turn to stun he/she doesn't shoot arrows while the other two spam. Only RNG that uses a non stun ws was the last one at the time. I took little to no damage as Diabolos is not accurate at all. We came to one problem where he got sleepga off (Not Nightmare), I took a hit or two and WHM went down from a curaga... She had RR up. ^^ WHM obviously keep NIN hasted and SMN back up heal/DD Diabolos. We owned him on our suicide run and I ended up just using med's at around 20% HP left. Then all 3 ranger's went all out and he was dead. I used 3 Hi Pot's and both mages used about 2 Melon Drinks. Just remember, Ranger's have smash axe, Awesome DD + Awesome TP gain = No real Nightmare worries. And if you want to be even safer, bring an icarus wing so you know 100% at start. That was original plan but since we won on suicide run didn't even use the wing lol.
ouch and owned

I must have had the ultimate set up when I did this.

Date: 9/4/05 (darksday O_O)

(forgot subs :( )

Drk
Drk
Rng
Whm
Blm
Smn (me ^^ )

Round 1:
Well first round we whiped due to the fact that the drk messed up his macro, nightmare owned us all. I died first due to low hp and everyone else purposely wiped for round 2.

Round 2:
Can you say Stunage!!!. My goodness the dude never knew what hit him XD. Drks Timed stun so well it was flawless. We had like a good 5 min nightmare free. It did get us with it by 5:30 (just when I was about to 2 hour :( )into the fight, but I didn't get slept and cured the mages, and we all just went nuts. Killed it around 7:00 and beat the record on Kujata.

War/nin
Sam/war
Smn/whm
Whm/Blm
Blm/whm

It's imperative you have some method to stun, if nightmare gets off, you're pretty much doomed. I highly recommend fighting him on a lightsday, nearly all of his sleep spells were resisted by us when we fought on that day.

Whoever said BLM stun doesn't know wth they're talkign about or made a mistake. Getting a DRK will make this battle so muhc easier. if no DRk then hope at least on eperson has enough TP for a stun WS every time he is about to use his super attack (forgot what it's called, Nightmare or something)
my PT did it with MNK NIN DRK WHM BLM RDM.
Everyone either get barsleepra or use some kinda food that gives you that effect (some kind of red cracker). And if your MNK save chakra for in case he unleashes nightmare.
when you enter th eBC and are all finished buffing/resting run ahead to the drop down point to diablos. Use your barsleepra and drop down. when you are facing diablos from up above there will be 5x5 tiles. The following chart shows where to have everyone stand. 1=melee (MNK DRK PLD NIN THF w/e) 2=Mages.

X X 1 X X
X X 2 X X

if you can't understand this, basically have all the melee stand on the tile where diablos starts out and the mages on the exact opposite end. Make sure diablos is between melee and mages or else he'll hit you off the edge. Make sure DRK Casts stun whenever he is about to use nightmare and make sure a melee has TP for a stun WS in case stun isn't up yet (hasting the DRK helps alot). finding a DRK may be hard, but it will make this battle <Easy Prey>. We died on our first try because NIN was japanese and didn't understand the strategy so she stood int he middle, but we got th emessage across and pwned him the second time. Good luck!

I fought this puppy with a pick-up PT, and after an initial testrun, we totally owned the guy.

Our floor looked like this:
O X D X O
O O O O O
O O X O O
X O X O X
X O O O X

The mages avoid can avoid nightmare by standing diagonally across the floor.

O X D X M
O O O O O
O O X O O
X O X O X
X C O O X

D = Diabolos
M = melee
C = casters

Melee standing in the corner will be just within reach in the middle of the mage tile.
Finally Won

Went last night with my gf and our LS, two runs and beat it both times Smiley: yippee

Party 1 was:
Whm/Blm
Rdm/Whm (me)
Pld/War
Sam/War
Drk/War
War/Nin

Party 2 was:
Whm/Blm
Rdm/Whm (me)
Pld/War
Sam/Nin
Rng/Nin
Drk/War

Pretty much what everyone else is saying
STUN IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST.

Make sure everyone, especially the melee's and *especially* the main tank loads up on hi potions. Everyone should take Pamama or Persikos Au Laits.

Stunning Nightmare will make or break this battle, it's really as simple as that. One can be bad enough but 2 plus, and you'll be very lucky to win.

If your stunners have to, filter Partys Attacks so they can see Nightmare being readied easier.

http://www.materia-ls.com/pm35bymijin.jpg ~ for a nice little map of the battlefield.

Make sure everyones backs are against the walls, as Diabolos will do Knockback attacks. Even though there is no rail on those squares, there's an invisible barrier so you wont fall.

My friend and I have been duoing PMs thus far and finally, after a bit of levelling on his side and a whole lot of nothing, our LS informs us of someone doing a shout for PM 3-5. We immediately snatch up the opportunity to finally get this mission done.

The pick up PT worked out much better than I'd expected 2x MNKs, 1 BRD, 1 WHM (my friend), 1 PLD (me) and 1 RNG. Everyone already had their chips traded in, the PT leader, the BRD, knew how to actually lead. It was a very good sign to me. All of us spent a whole lot money stocking up on items and spent CP for reraise scrolls. A few of the melee, including me, forked over the cash for Iccarus Wings for TP for any initial Nightmares Diabolos might do. I stocked up with as many Hi-Potions I could carry, 6-10. I also brought my blink band, left over from my Maat fight.

Apparently all of the members in our PT had done their research, they even came here and read some of these posts... and I wouldn't be very surprised if they're reading this one. We knew about the tiles falling out and about easily Nightmare could turn a battle for the worse. Our strategy was to save TP for WSes that could stun, Flat Blade and Shoulder Tackle. I took off my LS and tailored my chat filters so I could see when he would use it. We would wait until he was at less than 50-45% health before we would 2hr.

We went in, buffed up and then our WHM disbanded so that way Diabolos' draw in effect wouldn't affect him. The melee and the brd positioned ourselves on the tiles that were recommended for melees. We were drawn in and I quickly reinvited the whm. The first 50% of his health went fairly straight forward, the blink band saved me a few 100 HP. The RNG and the MNKs were doing good as far as I could tell, I had my chat filters on. Most of the time when Diabolos used an ability the MNKs would try to Shoulder Tackle him. At some point of the battle, the WHM dropped from the ledge and moved north of us to where it was recommended for mages to be placed. It was all too easy that I couldn't believe that people were actually having trouble on this.

Finally when he hit around 50% we all decided that this would be a good time to 2hr. The RNG barraged and the MNKs Hundred Fisted, but this was where it got close because the first Nightmare came and no one was able to stun it on time. Nightmare was a pain in the ***. He was smacking me around and I couldn't wake up. Finally the WHM or BRD was able to curaga us awake. It got shakey again when somehow I lost hate to the WHM and he dropped to red and I was finally able to get it off him. Diabolos Nightmared again soon after and most of us were asleep and finally another curaga came and I was dropping to red so I 2hred as well. WHM was able to get me back up, but in the chaos of it all, he ate it. Diabolos was pretty close to death and we were beginning to worry, but I wasn't taking hits too badly and the DDs were wearing him down. I popped my Hi-Potions, very thank ful that I spent so much money on it and the WHM RRed and used kept us all alive. Diabolos was at 1% health and I had 300% TP so I stole the win with a Fast Blade.

Funny thing was... that despite how prepared we were for the battle... after leaving the BCNM. Somehow two of the members go an aggro from the Snowball and three of our PT members died. So... apparently Diabolos can't beat us, but a single a bomb can.

Just beat this last night.

Party:

WAR/NIN (Me)
NIN/WAR
SAM/THF
WHM/BLM
BLM/WHM
BRD/WHM

Plan:

Plan was pretty simple. Buff up at start and have BRD sing ballad, minuet, etc. WHM would also cast bar-sleepra on us too. BLM would just try to focus on stunning Nightmare untill the SAM and I built up enough TP for Tachi: Hobaku and Smash Axe.

As far as where to stand, we all just gathered on the two tiles right where you drop from:

O X X O O
X O X X X
X X * * X

This is the safest spot as the * * tiles will always be up no matter what pattern he decides to drop.

We also carried hi potions incase they were needed and poison potions to counter the sleep.

The Fight:
The first attempt our ninja disconnected right as we entered but it was no problem as we just waited and were kicked out of the fight (30 min time limit).

So we enter again, buff, and as soon as we drop in we get hit with nightmare. The poison seemed to counter the sleep nicely though and we all gathered on the two tiles.

Every Nightmare from there on out we stunned easily with a WS or help from blm.

The only close call happen was when the tiles dropped and he used Camisado I believe. The black mage fell through and died and for some reason everyone but me was pulled to a different area of tiles.

They quickly rushed back, SAM 2 houred for more Stun action. I 2 houred as well and we defeated it easily.

Advice:

- STUN: Bring as many stunners as you can. WS with stun work nicely. I could of went as a RNG/NIN, but Smash Axe helped alot as I stunned atleast 3 Nightmares.

- Poison potions: Alot of people say they don't work well for this fight. For the one time it got nightmare off, sleep went off right away thanks to poison. It's worth a shot.

- Find the two safe tiles right away: We just had everyone group together, you could have mages on the other tile on the far end, but chances to fallare high.

The Fight.

Did this today; was worried about how well it would go over because we had little in the way of solid damage output. Party set-up was as follows:

RDM/BLM (me)
RDM/WHM
BLM/WHM
WHM/BLM
NIN/WAR
WAR/NIN

The set-up actually turned out to be astoundingly good. With such a Mage-heavy PT we were easily able to cure each other awake every time the Darkness AE struck us.

Diabolos was not a short fight, and by the end of it the heavy damage from his Bio had eaten away a great deal of our HP. Near the tail end of the fight the other RDM attempted a Convert. That....didn't work out for him very well. His Bio really does a sickening amount of damage.

He uses an irritating WS called Noctoshield or something similar to that. It gives him Phalanx. I'm unsure how powerful the effect is because I immediately dispelled it each time. But the idea of him having a tool in which to stall further as his Bio eats away at your HP is a tad unsettling.

If he mixes up his WS attacks properly the fight isn't honestly all that bad. I imagine if he uses Darkness for most of his WS then you're going to have a poor time against him.

I suppose the most important thing in this fight is to keep an eye on the health of your PT and cure accordingly. Recovering from Darkness ASAP is critical. And if you're a Mage I'd recommend this macro:

/ma "Stoneskin" <me>
/recast "Stoneskin"

And use it constantly.

That, some hi-potions, and you should be in good shape.

Its a mess. The whole fight is just seeing who wears down the other team first.

Good luck!

There is LiberiFatali's Diabolo's fight. Enjoy!

Set up was this:

NIN/WAR
MNK/WAR
THF/RNG
WHM/BLM
RDM/SMN
WAR/NIN

This was our third run, went very smoothly as you can see. ^^
Same way for Test Your Mite?

Go to Beaucedine and enter Pso'Xja via (H-8) tower (near outpost guards) which has a LV40 cap.

Is this the same way you reach The Shrouded Maw for the ENM40, Test Your Mite? Also, do you need to be on this Mission just to enter The Shrouded Maw?

Yes, this is the route to the Shrowded Maw, which is the BC area for the mission and the ENM40 fight. You do also need to be on this mission because there is a key item needed to get to the Shrowded Maw BC area as stated in the bottom 2 lines of the quote in your post.
Too Weak

Ok everyone. I just finished this mission last night and i have one thing to say... Too Weak lol

OK, here is the deal. portals. Red -> Black -> Red -> Black. If you sneak/invis you can get past every part with no aggro. You will have to recast after every portal.... Boy i wish every CoP level was this easy.

Now that you made it to the door in the zone after the last portal trade your Pso'Xja Pass to it and get ready.

OK! i beat it with:
PLD/WAR
SAM/WAR ME!!! Woot
SAM/WAR
RDM/BLM
BLM/WHM
BRD/WHM

ok here was the key... STUN STUN STUN. i know the only people that can stun are DRKs at 37 and weapon skills. Thankfully both of the SAMs could use Tachi: Hobaku, so all we did we keep TP for whenever he uses NIGHTMARE. That is the key! STUN NIGHTMARE! if you can accomplish this, it is as good as over. Just to be safe, you might want to bring Ic.Wings and potions/drinks just incase.

Well good luck out there.
Defenitly Stun for the Win

Did this lastnight with the following setup:
(without a Ranger)
Edit: Also got record time 8 minutes 26 seconds.

MNK/NIN - Kudra
DRG/THF - Chicasuave
WHM/BLM - Clavical
RDM/BLM - Jackyll
WAR/NIN - Vult
NIN/WAR - Lucian

We entered the BC area and did the usual buffs, Prot/Shell/Food etc., Whm Reraise. (Note: Once you are inside the BC you cannot go back out like other BCs. So make sure your WHM knows not to raise inside if you wipe. Wait until you are booted then try again.)

We sorted out our plan so that Mages where on the tile that Diabolos is on at begining of fight, and melee stood on the 1st tiles of rows 2 and 3 as per the chart above in the guide. Save tp for stuns. I took along a sword in main instead of katana for another stun if needed.

First Attempt:

Went in cast para, voked, everyone was a lil disoreinted since we dropped down right away. Once we all got in postition everything went smoothly all my debuffs stuck on first try. (para/blind/slow) We went to work on him pretty easily until he reached around 60% or so then came his first Nightmare. Missed the stun everyone had bio and asleep. HP just dropped from there, WHM went down, RDM down another Nightmare and that was pretty much it game over.

Second Attempt:

This time instead of dropping down right away we all stopped at the edge. I cast para for the pull, we are drawn in, everyone takes position and we go to work. Debuffs, Nukes, saved up TP for stun, I'm pretty sure silence stuck on him too cus we didnt get slept at all during the first part of the fight. So first nightmare attack, MNK stuns it, no problem there still going smoothly. Pounded away on him recasting nukes, and debuffs as they wore off. 2nd Nightmare, Mnk stuns again. Smooth sailing. 3rd Nightmare I was midcast and not sure what happend with the others but we missed the stun, Nightmare lands, then sleep. Everyone asleep, but mine wore pretty fast, smashed on voke and thro a couple more nukes at him and it was over.
So we were kinda lucky on second run cus he wasnt spamming nightmare on us and no sleep for the most part, but stunning him is the key to winning this.

We emerged from the cutscene afterward everyone still asleep and bio, with hp dropping fast. Just before death WHM wakes up and bam drops Benediction. lol very close call for everyone.

Currently working on 4-2 Dragon fight in Riverne Site #B01. Probably hit that up on the weekend.

There are very few things in FFXI that can't be solved by throwing enough rangers at it.

Yeah, until they nerfed it :(

Anyway, my static and I do all missions together. ZM, Rank, CoP, etc... Our set up is Sam/Rng, Whm/Blm, Rdm/Blm, Smn/Whm, Pld/War, and Rng/Nin (me). And yeah, do you guys think it will be extreamly difficult to win the fight with this set up? I mean, we don't have to worry about it for awhile cause we're working on ZMs right now, but i'm sure once we're done with those, we'll continue with CoP Missions. But what do you guys think? You think we can do it?
